The Unnamed Automotive Podcast arrives this week with some engaged discussions about a pair of mainstream, yet exciting vehicles. But before any reviews, Benjamin shares his notes from his recent track day, where he tagged in his beefy Cadillac CTS-V for his nimble Datsun Z. After that, Benjamin describes the 2024 Hyundai Sonata, a strong player in the contracted world of mid-sized sedans. With a new design, and reworked packaging, can the new Sonata blow away the popularity of the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry? Then Sami talks about the 2024 Lexus RX 450h+, a PHEV version of the ever popular Lexus RX. On a long road trip, Sami had the time to experience how practical, efficient and luxurious the new plug-in RX is, but has a few issues with its approach to technology. Is it worth the nearly $20k upgrade from the entry level RX? Thanks for listening!

As the roar of a Cadillac CTS-V echoes through the streets, we catch up with V1.Moore, a pioneering woman whose love for cars is as undeniable as her skills behind the wheel. Today's journey takes us from the nostalgic influence of her grandfather to the adrenaline-fueled world of legal car events, as V1 shares her evolution from a Mustang aficionado to a Cadillac devotee. She's not just any driver—she's making history in the US swing scene, pushing boundaries and setting pulses racing. Grappling with the challenges of being a female in a male-dominated sport, she maneuvers through jealousy and drama with the grace of a seasoned drifter, leaving her mark on the tarmac and inspiring others to chase their passions.Amidst the symphony of revving engines, we celebrate the diversity of the local car crews, where SRTs and Challengers reign supreme yet Cadillacs and G8s carve their own path. We reminisce about the legends who've left their tire tracks on our hearts, now vanished from the limelight, and pledge to keep their stories alive. This episode isn't just about horsepower and high speeds—it's a glimpse into the life of a dedicated female driver, balancing the thrills of the chase with the warmth of family during holidays, and dreaming of coast-to-coast car scene explorations. Strap in for an exhilarating ride as we revel in the plans for an LS engine swap and the balletic precision of an angle kit, promising to bring a fresh wave of joy to the scene. With a heartfelt thanks to V1, we shift into neutral, already eager for the next time we reconnect on this automotive odyssey.Support the showFollow our instagram for more updates http://instagram.com/therollbackshow
GM and Mary Barra confront more problems, including a "stop sell" for the BEV Chevrolet Blazer and Edmunds announcing that their test Blazer, the Motor Trend SUV of the year, if you can believe it, had 23 problems that kept it at the dealership for 2wks of their 2mos experience with it. Shame on Motor Trend for their award! We spot a 1986 Pontiac Firebird and revel in its '80s graphics. No, it won't ever be a collector car. Trauma surgeon Stephan Moran, MD discusses Waymo and how that Google-related self-driving car company is leading the way toward safe roadways. Our collector car expert Adams Hudson asks in this week's, "This or That?" would you want an older Cadillac CTS-V wagon or a newer Porsche Cayenne GTS SUV? The 800hp (to the crank) 7.2L/440cu Lingenfelter Eliminator R Spec LS7 contains forged rotating assemblies, CNC-ported cylinder heads, competition-grade fasteners, precision balance procedures & hydraulic roller camshaft internally, as well as a Dailey Engineering dry sump, Performance Design intake manifold with some tuning being done to the intake runner lengths over time. With just oil changes over the last 2 seasons of racing it certainly seems to be a package that is working well for Jake in this application. The hydraulic cam profile is in its element with the 8,000rpm redline being within the comfort zone and the 14:1 compression engine runs E85 via a flex fuel setup in street form and Ignite Ready 90 on race day. Engine management is done by a GM ACDelco E92 ECU from a later model vehicle of the Cadillac CTS-V & Corvette C6 ZR1 era. While an advantage of retaining a OEM GM ECU originally was the ability to keep features like the stock ABS system, Jake has since gone the popular route of fitting an aftermarket/standalone $1200 MK60 ABS system with an off-the-shelf tune from CSL Performance and he gives us some insight into the installation and use of such an ABS system which are becoming more and more popular at club level racing despite the initial push back from the good old armchair racers we've seen over the years.

