Was nice to see how people enjoyed starting early in the evenings: a hotel closeby, with a superb art exhibition, lots of visual artists, and of course spinning some records alongside Crave, @Jjvvaann from Eightsquare, @HalleyFOUN and myself. This week we are welcoming July Z and presenting a 1h cut from the studio set he made exclusively for us, in which he delivers his genuine groovy and fresh canarian style. It’s been a great year for July Z, debuting with this great aka in the whole European underground house scene, launching his fourth vinyl release after just one year. He told us his main goal is to release in his own label and make some collabs of just one cut with some friends who he believes would match the sound vision. That was the case of the last release he made along with @whoisJulenn. The personal growth this artist has experienced in the last years left us all amazed, both his talent and productivity, representing his unique sound vision. He told us in his own words “I did this label to create music without being false-worried to fit the sound of one label or another”, just to show his most personal side. Spoilering a bit his next release, it will be Mr Blume, with an edit by @Ray_Mono, a great british producer. Domenico Imperato a.k.a. Franz was born in 1987 in Naples. He started collecting tapes and videotapes about underground music when he was a very young boy and already fancied bands such as Prodigy, Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, etc… At an early age he started collecting bootleg tapes made at legendary concerts in Naples and surrounding areas in the 1990s. He was a keen supporter of the team Angels of Love which he joined at the age of 15. This experience marked an important milestone in his artistic career. Ever since he was 16 he has shown strong feelings of enthusiasm for spinning vinyls and great skills in manipulating music. From the age of 20 to 28 he has been in charge of dj console at the best underground parties in Naples where he has worked with many djs such as Derrick May, Tiga, Dj Qu, Ben Ufo, Blawan, Roman Flugel, dj Tennis, Scuba, Raresh, Praslea, Dana Ruh, Alex Picone, Adriatique, Supernova, Analogue Cops, Prosumer, The Black Madonna ,Lehar, Musimeci, Solar. At the age of 21 he studied at the Nut Academy in Italy where he got his diploma in Electronic Music Producer and Live Performer. In 2009 he spent 6 months in London where he mastered his manipulating music skills. Since 2010 he has taken an avid interest in the project work that is about the great vinyl, analogue world. In August 2016 he released the track “Bad” on Big Area Records. The track was appreciated by famous artists like Laurent Garnier , Gel Abril, Slaker, Michel De Hey and others. In December 2016 he released the “Lost Phone” ep on Isolated Records Berlin .In June 2017 he released his first 8 tracks album “Un Viaggio nella Natura “ on Big Area Records. The album is inspired by a true story. Its titles, order of the tracks, melodies, groove and images describe the places and emotions felt during the artist’s amazing journey. In 2018 Domenico joined into a new freshly made organization called VJ Lab, based in Naples and making many parties in Campania area and all over Italy. After years spent paying his dues in Milan’s historic clubs, from Old Fashion to Trattoria Toscana, in unauthorized centri sociali or ‘squat clubs’, fashion shows and radio work, he turned his attention to production. He explored a variety of genres, from trip hop to swing, passing through jungle, West London and Detroit house, to deep house, while never abandoning jazz – the wildest and most impeccable of all - progressively building a digital project. Out of this came the concept of Jazzy, the ability to make jazz and electronic music communicate. This passion is also manifest in the Oneboy project - musical instruments played live to a DJ set. Giuseppe put this project together with writer Tatiana Carelli under the name Taji bpm. Oneboy performed at the 2007 Salone Del Mobile furniture show, at various national festivals and events and on an Italian tour in 2008. Also with Taji he created the Discokit® project, a kind of “sensory stimulation kit” – the dance club becomes ‘takeaway’ and enters the world of art with more than 60 events held over two years. The discography is varied and rich in international collaborations, starting with releases for Multivitamins, then for the PRO-TEZ, Circle Music, Dabit, Piston Recordings and Vibe Me Records.
