Paul Krauss, MA LPC's conversation with Marcia Bonato Warren MA, MA LPC centers on her somatic, cross-cultural approach to understanding identity, belonging, and the body, as developed in her work on Embodied Code-Switching® and her new book on multicultural identity and somatic healing. They explore how culture, ancestry, and trauma live in the nervous system, how the body can become a "cultural home," and how movement, sensation, and body-based awareness help people who navigate multiple cultural worlds reclaim agency and coherence in their sense of self. Throughout the discussion, Marcia weaves her personal story and clinical lens with reflections on social justice, intergenerational trauma, and the role of contemplative, somatic practice in healing within and across communities. Marcia Bonato Warren, MA, MA LPC (she/her) is a trauma-informed Somatic Counselor/Body Psychotherapist, interculturalist, and author with more than 30 years of cross-cultural experience spanning somatic counseling and education, international educational exchange, Native American policy and advocacy, minority business development, and community-based social justice work. She holds a Master of Arts in Somatic Counseling/Body Psychotherapy from Naropa University, where she now serves as adjunct faculty and guest lecturer in the Buddhist-Informed Contemplative Counseling and Somatic Counseling graduate programs, and she maintains a private practice providing counseling, clinical supervision, training, and consultation in culturally responsive, body-based approaches to trauma, identity, and belonging. Her published work includes her foundational chapter on Embodied Code-Switching® and co-authored scholarly writing on the body as cultural home, and her recent book extends this somatic, culture-centered lens to clinicians and communities seeking liberatory, embodied ways to heal across differences. I'd love to hear from you - Send me a text message Healing Isn't Serious, It's Sacred and PlayfulSomewhere along the way, healing became heavy. We were taught that growth has to be intense. That transformation must be serious. That if we're not digging deep into trauma, we're not doing it “properly.”But what if healing is not meant to feel like punishment? In this episode, I explore the power of joy, laughter, and lightness in the healing journey. We talk about why some of our most powerful, grounded, and clear moments happen when we are laughing deeply… when we feel playful… when we feel safe.I share reflections on:• Why joy is a sign of nervous system safety• How seriousness can become a survival pattern• The energetic power of laughter• Reconnecting with your inner child• How subtle inner child work can create profound shifts• Healing across time — past, present, and futureThere is great power in joy. There is clarity in play. There is healing in celebration. This episode is an invitation to soften… to reconnect with the part of you that once felt carefree… and to remember that healing is not just about processing pain, it's also about reclaiming your light. The episode concludes with a separate guided meditation: Inner Child Joy Activation.May this be your reminder that healing isn't serious. It's sacred. And it's playful.

What happens when your body, the very thing you've spent nearly two decades teaching others to harmonize with, begins to fail you in a way you never saw coming? This week on the show, I'm sitting down with meditation teacher, and author Megan Monahan. Megan first appeared on Hurdle back in 2019, and today she returns to share a profoundly personal update. In late 2024, Megan faced a life-altering health hurdle: a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Megan takes us inside the raw moments of her diagnosis—from the sudden loss of vision in her right eye to an eight-hour wait in an UCLA emergency room. We discuss the power of the "meditation muscles" she built over 16 years and how they allowed her to meet this challenge with resilience instead of a victim mindset. In this episode, we discuss: The sudden symptoms and 36-hour journey to an MS diagnosis. How a decade of spiritual practice reframed a "devastating" diagnosis into a "resurgence of purpose". The 4-7-8 breathwork framework and somatic shaking for navigating high-stress moments. Unmasking personality traits that are actually trauma responses. What it truly means to be authentic and "come home to yourself". Lessons learned from spiritual giants like Deepak Chopra and Wayne Dyer. QUOTABLE MOMENTS "You get to choose how a life-changing moment changes you. We all have the ability to author our story in whatever way we want." "There is a part of you that can't be diagnosed with MS, that can't be broken up with, that can't be broke, that can't be relocated. That is who you are." "We mistake the need to enjoy the experience or the process with finding value in it." "You are not your thoughts. You don't have to believe every thought you have." We're carrying concerns about our health, our loved ones, our work, and the state of the world, all while trying to keep going and “cope” with day-to-day life.In this episode, we explore a powerful reframe: we are not broken,  our nervous systems are overstimulated. When the nervous system is living in prolonged stress and survival mode, our perception narrows. Situations feel more intense than they truly are. We become more self-critical, more reactive, and more disconnected from clarity, compassion, and ease. This conversation is a gentle reminder that nothing has gone wrong. From a place of non-judgement and loving awareness, we can begin to observe our thoughts, emotions, and bodily responses, and from there, create real change. This episode invites you to step out of survival mode and remember that another way of being is available: one rooted in safety, presence, and inner calm.

