"Plant the seeds of a tree you'll never sit under.."Andrew and I explore this mantra and what it means for leaders in today's world. We discuss a leadership approach where the ultimate goal is for the leader to become redundant. This means cultivating a team so capable that it functions better in the leader's absence. What if the best thing a leader could do for their team was to disappear? Not to abandon, but to empower. To cultivate an environment where operations run smoothly, even flawlessly, in the leader's absence.A major challenge for many leaders lies in detaching their ego from their work. For most organizational cultures, a leader's identity is often intertwined with their output and ability to deliver results. This ego-driven system rewards constant doing, making it difficult to step back and move from a "must fix it" mentality to allowing people to find their own brilliance. Leaders often mistakenly believe that by staying busy, they become indispensable, but this actually limits their growth and the growth of those around them. As Ai challenges leadership identity more and more it is important to uderstand this phenomenon and intentionally intercept it.AI not as a threat, but more of a tool to create new horizons and solutions, such as helping people leave behind their legacies through stories. When discussing the impact of AI on loyalty, particularly with the rise of AI agents and distributed teams, Andrew Brummer offers us a different perspective : AI as a utility, akin to tools in a woodworking shop. Just as exquisite wood and advanced machinery are useless without understanding the desired outcome, AI is ineffective without critical, creative, and outcome-based thinking. For those who can engage in such thinking, AI becomes a powerful multiplier, enabling individuals to achieve things they once only dreamt of. AI will bring people back together in humanity, i.e. away from tech; the humanity of a team becomes super critical and will become more significant to society as time goes on.How do you cultivate team autonomy while maintaining impact ?The main insights you'll get from this episode are:Leaders who make themselves indispensable limit both themselves and their team - the book is a practical field guide to move away from feeling needed.Working with clarity, not frameworks, helps to detach from ego/identity to allow the wisdom of stepping back shine through – letting people be brilliant and autonomous rather than governing them.Rewarding managers sets a bad precedent, demonstrating individual divisiveness as opposed to cohesiveness; much better to help people find their ability/confidence and encourage them to grow and act.Teams need space to become loyal, learning and defining themselves with an intentional and transparent social contract = vulnerability in giving people trust without them having to earn it.Yielding information yields a relationship, which then yields outcome: leaders can love their people for the individuals they are, trust them and watch them grow, but this requires introspection.Leaders must allow themselves to be loved by their team; when teams no longer need their leader, leaders must have the resilience to pivot.‘Plant the seeds of a tree you'll never sit under' means: radical service, deep connection, humility in helping (younger) people, sharing your knowledge, and leveraging technology (AI) in smart ways to help create new horizons.Loyalty remains unchanged in the age of AI; AI is a tool for those who can think critically and want to maximise themselves – we can re-engineer ourselves by asking specific, creative questions and thinking differently.AI will bring people back together in humanity, i.e. away from tech; the humanity of a team becomes super critical and will become more significant to society as time goes on.Once AI no longer requires our human limitations, we will reinvent a new world; leaders must aim for a larger outcome, embracing AI, love, vulnerability and introspection to find out how to plant their seeds.Find out more about Andrew and his work here :www.andrewbrummer.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/andrewbrummer/https://www.mystorytold.ai/
From the pages of Proverbs 4:20-23, Pastor Tommy Boring brings a challenging and practical message titled “Guarding and Yielding Your Heart”. This sermon focuses on the spiritual heart, the inner man, the soul that will live forever, and the responsibility every believer has to protect, maintain, and surrender it completely to God. The message begins with a powerful reminder that the heart is the most important part of who we are. While much attention is given to the outward life, God is concerned with the inward condition of the heart. The issues of life flow from it, making it essential that believers diligently guard what enters and influences their soul. Pastor Boring warns that there is a real enemy who is after the heart of every child of God. Satan’s goal is not merely to disrupt the outward life but to damage the inner man, dull spiritual sensitivity, and render believers ineffective in their walk with Christ. What we allow into our minds through entertainment, habits, relationships, and worldly influences can either strengthen or weaken our spiritual condition. This sermon emphasizes the necessity of spiritual discipline. Just as physical health requires maintenance, spiritual health requires effort. Believers are called to pray, stay in the Word of God, and actively guard against anything that draws them away from Christ. If something leads toward sin or weakens fellowship with God, it must be removed. Pastor Boring explains that guarding the heart involves more than avoiding wrong influences. It also requires attending to the heart’s needs. A healthy spiritual life includes regular cleansing through repentance, feeding on the Word of God, and exercising the heart through worship, prayer, obedience, and faithful church attendance. The message highlights the importance of allowing God to search the heart. Only He can see every hidden motive, every wound, every struggle, and every area that needs attention. When believers bring their hearts before God with honesty and humility, He is able to cleanse, restore, and strengthen them. A central theme throughout the sermon is surrender. Many people want God’s help without fully yielding their hearts to Him. Yet Scripture teaches that God desires complete devotion. We are called to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. A broken and contrite heart is never rejected by God. Pastor Boring encourages those who may have drifted spiritually, struggled with sin, or neglected their walk with God. No matter how much of a mess life may seem, God is still able to restore what has been damaged. When we finally surrender our hearts and allow the Holy Spirit to work, God begins putting things back in order and guiding our steps once again. This message serves as both a warning and an invitation. Guard your heart carefully. Feed it with truth. Exercise it in worship. Cleanse it through repentance. Most importantly, yield it completely to God. The One who saved your soul is also able to help you keep your heart.

