Hidden Gem - Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch have a great Hell in a Cell match that is largely forgotten because of the atrocious Fiend vs Rollins match later on in the night. Becky and Sasha pull out all the stops in this stiff contest. There are a number of spots in this match that are incredible and unique. This one is worth the watch, especially because its one of the redeeming moments of an otherwise bad show Please leave a five star review and follow our social media accounts below! https://linktr.ee/StrangerRingsPodcast
AEW has a big roster and its one of the most talented in wrestling history. Early signees have been joined by over 30 men and women since the beginning of 2021. But is the roster becoming oversaturated? In just 14 months, there have been a lot of signings. Below are some of the signings: Keith Lee Danhausen Jay Lethal CM Punk Bryan Danielson Adam Cole (Bay Bay) Bobby Fish Kyle O'Reilly Christian Malakai Black We give our thoughts on each of the signings and if they should have been made. Also we touch on WWE Elimination Chamber 2022 and our friend Chase Oliver's AEW Dark: Elevation debut! It's time to jump into the time machine and take a trip back into the 1980's into a make believe Canadian wrestling territory. IPWF send us back into the days of barely any high spots and over the top characters. The Impact roster does an incredible job here! You can watch this one on YouTube! In one of our most insightful episodes, we cover the night Shawn Michaels lost his smile. The February 13, 1997 episode of RAW saw HBK vacate his WWF Championship in a tearful segment involving Vince McMahon and Gorilla Monsoon. This segment has been the subject of theories and conspiracies of wrestling fans for 25 years. Did Shawn fake an injury to avoid losing to Bret Hart? Was this just another one of Shawn's shenanigans during this point of his career? We discuss out thoughts on Shawn's injury and the aftermath. Hidden Gem - Three superstars duke it out in the land down under in this one as we take a look at a triple threat match from Global Warning 2002. Triple H, Brock Lesnar and The Rock have a fun match here in what is a glorified house show. The after match angle is even better with Paul Heyman on the receiving end of the people's elbow from The Rock and Triple H! After more than two years of hyping it up, we begin 2022 with an interview with one of our best friends Chase Oliver. Chase trained with AIW and has wrestled the likes of Alex Zayne, DJZ, Lee Moriarty, Britt Baker, Dominic Garrini and others. He's dealt with some injuries and a global pandemic but he is getting his name out there with some great performances in AIW. Its the Christmas season and we are getting in the spirit by watching Bill Goldberg play a devilish, murderous Santa Claus. Santa's Slay was released in 2005 and actually features some decent actors and actresses in it. James Caan, and Fran Drescher make cameos, and Robert Culp, Douglas Smith and Emilie de Ravin are main characters. This movie revolves around Santa killing people on Christmas and Goldberg plays it perfectly. We also have curling and a bunch of one-liners sprinkled in. You can watch Santa's Slay on Peacock. The Matches That Made Us series returns and we are joined by Skylar from Sigdaddy's Wrestling Show. Skylar picked the classic matchup between Bret Hart and his brother Owen from WrestleMania 10. This is a perfect example of what a wrestling match should be in our opinion. A five star classic, this is a shining moment for Owen. This match is mistake free and a great watch! This is titled a worst of wrestling but it may not be after watching it! Brock and Roman have a decent match here filled with spears, F-5's, superman punches, and suplexes. We even see a hard way cut due to elbows from Brock to Roman's forehead. Reigns ends up pouring blood during his attempted comeback only to lose the match. We are discussing some modern wrestling before we jump into our subject material of wrestling alter egos. We talk about the recent wave of WWE releases including Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Keith Lee and more. We also give our predictions for the AEW Full Gear 2021 card which features Hangman Page vs Kenny Omega, Darby Allin vs MJF and Eddie Kingston vs CM Punk. Our subject is wrestling alter egos and there are a lot of them - more than you would think! We cover a few of these wrestlers: Mick Foley - Dude Love, Cactus Jack and Mandkind Dustin Rhodes - Black Reign, Goldust and Seven The Great Muta and Keiji Mutoh Jushin Thunder Liger and Kishin Liger Bray Wyatt and The Fiend Finn Balor and The Demon Please leave a five star review and follow our social media below! https://linktr.ee/StrangerRingsPodcast
