Host Matt Trump (fighting a temperamental mic cord) turns his leftover map slides into a full episode on a provocative question: did the barbarians actually destroy Rome, or preserve it? Picking up from last week's Phantom Time detour, he leans on Belgian historian Henri Pirenne and the book Medieval Cities, bought decades ago as an Austin physics grad student, to argue a mainstream but revisionist case. The thesis: the Germanic tribes (Goths, Angles, Saxons, Franks) did not want to burn Rome down. They wanted in, preserving Roman civilization under new rulers, feudalism, and above all the Church, which outlived the state. What truly severed the ancient world, Pirenne argues, was the Arab conquest cutting Christian Europe off from Mediterranean commerce, shifting Europe's center of gravity north. Expect Hagia Sophia, Ravenna mosaics, Justinian, and pointed parallels to whether America is reliving Rome's fall.

Labor Secretary under President Clinton Robert Reich discusses the tariffs between the U.S. and Canada and AI's impact on the workforce, as well as wealth taxes, the rise of populism in the U.S., and the K-shaped economy that he says is driving them both. One of the largest hurdles for AI and the data center race is power. Emerald AI CEO Varun Sivaram has built a solution in flexible power sourcing to ease strain on the grid, and backers like Samsung, Nvidia, and Salesforce have bet on his success. So let me take you behind the scenes and play out a conversation that happens on repeat with my clients. They'll say to me: “But Tahryn, I feel like I'm repeating myself and saying the same thing again and again and again.”My response: “Yeah, that's kinda the point”And while I'd love to do a mic drop and make this the quickest episode in How I Do Content Podcast history…Obviously I'm going to explain myself and tell you why repeating your messaging isn't a bad thing, in fact it's actually essential if you want it to have the intended impact – attracting Beyonce-level clients on repeat. So if you're feeling like your messaging is getting a little repetitive and you'd rather cast The Cruciatus Curse than talk about your offer one more time – you need to keep listening. Fonzie is back. And he came back with the thing every creator feels but nobody says out loud... "I already posted about this." You wake up. You know you have to publish. The idea shows up. And then that voice: wait, I said this already. It's an exhausting loop, and it's the reason most people quit before the content ever works. Here's what we get into: it started with a guitar lesson. Fonzie told his teacher he keeps falling into the same riff. The answer he got flipped the whole thing, and it connects straight back to one of the first phrases we ever coined on this show. Then we break down three ways to deliver the same message without burning out. Customer journey. Angles. Formats. Plus the real client ad we reviewed this week, the one metric that actually matters (it is not views), and the part nobody talks about... whether you and your team actually enjoy any of this. Pick one. Run it 30 days.

So we need to have a frank discussionAnd you're probably not going to like what I say, but it needs to be said because I care about you and I want to see you win.But right now, you're doing something that's actually stopping you from winning. You're using AI to write your content. And I get it – your biggest barrier to creating content is time. I hear it all the time. You don't have the time to create content. There's people like me telling you that to attract clients you need to create content consistently. So when you find something that genuinely saves you time, you use it. But using AI to create your content isn't saving you time – it's actually costing you time. So in today's episode of the How I Do Content Podcast, I'm going to walk you through exactly where those hours are going AND how you can save time on your content without AI writing it for you. 98% of business owners tell me they want to make more sales…But when I actually look at their messaging (and the by-product of this, their marketing) – it's not optimised to help them make more sales or stand out in the current landscape filled with AI slop. And when you feel like you're doing all the things you should be doing (showing up, talking about your offer, promoting it consistently) – it can feel frustrating when you're not seeing that effort rewarded in your cash flow. But that's also the problem – you're focusing on the wrong things.More content doesn't mean more sales and more leads doesn't mean more sales…Because ultimately what leads to more sales is messaging that moves your ideal client from first discovering you to deciding to buy from you. So content creation and lead generation without good messaging is a big fat waste of time. You'll forever find yourself doing all the “right things” but never seeing it flow through to your bank account. So how can you fix this? Well I'm glad you asked! In today's episode of the How I Do Content Podcast, I'm sharing 10 messaging tweaks to help you make more sales. What can I say?! I'm a wizard of the people, so I'm giving you what you want – more sales! Think your story has already been covered? That doesn't mean you've missed your chance to get featured.I recently interviewed veteran TV correspondent Amy Goodman, whose 25 years in media include work with shows like Good Morning America, The View, Rachael Ray, and Kelly and Mark. She shared one simple piece of pitching advice that was so good, I had to share it with you.The lesson? Don't pitch a journalist the exact story they just covered. Find the adjacent angle that extends the conversation. In this episode, I break down how small business owners, product founders, and experts can find fresh PR angles without constantly reinventing the wheel. You'll learn how to turn one topic into multiple media opportunities by connecting your expertise or business to trends, seasons, data, research, policy changes, consumer behavior, and your own unique point of view.In this episode, you'll learn:✨ Why pitching the same angle a journalist just covered usually doesn't work✨ How to find an adjacent story angle instead of starting from scratch✨ How product founders and experts can connect their businesses to timely trends✨ Why even “obvious” topics can still earn major media coverage✨ How to use seasonal, data-driven, regulatory, and trend-based hooks to keep pitching all year longYour story doesn't have to be completely new. It needs a relevant perspective, a timely reason to care, and your willingness to press send.Want help finding and pitching the stories hiding inside your business? This July, I'm celebrating my 40th birthday by giving new Get Featured PR Accelerator members over $1,000 in exclusive Birthday Bonuses when they join by July 31. 3e étape du Tour ce lundi et première étape de montagne.

Seven years ago I put on my wizard cloak and stepped into The Social Bolt for Day 1 of running my own business. On that day, I fulfilled my dream of becoming a stay-at-home dog mum. And over the last seven years I've experienced some epic highs and equally epic lows but I'm still here 7 years later – and that needs to be fucking celebrated. So in today's episode of the How I Do Content Podcast, I'm going back through every single year of this business and sharing some of the lessons that defined it – the things I learned, lived, loved and loathed. CALLBACKS AND COMEBACKS. TV critic Diana Keng reviewed Star Trek: Lower Decks through its first four seasons and jumps back in to reviewing season five right here on this week's Trek Marry Kill. The two episodes being judged embody some classic TV tropes: the backdoor pilot episode and the new young character inserted late in a show's run to show how far our characters have come. We're here to talk about fishing angles. Are you wading upstream or down? And are you casting upstream or down? What's your preference? Why do you make that decision? When, if ever does it change? And does your casting direction always follow your wading direction?Sometimes, these preferences seem regional, while other times it's specifically about the tactic -- meaning that swinging wet flies, for example, suits a downstream approach best. But sometimes, angle choice seems more like tradition, and many anglers simply fish a certain way because their Dad did. Most of us at Troutbitten look at things objectively.