Hour 3: Middle East Extortion, Military Shortages, and Global CrackdownsThe third hour of The Tara Show on Friday, May 22, 2026, exposed a series of escalating global and domestic crises, spanning maritime extortion, a depleted military arsenal, and controversial data rollbacks.9th: Iran's Strait of Hormuz Toll System: The hour kicked off with an emergency deep dive into Iran's sudden, aggressive creation of a "Strait Authority." The regime began demanding illegal transit fees ranging from $150,000 to $2 million per vessel [ay2tF62fvLE]. This extortion maneuver effectively violated territorial waters [ay2tF62fvLE], triggered warnings that commercial ships paying the toll would violate U.S. sanctions [p2vzwC1kkAo], and left the fragile weekend peace deal on life support.10th: America's Depleted Munitions Arsenal: The show analyzed a terrifying logistical crisis within the Pentagon. Analysts warned that high-intensity naval warfare in the Persian Gulf has rapidly exhausted U.S. stockpiles of Tomahawk missiles and air-defense interceptors, revealing that a severely weakened defense industrial base is unable to replenish the arsenal fast enough to sustain a protracted war.11th: UK Abandoned & Nick Shirley Prosecuted: Shifting to European turmoil, the segment discussed how the UK has increasingly been left to fend for itself against Russian aggression due to shifting NATO dynamics. Concurrently, the host reacted to the shocking political prosecution of independent UK journalist Nick Shirley, framing it as a direct assault on free speech and independent war reporting.12th: The Red State SNAP Data Showdown: Closing out the hour, the broadcast highlighted a highly partisan domestic battle over government assistance. Wrecker detailed how only conservative, red-state governors complied with federal demands to turn over state SNAP (food stamp) rolls, sparking a fierce debate over executive overreach, citizen privacy, and the weaponization of welfare data.
What does it mean to be a truly compassionate husband? In this powerful solo episode of The King's Corner, Lovey goes deep — sharing the jaw-dropping origin story of his 30-year marriage to Snooks, including being tricked into meeting, a violent attack that led to two open-heart surgeries, and a near-divorce that almost ended it all just four years in. But this isn't just a story of survival — it's a masterclass in showing up. Lovey breaks down the C.R.A.Z.Y. acronym — Compassionate, Real, Accountable, Zealous, and Yielding — and dives into the first letter: Compassion. He challenges husbands to drop the ego, stop trying to "fix" everything, and learn the transformative power of simply listening.

