Episode 62: Discernment (Testimony): Warning against Presuming You have been Born Again (Part 3)

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 24, 2024 33:46

In this part 3 episode on discernment, we will look at the the warning against presuming you have been born again when it actually hasn't happened.  Jesus speaks of this warning in Mathew chapter 7.  There are many who have had spiritual encounters and are convinced this is proof they have been born again.  But they don't understand that light is always working in darkness.  It is light that leads a person out of darkness, however, many presume when they see or feel light working in their life they automatically assume it is a proof of adoption as a son of God.  If you have any questions or would like to set up a conversation to discuss questions please email:  Warriors4ChristYT@gmail.comPassages covered:  Mathew 7:13-23;  Romans 12:1-2

In this part 2 episode on Discernment, we will look at an example with Abraham when his name was still Abram.  Many people have not realized that Abraham presumed and did not fully understand God's promise of how he would bless his descendant.  Abraham presumed at the time that it would be through a son of his seed and not involve his wife Sarah.  Abraham had this deception for almost 25 years until God corrected him when he was 99 years old.  If God let Abraham continue in his presumption, his descendants would have been one of slavery and under a curse and not the descendant of freedom and blessing. If you have any questions or would like to set up a conversation to discuss questions please email:  Warriors4ChristYT@gmail.comEpisode - Faith of Abram vs Abraham, Faith vs Works:  https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/warriors4christ/episodes/2022-04-17T16_51_28-07_00Passages covered:  Genesis 15:1-6,  16:1-11,  17:1-2, 15-19,  22:1, 16-18.

In this first part of a series on discernment, we will look at some basic principles.  We know that God speaks to us through convictions by His Holy Spirit.  So that we can be led by the Holy Spirit and not the flesh.  Those who have the Spirit of God can know the thoughts of God.  But God isn't the only one who tries to lead people.  The Devil is also seeking to lead people, but to cause them to stumble.  We must be aware of the two different forces at work.Passages covered:  John 14:10-12;  1 Corinthians 14:3,  2:10-13;  Mathew 16:21-23;  Ephesians 2:1-3,  6:10-19;  2 Corinthians 10:1-5.

In this episode we will look at two different works of the Holy Spirit.  The first work I the initial filling in the life of a believer.  This occurs when a person is born again, receiving the New Heart and New Spirit discussed in scripture.  This allows a person to be freed from sin, having all sin removed, and to be able to live and walk in righteousness producing the fruit of the Spirit.  Separate from this, there is additional subsequent fillings where a believer receives additional power for the work of ministry.  This can be both manifested as a giving of a spiritual gift such as prophecy (prophet), teaching (teacher) or other gifts as discussed in 1 Corinthians ch 12 and other passages of scripture; as well as a single filling to support a single gift of prophecy or boldness in a teaching or  response if you are brought before authorities on trail for the faith.  God works in different ways and is not conformed to a formula.  In this episode we will look at different passages of scriptures to understand some of the different ways God works. If you have any questions, please use the following email and I will get back to you:  Warriors4ChristYT@gmail.comPassages covered:  Ephesians 3:14-19;  James 4:1-10;  Ephesians 4:25-32,  5:1-2,  9,  14-18;  Philippians 1:9-11;  Ephesians 4:7-13;  John 8:34;  1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 18, 24-31,  13:1-3,  14:1;  Luke 1:32-35,  2:40-52,  1:15-17,  1:80,  3:2-9;  Mark 1:7-13;  Luke 1:6, 1:41-79,  2:25-38;  Acts 9:17-22,  13:9-12,  1:8,  2:4,  4:5-8,  4:29-31,  13:52;  1 John 3:22, 5:14-15, 5:18

In this part 3 episode we look at the Devil's final temptation of Christ.  In this final temptation the Devil didn't use any twisting of the Word of God, but appealed directly to any worldly desire within Christ, and Christ overcame, taking Devil's thought captive, resisted the Devil and rebuked the Devil.  The question is how is this temptation different than yours.  Well it all depends.  If you have been born again and received a new heart with new thoughts, the old evil thoughts crucified and removed; then it should be easy for you to identify the thoughts of the Devil and to resist them.  However, if you still have the old heart with its desires of the flesh; then you will find it difficult to distinguish between your wicked thoughts and the Devil's.  Worse, you may even find your own worldly desires which still live in you, tempting and luring you to have sinful thoughts; which when conceived and completed brings for your sin and death as discussed in James ch1.  When you have a new heart and the evil thought is the Devil's it will be easy for you to take captive the thought and rebuke it; the Devil will then flee.  But if you don't have the new heart; then most likely your own thought will remain and you will find yourself warring against yourself and the sin which still dwells in you.  Passages covered:  Mathew 4:8-11;  Deuteronomy 6:13,  5:9,  8:19,  11:16,  17:3,  30:17;  James 1:2-6,  13-15;  1 Cor 10:1-13;  2 Cor 10:2-6,  11:1-4.

In this final episode on God's Refining Fire, we will look at New Testament passages on how God will use His fire.  You will notice the theme is consistent with all of the previous episodes.  God is a compassionate God that calls us to repentance.  But if we don't come to repentance under God's terms, then His fire will consume.  This includes those who reject God as well as those who confessed Jesus, believed, were sanctified by the Holy Spirit; but yet if you do not meet God's terms, then He will consume and destroy with Fire, just as He did with Israel.  God doesn't change.Passages Covered:  Mathew 3:8-12,  5:27-30,  7:13-23,  11:20-24,  13:36-50,  18:7-9,  22:1-14;  Luke 3:9-17,  12:49-53,  13:1-9, 23-28,  John 15:1-14;  Romans 11:15-24;  1 Peter 1:6-9;  1 Corinthians 3:6-20;  2 Thessalonians 1:3-12;  Hebrews ch3,  ch4, 5:8-9, 6:1-8,  10:22-39;  James 1:26,  3:2-6;  Revelation 3:17-22,  19:7-9,  22:11-12.

In this episode we will continue to look at other examples of what is meant by being refined by fire.  We looked previously at Isaiah and Jeremiah, today we will look at Ezekiel and Malachi.  Many in the world today have an incorrect understanding of what it means to be refined by the fire of God because they are being mislead by incorrect teaching and songs with incorrect doctrine.  As God explains through His word, God wants to bring His children into obedience through discipline.  We covered this in past episodes more in detail (Scripture is Profitable for Discipline - Makes Paths Straight, and ... - the Struggling Son).  But today we will look at what happens when someone does not receive a new heart and spirit, when they are not cleansed from all sin but still struggle with sin; God then changes from discipline to His fire.  When this happens, God then purges the wicked from within His church through various judgements.Passages covered:  Ezekiel 22:15-31,  24:10-24;  Malachi ch 2-4;  James 2:1-10,  3:2;   Proverbs 25:4-5;  Psalm 119:113-120;  Revelation 22:11-12.
