ReclaimEDM.com: music channel for deep underground quality music
#ReclaimEDM Podcast 02 features unique soulful deep-house tracks from around the world, mixed live by DJ nomsta. (www.nomsta.net), featuring tracks by Chewy Rubs, Dubble D presents Moodymanc, Johannes Albert, Vincenzo, Bassart, Michael Mayer, Joe Goddard, MANTU, Salif Keita x Megablast, KERINNIS, Anja Schneider, La Fleur, Gezender and L Cio. The mix starts with the tempo of 116 bpm, as most upbeat funk tracks would similarly be, opening with "Get Down" a remix of the 1978 Gene Chandler song by disco-nu-disco re-editor/producer Chewy Rubs whose most recent release was on Yam Who's Midnight Riot label, I let the funk flow keeping all the tracks strictly at 116 bpm for a steady deepburn groove. Mixing by looping in the claps and vocal one shot of 2007 old-but-gold 20:20 Vision release of "Wiggle" by Manchester jazz drummer house producer Moodymanc aka Dubble D, the track has this vintage deep house, perfect to follow with more of the 80s-electro Chicago feeling by Johannes Albert's Hip Edits of the 1987 Mickey Oliver song "Never Let Go" featuring the vocals of Shanna Jay with updated kicks and bassline. 20-something years old Italian Corrado Bucci is a bit of a wonder child/posterboy of the jazzy-soulful house circles with his sophisticated productions seeing pressings from top quality labels like Compost, Defected, Local Talk and BBE Music, who also does A&R and scouting now for Japanese label Rebirth Records where he signed his debut to in 2012. Soulful deep house Berliner Vincenzo gave an uplifting remix to Bucci's "Sumthin'" which is a great filler to bridge to Dortmund/Berlin label Raving Society's dubby synthy lush electro release of "Innstruments" by fellow German Bassart. Indie-electro band Hot Chip's member and vocalist Joe Goddard has been putting out solo material since around 2009 and has formed a bit of a production partnership with Kompakt Records' co-owner and veteran Michael Mayer, so it's not surprising to see him providing a remix to Goddard's latest release on Domino "Children". I had to play a cheeky bootleg of Malinese "Golden Voice of Africa" Salif Keita's ode to women and feminism in Africa, "Moussolou", which also features female Malinese singer Oumou Sangare. Osunlade did an official Yoruba Soul mix of the song but it has a more organic feel although it's till a deep house track, I like the club feel of Megablast's re-edit which is really more like a remix. A bit of trivia about "Wassoulou sound" of Mali - since their independence in the 60's, the Wassoulou region of Mali has produced many strong female musicians creating new music based on their traditional dances and rhythms combined with the djembe drums and a harp-like instrument invented by local youths during this period called the kamalengoni, which gave birth to music unique to Wassoulou that communicates a sense of youthful rebellion and freedom. 2nd half of the mix goes deeper into deeper house and quite accidentally stringing a list of Berlin based artists together. I'm very excited about Berlin-based Get Physical artist MANTU aka Manuel Overbeck who has started his own label Raving Society and has signed some outstanding releases of late. His very own "Underwater Solution" has been described as melancholic but I think it's just the deep jazzy chords and bassline doing its thing. I also got sent a promo EP that includes a dreamy spoken word deep house number "Poetry Jam" by another Berlin producer Kerinnis. Up next, is "Secret Escapes" by yet another Berliner but a veteran, Anja Schneider from her first album after 9 years on her new label SoUS after leaving Mobilee the label she found more than a decade ago. La Fluer is a Swedish-now-living-in Berlin and has this new deep tech house track "Femton" out on the legendary club-label Watergate where he is also one of the resident DJs. The track was also featured in their Nov 2017 Watergate XV compilation. To finish, a remix of "Duhka" by a Brazilian producer L Cio for another Brazilian Gezender, who said that the track was inspired by zen music, mantras and Buddhist songs and was trying to "bring it to sensibile and sensory techno with spiritual, philosophical and political questions". Now, that's what I called deep. Tracklist / Chewy Rubs - Get Down - Chewy Rubs Extendedit Dubble D presents Moodymanc - Wriggle - Original Mix Johannes Albert / Hip Edits - Never Throw - Re-edit of Mickey Oliver & Shanna Jay's Never Let Go Corrado Bucci - Sumthin´ - Vincenzo Remix Bassart - Innstruments - Original Mix Joe Goddard - Children - Michael Mayer Remix Salif Keita - Moussolou - Megablast unofficial Remix MANTU - Underwater Solution KERINNIS - Poetry Jam Anja Schneider - Secret Escapes - Original Mix La Fleur - Femton - Original Mix Gezender - Duhkha - L_Cio Remix The mix is available on all major music social platforms. Apparel Music NYE mix 2K17 powered by @kisk Giuseppe D'Alessandro - aka Kisk - is the owner of Apparel Music, a label based in London but with multi-cultural roots. After years spent paying his dues in Milan’s historic clubs, from Old Fashion to Trattoria Toscana, in unauthorized centri sociali or ‘squat clubs’, fashion shows and radio work, he turned his attention to production. He explored a variety of genres, from trip hop to swing, passing through jungle, West London and Detroit house, to deep house, while never abandoning jazz – the wildest and most impeccable of all - progressively building a digital project. Out of this came the concept of Jazzy, the ability to make jazz and electronic music communicate. This passion is also manifest in the Oneboy project - musical instruments played live to a DJ set. Giuseppe put this project together with writer Tatiana Carelli under the name Taji bpm. Oneboy