The Unnamed Automotive Podcast arrives this week with some engaged discussions about a pair of mainstream, yet exciting vehicles. But before any reviews, Benjamin shares his notes from his recent track day, where he tagged in his beefy Cadillac CTS-V for his nimble Datsun Z. After that, Benjamin describes the 2024 Hyundai Sonata, a strong player in the contracted world of mid-sized sedans. With a new design, and reworked packaging, can the new Sonata blow away the popularity of the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry? Then Sami talks about the 2024 Lexus RX 450h+, a PHEV version of the ever popular Lexus RX. On a long road trip, Sami had the time to experience how practical, efficient and luxurious the new plug-in RX is, but has a few issues with its approach to technology. Is it worth the nearly $20k upgrade from the entry level RX? Thanks for listening!

All of this and more on this week's No Reserve. About the podcast: No Reserve is hosted by Larry Webster, editor of Hagerty Media and Dave Kinney, publisher of the Hagerty price guide. The Cadillac CTS-V reset GM's luxury arm's image when it launched all the way back in 2004. Nearly 20 years later, the CT5-V Blackwing is picking up where the hopped-up Caddy left off. While some of the CTS-V's attitude has softened during the transition to its new CT5-V Blackwing nameplate, the performance is only higher. Powering the CT5-V Blackwing is a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that sends 668 hp and 659 lb-ft of torque through a six-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels. If you want to live the life of luxury and have the gears shifted for you automatically, Cadillac will replace that six-speed manual with a 10-speed automatic. On this episode of Quick Spin, Patrick Carone hops behind the wheel of the '23 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and puts it through its paces. Carone guides you around the Cadillac and discusses the styling, material and features. Later in the show, Carone takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to the show, Carone chats with host Wesley Wren about the car's features, competitive set and price. Closing the show, the pair break down what makes the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing special.
Another high speed podcast from your favorite high speed hosts! Benjamin and Sami dive into some serious discussions about a pair of sport sedans. First up Ben gets his hands on the 668 hp 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. As the owner of a first gen CTS-V there are few more qualified to describe just how this fiery four-door drives. Listen to Benjamin run down the history of sport sedans and why the Blackwing is such a highlight these days. Then Sami comes on to dish some high speed electric car knowledge after his long distance trip in the 2022 Porsche Taycan GTS. From preconditioning batteries to high speed chargers and special drive modes, Sami teaches a bewildered Ben how much electric vehicle drivers have to go through to get the same road trip experience that gas powered cars can handle without a second thought. After listening, don't forget to head on over to the website, subscribe or leave us a tip on ko-fi!

Fred Mei has been a Vienna Cars + Coffee mainstay since our first event in August 2021. On this episode of the pod, Fred shares his story of finding his 2013 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon in upstate NY at a Ferrari dealership after a trade-in from the previous owner needing a 14th Ferrari (sure, why not). Fred was looking for a 6-speed manual Wagon, Pre-owned and that is just what he got in Thunder Gray Chromaflair. Upon purchase in 2013 this spec was only 1 of 15 and one of GM's rarest manufactured cars at the time. When not parked at Vienna Cars + Coffee, you'll find Fred's CTS-V occasionally around town and thrilling his kids letting them choose quiet or loud mode as they head to and from school.
The Cadillac CT5-V might have disappointed some when it made its debut two years ago. With the V-badge and without a supercharged V8, fans might have thought that wasn't going to replace the over-the-top CTS-V in their driveway. Well, with the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing finally available, the standard CT5-V starts to shine as a V-Sport replacement. The CT5-V might not have a V8, but it does use a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 for power that makes 360 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. That V6 is mated to a ten-speed automatic which feeds either the rear wheels or an all-wheel-drive system. An electronic limited-slip diff at the rear helps manage traction, and the magnetic ride control works to keep the tires on the pavement. On this episode of Quick Spin, Patrick Carone puts the latest CT5-V through its paces after walking you around the car. Carone lets you ride shotgun while he reviews the car and shares his thoughts and experiences. Between the live review and the walkaround, Carone expands on his thoughts on the CT5-V with host Wesley Wren. The pair also discuss where this CT5-V sits in the market. Closing the show, the pair break down what makes the 2021 CT5-V special.

Is Cadillac offering the best luxury/sport sedan value today? The CT5 V-Series is a joy to toss into a tight turn and costs thousands of dollars less than its German competition. It may not have the raw horsepower of the late great CTS V, but for real world romps on empty country roads, this new model has the finesse needed for a great time. Tom Voelk checks out a well equipped CT5 V in Shadow Metallic and asks the question- does this car need any options at all?

