Spooky October is coming to an end, so we celebrated by bringing in our friend Nick to talk about one of his favorite scary movies "Scream". We haven't covered a recent release since episode one, so in honor of our tenth episode we decided to cover another! After seeing Blade Runner 2049 we give you our spoiler heavy thoughts on how it stacked up against the original.
After watching the Blade Runner final cut together we discuss its central themes and storytelling elements. We tackle its commentary on humanity and identity as well as its uses of visuals and score. This one may have stumped us in some ways, but we do our best to figure out what exactly it's trying to say.
Ricky and Kevin discuss Robert Zemeckis' "Back to the Future" and Taylor contributes his thoughts as someone who has never seen it. Not only is Taylor astonished at the plot of the film, but also discovers that his son is back from the future. Kevin also finds plot holes in the film, Ricky gets vulnerable, and there is a guest appearance by Taylor's wife.
In an attempt to get Taylor to lead our discussion, we picked Christopher Nolan's Interstellar as our movie for the week! Taylor contributes with philosophical observations, Kevin brings in unneeded facts from set, and Ricky shares his unfiltered thoughts after his first viewing of the film.
It's a tense one this week! We chose Quentin Tarantino's '09 film "Inglorious Basterds" this week, and spent some time figuring out how he creates such great tension. There may or may not also be some interrupting of genius analysis in order to create an intro, no Taylor to be found, and a look at whether or not we should add that explicit tag.
The 80's were filled with crazy action adventure films, but none like the 1981 Spielberg classic Raiders of the Lost Ark. We break down how Indiana Jones compares to our other 80's heroes and what deeper themes are at play in the film.
In this episode we not only discuss Disney's 1994 classic The Lion King, but we also have some classic banter between the guys. Our main discussion centers around The Lion King film and its impact on our parenting, comedy, and lives, its uses of music and themes, and its reflection on society as a whole. Outside of The Lion King we break down Taylor Swift's new disaster, ponder philosophy, and for the most part try to stay on topic.
Our film for discussion this week is the 1972 Francis Ford Coppola classic "The Godfather". Since it's Ricky's first full viewing of the film we get his take on if its truly the greatest of all time. There may also be some discussion about absinthe, the IMDb top ten movies of all time list, and a very entertaining review from one of our best fans.
We give our opinions on audience and critic relations while discussing Alejandro Iñárritu's "Birdman". There may also be some banter about large red buttons you aren't allowed to push, Taylor's issues with a specific airline, and the specifics of titles in weddings.
For the first episode of the Nobody Asked Podcast we take a look at whether or not "Dunkirk" places Christopher Nolan at a new level in film history. We also establish the banter that you will come to expect from our podcast, and our hopes for episodes to come.