Grace in Weakness! My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26 "When I am weak, then I am strong." This profound truth reminds us that our moments of vulnerability pave the way for divine strength. In acknowledging our weaknesses, we open the door to an abundance of grace that empowers us beyond our own capabilities. Just as Paul spoke about his "thorn in the flesh" in 2 Corinthians 12:7–10, we find that these uncomfortable spots are where God meets us most intimately, revealing His strength in profound ways. Psalm 73:26 beautifully captures this sentiment: "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Each time we experience weakness, it's an opportunity for grace to flow in our lives, reminding us that we are never alone. There is beauty in allowing ourselves to rely on something greater than our own strength. Matthew 11:28 says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Remember, "The moment we exhale our worries into His hands, heaven inhales us into stillness. Yielding makes space for a holy quiet." In other words, when we surrender our burdens, we invite the peace of God to envelop us. The rest invitation from Matthew 11:28 is not just a cessation from activity, but a renewal of our spirit, allowing us to rise again with a sense of newfound strength and purpose. As Isaiah 40:29 reminds us, "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak." Embracing our weakness doesn't signify defeat; rather, it represents an opportunity for transformative grace. Each moment spent in humility can cultivate a deeper relationship with God, who desires to empower us and walk alongside us in every season of life. Amen. Psalm 29:11 says, "The LORD gives His people strength; the LORD blesses His people with peace." Amen Prayer for the Day!Heavenly Father, we thank You for the grace that fills our hearts and strengthens our spirits. Lord, show Your strength in my weakness today, and help us to lean fully into Your love. May we embrace our vulnerabilities as sacred spaces for Your grace to work wonders in our lives. In Jesus name. Amen. https://maglife.org

Proverbs 4:20-23 – Keeping Your Heart Focus on Proverbs 4:20-23. Verse 20: “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.” Verse 23: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” The Enemy’s Attack The enemy is after every heart, saved or lost. Yielding to the enemy leads to destruction of oneself and family. The enemy will tear down everything you love and leave you with nothing. Personal Responsibility There is a responsibility to keep our heart. Not keeping oneself, but guarding the heart from the enemy’s attacks. Need help from the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and the church. This does not relieve the personal responsibility to pray and keep your heart according to the Word of God. Letting your guard down allows the enemy to ruin your testimony and steal your joy and peace. Importance of Heeding God’s Word Pay attention to God’s word to avoid a high price from the enemy. Focus on and remind yourself of the adversary. The adversary seeks to devour and can tear up your home, family, and work. This happens when we open our heart and don’t keep it with all diligence. Personal Responsibility and Holiness Importance of personal responsibility in serving God, walking right, and living right. God has called everyone to righteousness and holiness. The only way to please God is to do what He says. The Heart as the Source of Issues Every issue comes from the heart. Mark 7:21-23: Out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile the man. The heart is capable of both good and evil. Luke 6:45: A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil things. The heart needs attention and care. People are often more careful about their flesh and mind than their heart. When something not of God is in your heart, it will manifest one day. The Example of David David’s failure as an example of not guarding the heart. David saw Bathsheba and lusted after her because his heart had not been guarded. He should have been with his men in battle, but he was idle in the king’s castle. If you’re going to guard your heart, you better be where you’re supposed to be. If you’re in a place you ain’t supposed to be, you need to get out of there. David didn’t wake up wanting to commit adultery, but he didn’t keep his heart. If he had kept his heart, he would have been with his people and not in a position where the enemy could tilt his heart. The suffering David endured after his sin wasn’t worth it. If your heart is leaning toward something, make sure you’re keeping it with all diligence. Introspectively look and see where you’re at with God. Every evil thing starts in the heart. Giving attention to the flesh leads to being in a mess like David. It took a year for David’s heart to get right with God after Nathan’s message. David’s actions after getting Bathsheba pregnant. Calling on Joab to send Uriah home. Writing a letter for Uriah to carry, which was his death warrant. David thought he had fooled God, but Nathan revealed his sin. God spared David’s life but took the life of the child. The sword would never depart from David’s house. David recognized the problem started in his heart. Psalms 51:10: “Create within me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” He fell to the snare of the enemy because something was hidden and neglected in his heart. God restored David, but it cost him his son’s life and Uriah’s life. David showed up at the temple, but still fell. Diligence and Focus on the Heart Keep your heart with all diligence. Diligence means being focused and having all your attention pointing to it. Focusing on the flesh will lead to a road that will cost you dearly. Prayer is essential for keeping your heart. Commitment to prayer, getting serious with God, and opening yourself before