    Ivy Insights

The Classic Tales Podcast is an exceptional podcast for literature enthusiasts. As a non-native English speaker with hearing impairments, I often struggle to follow conventional podcasts. However, with The Classic Tales Podcast, that is not the case. I can understand and fully enjoy every piece of literature that is shared in this podcast. The narration by BJ Harrison is outstanding, as he brings each character to life and ensures that the story is not read too quickly, allowing listeners like me to fully grasp what is happening. The range of stories covered in the podcast is also commendable, from classics like Winnie the Pooh and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to lesser-known works that I have discovered through this podcast. I highly recommend downloading and enjoying this podcast.

One of the best aspects of The Classic Tales Podcast is the skillful narration by BJ Harrison. His voice is captivating and transports listeners into each story. Furthermore, his ability to create distinct accents and voices for various characters adds depth and authenticity to the narratives. It's evident that he puts a lot of effort into bringing the author's words to life. Additionally, the selection of stories in this podcast is diverse and engaging, covering a wide range of genres and authors.

While it's challenging to find any major flaws in The Classic Tales Podcast, one minor downside may be the infrequency of new episodes. As a fan, I eagerly await each new release, but sometimes there are longer gaps between episodes. However, considering the high-quality content provided in each episode, it's understandable that producing such well-crafted narrations takes time.

In conclusion, The Classic Tales Podcast is a remarkable podcast for lovers of literature and learning. The narration by BJ Harrison is top-notch, making each story enjoyable and immersive. While I wish there was more emphasis on providing historical context for each story, overall it's an enriching experience reminiscent of being back in college. This podcast comes highly recommended for anyone seeking excellent storytelling and a deeper appreciation for classic literature. Thank you to BJ Harrison for his talent and dedication in creating such a treasure trove of literary classics.

Can David start to piece together a life while still wanted as an accomplice for the Appin Murder? Robert Louis Stevenson, today on The Classic Tales Podcast.   Welcome to The Classic Tales Podcast, where an audiobook approach delivers an immersive experience in classic literature. Treasure Island, Kidnapped, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and his wonderful short stories like Markheim, The Body Snatcher, and The Bottle Imp to name a few.  Today we begin an episodic journey through the novel Catriona, published as David Balfour in the US. Though the name looks to be spelled Catriona, apparently it's correctly pronounced as Katrina. So that's what we'll do.   This second volume of David Balfour's story is less a straightforward adventure story, and is more of a novel of manners with some adventure sprinkled in. To me it feels like a natural progression as the youth gets older, has more responsibility, and learns to make his way in the wider world of Scottish traditions.     And now, David Balfour, Part 1 of 9, by Robert Louis Stevenson   Follow this link to get The Audiobook Library Card for a special price of $9.99/month   Follow this link and get Multiple Licenses for The Audiobook Library Card   Follow this link and watch the new video walkthrough using PocketBook.       Follow this link to subscribe to our YouTube Channel:       Follow this link to subscribe to the Arsène Lupin Podcast:     Follow this link to follow us on Instagram:     Follow this link to follow us on Facebook:

This summer, I thought of something a little different. Robert Louis Stevenson, my gateway drug to the classics, wrote a sequel to Kidnapped that is quite good, but not as well known. I've been wanting to do it for some time, but the time didn't seem right. This summer I think we'll give it a go.   So that you all can refresh yourselves on David Balfour's story, I'm planning a few more robust vintage episodes during the next few weeks, where we'll hear the entire novel of Kidnapped in three episodes.   Now, here's the thing – this is like, one of the first audiobooks I've ever recorded. So while it still gets a fair rating on Audible, you'll hear that I'm still getting my sea legs. Kidnapped has never appeared on The Classic Tales Podcast and has only been available in our retail outlets.   And if you've never heard it before, you're in for a real treat. If you missed it, check your inboxes. I try to keep it short, sweet, and convenient.   For years, I listened to David Copperfield, by Charles Dickens every year. There was just something nourishing when I revisited that story. There still is. The characters, the themes, the masterful language, it was a literary feast – and I always picked up something new. I don't know how you are, but sometimes I'm not at a place where I can handle a book. It just doesn't work for some reason. Then, a year or two later maybe, the same book absolutely hits the spot.   With the audiobook library card, you can always find something that will meet you where you are. And you can start, stop, try again, as much as you want. In a Wodehouse mood? Dozens of hours. Need to scratch a historical itch? How about Plutarch's Lives of famous Greeks and Romans, or The Count of Monte Cristo? Coming up on 19 years of personally narrated audiobooks.     Also, you don't need to place orders. Michael comes to the end of his mission – but does he arrive in time to avert disaster? Jules Verne, today on The Classic Tales Podcast.   Welcome to The Classic Tales Podcast, where we use an audiobook format to give you an immersive experience in classic literature. You can get friendlier with the classics you know, and discover new favorites. I'm your host BJ Harrison.  I'm glad you could join us.   With the Audiobook Library Card, you gain access to everything I've personally curated from the public domain and recorded over the past 18 years. Every title was chosen with intent because it was calling to me for some reason. I needed to record it. After 18 and a half years of doing this, we're still winning awards and turning heads.     Subscribe for the Audiobook Library Card for $9.99 a month and get access to it all. Thousands of hours of content at your disposal. It's the best audiobook deal on the internet.   Go to audiobooklibrarycard.com or follow the link in the show notes, and download and listen all you want.   I've discovered a new and easier way to listen to the audiobooks downloaded from the store, through the Audiobook Library Card or otherwise – it's the PocketBook App. It's just a little more intuitive than the KyBook app, and it's available for iPhone and Android. Links can be found in the show notes. I've also made a new video walkthrough so you can see how easy it is to download and listen using Pocketbook. Feel free to check it out.   Last week we introduced a little segment called the Word for the Week, by Ambrose Bierce. In this segment, we hear from the Devil's Lexicographer himself, as he delivers one of his caustic definitions.   The Word for the Week is Backbite, and here to read it is Ambrose Bierce himself:   BACKBITE, v.t. Each week, we'll have a definition from the Devil's Lexicographer himself – Ambrose Bierce. Over the course of 30 years, Bierce nearly weekly wrote a cynical definition of a common word, sometimes consisting of poems, which he sold to various newspapers and periodicals. After 30 years, he collected all of these into one volume which came to be called The Devil's Dictionary. In keeping with the spirit of its creation, we'll hear one of his jocular definitions before we begin today's show.   So, the Word for the Week is Infancy, and here to read it is Ambrose Bierce himself:   INFANCY, n. The period of our lives when, according to Wordsworth, "Heaven lies about us." The world begins lying about us pretty soon afterward.   Thank you Mr. Bierce.   And now, Michael Strogoff, Part 8 of 9, by Jules Verne.   Follow this link and watch the new video walkthrough using PocketBook.   Follow this link to get The Audiobook Library Card for a special price of $9.99/month       Follow this link to subscribe to our YouTube Channel:       Follow this link to subscribe to the Arsène Lupin Podcast:     Follow this link to follow us on Instagram:     Follow this link to follow us on Facebook:

Only about a quarter of the books in the library were released through the podcast. So you can instantly download and listen to whatever you want, all the time. This is the Audiobook Library Card.   Go to audiobooklibrarycard.com or follow the link in the show notes, and download and listen all you want.   Today's story is the first in an episodic release of the novel Michael Strogoff, by Jules Verne. I don't know about you, but my favorite Jules Verne novel might be Around the World in 80 Days. Michael Strogoff is similarly commissioned with a race against time, but the story is placed in Czarist Russia, and is essentially a spy novel. This first episode is kind of a lot to set up, but once we get going – hold on tight!     And now, Michael Strogoff, Part 1 of 9, by Jules Verne     Follow this link to get The Audiobook Library Card for a special price of $6.99/month       Follow this link to subscribe to our YouTube Channel:       Follow this link to subscribe to the Arsène Lupin Podcast:     Follow this link to follow us on Instagram:     Follow this link to follow us on Facebook:
