Pro Wrestling for the NES is an underappreciated classic that deserves more run. A lot of people have moved to collecting games and not playing them. Luckily, for Pro Wrestling, it is a black box NES game, otherwise all you'd remember is how terrible WWF Wrestlemania was.
In honor of WrestleMania 42 having just ended, Greg and Dane for Episode 50 look at WrestleMania 30 years ago with WrestleMania XII from Anaheim at the Pond. We have the Iron Man match for the WWF Title between Bret and Shawn, a Hollywood Backlot Brawl between Goldust and Roddy Piper, and The Undertaker facing Diesel. Also, we get a weird case of deja vu while watching the PPV for some reason. NOTE: We obviously taped this two days before Night 1 of Mania so enjoy how right or wrong we were with our predictions for this year's Mania at the start.
This week, Nick and Vaughn dive deep into WWF WrestleMania 14. The tide was shifting and it was time for WWF to officially reign in the Attitude Era for good.BUT FIRST, we talk the latest nonsense surrounding WrestleMania and Pat McAfee, AEW Dynasty, and more.--Twitter/X: [@_piccone] [@VaughnMJohnson] [@ShootersRadio]Instagram: [@shootersradio]Threads: [@shootersradio] [@picconenick] [@vaughnjohnson166]Bluesky: [@shootersradio] [@piccone] [@vaughnjohnson]Facebook: [facebook.com/shootersradio]Exclusive Patreon content: [patreon.com/shootersradio]

This is literally one of the most packed months in the history of pro wrestling. Join me as I discuss it!

This week on the DragonKingKarl podcast I take a look back at the April 4, 1986 issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer which discusses the lead up to WWF WrestleMania 2. The Observer looks at the training that Mr. T and Roddy Piper were going through leading up to their boxing match. Also, an update on the various NFL stars who are expected to be in the celebrity battle royal. In addition, more details are discussed on the upcoming NWA Jim Crockett, Sr. Memorial Tag Team Tournament. All of these events and much more are discussed in my latest book DragonKingKarl's 1986-1987 Pro Wrestling Omnibus available at Amazon.

