I recently spent a week in Austria, bouncing between my grandparents' farmhouse and the alpine trails I grew up on. And it hit me how stark the contrast is between the foundation they built and the environment kids are growing up in today. My grandparents are 92 and 93, still living on their own. They had decades of clean food, pure alpine water, long days outside and zero WiFi. And then, over the last 10-20 years, an Americanized creep of seed oils, ultra-processed snacks and glyphosate started showing up in force. Fortunately, for my grandparents, their health trajectory was already set. But the sad reality is that today's Austria looks a lot more like the U.S. than the one I left in 2007. You see it in the soda cases and packaged snacks; in childhood obesity, which simply wasn't common when I was a kid; and in the push for convenience over quality. On paper, the cardiovascular stats are surprising, with heart issues accounting for about a third of Austrian deaths vs roughly a fifth in the U.S. But context matters. Life expectancy is higher in Austria, smoking remains far more prevalent, alcohol is a daily staple for many, and coding practices differ. And while European rules do more to keep out junk — i.e., no drug ads to consumers, tighter oversight of additives, a precautionary approach — you still find head-scratchers like the EU's renewed glyphosate approval, and the official dietary guidance in Austria is every bit as misguided as America's: more grains, less meat, avoid saturated fat. Meanwhile, the water story flips the other way; Austria's alpine spring water really is great, while here I won't drink unfiltered tap water. The throughline I keep coming back to is the environment. Austrians still walk and bike more, take real vacations and spend time outside. But the trend is heading in the wrong direction. My takeaway for both sides of the Atlantic is the same: don't wait for guidelines or brands to save you. Vote with your fork and your feet. Buy directly from farmers when you can. Filter your water. Create a home rhythm that makes movement and sunlight normal. Ignore food-industry talking points. And recreate the conditions humans have traditionally thrived in, focusing on better food, cleaner water and more time outside. If that resonates, start small this week. Audit what's in your pantry, pick one item you can swap for a simpler version, take your next meeting while on a walk, and move dinner earlier so your sleep isn't collateral damage. Then share this episode with a friend who still thinks “Europe is automatically healthier” or that “America is too far gone.” The future isn't predetermined; it's built choice by choice. In this episode, The Dads speak with Jeremy Pinnell, a country music dad from Elsmere, Kentucky. Jeremy released his first full-length album in 2014 on SofaBurn Records, featuring a collection of songs that draw from his life to tell a truly country story. Jeremy recently released brand new singles “Save You” and “Come Home to Me.” He joined the Dads to talk about family, finding balance and all sorts of other topics on this episode. Show Notes: 2:00 - Jeremy's music seems highly biographical, but he gets into his roots and family background that shaped his musical approach and personal experience. 5:15 - The stories in Jeremy's music feel true. And that is something that resonates with him. Story songs have always resonated with Jeremy, and he believes other folks like them too because they want to experience others and “feel uncomfortable.” In the discussion of “Feel This Right,” Jeremy notes that the story is true -- perhaps. 8:38 - Jeremy discusses how his experiences and drug use influenced his earlier writing. He goes on to say that he doesn't discuss these songs with his son as he wants to allow him to just be a kid, something that he didn't have the opportunity to do in many cases. 11:02 - A discussion of the push and pull of home and the road -- Jeremy started touring about the same time his son was born. It's getting harder as he grows up, but he still needs to balance the pull of the road. 12:40 - Donnie brings up the ideas of “I Don't Believe” about religion, being a good person and other issues. Jeremy explains that he was looking for something when he wrote that song, and he's still not sure why, but it has become a study of being content where you are in life. 15:05 - Jeremy talks Jiu-Jitsu, getting his ass kicked and finding balance in being uncomfortable. 18:31 - Work makes Jeremy happy. He shares that enjoyment on socials, but it's more about sharing what he enjoys, not some desire to prove his country credentials. For the Dads and Jeremy, work provides a counterbalance to chaos that is always rewarding. 21:09 - When talking about balancing inspirations, Jeremy told the Dads about the rules about not talking about the venue until you are three miles down the road with the windows up. And that gave birth to a great idea -- and that is sort of how that happens. 24:00 - The story of the “Save You” music video. 26:38 - The new singles from Jeremy were produced by Shooter Jennings. The studio process was about highlighting the song and making it as strong as it could be, Jeremy explains. 