Interview by Mizzie MaxxAlt rock icons Yellowcard have released a new version of their track Bedroom Posters which features current touring partners Good Charlotte. The original version of Bedroom Posters can be found on their 2025 album, Better Days.“GC and Yellowcard finally have a song together and it feels so right”, Good Charlotte lead vocalist Joel Madden says. "I love this band and this song and I'm so happy we got the GCXYC collab. And now we are going on tour! This is our love language and I hope everyone that listens feels the love that both our bands have for each other, our fans, and for the music. I can't wait for tour!”Better Days is Yellowcard's first new album in almost a decade and first with executive producer Travis Barker, with Barker also playing drums on every song including Bedroom Posters, Better Days, honestly I and Take What you Want.Yellowcard join Good Charlotte in Australia on their Motel Du Cap World Tour, GC's first shows down under in eight years! The tour hits Australia & New Zealand, starting on February 17. HEAVY's Mizzie Maxx spoke with Yellowcard violinist Sean Mackin to find out more."We were just here celebrating 20 years of Ocean Avenue, so we're going to mix up the set a little bit," Mackin began. "We have this new batch of songs from the album Better Days with Travis Barker producing, and hopefully everyone in Australia is aware of those songs and we can play a couple off of that. It's a small milestone for us, we've never had a number one song before with Better Days reaching number one on the charts in the United States."In the full interview, Sean spoke more about Yellowcard's visit to Australia, their upcoming live-show plans, and creative work around the new album Better Days. He said the Australian performances will blend Ocean Avenue anniversary material with tracks from Better Days. Sean highlighted the single Bedroom Posters, which features Joel Madden of Good Charlotte, revealing that collaboration grew out of long-standing Warped Tour relationships and a backstage conversation that led Joel to agree to contribute quickly. Conversation then turned to songwriting and production choices for Better Days, including collaborative sessions with songwriter Nick Long and producer Travis Barker, who invited the band to his studio and helped write multiple songs. He group discussed the album's emotional content, Sean's violin contributions—traced to his mother's influence—and practical advice for emerging bands to stay genuine and outwork competitors plus more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Joel Madden of Good Charlotte joins Maroon & Hindy on Triple M’s Rush Hour to celebrate the band’s long-awaited return to Australia with their new album Motel Du Cap. After seven years between records and eight years since their last Aussie tour, Joel reflects on how time away from the stage reignited the band’s passion and gave their sound a fresh edge. He opens up about his love for Australia, what he misses most about being down under, and what fans can expect when Good Charlotte finally hit our shores again. The chat also dives into the inspiration behind Motel Du Cap — a wedding in the south of France that brought the band back together — and, of course, a wild story of the only fist fight Joel has ever had with his twin brother Benji backstage in Germany.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The rock band Good Charlotte has announced a tour down under ahead of the release of their new album. After five albums, the band split up in 2011 but decided they weren't done – coming back after four years and dropping more albums, including one this year in August called Motel du Cap. Joel and Benji Madden told Mike Hosking that they didn't know how the record would turn out, and didn't have any set plans to release it. ‘We were like, let's just make the record and then we'll see what we got. And then we'll figure out what we should do with it.' LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Andrew Ware returns to the podcast to complete the trifecta: We've discussed a Wilderness and a Jack's Mannequin song together, so it was inevitable that we would do a Something Corporate track eventually. Join us as we get DEEP on the lyrics, even with some light critique, touching on change with the times in culture, values, and why this song might be different if it was written and released today. On this week's episode of Artist Friendly, Joel Madden is joined by Benji Madden of Good Charlotte. Last week, Good Charlotte announced their long-anticipated return with Motel Du Cap, which the band celebrated with a late-night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform lead single “Rejects.” As part of their first album since 2018, the song teases a promising new chapter — one inspired by Good Charlotte performing at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in France for a family member's wedding. The record's title nods to that extraordinary night and its “wild, once-in-a-lifetime vibe. We were just there to celebrate, no pressure, and it reminded us why we started this — pure, unfiltered connection,” Joel says. In a conversation with his brother and bandmate, Benji opens up about defining success, staying aspirational, and the story behind his favorite track on their upcoming LP, out Aug. 8. Listen to their conversation on Artist Friendly wherever you listen to podcasts. You can also watch the episode over at Veeps. ------- Host: Joel Madden, @joelmadden Executive Producers: Joel Madden, Benji Madden, Jillian King Producers: Josh Madden, Joey Simmrin, Janice Leary Visual Producer/Editor: Ryan Schaefer Audio Producer/Composer: Nick Gray Music/Theme Composer: Nick Gray Cover Art/Design: Ryan Schaefer Additional Contributors: Anna Zanes, Neville Hardman Learn more about your ad choices. Whiparound Fridays continue as Andy and Brendan cover everything from the quarterback room of the Cleveland Browns to the drinking water at the Austrian Open in this episode. After crowning the Austrian Open as his "Event of the Week," Brendan was swarmed with information about the tournament and its history. He informs Andy about the past "tee up" rounds where every shot could be played off a tee and shares that the drinking water may be causing some issues for players on the course. The main portion of this episode focuses on the changes to the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup Playoffs that were announced Tuesday afternoon. Andy and Brendan discuss the removal of "Starting Strokes" from the Tour Championship and whether these changes will be enough to fix what has become a broken playoff system. With the playing field evened out at East Lake, they then debate who the worst-case scenario winner of the 2025 FedEx Cup would be. Meanwhile at the U.S. Women's Open, slow play is once again the topic of discussion with rounds nearing six hours on Thursday afternoon. Andy and Brendan then recap the NCAA Championship and some gamesmanship by an Oklahoma State player that should have him in Ryder Cup conversations. In other news, Charlie Woods is an AJGA winner, Good Charlotte is headed to Bolingbrook this summer, Blockie's angling for Champions Tour exemptions, and Bryson may have some nice digs in Washington D.C. ahead of LIV Virginia next week. To wrap things up, Brendan shares an amusing story from his trip to a diner with PJ.
