Após a anunciação do anjo Gabriel sobre o nascimento de Jesus, Maria visita sua parente Isabel, que estava grávida de João Batista. Ao ouvir a saudação de Maria, Isabel é possuída pelo Espírito Santo e profetiza, louvando Maria e reconhecendo a importância do filho que ela carrega. O sermão enfatiza que, mesmo antes do Pentecostes, o Espírito Santo já atuava enchendo e capacitando pessoas específicas como Isabel, João Batista, Zacarias e Simeão. Essa atuação, contudo, se intensificou após o Pentecostes, quando o Espírito Santo passou a habitar permanentemente em todos os crentes, dando-lhes dons espirituais e capacitando-os para o serviço.
