Send us a textThis month we read and review The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh. Like all of our reviews, the first part is spoiler free. Here's a little about The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea:Deadly storms have ravaged Mina's homeland for generations. Floods sweep away entire villages, while bloody wars are waged over the few remaining resources. Her people believe the Sea God, once their protector, now curses them with death and despair. In an attempt to appease him, each year a beautiful maiden is thrown into the sea to serve as the Sea God's bride, in the hopes that one day the “true bride” will be chosen and end the suffering. Many believe that Shim Cheong, the most beautiful girl in the village—and the beloved of Mina's older brother Joon—may be the legendary true bride. But on the night Cheong is to be sacrificed, Joon follows Cheong out to sea, even knowing that to interfere is a death sentence. To save her brother, Mina throws herself into the water in Cheong's stead.Swept away to the Spirit Realm, a magical city of lesser gods and mythical beasts, Mina seeks out the Sea God, only to find him caught in an enchanted sleep. With the help of a mysterious young man named Shin—as well as a motley crew of demons, gods and spirits—Mina sets out to wake the Sea God and bring an end to the killer storms once and for all.But she doesn't have much time: A human cannot live long in the land of the spirits. And there are those who would do anything to keep the Sea God from waking…Do you have a book you'd like us to review on this show? Since 2023, interest in the keyword “freelancer” in Vietnam has remained consistently high, ranging from 60% to 100% on Google Trends — peaking shortly after the 2024 Lunar New Year (Tiền Phong, 2024). This signals a growing appetite for flexible, independent work. When properly supported, the freelance economy could be a powerful catalyst for sustainable growth in regional areas — helping provinces thrive rather than relying heavily on major urban hubs. It's also a promising strategy to close the urban-rural divide and unlock the full potential of local talent. In this episode of Vietnam Innovators, host Hao Tran speaks with CK Cheong, Founder & CEO of fastwork (fastlance Vietnam) — Thailand's leading freelance services platform, trusted by over 300,000 freelancers and thousands of businesses. Originally from Thailand and educated in the U.S., CK is now spearheading Fastwork's regional expansion with Vietnam as a key market. His mission? To create meaningful job opportunities for everyday workers and empower SMEs to become a new force for economic growth. If you're part of the freelance community — or simply curious about the future of work in Southeast Asia — don't miss this episode.Listen to this episode on YoutubeAnd explore many amazing articles about the pioneers at: https://vietcetera.com/vn/bo-suu-tap/vietnam-innovatorFeel free to leave any questions or invitations for business cooperation at hello@vni-digest.com

In this episode of The Manifestation & Money Podcast Karen Cheong & Jenni discuss how different levels of frequency resonance affect the formation of matter and reality. As resonance slows down, it creates frequencies, then energy, and eventually physical form including thoughts and emotions. These frequencies govern reality and suggests that changing distortion patterns at the frequency or quantum level can reorganize physical reality, rather than focusing solely on physical actions or spiritual meditations. Tune in to hear Karens clear way of explaining things. Raising Your Frequency Resonance [00:17:05] “Then the truck will come by and smack you fully where it kind of looks more like a crisis…so for some of us, it's a health crisis. For some of us, it's a relationship crisis. For some of us, it's a death. For some of us, it's a money crisis…a lot of people have to get to the point sometimes for the crisis to happen to begin in that journey of that exploration of that internal.”[00:29:15] “And the thing is, about frequency work, is that a lot of people in our culture have this thing with spiritual awakening, especially with gurus. It's like, I am broken. I need to be saved. I need to be awakened, and I can't do it. So you're going to do it for me because I can't. Okay? That's totally BS and it's completely disempowering. You have free will. You are in charge of your own journey. No one else can do it for you.” [00:46:55] “Everything in your life, everything comes down to how high your frequency resonance is. Everything, including your thoughts, your emotions, what your body looks like, who's around you, who you get to collaborate with, how much abundance you have. The higher you vibrate, the more clearly you can manifest.” Connect with Karen Cheong Website - https://www.sphericalluminosity.com/ Instagram - @spherical_luminosityFacebook - SphericalLuminosityYouTube - @SphericalLuminosity Audio/video editing and show notes by Podcast Abundance. In this episode of Talking Indonesia, Tito Ambyo chats with the people who organised this gathering: John Cheong-Holdaway, an Australian gamelan musician; Eka Poedijono, daughter of the late Pak Poedijono; and Jocelyn Tribe, a biracial artist who connected with her Indonesian ancestry later in life. We spoke about many things, including the difference between gamelan and other types of music, the role of gamelan beyond musical performance, and what it's like to be a part of the gamelan music scene in a city like Melbourne. We also touched on a range of artists and gamelan groups, like Ria Soemardjo, Peni Candra Rini, Gamelan DanAnda, Bli Putu Septa, Desak Putu Warti and Sanggar Lestari. In 2024, the Talking Indonesia podcast is co-hosted by Tito Ambyo from RMIT, Dr Elisabeth Kramer from the University of New South Wales, Dr Jemma Purdey from Monash University and Dr Jacqui Baker from Murdoch University. Sally Cheong, born in 1985, lived in suburban Melbourne, Australia with her parents, grandparents, and four younger siblings, she worked at her family's Asian wholesale food business. Just a few months before her disappearance Sally had returned home from Beijing, China where she spent a year studying. On the night of her disappearance, her bedroom door was found closed, unlike her usual habit of leaving it open while sleeping. Sally's younger sister heard a male voice outside her room shortly sometime during the night. Her disappearance wasn't noticed until the afternoon of the following day, and subsequent investigations yielded no significant leads.Music used in this podcast is made by CO.AG MusicContact us at: weeknightmysteries@gmail.comInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/weeknightmysteriesTikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@weeknightmysteries

#299 On this podcast episode, Guy talked with Karen Cheong, an energy healer, discussing the energy body and how trauma impacts our spirit body. Karen explained that awakening is not a one-time event but a continuous journey of recognizing oneself as infinite consciousness. She emphasized the importance of releasing distortion patterns at the frequency level to rise in vibration and experience higher levels of consciousness. She shared examples of individuals experiencing physical healing and transformation through clearing distortion patterns and raising their vibrational frequency. Karen also highlighted the significance of challenges in growth and learning, stating that challenges are opportunities for growth and transcendence. She expresses optimism about the current shift in consciousness, emphasizing that awakening is a personal journey that cannot be forced on others. Tune in for a fast-paced yet enlightening discussion that promises valuable insights. Reach out and share your thoughts below, and stay connected for more transformative conversations. About Karen: Karen Cheong is an international transformational speaker, writer, champion for self empowerment, and healer who has worked with thousands of people worldwide. After a health crisis in her early 20s catalysed her spiritual journey, she was driven by curiosity to explore the mystical and energetic systems that govern our experience—of ourselves, of others, and of life itself. For over 25 years she integrated and applied deep inner work and learnings from some of the top names in the personal development space, as well as some of the more “out there” spiritual teachers, to a successful real estate business in San Francisco, California. Despite the outward appearance of success, though, she still felt like something was missing—and that is when what she refers to as “frequency work” discovered her. By intensively releasing unconscious blocks she calls distortion patterns, she transformed not only the way her life looked, but the way her life felt. Momentum really started kicking in, and life became so much richer, so much fuller, and so much more expansive. During a life-changing 9 hour meditation she experienced a complete ego-death, fully merging back into the Oneness, where everything is inextricably interconnected. Ever since that pivotal experience, she has been able to perceive and make change at “frequency level,” the level of vibration that's like the blueprint that underlies our reality. Today, Karen guides others, helping them to start to experience the true richness of life, embrace their power as the intentional co-creator of their reality, and develop a deep connection to the Divine within. By providing step by step tools to self-realization, and releasing their distortion patterns at frequency