I'd love to hear from you - Send me a text message In this episode of Conversations with Ayesha, Ayesha shares the story behind The Nurturing 4 Day Cleanse, a gentle, simple, and deeply supportive way to reset and nourish the body. After years of exploring different cleanses and working closely with clients, Ayesha noticed a common theme: people want something effective, but they also want it to be simple, kind to the body, and realistic for everyday life.In this conversation, Ayesha speaks about why cleansing doesn't need to be harsh to be powerful, how supporting the body with the right foods allows it to do what it naturally does best, and why this four-day approach can be repeated seasonally or used as a trusted tool whenever the body needs a reset. She also shares how this cleanse can be gently layered with herbs, binders, or antiparasitic support when appropriate, making it both flexible and deeply valuable. This episode is an invitation to reconnect with your body's innate intelligence, to move away from force and into nourishment, and to remember that your body is always working for you.A gentle meditation is included to help you settle into trust, safety, and appreciation for your body called ‘Opening The Heart Temple'For more information about The Nurturing 4 Day Cleanse: https://theiamwellnesscentre.com.au/nurturing-4-day-cleanseThank you for listening Much love

Mini Meditation & Sound Healing Therapy with Ayesha

I'd love to hear from you - Send me a text message From Survival to SafetyIn this heartfelt and grounding episode of Wellbeing Conversations with Ayesha, we explore why so many of us live from a place of survival, and how we can begin to come home to safety within our own bodies. From the earliest moments of life, our nervous systems are shaped by experiences, environments, family histories, and unprocessed emotions. These imprints can lead us to respond to life from protection and reactivity instead of presence and clarity.Ayesha gently guides listeners through:✨ What survival mode feels like in the body✨ How it develops, from childhood, generational conditioning, and life experience✨ Why so many adults react rather than respond✨ How safety, not effort is the gateway to freedom, clarity, and true presenceThis episode isn't about perfection, it's about awareness, compassion, and choice. In the meditation - Return to Calm, Ayesha leads you into a deeply soothing experience, to help you feel safe, grounded, and connected back into your body.Whether you're new to inner work or have walked this path for years, this conversation will leave you feeling held, understood, and invited into a new way of responding to life.Ayesha is a Holistic Health Practitioner, weaving together years of practice as a Meditation Teacher, Sound Healing Facilitator, QHHT Practitioner, Colon Hydrotherapist, Nutritionist, and certified GAPS Practitioner (gut & psychology syndrome) Her work integrates the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual layers of healing — supporting the whole human, not just one aspect of their wellbeing. Across her years of working with thousands of clients, Ayesha has witnessed the profound transformation that occurs when we combine breath, sound, nutrition, inner work, and energetic alignment. She has seen bodies heal, nervous systems reset, emotions soften, and hearts open when the right tools are applied with presence and wisdom. We explore the “28° Sagittarius New Moon Searches Eternal Truth”.The 28°25' Sagittarius New Moon cosmic energies peak on 19 December at 8:43 p.m. EST (Washington DC) and 4:43 p.m. UT (Greenwich, UK). This week we synthesize with the New Moon astrology, numerology, tarot, Jyotish Nakshatra, and Sabian Symbols—a mystical imagery set serving as a unique tool for personal exploration and astrological insight. This is a very thoughtful New Moon despite most all the planets now traveling direct except for a few still traveling in apparent retrograde motion. They are expansive Jupiter, the awakener Uranus, alchemist Chiron, and inclusive disrupter Eris. However, our thoughts rotate as Mercury, now totally out of its recent retrograde path, positions square to the Lunar Nodes. Often called the bendings, our focus turns to the south node in Virgo to figure what form of its archetype we personally need to release. Because Jupiter that rules this new moon makes efforts to adjust to what values really are at the core of understanding a renewed belief system that might include all of oneself as well as in recognition of others. A tall order unless we are willing to readjust our alliances with refocused values.Joining Sue Rose Minahan from Kailua-Kona, Big Island, HI, are Justin Crockett Elzie of Port Angeles, WA, and Elizabeth (Liz) Muschett from Camano Island, WA. In this episode, Paul Krauss, MA LPC, interviews author and philanthropist Nick Cooney about his new book, "What We Don't Do: Inaction in the Face of Suffering and the Drive to Do More." Together, they examine how Cooney challenges listeners to confront the hidden consequences of their inaction, arguing that today, failing to act in the face of suffering can have even greater repercussions than direct harm. The conversation delves into psychological barriers that keep people from responding to global and local crises, while highlighting practical, empowering steps to transform awareness into meaningful intervention. Through accessible dialogue and Cooney's research-driven insights, Krauss guides listeners to reflect on how cultivating an attitude toward considering what they don't do and what they do-- can translate everyday choices into powerful, positive change. People are usually surprised when I tell them that many of my clients are witches. They wait for a punchline, a warning—something to make it safer to believe. But it's true. From the rural Midwest to the deserts of Arizona to the temples and backstreets of Thailand, witchcraft has crossed my path more times than I can count.I'm a Muslim, a meditation teacher, and a counselor.I never sought these encounters ( maybe I did? ), but they found me anyway. And somewhere between psychology and the unseen, I learned that what most people call “magic” often begins as pain, longing, and the need to be seen. This episode isn't about proving or disproving witchcraft. It's about the people who practice it—and the human stories behind the spells. The women ( and everyone ) reclaiming power after silence. The seekers trying to speak with something that listens back. And the thin veil between healing and harm that I've had to walk for years.Faith is its own armor, and I've learned that surrender protects better than fear.Whether you call it energy, the unseen, or the Creator—the truth moves through all of it.If you've ever wondered what it's like to sit across from someone who swears they've seen the other side… this is me trying to tell that story.If...yes another if, you're looking for somethign to read check out www.idiotmystic.com and for soundbaths that I can't upload here, there's always the YouTube channel.I hope you're well.

