This is a comprehensive review of the greatest wrestling trilogy of all time. We will hear no other contenders! In 1989, "Nature Boy" Ric Flair took on Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat at 3 separate events: Chi-Town Rumble, Clash of the Champions VI: Ragin' Cajun, and WrestleWar '89: Music City Showdown. All 3 events kind of sucked and drew like crap. However, the one and only match from all 3 events that anyone was talking about (and is still talking about to this day) is Flair vs. Steamboat. Your Main Event Marks watched all 3 events in full and will review the main event matches for you in detail, giving our opinions as well as the opinions from Uncle Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer "News" letter at the time. linktr.ee/MainEventMarks Learn more about your ad choices. WCW's first hour features NO wrestling matches, the company decided to focus more on Ric Flair's relationship with his son instead of showing in-ring action. On Raw, Mankind vs Stone Cold Steve Austin gets booked by Vince McMahon. The New Age Outlaws reunite to take on Bob Holly & Al Snow, and The Undertaker promises to sacrifice the Big Boss Man.
Spoiler alert: Garrett and Chris really really liked Hangman vs Swerve at Full Gear.
Just 6 days after Survivor Series 1991, we've got a shortened show titled This Tuesday in Texas. The Undertaker was only 1 year into his WWF run when he defeated the goose that laid the golden eggs, Hulk Hogan, to become WWF Champion on Taker's 1 year anniversary (with the help of Ric Flair). Now, he's the defending champion against The Hulkster. "Macho Man" Randy Savage also looks for revenge on the evil snake man, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, who had been making Savage and Miss Elizabeth's lives a living Hell for months, including crashing their wedding reception and having a cobra bite Macho Man. Bret Hart also takes on Skinner, the British Bulldog does battle with the Warlord, and Repo Man teams with Ted DiBiase against Virgil and El Matador to continue "The Million Dollar Man's" feud with his former "servant." This show took place on December 3, 1991, at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas. The event was an attempt by the WWF to establish Tuesday as a secondary pay-per-view night. Lukewarm reaction and a disappointing 1.0 buyrate rendered the experiment a failure, and the company shelved its plans until October 2004, when it held Taboo Tuesday. linktr.ee/MainEventMarks Learn more about your ad choices. It is our pleasure to give to you this interview of wrestling royalty. David Crockett is the son of Jim Crockett, Sr. who created an entertainment empire in the south, but is most famous for running the "Charlotte" territory in wrestling, better known as Mid-Atlantic Wrestling/Jim Crockett Promotions/NWA/World Championship Wrestling. He came to us to let the world know he'll be at the Virginia Championship Wrestling's Tidings of Destruction on December 2nd to wish his good friend George Pantas well in his retirement after 50 years in wrestling. David shares with us some great stories from both his territory days and his days with Ted Turner's WCW. He shares with us the anxiety surrounding Vince McMahon's aggressive push into the southern territories and television. David doesn't hold back about the business of the past and present. Rich and Tim talk everything from Broadway, to James Brown, to ACC Football, to Ric Flair at the Baltimore Marriott. He even sheds a little more light on WCW's decision to pass on The Rock. Mr. Crockett is the genuine real deal and came to us to share his story and his family's legacy and influence over the athletic theatrical art that we love so much. NFL Insider Tom Pelissero and Rich discuss if Joe Burrow actually had an unreported wrist injury prior to leaving the Bengals' Monday Night Football, if the NFL is likely to ban the ‘hip-drop' tackle after the season-ending injury to Ravens TE Mark Andrews, why the Cleveland Browns are starting UCLA rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson Week 11 against the Steelers, if the Bills firing OC Ken Dorsey is the answer to their myriad problems, and if there's more Stefon Diggs drama bubbling under the surface in Buffalo. Rich breaks down the challenges facing the 5-5 Buffalo Bills to turn things around in time to make the playoffs. Wrestling Hall of Famer Ric Flair joins Rich in-studio to discuss joining All Elite Wrestling, how he came up with his famous “WHOOOOO!!!”, shares some amazing stories about traveling with Andrew the Giant, weighs in on Jim Harbaugh and Michigan's sign stealing controversy, and much more. Rich reacts to Charissa Thompson's revelation that she used to fabricate reports when she was a sideline reporter.
