Missions America | The Essential Quality of a Disciple Making Church - Jon Vazquez (Sess2) [10/6/23] by Bethlehem Church of the Lord Jesus Christ
This Sunday will be our first service in the remodeled sanctuary. This is an exciting and overwhelming time in the life of our church. About four years ago, we began talking seriously about building, and through this process we have seen God's hand working at every step. Of course, the building is beautiful and more spacious and we praise the Lord for His work among us. But what I find more amazing is that, by the grace of God, we have come through this entire project united together as a body. Sunday we have a new church building - but it is the church (all of you) that makes First Baptist Church such an oasis in the desert. I am thankful that God has brought us together to carry this baton that has been passed to us. And just like God led us through this building project, he will lead us to carry out His will as we commit ourselves to the gospel above all, feeding on the word of God together, and investing ourselves in making disciples. God is doing an amazing work among us (I'm not talking about the new building) and what we have at FBC is worth passing down to the next generation. It's my prayer that no matter what state the word descends into, there will always be a place in Mulvane where disciples of Christ are made and grow strong.
Games and events are fun, but are they effectively engaging your students? Are your current plans strategically aligned to foster the growth of your youth groups into dedicated disciples of Jesus? In this podcast, our team member Mike Keaton, who also serves at Crossroads Church, sits down with Jesse Norton and Dominic Jacques, also staff members at Crossroads. Tune in as they offer thoughtful insights from their experience in youth ministry, providing invaluable recommendations for other churches on how to empower and uplift their youth pastors in the pursuit of multiplying disciples of Jesus.
CLB President Paul Larson
Impact team members Ken Adams and Lance Sumner discuss the critical role small groups play in helping your church make and multiply disciples of Jesus.“People in the church are here to support each other and build each other up. In a small group setting, individuals are much more likely to open up about the best and worst things happening in their lives in a way that would never happen in a large church service.”

We have been walking through a series on The Disciple Making Church. We have heard about the why, what, who, where, how, of making disciples, but today we are going to shift slightly in our focus. Today we are going to connect the of disciple making with the idea of witness.
Today we look at our final question in our Disciple Making Church series, WHERE to make disciples? It might seem like an obvious question, but it is absolutely vital to helping us understand where we are to make apprentices of Jesus Christ. We will answer our question by looking in two places, the gathered church, and the scattered church.
So far in our Disciple Making Church series, we have covered WHY make disciples, seeing it is God's grand, cosmic plan for all history. We have covered WHAT is a disciple, seeing a disciple is an apprentice of Christ, a “Christ-learner.” Today we ask the question, HOW disciples are made and through what means God is rescuing and transforming people? We will answer this question by looking at “4 P's.”

Message from Terry Janke on September 12, 2021
Peter has just preached his Pentecost sermon, the Holy Spirit moved and three thousand people are converted in a single instant. Now the Jerusalem church is faced with a logistical nightmare. In one moment it time, the church went from 120 people to 3,120. How can all these new Christians grow as disciples? How can the church disciple all these people with no infrastructure or programs? They did so by being devoted to worshiping together, connecting with one another in discipling relationships, and serving one another. That is the pattern of discipleship presented in Acts 2:42-47. The early church met in the Temple courts, and in smaller groups in their homes. They praised God together. They loved and cared for one another when needs arose. And God moved among them, adding to His church daily. Sunday, as we examine this passage, we will see the early church's method of making disciples and we will see the discipleship that Christ calls for each of us to invest ourselves in.

Jesus has called us to go into the world and make disciples through teaching His word and calling all to follow and obey Him. We do not want to be a church that simply aims to gather a crowd, rather we hope to call people to Christ-like living which will include risk taking, sin killing and character forming.