On this episode of Hagerty's No Reserve, Larry and Dave discuss how the kids today really do seem to love the BMW brand as an enthusiast entry point, a 2021 Koenigsegg Regera that didn't make reserve at auction, an ex-Richard Burns WRC Subaru Impreza and an upcoming auction for a manual Cadillac CTS-V wagon. All of this and more on this week's No Reserve. About the podcast: No Reserve is hosted by Larry Webster, editor of Hagerty Media and Dave Kinney, publisher of the Hagerty price guide. The Cadillac CTS-V reset GM's luxury arm's image when it launched all the way back in 2004. Nearly 20 years later, the CT5-V Blackwing is picking up where the hopped-up Caddy left off. While some of the CTS-V's attitude has softened during the transition to its new CT5-V Blackwing nameplate, the performance is only higher. Powering the CT5-V Blackwing is a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that sends 668 hp and 659 lb-ft of torque through a six-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels. If you want to live the life of luxury and have the gears shifted for you automatically, Cadillac will replace that six-speed manual with a 10-speed automatic. On this episode of Quick Spin, Patrick Carone hops behind the wheel of the '23 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and puts it through its paces. Carone guides you around the Cadillac and discusses the styling, material and features. Later in the show, Carone takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to the show, Carone chats with host Wesley Wren about the car's features, competitive set and price. Closing the show, the pair break down what makes the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing special.

Fred Mei has been a Vienna Cars + Coffee mainstay since our first event in August 2021. On this episode of the pod, Fred shares his story of finding his 2013 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon in upstate NY at a Ferrari dealership after a trade-in from the previous owner needing a 14th Ferrari (sure, why not). Fred was looking for a 6-speed manual Wagon, Pre-owned and that is just what he got in Thunder Gray Chromaflair. Upon purchase in 2013 this spec was only 1 of 15 and one of GM's rarest manufactured cars at the time. When not parked at Vienna Cars + Coffee, you'll find Fred's CTS-V occasionally around town and thrilling his kids letting them choose quiet or loud mode as they head to and from school.
We take a trip back memory lane in the car industry and speculate bringing back Discontinued Cars that were an icon in their heyday. We talk about the amazing 2018 Cadillac CTS-V, discuss whether it's a good idea to Buy Someone Else's Project Car and ask ourselves: has Krispy fallen off?
Who invented the sport sedan? — The Carmudgeon Show — Ep. 16Here’s a hint: it ain’t BMW. Derek and Jason postulate that Alfa Romeo invented the sport sedan at about the same time that BMW was making things like the Isetta bubble-car. This episode is an information-packed, hour-long discussion about the origin of the sports sedan — and what that term even means. There’s a difference between a sedan that’s fast in a straight line (Mercedes 6.3, 6.9, Maserati Quattroporte I) and a sedan that handles like a sports car (Alfa Giulietta). Giulietta really started the trend — even though sporting Jaguars like the Mk1 and Mk2 were already being regularly raced. But Alfa continued with the Giulia Super before BMW stumbled on the 2002 by accident — though it was a two-door sedan. But then BMW started to perfect the recipe with the E12 M535i - where it put its biggest engine in a sporty sedan, and then cemented success with the E28 M5. So while Alfa Romeo invented the sport sedan with the Giulietta, BMW perfected it with the M5.Today, every serious car company makes a sporty variant of its cars, but only some really qualify as sport sedans: the Maserati Quattroporte V, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, Aston Martin Rapide, the Mercedes 190E 2.3-16, the BMW M3 and M5. The Cadillac CTS-V was a true sport sedan, albeit 50 years late to the party, as was the Chevrolet SS, the true successor to the E39 M5, which is perhaps the best sports sedan of all time. Has Japan ever made a true sports sedan? Nissan thought so with the Maxima 4DSC, but Lexus made a true contender with the IS300 and with today’s ISF and GSF. Infiniti nailed the second-generation M45. VW’s had the Jetta GLI since the original Mk1. But the sport sedan that both Carmudgeons lust after is the Opel / Vauxhall Lotus Carlton. ==The Carmudgeon Show is a comedic, information-filled conversation with Jason Cammisa and Derek Tam-Scott, two car enthusiasts who are curmudgeonly beyond their years. Proving you don’t have to be old to be grumpy, they spend each episode talking about what’s wrong with various parts of the automotive universe. Despite their best efforts to keep it negative, they usually wind up laughing, happy, and extolling their love for cars. Which just makes them angrier and more bitter.Jason Cammisa is an automotive journalist, social-media figure, and TV host with over 250 million views on YouTube alone. Jason’s deeply technical understanding, made possible by a lifelong obsession with cars, allows him to fully digest what’s going on within an automobile — and then put it into simple terms for others to understand. Also, a Master’s Degree in Law trained him to be impossible to argue with. Derek Tam-Scott still tries. He’s a young automotive expert with old-man taste in cars, and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering — which means he knows how to be civil to Jason. Or at least he tries. With a decade and a half’s experience buying, selling, driving and brokering classic and exotic cars, he’s experienced the world’s most iconic cars. And hated most of them. Gears and Beers: The Unashamedly Unprofessional Automotive Podcast
We're back for episode 133, this week we talk about the stuff we forgot to talk about in episode 132. We start by talking about us rating well on Podchaser's best of 2019 for Automotive podcasts. So, we kick off the news this week with a bit of Ford Australia news. Ford is finally chucking the Mustang's Coyote 5L V8 in the Ranger Raptor! We then talk about Donut Media's Up To Speed on the Cadillac CTS-V, and comparing its 640hp V8 against the HSV GTSR-W1 which has 646Hp. We then talk a bit more about Toyota / Gazoo Racing's Yaris, which finally has had its power released complete with full reveal photographs of the car... And we talk about Dodge's Challenger Mitch then talks about the latest developments and roadblocks with his Honda Integra project (Shitegra). We then talk about good experiences with car part sellers and the frustration of finding a good mechanic in the Brisbane area. We then talk about Sony unveiling their concept electric car at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show), from which we talk about how some of the magic is leaving car development. Joseph then talks about DAMD making body kits for the Suzuki Jimny; Little D (Land Rover Defender), Little G (Mercedes G Wagen), and the Dronko (Ford Bronco), and the Roots which pays homage to the LJ10 Sierra. We then finish off with playing Simon's game that we've unfortunately forgotten the name of in this episode. John Hindhaugh travels to Canada for this real world road test, of the Cadillac CTS-V.
Sami is terrified - really and truly - after spending a week behind the wheel of the ferocious 2018 BMW M5, but wonders why you need to input the Konami code to really have a good time. Benjamin counters with the 2018 Cadillac CTS-V's 640-horsepower simplicity, and then contrasts it against the much more raw experience of driving his own first-year, first-generation CTS-V with a manual transmission. The pair wrap things up by lamenting Ford's short-sighted decision to leave the car market in the pursuit of trucks and SUVs.
Brad Fanshaw and Matt "The Motorator" D'Andria are in-studio with Aaron Hagar calling in for this week's episode of Shift & Steer. The guys chat about Driving the 640hp Cadillac CTS-V and Race with Special guest Fabryce Kutyba from GT Technik