Him. Let the Holy Spirit look in you. David asked God to search him and see if there was any wicked way in him. If you’re not praying, you’re leaving the door wide open for the devil. God helps every time you pray, either strengthening you, blessing you, or giving you what you need. Make time for prayer. You don’t have time not to pray. Our ancestors had a commitment to prayer. The Word of God is full of truth and stands against the lies of the world. Hide the Word in your heart that you might not sin against God. Give attention to the Word of God. The Word of God shines into our heart. Need to get focused on our heart and honest before God. Ask God to cleanse and purge your heart. The Word of God, prayer, and the Holy Spirit of God work together to fortify, restore, protect, and keep your heart. Three Key Actions for the Heart Love God with all your heart (Deuteronomy 6). Love Him more than the world, your husband, your wife, or your children. Seek God with all your heart (Psalm 119:2). Blessed is the man that keepeth his commandments, and seeketh the Lord with all of his heart. Trust in the Lord with all your heart (Proverbs 3). Loving, seeking, and trusting God with all your heart provides help. Consequences of Neglecting the Heart If they had kept their focus on their heart, they wouldn’t have failed. David would have gone back and done things differently if he could. He would have gotten out of the castle and back to where he was supposed to be. Need help to protect our heart from the world, its wickedness, deception, and lies. There is too much at stake to fall. Issues of life, good or bad, come from the heart. Romans 10:10: With the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. God saved the invisible part, the soul. We ought to do our part. Need the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and prayer every day to build fortification around us. When the heart falls, the flesh quickly falls. God is a God of second chances. Confess your sin, and He is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you of all unrighteousness. Each person has a responsibility to keep their heart and an opportunity every day to love God, seek God, and trust God. If you don’t keep your heart with all diligence, the enemy will exploit that weakness. Take this message into your heart and remind yourself every day to ask for God’s help to focus on your heart. Final Encouragement Every person is important and precious in the eyes of God. God has given us prayer, His Word, and the Holy Spirit to help us. The Holy Spirit will help you when you look over the fence or off the terrace like David did. The enemy wants to destroy you, your family, and every opportunity of salvation they might get by making you fall. Do what David did: go back to God. David begged God for seven days to spare the child. David knew he had lost his heart and prayed for forgiveness. When the child died, David got up, cleaned up, ate, and went to the house of God and worshiped. David began to focus on his heart again that day. There are issues of the heart that will get you. Do everything you can to guard your heart. If you need to pray, come pray. If you haven’t prayed about your heart in a while, get started. Give up whatever you have to in your life to get back to focusing on your heart.

Yielding | Choosing God's Will Over Our Own In this Sunday morning message, we are reminded that the Christian life is a continual choice between our will and God's will — and true victory is found in learning to yield fully to Him. The sermon opens with the theme God has placed on the church for this season: yielding. From the moment we are born again, we begin a lifelong process of surrendering our desires, plans, and pride in exchange for God's perfect will. Just as Jesus won the greatest spiritual battle in the Garden of Gethsemane when He prayed, “Not my will, but Yours be done,” believers today experience victory when they make that same choice daily. The message explains why yielding is often difficult. Our fallen nature, pride, presumption, lack of prayer, and unrenewed minds all work against surrender. When believers allow worldly influences to dominate their thoughts instead of God's Word, compromise slowly replaces obedience. Scripture makes it clear that loving the world — its desires, distractions, and self-centered pursuits — weakens our love for God. Drawing from Romans 12 and Romans 6, the sermon emphasizes personal responsibility in the walk of faith. While salvation is God's finished work, believers must present themselves to Him — intentionally placing themselves in His presence where transformation happens. Yielding begins with showing up, even when it is difficult, inconvenient, or uncomfortable. God does the changing, but we must make ourselves available. Holiness is explained not as perfection, but as devotion — a life set apart for God's use. Sanctification is an ongoing process through the renewing of the mind by God's Word. The more believers remain in Scripture, the stronger they become to overcome temptation, fear, and spiritual compromise. The sermon also highlights the importance of consistency. Yielding is not occasional obedience but faithful endurance — choosing God when it feels easy and when it feels hard. Just as spiritual strength grows through discipline, believers mature by continually surrendering to God's will rather than their own comfort. The message concludes with a powerful reminder: everything we have comes from God's hand, and yielding to Him is our reasonable response. When God's people live surrendered lives, He is able to work through them in extraordinary ways. Key Takeaway Victory in the Christian life is not found in strength or perfection, but in daily surrender. When we consistently yield our will to God's will, He transforms us, strengthens us, and leads us into His perfect plan.