performed at the 2007 Salone Del Mobile furniture show, at various national festivals and events and on an Italian tour in 2008. Also with Taji he created the Discokit® project, a kind of “sensory stimulation kit” – the dance club becomes ‘takeaway’ and enters the world of art with more than 60 events held over two years. The discography is varied and rich in international collaborations, starting with releases for Multivitamins (UK), then for the PRO-TEZ (Russia), The dub (IT) and Vibe Me Records (ES). The discography is varied and rich in international collaborations, starting with releases for Multivitamins, then for the PRO-TEZ, Circle Music, Dabit, Piston Recordings and Vibe Me Records. In 2009, Giuseppe creates Apparel Music - a ‘kitchen’ of artists from all over the planet. Among the many partnerships are long-established collaborations in Russia with the duo SCSI-9 and in Germany with major artists like Lopazz, Elon, Chris Wood, Tom Clark, Ekkohaus as well as Delano Smith, Moodymanc, Domu, Tuccillo, Ali Kuru, Yapacc, Casio Casino, Sarp Yilmaz, Huxley, Lula Circus, Roy Gilles, Fog, Gavin Herlihy and the list goes on. Welcome to 2014 and kicking things off this year is my mix from a NYE event in D.C a few days ago. Usually with my live mixes these days I operate 4 decks via my DJ controller and Traktor. This allows me to layer several tracks over each other for a unique sampled sound and feel while still cueing a third and sometimes a fourth track in seamlessly. As with any live performance, little glitches here and there etc; but overall a very enjoyable 2 hours of mostly new tracks I got for that night. As always…Enjoy! Tracklist 01. Episode 3 of the 22 Digit Deep Tech house podcast series featuring a tribute to Shindig's 21st birthday and a guest mix from Moodymanc. "Moodymanc" has become one of the most respected names in house music today. The cheeky monniker was given as a nickname to Danny Ward by his cohorts at 2020 Vision recordings due to his heavily jazz tinged productions and Mancunian roots (Danny was a Hacienda regular and performer back in the day) whilst he was producing his two widely acclaimed albums and may 12"s under the name "Dubble D" and as part of "2020 Soundsystem". The rest is house music history with the first series of 12"s on his own imprint through 2020Vision leading to releases on labels including Tsuba and Dessous (as well as 2020Vision itself), and underground 12"s on boutique labels including Landed, Abstract Theory and Fly By Night. The considerable success and response of these releases, not to mention his chart topping eps "Black Paint", "Joy" and "Father" have showcased his unique production skills and lead to him becoming one of the most in demand re-mixers around, keeping his name consistently in the bestseller and DJ charts and earning the respect of most of the big hitters on the scene, whilst his tribute re-work of Whitney Houston's "It's not right, but it's okay" continues to be an internet sensation. Danny's roots lie in his background as a jazz musician (he still regularly performs with some of Europe and the US's finest) leading him to gain work with such beat luminaries as Rae and Christian, the Pharcyde, Fila Brasilia and many more before taking the drum and production seats in 2020 soundsystem with Ralph Lawson and Silver City, this led him to perform and dj at some of the biggest clubs, dance events and festivals across the world and has seen him create a large media presence having graced the cover of DJ magazine and been featured in all the Dance music glossies as well as the underground blogs. 2013 is kicking off in fine style for Danny with Moodymanc re-mixes of 95 North's classic "Let Yourself Go" tearing up dancefloors and vinyl eps in line for spring release on Frole , Abstract Theory and Gimmick, plus a "Dubble D" ep on Dark Energy and further side projects and an album planned for later in the year. Moodymanc is continuing to cause a big stir amongst the house community of late. Having previously released under the guise of Dubble D and performing drum and production duties with 20 20 Soundsystem (which has put him on the front cover of DJ magazine!). Danny Ward now delivers house bombs as Moodymanc that are being championed by the premier league of artists and music lovers across the board. Moodymanc has had great success with recent E.P's on labels such as Tsuba, Neurotraxx Deluxe, 20 20 Vision, Dessous and Kolour to name a few. His status as a DJ, producer, remixer and highly acclaimed jazz musician continue to elevate as his honed talents set him apart from the rest. He has been in massive demand as a re-mixer, with recent mixes including Affkt's "Lost Key" on Suara, A Marques "New Orleans" on Sol Recordings and Kisk's "DIY2" on Apparel music gaining much chart success. Re-mixes for Ornate Music, Apparel music, Abstaract Theory and others are being released over the next few months. Moodymanc's "Seedz", from the same titled E.P has been re-released on Tsuba's latest compilation and featured on Cocoon's "Green and Blue" compilation. As well as this he has current releases on Neurotraxx deluxe (which stayed at no.2 in the beatport deep house charts), Centric Music, Scenic Tones and Apparel music. He has a current release on 'Tsuba Colours': the 'paint it black' EP featuring a re-mix by US house legend Larry Heard, which is creating a big buzz amongst the house faithful and press alike. The vinyl pressing sold out within a week and went to re-press after gaining more than 7000 plays on soundcloud in the week before release. It has just been released digitally on Beatport etc and looks like charting highly here too. Other releases are imminent on Ornate, 20 20 Vision, Abstarct Theory and Centric Music with more planned into the summer.
