Spooky October one-shot #2, and this time it's a DEEP conspiracy of actual terror and horror, we're playing Delta Green by Arc Dream Publishing! Specifically, we're playing the scenario Music From A Darkened Room, an investigation for Agents that takes them into 1206 Spooner Avenue, Meadowbrook, New Jersey, and IT. IS. NOT. OKAY. Content Warnings: Suicidal ideation, Dead Children, Violence, and probably a lot more, so be safe, please! I was lucky enough to be joined by two bonafide horrorheads in Amber (published horror author) and Christian (published horror scenario writer) from the DMs After Dark, my streaming crew and local best gaming buds, who helped make this session a lot better, since real terrifying horror is usually not my strength! I hope that you enjoy, but sincerely hope that you do so safely, because this game can be very, very dark. We try to keep it light, but if any content upsets you, make sure you take care of yourself. I made a Ko-Fi if you feel absurdly generous and want to help cover podcast hosting costs & all the upkeep. I'm still working on whether I want to offer anything special over there or just give my extreme gratitude (maybe some stickers or something in the mail) to those who donate, but no pressure whatsoever :) Where to Follow Rene Plays Games: LinkTree | Instagram | Facebook | X/Twitter | Threads | DMs After Dark email: RenePlaysGamesPod@gmail.com Music in the Episode: Theme Song written & produced by Dan Pomfret | @danfrombothbands Dark 1 Hour Mix by Monument Studios Horror Action Scene Setter by Monument Studios

Our October episode is here and is haunted by our first ever guest-host, Dave Taylor! Dave is a good friend of ours whom you may know from his company Dave Taylor Miniatures and as the co-host of Build Paint Play – A Podcast about Tabletop Gaming, or his previous work as editor-in-chief of White Dwarf Magazine and then Wargames Illustrated. Dave's been a serious Horus Heresy enthusiast for years and we were thrilled to have him take part. We chat a little about what everyone's been up to, notably Dave's time at the NOVA Open and judging the Capital Palette painting competition. We talk about scale modeling vs miniatures painting hobbying and of course, we continue to speculate about Legions Imperialis and its still unknown release date. While talking all things Epic, we drool over Broncofish's GrimDark Terrain STLs, perfect for both Titanicus and Legions Imperialis whenever it may arrive. Moving on, we talk about the recently released Exemplary Battles PDF, The Battle for Felweather Keep with its rules for corrupted knights (none of us have fully read them but that doesn't stop us from talking!) and then drift into some discussion of our observations of competitive play in games of Horus Heresy. Naturally, we indulge in some obligatory discussion of Warhammer: The Old World with Steve before talking about the imminently releasing Mk III armor kits and Deredeo Dreadnought in plastic! We chat a little about the recently revealed resin Fulgrim model and the book in which he will be included before we get into the meat of our episode; planning and painting a Horus Heresy army the Dave Taylor way.Dave is starting to plan a companion volume to his first published book, Armies & Legions & Hordes, and he's been giving thought to a new rubric by which to plan your themes and schemes around whether they are "Obvious, Adjacent, or Fringe." We talk about this approach and how to make an army feel like its yours from the ground up.Finally, we conclude with some mail call. As always, we want to hear from you for next episode's mail call, so find us on Facebook to ask!Logo Design by Nikol KingIntro and Outro Music by Skull CultistBackground music by Orthokeras With vox from Alia Synesthesia and Nicole TurnerAudio Production designed on the Forge World of the Vorpal Goat

This October, we're covering cases that inspired some of your favorite horror film. This episode of True Crime Tuesday kicks off the Spooky October series where we're kicking things off with Ed Gein aka The Butcher of Plainfield. Ed's unhealthy relationship with his mother planted both a deep seated hatred and fascination for women that flourished into a dark and depraved obsession with the dead. After his mother's death, Ed picked up a new crafting hobby that you must see to believe. Hopefully you can keep up with this disgusting tale of postmortem curiosity. Kendra Jrama, a former police officer who has real life experience with the perpetrators and victims of crime presents this case. Joining her is 911 dispatcher Jon, who's every day life is true crime in real time. Picking this species to represent our "Spooky October" for Halloween, the Anglerfish has it all. It is a creature made of nightmares that absolutely defies logic in some senses. The deep sea Anglerfish, survives in one of the most inhospitable regions of any biome, and yet survives and even thrives. Listen to this episode! Trust us, your mind will be blown! This week, GamerDude talks about catching Covid, despite all of the precautions he's been taking for more than two-and-a-half years. He talks about the frustration he feels about all he's given up, and the way he's had to change his life to avoid Covid, only to contract it anyway. GamerDude also has some stories for Spooky October. He has always been a fan of spooky stories and unsolved mysteries, and he talks about why "ghost ship" stories are so interesting to him. He talks about the circumstances of one of the more famous ghost ships, the Mary Celeste. He talks about how it set sail in 1872 from New York, bound for Italy, and how it was found adrift in the Atlatnic about three weeks later, with everything intact, including the cargo, but no trace of the crew. He also shares stories of several other ghost ships in the past, and how it appears that people actually do just disappear without a trace.