Sermon Summary: Genesis – Session 1 (In the Beginning, God) Genesis Establishes God as Creator The sermon opens by affirming that everything begins with God. Genesis declares without argument or apology that God existed before time and created all things. Creation is not an accident or a theory—it is the deliberate work of an eternal, sovereign God who stands outside of time and sees the end from the beginning. God's Word Is Supreme Scripture emphasizes that God has magnified His Word above His name. Heaven and earth will pass away, but God's Word stands forever. Faith begins by trusting what God has spoken, not human reasoning, philosophy, or cultural opinion. Creation Reveals God's Authority and Accountability God's role as Creator establishes Him as the final authority and judge. Humanity's rejection of Genesis is willful, because acknowledging God as Creator also means acknowledging accountability. Scripture teaches that creation itself leaves mankind without excuse. Genesis Is the Foundation of All Scripture The first chapters of Genesis lay the groundwork for every major biblical doctrine. To remove Genesis is to undermine the entire message of redemption. Jesus Himself affirmed Moses and the Old Testament, confirming Genesis as historical and authoritative truth. The Spirit Hovering Reveals God's Redemptive Heart The description of the Spirit of God hovering over the waters reveals God's desire to bring order out of chaos. This is not abandonment, but divine presence. It reflects God's heart to redeem what is broken, dark, and formless. Creation Foreshadows Salvation Genesis 1 presents a picture of salvation: humanity is without form, void, and in darkness, until God speaks light into existence. Salvation begins when the Spirit moves and God's light enters a person's life, bringing order, purpose, and life. God's Patience and Longsuffering Through examples such as Methuselah, the sermon highlights God's extraordinary patience. God delays judgment because He desires repentance and relationship. Humanity's continued rebellion is not due to ignorance, but refusal to yield. Faith Begins with Yielding to God True faith starts by yielding to God's authority. Attempts to reverse the order—starting with man instead of God—lead to false theology and spiritual deception. Everything must begin with God and flow from Him. God Desires Relationship, Not Robots God gave humanity a will because relationship requires choice. He risked rejection so love could be genuine. From creation to redemption, God's purpose has always been to restore fellowship with humanity through Jesus Christ. Final Call: Let There Be Light The sermon concludes by reminding believers that the greatest question in life is what one does with Jesus. God still speaks light into darkness, offering salvation, order, and eternal life to those who will yield to Him. Nothing else ultimately matters apart from knowing Christ.

*Listen to the Show notes and podcast transcript with this multi-language player. Summary This episode explores what it truly means to belong to God and to live as vessels of His Spirit. Drawing from Paul's words in Corinthians, the conversation centers on the profound truth that we are the temple of God and no longer our own. True freedom comes not from external circumstances but from yielding our will to His and allowing the Holy Spirit to dwell, renew, and govern our lives. Through shared insights, the family veils how living as God's possession breaks the bondage of the soul-flesh nature and brings us into freedom, love, and purpose. The episode emphasizes the power of relationships within the body of Christ, the necessity of prayer for one another, and the reality that no one stands alone—we stand because others uphold us. Communion, humility, and faith become the pathways into transformation and deeper oneness in His Spirit. Show Notes • We are God's temple. The Holy Spirit dwells in us, not as a theological idea but as a present, active reality. • Submission brings freedom. Yielding our will to His produces the peace, joy, and love that true freedom is made of. God is the potter—we are the clay. • Freedom from the soul-flesh nature “For freedom we have been set free.” We escape bondage only by the Spirit, never by self-effort. • We belong to Him Accepting ourselves as His possession removes fear, doubt, and striving. It frees us to serve His purposes without burden. • The essential ministry of the body No one stands alone. We are upheld by each other's prayers, love, and intercession. Every believer has a ministry of love and edification. • Communion as transformation We partake of His body and blood not as ritual, but with sincerity, inviting His nature into our present circumstances. • Praying for one another
