From Matthew Janzen of Ministers of the New Covenant Streamed Live May 28, 2021 The better promises of the New Covenant do not stop at Jeremiah 31:34. The rest of Jeremiah 31 (and 32-33) continue to speak on the matter, as well as parallel prophecies in the books of Isaiah, Micah, and Ezekiel. I also look at the question of "Do we possess the Spirit of Yahweh in our hearts now?" ~~~ About Matthew and Ministers of the New Covenant: We believe in Yahweh the Father, Almighty Maker of heaven and earth, and in Yeshua the Messiah His only begotten Son, our Master. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Miriam, lived a sinless life according to Torah, and preached the Good News of the Kingdom. He suffered and died as a substitute sacrifice for our sin, and was resurrected on the third day for our justification. Eternal life is this: knowing the Father and His Son, made possible by the gift of the Holy Spirit, a new heart and mind. After this gift, the believer is given the ability to follow Yahweh's holy law. Following this law is the inevitable fruit of regeneration and justification. ~~~~~~~ From Me: Be Good Broadcast I just rebroadcast those spreading The Word Propagate it. Share it. In our narcissistic and utilitarian culture we choose to be the centre of our own universe. Furthermore, we often make God a useful agent in furthering our own agenda. It is to such self-centred attitudes that Ezekiel addresses his prophetic writings. He encourages the people to give up their selfish desires and be receptive to the Spirits overtures of having awakened hearts and minds.
Spirit orbs played an integral part in Breath of the Wild's story and it's gameplay loop, you go through a shrine and a spirit orb lays waiting for you, with an ancient sheikah monk on the other side of that spirit orb. Using the orbs you can increase your heart containers or your stamina vessels. This made for a fun gameplay loop... To this day though we don't really know what spirit orbs were... So today I want to discuss what Tears of the Kingdom's BRAND NEW spirit orbs could be, and where they might be in the map, could there be new shrines? Could they be out in the open world, in caves? We talk about all of that and more in this video on TOTK (The Sequel to Breath of the Wild!) As believers, can we really trust our hearts? Do we constantly have to battle with believing that we are hearing God's voice and not being deceived? Having a new heart and a new spirit gives us the confidence that God hears us and we hear Him!

If you have been raised in a religious context, you may assume that the way your church, your denomination, conceived of faith was and is the very definition of faith. Obviously, there is a lot that impacts what we believe and how we practice and express that belief. Dr. Mathew Guest helpfully describes how a particular way of seeing the world (neo-liberalism that defines much of politics and economics in our world) has come to impact religion in general and Christian faith in the west in particular. As many people who grew up in the church look towards a more hopeful understanding of faith, the disentangling of worldview and religion can prove to be a key part of moving forward. Perhaps what you were told you had to believe to even be considered a Christian had more to do with power and culture than it had to do with faith. Our conversation with Dr. Guest focused on his book Neoliberal Religion: Faith and Power in the Twenty-First Century. You can also read his recent article “The New Spirit of Capitalism: How neoliberalism has changed the way we do religion,” published November 2022. This episode has a lot of terms, some coined by Dr. Guest, so we thought it would be helpful to add some definitions. Episode Terminology: Neoliberalism: Neo-Liberalism can be seen as a perspective on politics and economics that assumes some key things. Firstly, there is a heightened individualism, the sense that value and virtue are conceived as aligning with the individual and individual rights and identity. Secondly, there is marketization, the way of seeing that ascribes value to that which is successful or popular in the marketplace of ideas, views and goods. Finally, there is a commodification of society and life. People, agencies and ideas are seen to have value in how they can be evaluated as a commodity. Neo-Liberalism as a political concept has led to fulsome ideas of freedom, autonomy and identity. At its best, it can reveal coercion and groupthink. However, there are also neutral and negative ways in which neo-liberalism impacts everything from social life to work life to spirituality and religion. Marketization: The idea that religion functions best as a market. So, the religions or churches that attract the most people, are the best. Churches and religions come to be seen as competing for a market. (Mathew thinks it's more complicated than that) Marketization also impacts notions of spiritual and moral success for groups and for individuals. Populism: This is a form of political identity that rests on an idea of “the people.” Populism eventually bypasses elections, and claims to voice what the real people want. Characterized by a kind of rhetoric, typically from one leader who claims a special connection to the people, even though they may be part of the elite. Populism often assumes there is a corrupt elite getting in the way of the people getting what they want. We can see how, in our current social and political culture, populism becomes aligned with and uses religion. Post-Truth Thinking: The idea that the powers that be are hiding things. You get conspiracy theories, the X Files, etc. It has escalated recently through the activities of public figures who have disregarded what may previously been thought to be unassailable traditions or truths. This can include the thought that key to Christian practice is a rejection of the world. In some expressions of church, there has been a very present critique of “the world” in saying that the world is not interested in truth. It is curious how this tendency has often existed alongside a willingness for fantastical belief or the propagation of conspiracy theories. Securitization: An assumption, at a policy level, that conceives of some religions as more suspicious than others. People and groups who can be characterized as “the other” are identified as forces from which we need security. This leads to a stigmatization of people who look different, or believe differently as dangerous. Thus, intense Christian faith, for example, can be seen as virtuous while intense Islamic faith is portrayed as threatening. Cosmeticization: The ways in which particular kinds of Christianity foreground the drive for polished perfectionism as a way of measuring success. Things viewed as successful in these religious circles resemble advertising or celebrities. The celebration of the cosmetic overcomes traditional depth or thought or interior life.