Literally immediately off the plane from the 2018 Ford F-150 drive, we touch on the new powertrains offered on North America's best-selling truck. In the garage is the 2017 Honda Civic Type R, Volvo V90 R-Design, and 2018 Nissan 370Z; which we compare extensively to the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ. Our newest writer, Kevin Wong, has driven the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT Sport with the six-speed manual, and has a ton of input to offer about it. Adi is back from a long road trip with a new Cadillac Escalade ESV Platinum, and Jerry has just taken to the racetrack with the Cadillac CTS-V and ATS-V. Tons going on here, tune in!
This week Benjamin and Sami both drive brand-new versions of cars they happen to own - the Cadillac CTS-V and the Toyota 86 - and then spend way too much time talking about hidden car features both real, and imagined.
Solo time again for Garrett as he talks about the 1993 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 1981 CAFE-regulations-never-happened, and rally Mustangs. He also gets kind of serious and talks about his dream car turning into reality.

We've got a special update about some of the new vehicles debuting at this week's Detroit auto show. Porsche returns to the event for the first time in four years and plans to show a racing version of the 918 Spyder. Speaking of race cars, Cadillac will debut the racing version of the CTS-V Coupe. Chevy will show its replacement for the Aveo called the Sonic. All that and more, plus a look at the new Kia Optima Turbo.
Put Cadillac's 556-horsepower supercharged V8 into just about anything and chances are we'll like it -but Inside Line Senior Editor Ed Helwig tells us that it's really in the details.
Put Cadillac's 556-horsepower supercharged V8 into just about anything and chances are we'll like it. We loved it in the CTS-V sedan. And there's no reason to assume that we won't love it just as much in the CTS-V coupe that the company is to unveil at the Detroit auto show. Hell, bolt that thing to an Aztek-bodied CTS-V variant and there's a good chance we'll like it just fine. Nothing tricky here; Cadillac has kept the powertrain and suspension specs essentially identical to the sedan, because, well, why wouldn't it?