level, her clients are able to rewrite their “spiritual blueprint,” truly living in the abundance of the present moment. Recognizing and experiencing their true nature as infinite indestructible consciousness, they can finally become aware of, embrace and live their inherent brilliance. Key Points Discussed: (00:00) - EVERYTHING Is Frequency (04:14) - Awakening as an infinite journey. (10:14) - Everything is really vibration. (14:21) - Linear time and consciousness. (17:33) - Awakening without facing challenges. (21:19) - Rising vibrational level and clarity. (25:47) - Perception through distortion patterns. (31:20) - Awakening and vibrational resonance. In Episode 49 we have a mother-daughter talk about season one of the Apple TV+ series PACHINKO, which premiered in 2022. PACHINKO is based on Min Jin Lee's epic second novel about four generations of a Korean family trying to control their destiny in 20th-century Japan as exiles from their familiar home. PACHINKO was one of our 2023 "Page to Screen" summer book recommendations (Ep. 37). Our guests for the conversation about PACHINKO, the book and the series, are Kat Turner and her daughter Taylor Turner. Kat, a Korean-adoptee trying to figure out a way to spend more time in Korea, is a former broadcast journalist and blogs about everything Korean. Kat is our "go-to" for historical K-drama and was a previous guest on the podcast to talk about the K-drama MR. SUNSHINE (Ep. 17). Taylor is a biracial Korean American writer, artist, entrepreneur, and expert thrifter. She's an obsessed dog mom, proud ATINY or fan of ATEEZ a South Korean pop Boy band, and deep conversation enthusiast. Dr. Josepha Cheong, M.D. chose a medical career to follow in her father's footsteps. On her journey to become a surgeon, a fateful rotation during her clinicals directed her path towards psychiatry. Dr. Cheong's work has focused on geriatric psychiatry in the hopes of further understanding dementia and other cognitive diseases. This episode of Menninger Clinic's Mind Dive Podcast features Dr. Cheong, accomplished physician and psychiatrist joining hosts Dr. Kerry Horrell and Dr. Bob Boland for an extended look at dementia and how caregivers and family members of those with the disease can navigate the hectic holiday season. Dr. Josepha Cheong is a professor at the University of Florida College of Medicine, instructing in the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is board-certified in general and geriatric psychiatry and currently serves as a physician with the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, the Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Care Center (GRECC) and as a geriatric psychiatry consultant for the National Expert Consultations and Specialized Services-Mental Health (NEXCSS-MH). In addition, she serves as a director at both the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. One of the most frequently asked questions in Dr. Cheong's experience is how family members can identify when memory loss has become something more. “Dementia is a very general term that refers to memory impairment and then impairment of another brain function,” said Dr. Cheong. The doctor also stresses that dementia is never just an illness of the patient, but one of the family and the support structure, since the burden of care falls on everyone in the patient's life. With holiday stress approaching, especially for families of dementia patients who need to travel, Dr. Cheong emphasizes the importance of balancing flexibility and routine for caregivers. “Did you raise kids? Do you remember what it's like traveling with 3- to 7-year-old? That's how you want to play it,” she said. In this episode of the Hope + Help Podcast, host Christine Chappell interviews Robert Cheong about the topic of hard stories and his book Restoration Story: Why Jesus Matters in a Broken World. Some of the questions addressed in this interview are: • Why is it important for us to see how our hard stories are embedded in God's story of redemption? • What are the four major "movements" of God's story and what difference do they make to how we interpret the hard story we're living in? • How can we fit the reality of God's love into the reality of our hard life story? • How does God's story help us to understand and respond to urges to escape or distract ourselves from the painful realities of our hard stories? • Why is it important for Jesus to become the “reference point” of every aspect of our hard story? What happens when he's not? • “If Jesus holds everything together, why does our world sometimes fall apart? Where is Jesus when dreams shatter, marriages fail, and diseased or aging bodies break down?” • What are some practical ways the local church support and care for those who find themselves in the thick of a hard story?