Sermon Summary: “Yielding – Our Will vs. God's Will” 1. Yielding Is the Greatest Spiritual Battle The sermon opens by showing that yielding to God's will is the greatest struggle every believer faces. Jesus' prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane reveals that His most intense battle was not the cross, but surrendering His will to the Father. Once Jesus yielded, the cross became inevitable and victory was secured. 2. The Flesh vs. the Spirit Jesus' words—“The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak”—describe the ongoing conflict believers experience. Outside of Satan, our greatest enemy is our own flesh. This battle does not fade with age or maturity; it remains a lifelong challenge requiring vigilance, prayer, and humility. 3. Factors That Work Against Yielding Several forces resist surrender to God: A fallen nature inherited from Adam Pride and self-reliance Presumption about tomorrow Subjectivity toward God's Word Lack of prayer and a renewed mind These pressures cause believers to resist God's authority and delay obedience. 4. Yielding Is the Path to Blessing Surrender is not loss—it is the doorway to blessing, peace, and clarity. Yielding acknowledges God's wisdom, authority, and foresight. When believers refuse to yield, they restrict themselves and miss what God intends to accomplish through them. 5. True Wisdom Is Willing to Yield From James 3, the sermon contrasts earthly wisdom with godly wisdom. Wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, gentle, and willing to yield. Self-seeking and envy are identified as destructive, opening the door to confusion and spiritual harm. 6. Subjectivity Is a Spiritual Trap The fall of Adam and Eve illustrates the danger of being subjective with God's Word. Satan convinced Eve that God was withholding something, leading her to replace God's truth with personal reasoning. The sermon warns against the modern lie of “living your own truth,” emphasizing that there is only one truth—God's. 7. Setting Yourself Up to Succeed Romans 6 teaches that believers must present (yield) themselves to God, setting themselves up for righteousness rather than sin. Yielding involves changing access points, habits, and environments so the flesh has less opportunity to dominate. 8. Presumption Blocks Obedience Using Psalm 19 and James 4, the sermon warns against presuming upon tomorrow. Life is fragile, brief, and uncertain. Delayed obedience—putting God off for convenience or comfort—often results in missed divine appointments. 9. Yielding Begins at Salvation and Continues Daily Surrender starts when a person comes to Christ and continues throughout life. Many resist salvation itself because they do not want to yield control. God's will requires availability, humility, and obedience in both small and great things. 10. Final Call: Be Available The sermon concludes with a powerful call: Yield fully to God Stop delaying obedience Make yourself available to His will Live with eternal perspective The central truth is clear: no one owns tomorrow—only today. God is looking for people who will say, “Here am I, send me.”

Sermon Summary: “Forgetting What Is Behind You, Living for Christ” A Call to a Year of Yielding The sermon opens with a prophetic emphasis for the new year: a year of yielding. God's will is not accomplished in believers' lives through effort alone, but through surrender. Just as Jesus yielded His will to the Father in Gethsemane, believers are called to yield their strength, plans, and control to God so His purposes can be fulfilled. Sanctification Comes Through Yielding Believers are already perfected in Christ, yet are continually being sanctified. Sanctification is not achieved by striving, but by yielding to the work of the Holy Spirit. Our position in Christ is greater than our current condition, and real spiritual growth requires humility, honesty, and willingness to change. Peter's Failure Reveals the Danger of Self-Confidence Through Matthew 26, the sermon examines Peter's denial of Jesus. Peter failed because he: Refused to believe Jesus' warning Neglected prayer and watchfulness Substituted action for prayer Followed Jesus from a distance Catered to his flesh This progression shows how spiritual drift leads to open denial when believers rely on self-confidence rather than surrender. Yielding Prevents Spiritual Collapse Jesus warned, “Watch and pray lest you enter into temptation.” The sermon explains the difference between falling into temptation and entering into it deliberately. Yielding involves intentionally setting one's life up for spiritual success through prayer, discipline, and obedience. God's Grace Restores the Fallen Despite Peter's failure, God's grace was greater. Fifty days later, Peter stood up on the Day of Pentecost and preached the most powerful sermon in history. This demonstrates that failure does not disqualify a yielded heart. God restores those who repent and trust His grace. Forgetting What Is Behind From Philippians 3, the sermon teaches that many believers are controlled by their past. “Forgetting” does not mean erasing memory, but neglecting its power. Paul deliberately turned away from both sinful and successful parts of his past so he could pursue Christ fully. Yielding Requires Intentional Neglect of the Past Believers must choose to lay aside memories, regrets, accomplishments, and wounds that hinder forward movement. No counselor or circumstance can do this for someone—it is a personal decision empowered by the Holy Spirit. A Unified Pursuit of Christ The church is described as a people who are “with it” because they share the same pursuit, not because of obligation or structure. When believers wake each day seeking to please God, unity naturally follows. Final Call The sermon concludes with a strong call to surrender: Yield fully to God Forget what is behind Press toward the upward call of Christ Live not by sight, but by faith Believers are challenged to enter the new year with renewed commitment, trusting that a yielded life leads to freedom, restoration, and spiritual power.
