Addict II Athlete's podcast

In this episode of the Addict to Athlete podcast, host Blu Robinson engages with Gary Katz, a professional in the field of sexual addictions. They explore the complexities of addiction, particularly sexual addiction, and its impact on individuals and relationships. Katz discusses the spectrum of addiction, the stigma surrounding sexual behaviors, and the deep emotional wounds caused by betrayal. The conversation emphasizes the importance of self-compassion, understanding values, and navigating the healing process for both individuals struggling with addiction and their partners. In this conversation, Gary Katz and Blu Robinson delve into the complexities of healing from betrayal in relationships. They discuss the timeline for recovery, the importance of emotional literacy, and the challenges of reestablishing intimacy after infidelity. The dialogue emphasizes the need for couples to navigate trust issues, the dynamics of sexual desire, and the impact of conflict and resentment on intimacy. Katz highlights the significance of individual and couples therapy in fostering understanding and healing, while also addressing the societal pressures that complicate emotional expression, particularly for men. Takeaways Addiction is a form of self-abandonment. The stigma surrounding sexual addiction is profound. Betrayal trauma cuts deeper than other forms of addiction. Self-compassion is crucial in the recovery process. Understanding one's values is essential in addressing sexual behaviors. The partner's perspective is often overlooked in discussions of addiction. Shame plays a significant role in how individuals perceive their sexual behaviors. Healthy relationships require open communication about sexual needs. The brain often protects itself from painful truths, leading to denial. Navigating recovery involves addressing both individual and relational dynamics. It can take 18 to 24 months for healing. Healing is a personal journey; there's no race. Betrayed partners often seek knowledge to feel safe. Understanding betrayal trauma is crucial for recovery. Empathy is harder to learn than stopping harmful behaviors. Reestablishing intimacy requires patience and understanding. Couples need to prioritize their relationship amidst life demands. Conflict can be a sign of passion in relationships.   00:00- Introduction to the Addict to Athlete Podcast 01:00- Understanding Sexual Addictions and Their Impact 04:44- The Spectrum of Addiction: Self-Abandonment and Connection 08:26- The Deeper Cuts of Sexual Betrayal 11:20- The Stigma of Sexual Addiction 13:14- The Complexity of Shame in Sexual Behaviors 18:09- Navigating Values and Sexuality 21:12- The Partner's Perspective: Betrayal and Healing 27:59- Understanding the Healing Process 30:39- Navigating Betrayal and Trust 34:24- Reestablishing Intimacy After Betrayal 39:12- The Dynamics of Sexual Desire 45:13- Conflict, Resentment, and Intimacy 50:20- Emotional Literacy and Recovery   Please join Addict to Athlete's Patreon support page and help us turn the mess of addiction into the message of sobriety! https://www.patreon.com/addicttoathlete Please visit our website for more information on Team Addict to Athlete and Addiction Recovery Podcasts. https://www.AddictToAthlete.org Join the Team! Dealing with change can sometimes feel like ripping off a bandaid. Change is stressful, whether you are five or 55; and people respond to those changes in all different ways. Over the last few years, so much has happened and God's people have all been under attack by the evil one, but God is ready to roar back and restore what was lost, stolen, or destroyed. When we are under attack, part of the plan of the enemy is to wear away at our purpose. In Judges 6 and 7 Gideon experienced this too! After being oppressed by invaders, he felt defeated and forsaken, but God had a plan and could see Gideon's purpose even when Gideon could not. Gideon had to realize he was chosen by God for a specific purpose unique to him. Then Gideon had to tear down lies he had believed that kept him from trusting God. After he took a prophetic action and tore down the altar of Baal and the personal lies he had believed simultaneously, Gideon had to lift his eyes up from his circumstances to trust in God. When we realize we are chosen by God, tear down lies, and lift our eyes up from our situations, we are ready to do the last action Gideon took to realize his purpose: command in the wisdom of God. Gideon went from being timid and defeated to commanding fearlessly and having his purpose re-established. God can and will do the same for us when we say "yes" to Him. Healing, restoration, and purpose go hand in hand when we're following Jesus!

