This week, Dawson from Grubb N Gains pulls up a chair and spills the beans on his jaw-dropping shift from a 300-pound teen to a fitness maestro. We chew through his life of heartache, heavy lifting, and tearing his hamstring, all while sipping our beloved energy drinks and dissecting gym culture's high-octane obsession. As the conversation heats up, we take a moment to revel in the sweat and satisfaction of manual labor, from the gritty grind at coal plants to the power of community that comes with tough jobs. Today I'm joined by Brandon Lilly. Brandon knew all too well the pressure to perform from his days as an elite powerlifting athlete. He draws on that experience to keep hunting free of the outside noise or pressure to perform. Doing hard things and reframing success, setting reasonable goals, and humbling yourself is the pathway toward gaining the most fulfillment in hunting. Make mistakes, learn from them, and embrace the beginning stages whether you're a new hunter…or learning a new style of hunting. Brandon has a great perspective not just on hunting but on life, and our conversation is a great way to kick off the new year. I hop you all dig the sesh as much as I did - thanks for listening. Joined this week by one of the most impactful guests to date, Brandon Lilly. Brandon spoke on something he refers to as "the front yard model". This is a way that he is able to set boundaries when it comes to relationships in his life. With his rich history in powerlifting, we touch on strength & conditioning, his difficult past he was able to work his way out of, constantly striving to better himself, the 3 things he does every single day, the negative impact of taking the "lonewolf" approach & so much more. I gave Brandon the floor & he ran w/ it making my job incredibly easy. This episode is filled with so much knowledge you will listen to it multiple times. A huge thank you to Brandon for coming on the show & leaving his mark as one of the best interviews to date. Enjoy. We made it! Episode number 100 has arrived. Who better to have on the show for this monument than Brandon Lilly. Brandon has played a huge part in growing my show be it from his guidance, his ability to connect me with guests, and the support of his friendship. I had a blast on this one. We discussed his hunt in Argentina, and how it has changed his thoughts about way more than just hunting. We also talk about how free are we really, how the online heroes can often times be posers, the importance of being good to people, the journey of the podcast, and so much more. "We, and all of science, have yet to understand the flight of a bee. So, to delve into ones slef, and understand that...what a heavy, gut wrenching, worthy endeavor." - TERENCE MITCHELL Today we are very privileged to have Brandon Lilly back on the podcast for a very real, raw, and challenging look at this journey we call life. He is a former powerlifting champion and is in the Marketing and special projects division of SORINEX Exercise/Outdoors. He is a hunter, outdoorsman and is always seeking adventure. Among the myriad topics we discuss, we talk about connecting and respecting people regardless of fame, fortune, and followers, and how we can uncover some hidden gems that will have a great impact on our lives. Brandon challenges us with the concept of emulating people we look up to and are inspired, but knowing there comes a time when we got to take the lessons learned and develop our own approach, plot our own path and become our own masters. We delve into how disconnected people have become from nature and the things that make them feel alive, and Brandon encourages us to make ourselves available for those visceral experiences that come from being exactly where we need to be and recognising where we need to step away from the noise and seek out and go on adventures and live in the true sense of the word. We draw some analogies and allegories from the art of hunting and what this experience has brought to Brandon's life and what it has taught him. Brandon really pushes home the point that we need to adopt an approach of knowing and expressing who we are and where we are going, independent of the approval, praise, or rejection of others.
Really fascinating episode this week, with Brandon Lily, a former powerlifter and lifetime hunter. Aron and him sit down to go over not only Brandon‘s past and his journey to where he is today, but some of the trials he faced along the way. Today is a special show, and a heavy one to be honest. I sat down with my good friend, Brandon Lilly, again for the podcast on the 1 year anniversary of the passing of our friend, Terence Mitchell. Many of you listening knew T personally, or you followed along with his journey and were still affected by his enthusiasm for training and for life; and the two of us wanted to reflect on what he meant to us in the short time he was a part of our lives. My hope, is that if you haven't heard of Terence until this moment, that you can go through his Instagram page, go through his workouts, and see the profound change in yourself as a result. Enjoy this one, and go crank out a workout for T when you're done. +1 Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

This episode I'm honored to be joined by my awesome friend and return guest, Brandon Lilly. This is the third time Brandon has come on the show so it seemed fitting we hit the three hour mark on this one. This was a topics based episode. We covered an insane amount of territory in this one ranging from bourbon, miserable people, aliens, ghosts, faith, freedom, amendments, and so much more. It was a marathon episode but I feel like there's many good nuggets of wisdom sprinkled throughout this episode. It was a lot of fun and I ask if you enjoyed it then please share and rate it!
Today, my guest has been one of the most requested by all of y'all since I started this show. Luckily for you, I was going to have him on anyway. Brandon Lilly has been someone that I have learned from and looked up to for many years as an athlete and a coach, and in the last year become someone I can call a friend. He is most widely known as a world-class powerlifter, and trained at Westside Barbell. Since then his pursuit of health and longevity have culminated in one of the more amazing transformation stories I have seen. The conversation today touches a lot of different corners, we cover; The powerlifting moment Brandon is most proud of Our common struggles and lessons learned in Jiu-Jitsu Journaling and the influence of our late friend, Terence Mitchell The current climate of masculinity This was a really fun conversation and as always with Brandon, is full of info nuggets. In this episode Laura Zerra, Brandon Lilly, and Brandon Horoho join me for a late night B.S. session in the knife shop. After a couple days of forging in the shop, eating great food, and talking about ways we as a group can help people we sat down to share our week with you all. They may have been some whiskey involved or a little Baileys in our coffee. Hopefully this episode will make you laugh and also make you think about what you can do to make your life better and maybe someone else life better. I couldn't think of three better humans. Laura Zerra is rated as one of the top survivalist in the world man or woman. She has been on "Naked and Afraid" several times. What's amazing about Laura is that might be the most boring part of her. She has truly survived on her own since HS purposely living homeless in the US and abroad with literally no money on her. She can survive in harshest mountains and in an urban environment. I could go on but instead I think I'll just have her on another podcast by herself! Brandon Lilly was once rated the most powerful weight lifter on the planet. With raw lifts of 826 pound squat, 573 pound bench, and 804 pound deadlift he is clearly an athlete. But as with Laura he's so much more. Brandon is a passionate bow hunter, amazing chef, and fantastic speaker. He motivates and inspires no only by the way he leads but also in the way he talks about his failures. Brandon is an amazing human and my friend. Brandon Horoho, the quiet one on the podcast, is an incredible photographer. He's a skier, snowboarder, avid hiker, and hunter. Brandon is also part owner in Montana Knife Company. He is incredible at marketing businesses and knows how to take a business from the ground to outer space. Check out Brandon's incredible photography on his Instagram and at Montana Knife Company. We cover a lot of ground in our conversation from the importance of having teachers and coaches that can influence your life, how misapplied ideas can lead to ruin, our internal narrative sets the stage for success or failure.
