While unpacking the good, the bad, and the Malaise, Derek realizes that maybe there's more to our perception of a 120-year-old brand than meets the eye. The flipside to that expansion is the sunsetting of its two existing V-Series performance cars, the ATS-V (both coupe and convertible) and CTS-V sedan. Two new unspecified sedans will slot below the CT6 in Cadillac's lineup, a spokesman said. The CT6-V will arrive next spring. As usual the guys have done some outstanding work but few people appreciate just how big of an undertaking the 48 was.  The car is FAR from a simple engine swap and in total it's truly a complete re-engineering of an ATS-V that happens to look like a 48 Caddy.

His passion for performance really got started when he went to college for mechanic engineering and joined the Formula SAE team. While at a competition in 2010, he met a representative of Pratt & Miller and ended up getting a job with them at their design office. This transitioned into a job at the Cadillac Racing team with Pratt & Miller. He worked on the CTS-V team for 4 years and now works on the ATS-V team. They use complex simulations and advanced telemetry data to make the cars perform at the absolute limit. With the rules constantly changing, the team has to adapt to stay ahead of the competition.

Thad, Matt and I sit down prior to their departure to film the season finalé for /Drive.  Matt and I give updates on the Mustand and Fiesta projects respectively, we discuss suspenion at length touching on the merits of magnetic ride control vs. coilovers, the ATS-V and C63 are seriously impressive machines so much so that they're nipping at the heels of the Ferrari 458 and 911 GT3 and there are bargain bin Aston Martins up for the taking.  Additionally I give my first impressions of Forza 6 and we answer listener questions.
