    Ivy Insights

The Start The World podcast, hosted by Jack Donovan, has had a significant influence on my path in life and way of thinking. For any man who may be feeling purposeless or emasculated, this podcast is a must-listen. Donovan's philosophy and take on masculinity have the incredible power to reveal parts of oneself that may have been forgotten or simply never realized.

One of the best aspects of the Start The World podcast is its ability to provide valuable insights and information through high-quality interviews. Donovan consistently brings in guests who are relevant and offer unique perspectives on how men can better themselves and improve their lives. The quality of both the content and production is top-notch, making it easy to listen and engage with each episode. Additionally, Jack Donovan's investment in quality recording equipment is appreciated by avid podcast consumers like myself.

As with any podcast, there are some aspects that can be considered as less favorable. One potential drawback is that not all episodes may resonate equally with every listener. While most guests offer valuable insights, there may be instances where the topics discussed may not align perfectly with an individual's interests or experiences. However, this can still provide an opportunity for listeners to explore different perspectives and gain new insights they might not have encountered otherwise.

In conclusion, the Start The World podcast stands out as one of the best resources for men looking to better themselves and find their purpose. Jack Donovan's philosophy on masculinity is eye-opening and has the potential to transform lives for the better. With its high-quality production value, regular release schedule, and diverse range of insightful guests, it is difficult to find a podcast that rivals Start The World in terms of both quantity and quality. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone seeking personal growth and a deeper understanding of themselves as men.

Caskey is hip-hop artist whose recent album "This Isn't Even My Final Form" topped the iTunes hip-hop charts. Caskey has been a successful artist for 10 years, but recently made some positive life changes. Today, he aims to be a productive and inspiring influence on his fans, on other artists, and on the broader hip-hop community. Caskey and I connected recently through social media, and I managed to book an interview with him and then go meet him and see one of his shows (he's currently on tour). We talked about fitness, art, poetry, spirituality, and staying focus. Caskey's energy is infectious, and in a world where everyone seems to want to become a motivational speaker -- right now, the man just can't help it. By the time I was done talking to him, I wanted to go out and take over the world. To paraphrase "Thus Spake Zarathustra," Caskey went to the mountain with ashes, and now he's coming down into the valley and he's bringing fire. Darkness - by Lord Byron

