Dr Morné du Plessis, CEO of WWF South Africa, spoke to Lester Kiewit about the organisation’s strong opposition to a new application by Kropz, a mining company owned by African Rainbow Capital, to mine phosphate inside the boundaries of the West Coast National Park. WWF warned that allowing mining in a national park sets a dangerous precedent and threatens irreplaceable biodiversity. The interview unpacked the legal battle already underway over Kropz’s failure to implement previous environmental offset conditions, and why WWF believes this latest move must be firmly rejected. A decent night’s sleep and an early enough start had me walking in the dreary morning. Talked about J J Green’s Space Colony One series. I’m still reading it. It’s growing on me. I remembered to put the beans on.
Na jo, Eier un Kuckucke also Vogels, dat passt je an un för sick ook veel beter tosom. Heuchstens över de Schokolod‘ kunn man in't Grübeln kom‘ wenn man dor denn över Grübeln will. Un dat is noch ni allns wat dor würkli dösig is: All de Karkenglocken ut Frankriek flücht nömli an Greundünnersdag no Rom üm denn overs an Ostersünndag trüch to fleegen. Ach jo: Morn, also an Karfriedag is in ganz Düütschland Danz-Verbot. Ut Respekt dorför, dat Jesus sick vör uns opfert hett, gifft dat keen vergnöögte Fiern wonehm de Mischen sick amüseert un so wieder. Blangbi is dat de eenzige Dag in't Johr, an den ni opfalln kann, dat ick ni danzen kann. Annerlei. Ick wünsch Ju all op jeden Fall scheune Osterdoog… In düssen Sinn
Episode Notes Lots of hot takes in our intro. Dax negging Worf. Quark's ex-wife! Worf... picks on Morn, and then pretends to be a traditional Klingon. Worf sulks in a corner while Dax and Quark talk about Grilka. Is Worf a Klingon weeb, or is he just autistic? Quark has to fight another Klingon. Quark meat puppet time! Dax victorious. Oh yeah there's a b-plot too! The OTHER O'Briens. Polyamorous domesticity. Meat Odo's surprisingly interested in gossip. Miles and Kira feel the fanfiction. Of all the male characters on station, does Kira have the most chemistry with Miles? The Enterprise is a place where people work, DS9 is a place where people live. Send us a textWhat happens when we approach our emotional wounds with genuine curiosity instead of judgment? In this soul-stirring conversation with licensed therapist Ruth Tessema, we journey through the landscape of complex trauma and discover powerful paths toward healing and transformation.Ruth, a trauma specialist whose work blends traditional therapy with holistic approaches like somatic healing and breathwork, shares profound insights about how our bodies store memories that our minds have forgotten. When Ruth reveals that her own work in school settings triggered her nervous system without her conscious awareness, we witness the mysterious ways trauma operates beneath the surface of our daily lives. The conversation takes a deeply personal turn as we explore morning anxiety, vivid dreams, and physical symptoms of CPTSD. Ruth explains how the body's fight-or-flight responses continue long after traumatic experiences end, creating patterns that feel impossible to escape. Yet within this challenge lies remarkable hope—our neurological systems can be rewired through compassionate attention and consistent safety-building practices.Perhaps most revealing is our exploration of blended family dynamics and how they can activate our deepest childhood wounds. When stepchildren trigger unexpected jealousy or resentment, it's often our own inner child crying out for nurturing. The breakthrough comes in recognizing these moments as opportunities for healing rather than sources of shame."What's familiar about this situation?" emerges as the golden question—a doorway into understanding our triggers through the lens of compassionate curiosity. By embracing both gentleness and firm boundaries with ourselves, we can parent the wounded parts that still live within us.If you've ever felt overwhelmed by emotional responses that seem disproportionate, struggled with anxiety that hijacks your mornings, or found yourself reacting to loved ones in ways you don't understand, this conversation offers not just insight but a roadmap for transformation. Your capacity for healing isn't just possible—it's already wired within you, waiting to be awakened.Follow Ruth on Instagram HERE. Potrebujemo: ¼ l mleka, 2-3 jajca, ¼ l moke in sol.

Peter Godfrey-Smith, a Professor of the Philosophy of Science at the University of Sydney, explores with us the differences between creativity in science and philosophy. While philosophers speculate unconstrainedly, scientists must balance creative thinking with the need for empirical testing and within our fields' paradigms – if you mention the “Lamarck” word at a bar full of geneticists, don't be surprised if the piano suddenly stops and everybody looks at you in disbelief. We also talk about Thomas Kuhn's tension between normal and revolutionary science, the risks and rewards of disruptive ideas, and the importance of "middle-class science"—independent labs driving innovation. Peter ends by drawing a parallel between the night science / day science transition and Händel's aria "As Steals the Morn," which describes the transition from dream state to wakefulness. This episode was supported by Research Theory (researchtheory.org). Eileen Budd is a professional storyteller, the host of the Scottish Folk podcast, and an artist & author in Angus, Scotland. After a Halloween reading about skull broth, Eileen describes where she lives in Scotland and the floods they experienced in last year's Storm Babet. Talk of weather and storms brings up the Gaelic mother goddess, the Cailleach. From these ancestral stories comes a conversation about the diaspora of Scottish people to America aboard "coffin ships" and the suppression of their culture. Turning to the macabre mood of Halloween, we hear of folkloric and historic cannibals, Sawney Bean & the 15th-century butcher, Christie Cleek. Eileen describes what Samhain is - the time-of-the-year when traditional folk commune with the spirits of their ancestors. When it comes to personal stories from a professional storyteller, Eileen tells three haunting supernatural tales, in the best of which, a spirit saves the life of her grandmother. We wrap it up on rural poacher-lore from catching rabbits in nets to a story about a famous folk hunter who passed up a shot on a stag enchanted by fairies.