28:45 - The Dad Life Sound Check is coming in hard with Jeremy leaning into silence. A nice shift. Donnie and Dave have songs. Thank you for listening. The best way to support us is to subscribe to the show on Spotify, Apple podcasts, or whatever podcast platform you use. No One Is Coming to Save You is a powerful reminder that the life you're waiting for won't arrive on its own. In this episode, Eddie shares the hard truth he learned after years of waiting for clarity, courage, or the perfect moment: no mentor, no miracle, no magic is coming. He wasn't waiting for timing, he was waiting for permission. Through raw storytelling, he reminds us that the door to purpose and transformation only opens from the inside. If you've been waiting for a sign, this is it. In this solo episode, I break down a common but costly mistake most golfers make: confusing mental game strategies with mindset training. Though both live between your ears, they are wildly different—and both are required to break through the frustration plateau and play to your full potential. I'll discuss how mental game strategies—like breath work, visualization, and pre-shot routines—are powerful, but only surface-level tools. If your identity is riddled with self-doubt, fear of judgment, or an “I'm not good enough” belief system, no amount of deep breathing can save your scorecard. This episode is packed with real talk, powerful analogies (like club vs. swing and the shattered mindset vase), and a surprising case for the one habit that will skyrocket your mindset faster than anything else: fitness. In this podcast, you'll learn: The key difference between the golf mental game and mindset training Why mental game tactics are necessary but not sufficient How identity-level beliefs sabotage your performance The real reason you skip steps you know you need to take Why knowledge alone isn't power—only action is How exercise is the ultimate mindset training tool Why lasting change requires going beneath the surface Whether you're stuck in a cycle of two steps forward, three steps back—or ready to go beyond surface fixes—this episode will show you exactly what's been missing from your training and how to reclaim control of your results. Instagram: @thegolfhypnotherapist Twitter: @parsoverbogeys Key Takeaways: Mental game strategies are like clubs—you need the right one for each shot. Mindset training is your swing foundation—if that's broken, no club can help. You can't breathe your way out of a belief that you're not good enough. Dopamine-chasing golf hacks feel productive but keep you stuck. Your subconscious deploys sabotage when success feels unsafe. Lasting change requires addressing the root, not the symptoms. Fitness is the fastest, most effective way to train your mindset daily. Key Quotes: “You can't breathe your way out of a belief system that's been running your life.” “The best pre-shot routine in the world won't fix a fractured identity.” “Mindset training answers the question: Why don't I do what I know I need to do?” “Mental game training is like club selection. Mindset is your swing.” “Reading feels productive—but without action, it's just dopamine.” “Fitness is intentional discomfort—it's the gym where mental toughness is built.” “If you want to expand, you have to expand—starting with how much discomfort you can handle.” Time Stamps: 00:00: Why “Mindset” Matters More Than “Mental Game” 02:25: The Hidden Mistake Keeping You Stuck 04:52: What the Mental Game Really Is 07:09: Mental Game Tactics: Helpful but Limited 09:17: What Mindset Training Actually Targets 10:44: Why You Don't Do What You Know You Should 13:08: Club vs. Swing: A Game-Changing Analogy 15:12: Mind Over Feelings in Life and Golf 18:01: The Dopamine Trap of Mental Game Tips 20:32: Why Affirmations Alone Won't Save You 22:20: How Fear Sabotages You from the Inside 24:18: Using Hypnosis to Rewire Beliefs 26:25: The Vase Analogy: Rebuilding Your Identity 28:36: The #1 Way to Train Your Mindset 29:49: Discomfort Is the Gateway to Growth 32:01: Fit Body, Strong Mind: Why It Matters 34:13: Final Thoughts + Your Next Action Step
Building Resiliance with Agile2025 Keynote Speaker Tricia Broderick Dave Prior interviews Tricia Broderick for the Agile 2025 pre-conference, focusing on her keynote on building resilience. Tricia discusses the challenges of the current job market, including high unemployment and overworked employees. She emphasizes the importance of resilience and community support. Tricia also highlights the upcoming AI Readiness for Professionals course, starting August 6, which aims to help professionals stay competitive in an AI-driven world. In the intervening four years since Olly Knights first joined me, the band has been on something of a creative roll; two fine albums, a successful acoustic tour and something of a collective raising of the game. To my mind, this is how established bands of longevity should operate; to hell with the mainstream and gatekeepers, just do the very best work you can and keep those fans happy. The new Turin Brakes album Spacehopper saw the band going back to the start - recording the album at Konk, the recording studio founded by The Kinks in 1973 and where Turin Brakes recorded their classic debut The Optimist. This of course, was in contrast to the homely recording of post-pandemic Wide Eyed Nowhere, still a fine record but very different in character to Spacehopper. This time around too, the lead single from the new album, “The Message”, had some much deserved radio play on BBC Radio 2. But still, no hits to speak of, and the album reached the UK chart for just a fleeting moment. A hit would be nice for this band, but Ollie Knights remains more philosophical than ever:“You take the wins where you can. Our happiness levels are less influenced by “success” in the mainstream areas. We've finally learned after decades of smashing up against the wall. We get over it very quickly if something is disappointing in the mainstream realm. That's the bit you were not thinking about when you were dreaming about a career in music as a kid”. Indeed. For bands of Quiet Legend, still making excellent records and blowing the roof off venues live - it's time to build your own momentum. There's a lot to learn from Turin Brakes. To be contrarian for a moment though, this band may still get their moment. When you consider that those early classic hits (remember “Pain Killer” was a top five UK hit in the summer of 2003, whilst the band's first chart single “The Underdog (Save Me)” has become an evergreen classic) are still relatively understreamed. The band's biggest song on Spotify remains the 2016 ballad Save You with just over seven million streams. Sooner or later, that is bound to change, but until it does, the band continues to thrive organically, with or without the accolades. Their momentum is such that they are back in a place where it's still exciting after 25 years. “There is always something on the workbench. The chemistry between me and Gale and between the four of us - without those relationships, forget it. We look forward to getting together and playing, we're excited about it. And when people come to see us live it's as if they want to come and watch the relationships happen”. Turin Brakes are the indie folk band that rocks. Good luck to them.Support the showGet more related content at: https://www.songsommelier.com/

Planning a job is one thing—getting it through the shop without chaos is something else entirely. In part two of our Managing Orders series, we move beyond quoting and scheduling to the messy reality of production: where kitting falls short, setups go long, expectations don't match reality, and quality gets squeezed when time runs out. We've seen it happen. A setup that was budgeted for two hours takes six. Why? Because the job wasn't kitted right. Because the estimator used wishful thinking. Because no one raised their hand when they knew the target was off. It's not just frustrating—it's a breakdown in accountability and trust across your team. This episode is about fixing those breakdowns. We unpack how better handoffs, clearer documentation, and stronger internal service mindsets can completely transform your process. From shift tie-ins and floor leads to process development and postmortems, we share how to build a shop where problems get solved before they become expensive. Because making chips isn't just about getting to the spindle—it's about building a culture where everyone owns their part of the process, and where your systems hold up even when the pressure's on. Next up on the Pearl Jam 2025 tour is a stop in Raleigh, North Carolina. This is a destination that hasn't been played since this show we're covering in 2003, but that was never originally planned to be the case. On the 2016 tour, a show in Raleigh was cancelled due to the band's opposition to the HB2 law that discriminated against transgender people. It was something that caused a bit of commotion within this fanbase, and we'll get into all of what happened nine years ago, but after the bill was overturned the band felt they needed to make it up to this Raleigh crowd. And if this 2003 show is any indication, they might be in for a good one. 2003 is a favorite tour year for many due to the band truly elevating their game to the next level. Setlists started to become very fan friendly and collector heavy, Mike McCready became the showman that we know of him today, and no two shows were even close to the same. If you like Riot Act heavy shows, this is a good one for you. The deeper cuts such as Help Help, Cropduster and You Are are brought out here and all sound fresh for the same. Save You, I Am Mine and Love Boat Captain are also major highlights from this show, and you can tell which ones are gonna stick around throughout the duration of this North American run. There's also a great run at this show featuring four straight Vitalogy era songs, and we'll get into why these songs together may feel like a mini rock opera. Check out the episode for the full rundown of the setlist, a little talk of what's been going on out on tour and a few stories from the Florida shows and the 2003 Evolution yips! 291 – What does it really mean to preach the Gospel to all creation? How do you feel when you read Jesus's command to his disciples to preach the gospel to every creature, to all creation, to all mankind?Does this get you excited to go share your faith with as many people as possible? Or does it make you cringe because you don't feel qualified to preach the gospel to even one or two people, let alone the whole world? And how would you be able to do that anyway? Or maybe you just shrug your shoulders because you decide this command of Jesus really only applied to his immediate disciples at the time, or to preachers and evangelists today. In this episode we're going to talk about the idea of preaching the gospel to all creation and how that applies to you.You have a ministryStart where you areWatch for opportunities to share your faithThe best way to preach the Gospel is to live your faith every day And pray for God's guidance on who you can tell about the kingdom of heavenGod has called you to let your light shine, to share your faith and your love for Christ with others. Sometimes it's just by living your faith, sometimes with words, but always it's with love for God and all God's children.Previous episodes mentioned:Episode 32: The Parable of the Unbaked CakeEpisode 288: Jesus's Death on the Cross Does not Save You from Your Sins; it's His Resurrection Show notes:Full transcript and Bible quotes: thebiblespeakstoyou.com/291Text me your questions or comments.Support the showIf you enjoy the podcast, please rate and leave a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify__________________James Early, the Jesus Mindset Coach, is a Bible teacher, speaker, and podcaster. In “You Can't Save You,” Jerry Jones delivers a powerful reminder that no amount of good deeds, church attendance, or personal effort can earn salvation. Drawing from Ephesians 2, Jerry paints a vivid picture of our helplessness without Christ—and the incredible mercy of a God who stepped in when we couldn't save ourselves. This message challenges listeners to embrace the truth: we are rescued by grace alone, through faith, because of the finished work of Jesus.