In this episode we will look at the OT passages which prophesied of the promise of the Holy Spirit that would be given to the Gentiles, that Gentiles would come into the Light. Many of these passages will show up again in the final part 4C episode when we look at the NT passages. Israel had the promises already given to them. Israel's problem is they would humble themselves and come to God on His terms. Instead they continued with a stubborn heart and did it their way. They would not humble themselves to receive of the New Heart and New Spirit. This was explained by God in great detail in the episode "New Covenant in Christ Explained" where we looked first at the NT in Hebrews, then the book of Jeremiah in the OT. God waited for Israel with much patience and for many years, then subsequently destroys many of the people of Israel and time and the cycle continued. God now offers the same promise of hope to the Gentiles and seeks to call them to be part of His chosen.Passages covered: Genesis 12:1-3, 17:1-16, 22:1-2 & 16-18; Isaiah 2:1-12, 6:9-11, 9:1-3, ch 42, 49:1-8, 51:1-8, 52:13-15, ch 54, 55:1-9, 56:1-2, 57:12-21, ch 58, ch 59, 60:1-3, 63:16-19, 64:4-12, 65:1-2 & 11-15, 66:4-6

This week we go full on fall festival edition of come follow me! Colonel Sanders, Moses, and Elijah make an appearance. And yes, we know that one of those don't belong. But hey, we are all God's children right!Join us as we discuss the amazing visions of Ezekiel, his role as a prophet in exile, and what it means to be a Watchmen. From Come Follow Me:Ezekiel was a prophet in exile. Along with other Israelites, he had been captured and sent to Babylon several years before Jerusalem was finally destroyed. In Jerusalem, Ezekiel would have been a priest serving in the temple. In Babylon, he was among “them of the captivity,” and he “sat where they sat” (Ezekiel 3:15), hundreds of miles from the temple and with little hope of returning to the beloved house of God. Then one day Ezekiel had a vision. He saw “the glory of the Lord” (Ezekiel 1:28)—not back in the temple at Jerusalem but there in Babylon among the exiles. The wickedness in Jerusalem, he learned, had become so severe that God's presence was no longer there (see Ezekiel 8–11; 33:21).One of Ezekiel's tasks was to warn the Israelites about the consequences of their rebellion—a warning that largely went unheeded. But there was more to Ezekiel's message: he prophesied that, despite how bad things became, there was a way back. If God's people would accept the invitation to “hear the word of the Lord” (Ezekiel 37:4), what was once dead could be revived. A “stony heart” could be replaced with “a new heart” (Ezekiel 36:26). “[I] shall put my spirit in you,” the Lord told them, “and ye shall live” (Ezekiel 37:14). And in the last days, the Lord would establish a new temple and a new Jerusalem, “and the name of the city from that day shall be, The Lord is there” (Ezekiel 48:35).Come Follow Me Lessonhttps://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/come-follow-me-for-individuals-and-families-old-testament-2022/44?lang=eng #oldtestament #religion #churchofjesuschrist #ldspodcast #christianpodcast #missionary #lds #biblestories #christ #faith #faithinchrist #scriptures #bookofmormon #doctrineandcovenants #pearlofgreatprice #temples #houseofthelord #mormon #mormonbeliefs #chritiansandmormons #god #endure #ironrod #faithineveryfootstep #generalconference #prophets #followtheprophet #commandments #love #service #charity #keepstriving #keeponstriving #gospelgrowthandgoodtimes #become #newtestamentSupport the show