The WWF and the WCW/ECW alliance were beginning their war for wrestling dominance in the summer of 2001. Vince McMahon had his back against the wall and needed the old Stone Cold Steve Austin to return to lead the troops into war. At the time, Stone Cold was a heel, singing and hugging Vince and seeking his approval. Throughout this RAW, Austin sulks in the bar while watching the show. When all seemed to be lost, a passionate speech by the legendary "Classy" Freddie Blassie brought Austin back to his old ways. Austin returned and handed out stunners to the Alliance and the crowd went nuts. Please leave a five star review and follow us on social media! On this special Halloween edition, we are covering The Brood. This group formed in late-1998 and consisted of Gangrel, Edge and Christian. They were portrayed as vampires - or as Michael Cole put it - they live a gothic lifestyle. The trio did a lot in the eight months they were together. They were almost lit on fire by Kane, gave numerous blood baths, feuded with and had Gangrel hung by the Ministry, joined the Ministry, left the Ministry and then disbanded. For what was a mid-card group, they are still remembered fondly to this day. Edge even channeled his Brood character in his 2021 feud with Seth Rollins. We are back and talking about one of the most memorable characters of the 2000s, The Boogeyman! He's had a unique career, from lying about his age on Tough Enough to eating worms to biting a mole off a woman's face. Even with all the shenanigans he was involved in, he is still loved and remembered fondly by wrestling fans. Here we cover some of his greatest hits! On our previous episode, we announced that we would be covering Ric Flair's run as a hardcore wrestler in ECW in 2006. Due to the controversy surrounding Flair at this time, we decided to not cover that topic. Instead, here is a Worst of Wrestling episode! The Stranger Rings Team ----------------------- We are at a loss for words with this one. We aren't sure if this is a real match or some kind of awful fever dream. Either way this match with Warrior and Goldust is awful. There isn't really a match here with Warrior sitting in the ring after stealing Marlena's cigar and just puffing away on it. The actual match ends in a count out after one move. The fact that this was booked on a pay-per-view is terrible. Corey has declared this the worst match he's ever seen, so that's something! A little bit of a different episode as we take a look at six awful wrestling promos. We hear about people being left out in the desert, good lucha things, a t-shirt being too tight and a long form math problem. All of these promos should give you a good laugh! This is a different type of episode than what we normally cover. In this one, we discuss the Smackdown that took place on September 13, 2021. The show was the first large public gathering since the attacks that took place on September 11th. Thousands of people lost their lives in the terrorist attack that took place in New York, Washington DC and Pennsylvania and the emotion can be felt in the arena. Wrestlers spoke about their emotions and put on a show to take the country's mind off the tragedy. Almost 20 years to the date since this show happened, you can still feel the raw emotion from the wrestlers. Follow us on social media and leave a five star review! ECW was one of the hottest wrestling companies of all time and on the heels of two successful 'One Night Stand' PPVs, WWE decided to bring ECW back as a third brand. A lot of guys from the original run including Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, Sandman, RVD and Stevie Richards. Kurt Angle and Big Show came over from RAW and then there are some new faces... Kelly (she didn't have the second Kelly yet), Kevin Thorn and..... The ECW Zombie. This is supposed to be the debut of an alternative but it feels very WWE-influenced. One of Tom's picks for this hidden gem match is a classic No Holds Barred World Title match between Captain Charisma and The Viper! This was one of the best matches of the PG Era and a match of the year candidate in a year that included the Summer of Punk. We see Orton and Christian pull out all the stops in this one and it makes for a hell of a contest! Please leave a five star review and follow us on social media! We are discussing one of the more interesting character ideas in wrestling history as we take a look at Sean O'Haire's Devil's advocate gimmick. O'Haire