In this episode, MaryCatherine McDonald PhD and Paul Krauss MA LPC discuss the concept and emotion of Joy. During dark times, it is difficult for most to "think of joy," however, Dr. McDonald has completed some compelling research and investigation into the benefits of "exercising Joy" along with expressing the troubles in our lives. MaryCatherine McDonald, PhD has authored a book entitled "The Joy Reset" --which helps readers identify barriers that prevent them from accessing joy—hypervigilance, emotional numbing, fear of loss, conditioning, guilt, and shame—and then redefines positive emotions as those tenacious, gritty, often tiny experiences that appear within the darkest moments and form the very foundation of psychological resilience. MaryCatherine McDonald is a research professor and life coach who specializes in the psychology and philosophy of trauma. Her work focuses on thinking critically about how we understand, define, and heal from traumatic experiences. She has published several research articles and book chapters, as well as three books on trauma. In addition to her academic work, Dr. McDonald coaches individuals and corporations and creates trauma-based curriculum for non-profit organizations and schools. Uncovering Subversive Child Abuse found in Muchausen by Proxy with Detective Mike Weber [Episode 156]

Detective Mike Weber is interviewed on the Intentional Clinician podcast with Paul Krauss MA LPC. Mike draws on his deep experience investigating Munchausen by Proxy(MBP)—a rare but harrowing form of child abuse where caregivers fabricate or induce illness in children for attention or other psychological gain. Weber has investigated more cases of medical child abuse than almost any other detective in the U.S., with over a dozen arrests and several convictions to his name. His work, often in partnership with medical experts, highlights the severe systemic challenges faced in prosecuting MBP crimes: cases are difficult to prove, victims are vulnerable, and the legal system is often hesitant to accept the reality that a mother could deliberately harm her child. Weber recounts intensely complex casework involving detailed deception, manipulation of medical professionals, and lasting trauma for victims. He describes cases where mothers made up or caused symptoms—one involving hundreds of falsified doctor visits over years, which ultimately was dismissed before reaching trial due to prosecutorial reluctance. Weber is outspoken about systemic shortcomings, emphasizing that many cases never see a courtroom and that awareness, better training, and stronger advocacy are urgently needed. Weber's book, The Mother Next Door, co-authored with Andrea Dunlop, combines true crime storytelling and psychological analysis to explore MBP through the lens of three chilling real cases: Hope Ybarra, Brittany Phillips, and Mary Welch. The book not only exposes the devastation of MBP but also examines the emotional consequences for families and the formidable difficulties in holding perpetrators accountable. Weber and Dunlop offer both expert insights and personal perspectives to illuminate the hidden epidemic of medical child abuse and the often-overlooked complexity of prosecuting MBP cases.   Through his interviews, book, and advocacy, Detective Mike Weber is helping reshape public understanding and institutional response to subversive child abuse in the form of Munchausen by Proxy, pushing for a future where these children are better protected and perpetrators are held truly accountable.   Get involved with the National Violence Prevention Hotline: 501(c)(3) Donate Share with your network Write your congressperson Sign our Petition Preview an Online Video Course for the Parents of Young Adults (Parenting Issues) Unique and low cost learning opportunities through Shion Consulting Paul Krauss MA LPC is the Clinical Director of Health for Life Counseling Grand Rapids, home of The Trauma-Informed Counseling Center of Grand Rapids.