The mission of Yale Divinity School is "to foster the knowledge and love of God through scholarly engagement with Christian traditions in a global, multifaith context." A variety of Yale Divinity School faculty and alumni have been featured as guests on For the Life of the World, and this episode highlights some of those contributions, including Krista Tippett, Willie Jennings, Keri Day, Kathryn Tanner, and David Kelsey (not to mention Miroslav Volf and Ryan McAnnally-Linz). Current Yale Divinity Student Luke Stringer introduces each highlight segment. Special thanks to Harry Attridge and Tom Krattenmaker.Show NotesOur first segment features Yale Divinity School alum Krista Tippett, the founder and CEO of the On Being Project. She's a nationally syndicated journalist who has become known for curating conversations on the art of being human, civil conversations, and social healing. Miroslav Volf invited Krista onto the show to talk about the importance of engaging otherness on the grounds of our common humanity, her personal faith journey from small town Baptists in Oklahoma, to a secular humanism in a divided Cold-War Berlin, and then back to her spiritual homeland and mother tongue of Christianity. For the Life of the World launched in 2020 during an immensely chaotic and troubling year. The painful and confusing early days of the pandemic gave way to the horrifying footage of George Floyd's murder. In the days following this event, we aired a reflection by Yale Divinity School professor Willie Jennings and a conversation with Princeton Theological Seminary theologian and Yale Div school alum Keri Day. First, an excerpt from Willie Jennings' reflection on the murder of George Floyd. And then, theologian Keri Day shares the core motivations of Christians to embrace the other across lines of difference. This next segment features theologian, Kathryn Tanner, who spoke to Ryan McAnnally-Linz about the virtue of patience through the lens of economy and capitalism. She's the Frederick Marquand Professor of Systematic Theology at Yale Divinity School and her latest book is Christianity in the New Spirit of Capitalism. This final highlight segment features theologian David Kelsey, who is the Luther A. Weigel Professor Emeritus of Theology at Yale Divinity School, where he taught for 40 years. Ryan McAnnally-Linz, himself an alum of Yale Divinity School, brings Kelsey onto the show to talk about the wild and inexplicable grip of evil on earthly creatures, and the analogously wild and inexplicable nature of God's grace—and God's immediate, if silent, witness and presence to human anguish.Production NotesThis podcast featured Krista Tippett, Willie Jennings, Keri Day, Kathryn Tanner, and David Kelsey (not to mention Miroslav Volf and Ryan McAnnally-Linz)Edited and Produced by Evan RosaHosted by Evan Rosa and Luke StringerA Production of the Yale Center for Faith & Culture at Yale Divinity School https://faith.yale.edu/aboutSupport For the Life of the World podcast by giving to the Yale Center for Faith & Culture: https://faith.yale.edu/give

Pigs like to be dirty. You could clean them and get them smelling good, but they'll go right back to the mud and fill their faces with slop. So think of your life and your sin is like a pig, drawn to the mud. Pastor Bill is saying today that you can be rescued from the mud, and you don't have to keep going back to it. You can become clean and have a new way of thinking and living, free from the sin that wants to drag you through the mud. Instead, make choices that allow you to be clean from the mess!

The word “sin” could be an acronym for “selfishness is near.” Left to yourself, there's nothing that's going to stop you from doing what you want to do when you want to do it! Your flesh is weak, and you'll fall prey to its desires. Today, Pastor Bill talks about the battle that goes on within you between doing what God and His Spirit have for you, versus the natural default of your flesh and sin nature. It's an ongoing battle that you have to work to fight against, and you must remember that you need God's help!

At a wedding, it's only natural to gaze at the bride walking toward her groom, looking radiant, happy, and peaceful. But of late, some desire to turn their heads toward the groom, and look at his reaction to the bride coming toward him. It's a beautiful picture of something even bigger than the wedding in front of you. Today, Pastor Bill clues you into the fact that weddings here on earth are merely a glimpse of the perfect union to come - between Jesus, the Groom, and His stunning bride, the church.