played the character from January to April 2003 while making his debut on Smackdown. Fans were shown vignettes of O'Haire telling them to commit adultery, not pay their taxes, not go to church and break the law. He ended the promos by saying "I'm not telling you anything you don't already know." He ended up getting Dawn Marie to flash the crowd and Spanky to streak naked through the arena. The gimmick ended quickly though as WWE chose to drop it and place O'Haire with Roddy Piper. What could have been great was ultimately a missed opportunity. BE A MAN HOGAN! We're discussing the hot piece of garbage that is Randy Savage's rap album, Be A Man. This is a really bad album but it's funny to listen to. There's a lot of talk about kicking butt, no swear words and a diss track to Hulk Hogan himself. A redeeming quality is a heartfelt song that is a tribute to Curt Hennig. Even with that track, this album couldn't be saved. Enter our GIVEAWAY by following our Twitter and retweeting our tweet about the XL nWo Wolfpac shirt for a chance to win! We are each taking control of a soon to debut AEW wrestler and giving our ideas on how to bring them into All Elite Wrestling. Tom is giving his ideas for Daniel Bryan and Corey is booking CM Punk. Punk and Bryan are two of the biggest wrestling stars of the past decade and their impending debuts in AEW are creating a huge buzz in the wrestling community. We talk about our ideas including Punk being involved with Kenny Omega and Adam Page, and Bryan facing off with guys such as Malakai Black, Andrade El Idolo and PAC. We are traveling back to the Ruthless Aggression Era for a look at the tranquilizer dart angles that happened on Smackdown in 2004 and 2005. The first occurs when Kurt Angle shoots Big Show with a dart after a tag team match. Once the big man goes down, Angle, Luther Reigns (acknowledge him) and Mark Jindrak shave his head and pose with him like a hunting trophy. The second happens when JBL is accidentally shot with a dart and ends up acting wildly because of the drug. He gets to meet an inflatable lizard and surprises Big Show when he gets in the ring. The Worst of Wrestling series continues with two legendary teams. While the teams are legendary and feature wrestlers that will be remembered for years to come, the match was anything but memorable. Shawn Michaels came out of retirement here in Saudi Arabia to team with HHH, who unfortunately tears his pec five minutes into the match. Undertaker and Kane both are moving slowly and Kane loses his mask and takes Michael's boot to the head on a moonsault. Fun Fact: The people in this match combine to be more than 200 years old. This episode is one of a kind. We have 10 beautiful women competing for a 1-year/$250,000 contract to become a WWE Diva. This was the first televised Diva Search and it was a wild ride. We have future WWE stars Christy Hemme, Amy Weber, Joy Giovanni, Michelle McCool and Maria in this one and the biggest heel in the competition - Carmella DeCesare. DeCesare, who was a Playboy Playmate of the Year and was dating NFL Quarterback Jeff Garcia, ends up hated by the contestants. All the hatred boils over into a "Diss the Diva" segment that is one of the wildest things WWE has ever put on TV. The audio for that segment is in this episode! Our second guest on the Matches That Made Us series is our friend Mike. Mike has been a wrestling fan for around 15 years, is a figure collector, and recently met Kevin Owens! He picked an awesome ladder match between Rob Van Dam and Eddie Guerrero from 2002 RAW. This one has some really wild spots for a TV match and really moved the singles ladder match forward! Left hooks, takedowns, injuries and money prizes are what the WWF Brawl For All was all about. The tournament was meant to get over Dr. Death Steve Williams but instead injured numerous wrestlers including Williams. Vince Russo also claimed he created the tournament to shut up Bradshaw. This was not a good idea but we do see the quick rise of Bart Gunn as an absolute force with a lethal left hand. Please leave a five star review and follow us on social media! Another hidden gem from WWE this week as we see Randy Orton and Shane McMahon fight in a no holds barred match. Neither of us had watched this match before but it was 100% worth the watch! In this one we take two of America's favorite things - football and wrestling - and put them together in a comedy movie. We are taking a look at the 2005 remake of The Longest Yard. In one movie we have Brian Bosworth, Bill Romanowski, Nelly, Michael Irvin, Terry Crews, Jim Rome, Chris Berman and Joey Diaz.