The Secure Transportation and Executive Protection News for Thursday, September 20th, 2018 In Vehicle News The Computer Chip in Your Butt A while back, an article in Racecar Engineering Magazine discussed the effects of “self-aligning torque” on the driving task. Self-Aligning Torque is the amount of effort or force needed to move the steering wheel. It is measured in pounds and is the vehicle’s way of communicating to the driver that everything is cool, no worries, or that in a few tenths of seconds, you and the principal will be experiencing a lot of excitement. https://isdacenter.org/the-computer-chip-in-your-butt/ ========== And from Autoblog Cadillac to expand V-Series but discontinue CTS-V and ATS-V Cadillac said Tuesday it will expand its V-Series performance sub-brand with the arrival of the CT6-V sedan in 2019 (formerly known as the CT6 V-Sport), with plans to add high-performance variants across its portfolio. The flipside to that expansion is the sunsetting of its two existing V-Series performance cars, the ATS-V (both coupe and convertible) and CTS-V sedan. Two new unspecified sedans will slot below the CT6 in Cadillac's lineup, a spokesman said. The CT6-V will arrive next spring. It will feature Cadillac's new "Blackwing" V8, a twin-turbo engine that displaces 4.2 liters and produces an estimated 550 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque, sending it through GM's new 10-speed automatic transmission to drive all four wheels. https://www.autoblog.com/2018/09/19/cadillac-expand-v-series-discontinue-cts-v-ats-v/ ====================== In Cyber Security News From Tech Crunch State Department confirms data breach exposed employee data The State Department has confirmed a data breach affecting an unknown number of employees. Sami is terrified - really and truly - after spending a week behind the wheel of the ferocious 2018 BMW M5, but wonders why you need to input the Konami code to really have a good time. Benjamin counters with the 2018 Cadillac CTS-V's 640-horsepower simplicity, and then contrasts it against the much more raw experience of driving his own first-year, first-generation CTS-V with a manual transmission. The pair wrap things up by lamenting Ford's short-sighted decision to leave the car market in the pursuit of trucks and SUVs.
Netflix made a movie! And it's got Forrest Whitaker in it! And it sucks! We love post-apocalypse movies at Reels and Wheels, so we had high hopes for How it Ends, the Netflix original that scrounged up enough cash to hire Forrest Whitaker. Sadly, the movie is just not good. Will wants to marry Samantha, but Samantha's father, Tom hates his guts. Then the apocalypse happens and Will and Tom have to drive 2,000 miles to find Samantha because of course they do. Suffering through the movie with us is Tom's Cadillac CTS - not a CTS-V, so don't get too excited, but still an interesting choice for a post-apocalyptic road trip. Hopefully it gets better from here, Netflix. Subscribe to Reels and Wheels on iTunes, Stitcher or Google Play and leave some feedback! @ReelsandWheels @S2KJames @SidBridgeComedy

We start off talking a little bit about Cadillac this week. Paul then answers a C4 clutch problem. Paul then talks a little bit about C5 fuel filters.
His passion for performance really got started when he went to college for mechanic engineering and joined the Formula SAE team. While at a competition in 2010, he met a representative of Pratt & Miller and ended up getting a job with them at their design office. This transitioned into a job at the Cadillac Racing team with Pratt & Miller. He worked on the CTS-V team for 4 years and now works on the ATS-V team. They use complex simulations and advanced telemetry data to make the cars perform at the absolute limit. With the rules constantly changing, the team has to adapt to stay ahead of the competition.
Returning from the forbidden zone; Carlso Lago (@CarlosLago) joins us alongside Joe Carioti (@JoeQCar) of ShoutEngine and Just Cool Enough. We know a little bit more about the new CFO at General Motors, Daniel Ammann and here's the best part, he owns a '61 Cadillac convertible and drives a CTS-V wagon. General Motors announced it will bring the Chevy Captiva Sport to the U.S. to sell to fleet customers. BMW just revealed its redesigned 6 Series which features numerous upgrades. All that and more, plus John shares his impressions of how Ford's EcoBoost technology performs with smaller engines in bigger vehicles.
Put Cadillac's 556-horsepower supercharged V8 into just about anything and chances are we'll like it. We loved it in the CTS-V sedan. And there's no reason to assume that we won't love it just as much in the CTS-V coupe that the company is to unveil at the Detroit auto show. Hell, bolt that thing to an Aztek-bodied CTS-V variant and there's a good chance we'll like it just fine. Nothing tricky here; Cadillac has kept the powertrain and suspension specs essentially identical to the sedan, because, well, why wouldn't it?
