Listeners of The Ask Your Oldhead Podcast that love the show mention: justice,The Ask Your Oldhead Podcast is a truly remarkable and thought-provoking show that provides deep and interesting conversations with Black men from all walks of life in Portland. In these conversations, listeners are able to gain amazing insights into what it looks like and feels like to live and navigate a full and vibrant life amidst the systemic racism that exists in Portland. The timing of this podcast is incredibly important, as it provides much-needed perspective during a critical moment in history.
One of the best aspects of The Ask Your Oldhead Podcast is the candid and diverse nature of the conversations. As a young man in his 30s with two kids, I have found great value in hearing the perspectives of these brothers. It feels as though I am sitting in a barbershop or just chilling at a cookout, engaging in conversations about music, love, commitment, race, business, politics, education, economics - essentially all aspects of life as a Black man in America. These discussions have been affirming and encouraging for me personally, making me feel seen and heard.
On the other hand, it is important to acknowledge that there may be some challenging aspects to this podcast. Given the topic of systemic racism and its impact on Black lives in Portland, it can be emotionally heavy for some listeners. The stories shared can be difficult to hear at times, but it is through these discomforting moments that growth and understanding can occur.
Overall, The Ask Your Oldhead Podcast serves as an invaluable platform for justice and awareness. Host Justice uses this space to amplify the voices and experiences of Black men living in Portland's Pacific Northwest region. It not only educates listeners about the realities faced by these individuals but also inspires empathy and action. This podcast leaves a lasting impact on its audience by providing an opportunity for personal growth while contributing to societal change.
In conclusion, I am grateful for Justice's use of this platform to shed light on important issues surrounding race and systemic racism. The Ask Your Oldhead Podcast has made me a better person, broadening my understanding of the experiences of Black men in Portland. With its profound insights and timely content, this podcast deserves recognition for the important work it is doing during this pivotal moment in history. Peace.