President's Day Weekend 2025 started like any other legendary Colorado ski day: fresh “pow,” bluebird vibes, and me—Skier Sof—feeling like the queen of Tucker Mountain. Copper locals know Tucker used to be snowcat- and hike-only, which gave it this mysterious backcountry allure. Now it's still expert terrain, but with lift access…and on Presidents Day, that means crowded. But hey, what's a little crowd when you're vibing on run #5, skiing powder next to Valentine's and Boulderado with a good friend, and life feels like a Patagonia commercial?Spoiler: It all goes downhill. Literally. And painfully. The Scene: Fresh Powder, Bad Visibility, and One Very Unpredictable Skier (and no, the unpredictable skier was not me)My friend Ryan and I were shredding through some fantastic powder. We reached the bottom of Boulderado, where you have to cut hard left through a tree trail to avoid looping all the way back to the chair.Only two sketchy paths go through these trees. You need to keep up the speed, loosen your legs, and blast through bouncing along till you get to the chair. One dude was sitting in the absolute worst possible spot. Not moving. Not looking around. Not reading the room!I told Ryan, “Follow me, I'm going now!”And that's when the guy—out of nowhere—decides to stand up and slowly drift right into my line without looking uphill.PSA: ALWAYS look uphill before you move. Don't be a “Jerry.” Yield to the above skiers. These things matter.I tried to change my line to the lower track, but visibility was trash: I had my sun lenses on when I should have swapped to snow lenses (don't get lazy, ladies and gents!). I caught the top of a massive mogul, went flying, landed, but my feet were suddenly two feet apart—never a good sign when skiing trees. Then came mogul #2.The left leg slid down it.The right leg stayed at the top.My legs did a pretty epic split that nobody asked for.Cue: the pop of my ACL Fired off like a gunshot (I have the video to prove it). A full tear. I also partially tore my right MCL and my meniscus (just for funsies). The Fall, the Flailing, and the Insta360 That Captured It AllI twisted, flew over the “do not cross” rope (10/10 do not recommend), and slammed into soft powder at the base of a tree. My left ski did NOT release—because my bindings weren't adjusted after losing weight—and my leg twisted way farther than human legs should.I screamed like an angry man who just lost a Mill in the stock market. It was not cute.Ryan came over the hill, saw me lying up with my heat against a tree, panicked, thinking I broke my neck or something like that, whipped off his snowboard, climbed down into the powder, and dug my buried leg out like a heroic golden retriever. “My Hero.” No, seriously, this guy is a great friend, especially since I just ruined his epic ski day. As I writhed in pain, I told him, “Find the camera,” because naturally that matters more… He found the Insta360.Another skier—who had literally followed my line earlier went to call ski patrol.Ski irony is alive and well. Ski Patrol to the Rescue (Eventually)There's a patrol hut at the top of Tucker, but storms were rolling in, and it took about 45 minutes before they reached me. By then, I'd somehow crawled out of the trees (pain makes you feral) and tried to stand on that leg—nope.Once the full patrol team arrived, they loaded me into the rescue sled for the hour-long journey to Copper Mountain's Center Village. There were blizzard-like snow conditions that covered my face in about 5 minutes. It was about 15 degrees Fahrenheit. A full team of 5 was needed to get me out of the trees. They snowmobiled me up Copper Bowl and skied me down the front face of the mountain. At least I finally got to go snowmobiling!Crowds gasped like I was being transported post-avalanche. I could see nothing, and hear a whole lot, so I was desperately hoping no one T-boned the sled while the patrol kept yelling, “MOVE! LOOK UP! ON YOUR LEFT! YIELD!”It was like being royalty—if royalty were frozen, freaking out, and strapped to a tiny snow coffin. At least the ski patrol guy even kept checking on me to make sure I was still alive. Diagnosis: Basically… Everything ToreUrgent Care X-rays said: “Good news, no broken bones!”MRI later said: “Bad news…everything