In the autumn of 1998, faced with a resurgent WWE and scrambling for a way to hit back in the Monday night war, WCW hired The Ultimate Warrior to join the overflowing ranks of their ageing main event scene. At Fall Brawl 1998, Warrior would make his WCW in-ring debut in that year's War Games match- one that was fought under amended rules for 1998, with 3 teams competing, but with the winner of the match gaining a WCW World Title match at the following month's Halloween Havoc. In addition, the Steiner brothers were set to do battle, Dean Malenko was up against Curt Hennig, and Raven would take on Perry Saturn in a Raven's Rules match, with the fate of The Flock on the line! The Random Wrestling Review is brought to you this week by Matt, James and Tinky.

Brock Lesnar grew up on a farm, played football and wrestled in highschool, spent 8 weeks in training camp with the Minnesota Vikings, competed for Dana White in UFC, and is back for round two with Vince McMahon and WWE. Hear about Wrestlemania 19 & 20, his first WWE match in Australia with Triple H & The Rock, what he learned traveling down the road with Curt Hennig, his connection with Paul Heyman, and why Brock just doesn't really like people.
This week it's another No DQ and A, where we answer your questions, including Verne in Los Angeles, could Crusher get over today, what would Curt Hennig be doing, Paul Ellering, Pat Patterson/Rufus R. Jones and more. We have a new one stop shop for AWA Unleashed merch, it's https://www.teepublic.com/user/unleashed-plus. You can get t-shirts, hoodies, mugs, phone cases, and tons more.
Recorded August 2022. This episode of WCW Monday Nitro is one of Nick's top wrestling shows ever. He recounts how he recorded the replay of this show on VHS, in addition to some other adult-oriented items on that VHS. Hey, we were coming up on WCW's adult-themed pay-per-view, Road Wild, so why not? Lex Luger would beat "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan for the WCW Championship on this night, and even though he only held the title for five nights, this show still has one of the greatest moments in wrestling due to many factors. Also, Ted DiBiase joined the Steiner Brothers after leaving the nWo, Curt Hennig and DDP are in the midst of a heated feud, much like Lee Marshall and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, and so much more on this episode of Nitro. -- Follow us on Twitter/X [@_piccone] [@VaughnMJohnson] [@ShootersRadio] You can subscribe to The Straight Shooters on the following platforms: [Apple Podcasts] [Spotify] [iHeartRadio] [Amazon] [Audacy] [TuneIn Radio] [Pandora] and wherever else you get your podcasts! shooterspod.com Exclusive Patreon content: [patreon.com/shootersradio] Facebook: [The Straight Shooters] --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/shootersradio/support

Send us a Text Message.Bob Smith traveled the country covering pro wrestling for Pro Wrestling Illustrated - but he states strongly the best time he ever had was covering the USWA in Memphis in 1991. Like other fans, Smith - now the host of The Outdated Wrestling Hour podcast - was a huge supporter of the legendary Channel 5 wrestling on Saturdays hosted by the incomparable announcer Lance Russell. On this special edition of the OWH, Smith welcomes Shane Russell, the son of Lance Russell, who recalls so many stories about his Hall of Famer father that we don't have room to list them all here. Tune in for pure nostalgia as Smith and Russell take you back to the days of the Mid-South Coliseum and Jerry Lawler, Bill Dundee, Lance Russell, Curt Hennig, and all the legends that the mat world will never forget!Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!Start for FREEDisclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. The King (and Queen) of the Ring is sometimes a thing in WWE and sometimes not, but once upon a time it was new and different and actually mattered. To revisit those glory days of 1993, we are watching one of wrestling's most quietly celebrated matches: Bret Hart versus Mr. Perfect. It's a mere quarter-final match in that year's tournament, but it's no surprise that Bret and Curt Hennig, two of the best to ever do it, made their 18 minutes count.
Kris and David are joined by Robert O'Connor (@ghostofquinones) to discuss the week-plus that was May 29-June 5, 1988. Topics of discussion include:Dave Meltzer attending the marathon WWF Superstars of Wrestling TV taping in Oakland and gives a full itemized rundown of all 29 matches.WWF expanding their house show schedule to running up to FOUR crews a night.Big tag title matches in AJPW and NJPW.Chigusa Nagayo's upcoming "retirement" in AJW.What really happened in the Brian Pillman/Brick Bronsky locker room fight in Calgary. The greatness of Ron Fuller's USA Wrestling TV show. The ongoing Nightmares breakup angle in Continental.Lord Humongous turns babyface.Eddie Gilbert, Paul E.