Warming up to start recording the audiobook for Fire in the Dark by reading this grim but perhaps uncomfortably relevant poem by Lord Byron. Darkness by Lord Byron I had a dream, which was not all a dream.  The bright sun was extinguish'd, and the stars  Did wander darkling in the eternal space,  Rayless, and pathless, and the icy earth  Swung blind and blackening in the moonless air;  Morn came and went—and came, and brought no day,  And men forgot their passions in the dread  Of this their desolation; and all hearts  Were chill'd into a selfish prayer for light:  And they did live by watchfires—and the thrones,  The palaces of crowned kings—the huts,  The habitations of all things which dwell,  Were burnt for beacons; cities were consum'd,  And men were gather'd round their blazing homes  To look once more into each other's face;  Happy were those who dwelt within the eye  Of the volcanos, and their mountain-torch:  A fearful hope was all the world contain'd;  Forests were set on fire—but hour by hour  They fell and faded—and the crackling trunks  Extinguish'd with a crash—and all was black.  The brows of men by the despairing light  Wore an unearthly aspect, as by fits  The flashes fell upon them; some lay down  And hid their eyes and wept; and some did rest  Their chins upon their clenched hands, and smil'd;  And others hurried to and fro, and fed  Their funeral piles with fuel, and look'd up  With mad disquietude on the dull sky,  The pall of a past world; and then again  With curses cast them down upon the dust,  And gnash'd their teeth and howl'd: the wild birds shriek'd  And, terrified, did flutter on the ground,  And flap their useless wings; the wildest brutes  Came tame and tremulous; and vipers crawl'd  And twin'd themselves among the multitude,  Hissing, but stingless—they were slain for food.  And War, which for a moment was no more,  Did glut himself again: a meal was bought  With blood, and each sate sullenly apart  Gorging himself in gloom: no love was left;  All earth was but one thought—and that was death  Immediate and inglorious; and the pang  Of famine fed upon all entrails—men  Died, and their bones were tombless as their flesh;  The meagre by the meagre were devour'd,  Even dogs assail'd their masters, all save one,  And he was faithful to a corse, and kept  The birds and beasts and famish'd men at bay,  Till hunger clung them, or the dropping dead  Lur'd their lank jaws; himself sought out no food,  But with a piteous and perpetual moan,  And a quick desolate cry, licking the hand  Which answer'd not with a caress—he died.  The crowd was famish'd by degrees; but two  Of an enormous city did survive,  And they were enemies: they met beside  The dying embers of an altar-place  Where had been heap'd a mass of holy things  For an unholy usage; they rak'd up,  And shivering scrap'd with their cold skeleton hands  The feeble ashes, and their feeble breath  Blew for a little life, and made a flame  Which was a mockery; then they lifted up  Their eyes as it grew lighter, and beheld  Each other's aspects—saw, and shriek'd, and died—  Even of their mutual hideousness they died,  Unknowing who he was upon whose brow  Famine had written Fiend. The world was void,  The populous and the powerful was a lump,  Seasonless, herbless, treeless, manless, lifeless—  A lump of death—a chaos of hard clay.  The rivers, lakes and ocean all stood still,  And nothing stirr'd within their silent depths;  Ships sailorless lay rotting on the sea,  And their masts fell down... Eventually, as he puts it, he just "got tired of being tired," kicked meth and traveled India with his father. After his first child was born, he started getting serious about powerlifting, and eventually began competing. I found his story really compelling, and am glad I took the time to meet him. Richard Grannon has been on the show before, but I invited him back to talk about growing older without a wife or children as a single man. Some men are on a family track, and that’s great, but there is inevitably going to be an increasingly large percentage of men who — for whatever reason, aren’t going to end up getting married or having children. Having kids creates some structure and responsibility in youth and (theoretically) a sense of meaning and a support system as a man ages. Without that piece of the puzzle, what does finding meaning and fulfillment in life look like as we get older. How do we avoid the common pitfalls that lead to self-destruction? We talked about it a bit, but soon veered off into discussing current events and various conspiracy theories. Richard Grannon is a Master NLP Practitioner and life coach. There are a lot of depressed men or directionless men who are looking for leaders, and sometimes those leaders are good at making them angry. Anger can be empowering, but ultimately being angry isn't a positive long-term strategy for living well. It's "low energy," and at some point you have to transcend that. The current world situation is going to create a lot of confused and angry men, so I think this an important topic to think about. You can find out more about Pat at https://patstedman.com. The post that interested me was: https://patstedman.com/2019/08/08/defense-of-rollo-tomassi/ (For the record, I know there is a lot of controversy about Rollo, and I've tried to stay out of that. I've only met Rollo twice and I'm not familiar with his work or his audience enough to comment directly on it -- and I don't really like to do that anyway. I was interested in the "big picture" of this post.) The book mentioned was: "Levels of Energy" by Frederick E. Dodson https://amzn.to/2w9LVtS Support this podcast

I met Richard Grannon in Poland, and he's a sharp guy with a lot of interesting (and helpful) things to say. He's an NLP Master Practitioner with a psychology background who worked for a few years as a bouncer. He has a large YouTube following, where he helps people deal with a wide range of issues. One of his specialties is helping people recognize narcissistic personality disorder, and we joked about that for a bit. He's also into a bit of ritual magic, and that was how we really connected over dinner (at a Soviet-themed restaurant in Warsaw). Richard and I have a lot in common and a lot to talk about, and I'm looking forward to having him back on the show soon. Support this podcast

"Be Chad or Go Extinct" -- Jack Donovan interviews trainer, speaker, online personality and former ballet dancer Alexander JA Cortes aka "Chad Jesus." In addition to offering popular training programs and giving straightforward, non-"brotarded" fitness advice, Cortes has made the news and the NYPost for dropping outrageous truth bombs. (He suggested that women are more attractive to most men if they are thin, feminine and can cook. He's also said that men are generally more attractive to most women if they are tall...) Cortes is a regular speaker at the 21 Convention and will be speaking at the controversial 22 Convention this spring -- where he'll be sharing some of his positive ideas about how the sexes can enjoy harmony together. This podcast is a fun back and forth about what it means to be "Chad", the "Tao of Bro," fitness, the 21/22 Convention, and much more.