else is broken.”Final injury roster:Full ACL tearPartial right MCL tearTorn meniscusMassive bone bruise on the left side of my kneeA whole lot of regret I stayed in Colorado for a month doing PT and trying to maintain dignity and not slip on the ice with crutches. Eventually, I flew home, got an MRI, and scheduled surgery for April 24. ACL Surgery & the Recovery GrindSurgery went great, but recovery? OOF.Two weeks of sleeping in the braceCrutches for two monthsPT bending (which basically felt like they were breaking), my knee twice a weekPain meds (which my body hated), but I so needed because the pain was astronomicalAlmost fainted in PT twice because of the drugs and physical exhaustionI learned Advil was my friend after the first few weeks and ditched the nasty hydrocodoneLots of tears, lots of naps, lots of gratitude when I could A) not be in so much pain, B) get off the meds, C) walk again without crutches! By week six, pain finally chilled out, and the muscle-rebuilding process started. Every tiny improvement felt like winning Olympic gold. Its the little things in life. What This Injury Taught Me (AKA: The Travel Brats Safety Sermon)1. People on the mountain are unpredictable.Even on expert runs, don't assume anyone knows what they're doing, or where they are going. And most likely they do not care about YIELDING!2. Altitude is no joke.Hydrate, acclimate, and don't push your body if you've been traveling or skiing hard and are feeling the fatigue from it.3. Train before ski trips.Strong quads save knees. Don't skip leg day. I repeat: don't skip leg day.4. Pace yourself.Take breaks. Take a day off on long trips. Ski easier runs when fatigue kicks in.5. Gear matters.Helmet alwaysProper lenses for conditionsRegular ski tuningCheck your bindings if your weight changes! 6. Ski with a buddy.Especially in trees, bowls, or sketchy conditions. My friend being there changed everything.7. Stay positive. This injury was rough. But it could've been so much worse. I'm grateful, healing, and counting the days until I'm back on snow—stronger, smarter, and maybe a little sassier. Final Thoughts: Misadventure or Badge of Honor? At The Travel Brats, we believe travel isn't just beaches and cocktails—it's wipeouts, lessons learned, and stories that make you laugh later (like… much later). My ACL tear was painful, expensive, and humbling. But it taught me how resilient the human body (and spirit!) can be. And when I finally click back into my skis, I'll be ready—with sharpened edges, proper goggles, adjusted bindings, and a whole lot more patience for the unpredictable humans around me.Until then…Stay safe, stay adventurous, and ski smart, Brats. ❄️❤️⛷️

Title: Season 5 Episode 1 – "Yielding Peaceful Fruit" (Rewire Your Brain Podcast) Summary: Welcome to Season 5 of the Rewire Your Brain Podcast. I'm your host, Liz Bagwell. In this Season 5 premier episode titled "Yielding Peaceful Fruit," I share with you a bit about the neuroscience of neuroplasticity, how God gave us way more power over our thoughts than we could ever imagine and the super easy prompts that help us focus in on Jesus and the positive things He is doing in our lives. Season 5 has two new updates to the format- 1) You no longer need to pause and unpause between prompts (this helps minimize an influx of beta brain waves during prayer time) and 2)I have updated the affirmations section to specifically target rewiring over negative neural pathways. Each prompt draws you closer to Jesus and helps you to see Him and all the miracles He has placed throughout your day more clearly. Today's scripture is Hebrews 12:11 and we are talking about areas of our life that God is pruning and areas that have yielded peaceful fruit.
It's impossible to separate the Holy Spirit from the Gospel of Grace. Unlike the long lists of rules and regulations that administered the law, the Spirit now administers this new covenant and governs the believer in love. The focus has shifted from Old-Testament rules to New-Testament faith; God's commandments are no longer carved in stone but now written in our hearts. Letting Him guide and direct us is a sign of spiritual maturity. Yielding to the Holy Ghost, our unseen partner, allows us to prosper and live abundantly.