This week, Nick and Vaughn dive deep into WrestleMania XII - headlined by Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart for the WWF Championship in an 60-minute Iron Man Match. It's… ChroNoSo! The North-South Connection Podcast Network takes you down memory lane each month by exploring one match from WWE history. This month on ChroNoSo, the crew dives into WrestleMania 7. They cover all the matches, promos, & segment from the event!
Today we pick back up the Long Form History of Pro Wrestling Series taken from my upcoming book (next month!) DragonKingKarl's 1986-1987 Pro Wrestling Omnibus. Pro wrestling in America is building toward three big shows- WWF WrestleMania 2, the first NWA Jim Crockett, Sr. Memorial Tag Team Tournament, and AWA Wrestle Rock '86. One pro wrestler takes great exception to the WWF incursion into his town when Central States co-owner Harley Race wrestles on one side of town and then drives to the other to confront Hulk Hogan... possibly with a gun!
On today's podcast, we go through the pages of the February 24, 1986, Wrestling Observer Newsletter which gives an update on the death of Gino Hernandez and the first revelation that it involved drugs. There are a lot of notes about the upcoming WWF WrestleMania 2 including William 'The Refrigerator' Perry backing out? Dave does not seem to like Mr. T one single bit. That and tons more as we build toward the March 2026 release of my new book DragonKingKarl's 1986-1987 Pro Wrestling Omnibus, a 600 plus page monster book with the most important thing that happened in pro wrestling every day of those two years.
On this week's episode, Mr Clean and The Hitman look back on the match between Ric Flair and Randy Savage from WWF Wrestlemania 8.
WWF Wrestlemania Challenge features many of the WWF greats, such as Ravishing Rick Rude, The Big Boss Man, Andre The Giant, "The Macho Man" Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, and The Ultimate Warrior. But what about a game that isn't bad, but isn't good? It's just kinda, there? That's how I'd describe WCW Mayhem. The glory days of WCW were long gone by the time Mayhem dropped. THQ was taking their Revenge engine and turning it into WWF WrestleMania 2000, and EA picked up the bony remains of World Championship Wrestling to make a new wrestling game. The end result was Mayhem, a competent wrestling game with little replay value and a barebones career mode.I'm rolling solo this week, and while I still had fun playing WCW Mayhem, it made for a tricky review because there just isn't a lot of meat on the bone. But between the engine, ranting about Hulk Hogan, comparing it to other games from that era, and reminiscing about WCW as a whole, I managed to pry a 3-star match out of our game this week. And before we hit the ring, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks if I think the big jumps in console generations are a thing of the past? What's my favourite WCW match? And where do I stand on the Pikmin series?Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 WCW "classics": WCW vs nWo World Tour, WCW Thunder, and WCW Backstage Assault.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
It's traditionally the biggest show of the year, but in 2000, WrestleMania felt more like a thrown-together episode of Raw. Former writer Tommy Blacha talks about what worked and what missed the mark, why the crowd was so quiet all night, heightened expectations, his vision for the Hardcore Title segment that got a little muddied, and we dive deep into why the fatal four way main event and the Vince McMahon swerve at the end didn't work for the crowd.Watch this episode on Youtube.Follow Tales from The Attitude Era on all social mediahttp://youtube.com/@TFTAttitudeEra http://twitter.com/TFTAttitudeErahttp://instagram.com/TFTAttitudeErahttp://tiktok.com/@TFTAttitudeEraTommy Blacha made his name in Hollywood as a writer on Conan O'Brien, co-creator of Metalocalypse on Adult Swim, and a writer on shows like The Eric Andre Show and Da Ali G Show. But, a little-known fact about Tommy's career is that he was the head writer of WWE (WWF at the time)) during their most successful period, starting in 1999, taking over for Vince Russo, who left for the competition. This podcast, Tales from the Attitude Era will be a retrospective of Tommy's time in the head writer position and the roller coaster ride that is pro wrestling, co-hosted by Rob Pasbani. I return to my long form history of pro wrestling series and look back at April 1985 from my book DragonKingKarl's 1984-1985 Pro Wrestling Omnibus. The first WWF WrestleMania has ended. Hulk Hogan graces the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine. The AWA remains strong, but Jim Crockett Promotions has nothing to answer the onslaught of the WWF. There are multiple events in Japan with both New Japan and All Japan. Things are changing and the WWF is leading the charge. Recorded 4/1/21. Ep. 278....This week, we have our very special guest The Blue Meanie to take the deep dive with us into WrestleMania XV! Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock headline what may not have been the greatest WrestleMania ever, but there's certainly no shortage of stories to come out of the March 28, 1999 pay-per-view from the First Union Center. ECW icon and WWF superstar The Blue Meanie joins the guys as we take not only a deep dive into the event itself, but a peak behind the curtain into the leadup, the WrestleMania Rage Party, his involvement in WrestleMania, icons who were involved in and around the show, and so much more on this episode. We'll hear behind-the-scenes stories from the Meanie, from his times going to WrestleMania as a kid to being a part of the event in his own hometown.--Follow us!shooterspod.comTwitter/X: [@_piccone] [@VaughnMJohnson] [@ShootersRadio]Instagram: [@shootersradio]Threads: [@shootersradio] [@picconenick] [@vaughnjohnson166]Bluesky: [@shootersradio] [@piccone] [@vaughnjohnson]Facebook: [The Straight Shooters]Exclusive Patreon content: [patreon.com/shootersradio]

Today my show returns to one of the most epic months in pro wrestling history, March 1985. WWF WrestleMania took place at the end of the month, however, during first weeks of the month Dr. D David Shultz gets fired (for real this time) from WWF, Hulk Hogan drops talk show host Richard Beltzer on his head and injures him, and Hulk Hogan and Mr. T get a fortuitus opportunity dropped in their laps with a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live. WCW/nWo Revenge is a professional wrestling video game released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64 game console. It is the sequel to 1997's WCW vs. nWo: World Tour. Like its predecessor, Revenge features AKI's revolutionary grappling system as well as heavily improved graphics, a championship mode, and a large roster of wrestlers (real and fictional). Revenge gained critical praise and tremendous commercial success. According to a 1999 article by IGN, Revenge was the best-selling wrestling game for the N64 console,[1] and at the time, was the top selling third-party Nintendo game ever.[2] Revenge was the last AKI-developed WCW game for the Nintendo 64. The next AKI wrestling game released for the console, WWF WrestleMania 2000, sported THQ's newly acquired World Wrestling Federation license. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wvuncommonplace/message