Today's episode is a very special one, as Robyn and I reflect on 2023 and share our thoughts on what's ahead in 2024, especially in the business and Channeling fields. It was amazing to talk to Marisol, the entity channeled through Robyn about these topics. Selena, the being that's being channeled through me, also joined our conversation to answer some questions Robyn had about 2024, and what the process of integrating with my consciousness has been like. This is a deep, highly energetic, and interesting conversation which had to be split into two different episodes. Part 2 is coming next week.   The Intricacies of Reestablishing a Relationship with a Former Partner: A Detailed Perspective Rekindling a romance with a former partner is akin to traversing a labyrinth of emotional complexities and uncertainties. This journey is far from straightforward, with numerous factors influencing the potential for a successful reunion. Delving into these elements offers a deeper understanding of the dynamics involved in reconnecting with an ex. Accompanying articles: What are the odds of getting my ex back? On Life Coach Hub: The odds of getting your ex back Unraveling the Breakup's Context Key to evaluating the chances of reuniting is understanding the breakup's context. Breakups vary widely in their causes and consequences. When a specific incident or misunderstanding leads to a split, it often allows for a clearer route to reconciliation. However, the gravity of the issue, especially in cases of betrayal, significantly alters the reconciliation landscape. On the other hand, breakups stemming from ongoing relationship issues present a more challenging scenario. Here, the root causes are often deeply embedded in the relationship's fabric, necessitating substantial introspection and change for a second chance. Duration and Intimacy of the Relationship The history and depth of the relationship are critical indicators of its revival potential. Relationships cultivated over extended periods usually have deeper emotional investments, fostering a resilience that may endure the strains of a breakup. Shorter relationships, while intense, often lack this enduring strength and understanding. The Role of Distance in Relationship Dynamics Long-distance relationships introduce unique challenges. Geographical divides can be both a cause of the breakup and a barrier to reconciliation. The feasibility of reuniting, hampered by distance, plays a pivotal role in the likelihood of rekindling the relationship. Behavior Following the Breakup Responses and actions post-breakup significantly sway the chances of getting back together. Handling the breakup with poise and respect, as opposed to desperation or aggression, keeps the possibility of reconciliation alive. This balance between expressing a willingness to reconcile and respecting the ex-partner's autonomy is vital. Analyzing the Ex-Partner's Relationship Patterns A person's history in relationships often sheds light on their approach to reunions. A series of short-term relationships might suggest a lesser inclination toward long-term commitments, impacting the chances of a sustained reunion. In contrast, a history of longer, more committed relationships indicates a deeper understanding of and commitment to lasting partnerships. Distinguishing Between Desire for You and Desire for the Relationship It's important to differentiate between an ex's attraction or affection for you and their desire to be in a relationship. While they might still have feelings for you, this does not automatically equate to a willingness to engage in the complexities of a relationship. Gauging the Probability of Reunion Assessing the likelihood of getting back together with an ex involves considering the relationship's past, the breakup's nature, personal growth since the separation, and current circumstances. Conclusion In essence, the path to potentially reuniting with an ex is laden with self-reflection, understanding, and sometimes, the need for acceptance. This journey necessitates emotional intelligence, patience, and readiness for various outcomes. Whether it leads to a renewed romance or new paths of personal discovery, it is a journey that should be undertaken with openness and thoughtfulness. This revised article offers a unique and detailed exploration of the factors affecting the possibility of reuniting with an ex-partner, providing insight and guidance for those contemplating this emotional journey.

It takes hard work to establish great routines. Figuring out the right order and timing to do something to make it work best for you takes effort and often trial and error. But, once we have it figured out, a great routine makes a huge difference in the flow of our days. Unfortunately, routines can sometimes get lost when a change in our lives occurs. That can be something as simple as the holiday season. How we eat changes, and the time needed for shopping and other events often takes away time that we would have done certain routines. It can be difficult to get back to those routines when we lose that certain rhythm we had going before. But, all is not lost, it just takes a little bit of discipline to get our great routines, or even better ones put back in place. https://www.lolasfrugallife.com https://www.facebook.com/LolasFrugalLife/ Check out my YouTube Channel! Support this podcast:  https://anchor.fm/lolak/support --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/lolak/support

Traumatic events are, at times, an unfortunate component of life's equation. Reestablishing a sense of normalcy after undergoing trauma can be challenging without the right perspective. In 1989, the United States launched an attack on Panamanian installations, deploying approximately 24,000 troops, aiming to remove Gen. Manuel Noriega and establish an elected civilian government. This incursion set off a chain of abductions and murders of American citizens in the region. Our guest, Tara King, happened to be one of those citizens who was taken hostage. She shares her incredible tale of survival, resilience, and a profound shift in perspective. Tune in to this episode to hear her remarkable story and consider how the lessons learned can be applied to your own past experiences.

Trauma is shockingly common. Yet trauma-engendered behaviors are often met with ‘What's wrong with you?', when, as Dr. Bruce Perry relates, a better framing is, ‘What happened to you?'. This conversation is especially relevant as the healthcare workforce begins processing our collective trauma from the COVID pandemic. Dr. Perry co-authored a book with Oprah Winfrey that may helps us disentangle trauma and understand the powerful, protective role of healthy relationships with family, community, and culture. Reestablishing those relationships, and repairing the rents in our work communities, too, is an essential part of moving forward out of the challenges of the last three years. Some of us aim to create trust, some are struggling to maintain it, and in some cases, some wish to reestablish trust after it has just been broken on your behalf or from another. In this episode we welcome back previous guest Cameron “Hammy” Hamilton and discuss: 1. Why trust is important and what is gained from it. 2. How to build trust in a group or organization. 3. How to respond to a breach of trust. What have been some of your experiences with trust? How have you built it? Maintained it? Or repaired it? We'd love to hear from you!