John 3 shows not only that God is love (1 Jn. 4:16), but also that God is holy (Psa. 99:9) and that God is good (1 Pet. 2:3).“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” - Jesus in John 3:3For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. - Romans 3:23-24Because God is holy, He must ***judge*** our sin. Had Jesus never come to deal with our sin, 100% of us would be going to Hell because of our sin.As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life.Because God is holy, God must judge sin. Heatrick Heavy Hitters – Muay Thai Strength and Conditioning
Ever watched a Muay Thai fight where one guy just seems one step ahead the entire time? No matter what his opponent throws, he's already gone—or already in his face, shutting everything down.It looks like magic, but it's not. It's range control. And if you're not thinking about it, you're giving away fights before they even start. Why Techniques Alone Won't Save You...Most fighters get obsessed with perfecting techniques. Sharper combos. Faster kicks. Better defense. But here's the thing:Techniques are just tools. If you don't understand when and where to use them, you're just throwing weapons into the void, hoping they land.Winning fights isn't about memorizing moves—it's about controlling where the fight happens. That's what separates tactical fighters from brawlers. Overwhelmed by the number of codes required for the Geotech PE Exam? Scared by its low pass rates…year after year?
Happy New Year to the Pearl Jam Podcast Community! 2025 is set to be another great year for the band on tour in April and May, and hopefully more will get announced at some point soon. To kick off the year, we are gonna finish our look back on 2024 by covering the highly talked about tour closer in Sydney. With a plethora of storylines leading up to the show, such as the 30th anniversary of Vitalogy's release, expectations were high for the final night on the 2024 Dark Matter tour, and as per usual, the band delivered something memorable. It was the type of show that you'd call a kitchen sink show incorporating songs that had barely been brought to the table last year such as Brain Of J, In Hiding, Tremor Christ, Save You, Dissident and Alone. But the big story from that night overpowers all of the clutch deep cuts because for the first time in ten years, the band decided to pull out Hunger Strike. It had been seven and a half years since Chris Cornell's death, a subject that Eddie Vedder has rarely addressed publicly. But there is more behind this performance than just playing a famed song from their past. We'll get into details of how Ed had seemed to open up a little more about his relationship with Chris, and how this moment in Sydney was seen from a therapeutic standpoint, having the crowd pitch in and help out in the roles meant for Cornell. A powerful moment, and one that will be remembered for decades onward. We'll also hear from our Aussie crew who helped out on our reaction episodes for the run down there, we'll hear a story about a boy who challenged Eddie to rock, paper, scissors, and we'll also share some news and changes about the podcast in effect for 2025. As 2024 comes to a close, I think we could all take a little time to reflect on the tracks we're leaving in this world. Join me for a walk down the driveway to discuss what that looks like in your life! I'll see you on the Rooftop. In this time of elections and the churn, I reflect on the past few transformative years—from the chaos of Afghanistan's collapse and Operation Pineapple Express to the resurgence of my play, Last Out: Elegy of a Green Beret. These experiences shaped Rooftop Leadership, a methodology rooted in four pillars: strategic impact, human nature, human connection, and deep work. Drawing from my Green Beret experiences, this approach confronts the disconnection and low-trust environments that dominate today's world. By fostering meaningful relationships and addressing “the churn” of fear, distraction, and distrust, I aim to help leaders align with their deeper nature, inspire action, and drive profound, lasting change. I'll see you on the Rooftop. Today's episode hits on a tough truth: nobody is coming to save you. In this episode, I share a recent conversation with a farm owner feeling the pressure of tough decisions and past mistakes. We dig into why ego, fear of being exposed, and avoiding tough conversations hold people back—and how those same issues can sink a family operation. I also talk about my own experiences, the lessons I learned from my granddad's mistakes, and how I hit rock bottom before finally realizing it's on me to change. At Legacy Farmer, we're not here to save anyone. We're here to lead those ready to transform their business and their life. It's not easy, but it's worth it. Let's get into it.
