While certainly not the strongest of the Attitude Era WrestleManias, this March evening in Chicago, in 1997, would forever change the landscape of WWE. It was a night that saw the Undertaker win the WWF Championship for the first time in six years. It was also a night that saw a wild Street Fight between Chicago's favorite sons, the Legion of Doom, teaming up with Ahmed Johnson, to tangle with the Nation of Domination. On this evening, Rocky Maivia would make his WrestleMania debut and would share a WrestleMania moment with his father, Rocky Johnson. But, all of those pales in comparison to one of the greatest matches in WrestleMania history as Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bret "Hitman" Hart squared off in a brutal submission match, that would culminate in the most famous double turn in pro wrestling history. Anxiety doesn't always show up when something goes wrong. Sometimes it hits hardest when nothing's happening at all. Sitting in the bunk at Ravensworth (Hunter Valley) with the UHF crackling and a two-hour wait ahead of me, my brain starts running wild, replaying mistakes that haven't happened, imagining consequences, and convincing me they're inevitable.In this episode I talk about catastrophising—that classic anxiety trap where your mind treats imagined disasters as reality. I explain why logic and CBT can help me realise there's no evidence for what I'm fearing, but often don't switch off the physical anxiety. When the situation is a one out of ten but your anxiety is sitting at a nine, that mismatch can make an ordinary workday feel unbearable.I also share one coping strategy that genuinely helps me: borrowing confidence from people I admire. Whether it's listening to someone like Stone Cold Steve Austin or reminding myself how they'd approach the situation, it can be enough to interrupt the spiral and keep moving forward.If you're living with anxiety, depression, or both, I hope this episode reminds you that you're not alone. Takeaways: New teachers, save your money. Highlighters, fancy turn-in baskets, and elaborate organizational systems are mostly overrated. Focus your energy on a bathroom-pass system you'll actually use. The most underrated new-teacher skill is teaching classroom routines on purpose. If kids walk in wrong, make them walk in again. They'll be annoyed, but it works. The "everyone else has it together" myth is a lie. Even veteran teachers are pivoting, guessing, and occasionally throwing on Shark Tank when the copies didn't get made. Year seven is when you officially become a veteran teacher, with bonus dog years for anyone who taught through the pandemic or wore multiple hats early in their career.
