REBOOT IT episode 6 murders all the slasher tropes as Billy Business, Ed Greer, Ron Swallow and Producer Bill reboot Mrs. Voorhees' favorite franchise: Friday The 13th! We boil down the archetypal teen horror film to its barest bones and pick apart every piece of it: The hockey mask, the teen sex, Camp Crystal Lake, even Jason himself - none of it is safe! With a wild mix of tone and structure recalling everything from Elephant to The Shining to Bo Burnham's Eighth Grade, we rebuild the franchise into something dark, eerie, and disturbingly 21st century, while tackling the most vexing question to all horror writers: To paranormal, or not to paranormal? Kayla Day is your typical shy, awkward, and lonely eighth grader who literally cannot even wait for high school XD. This week, it's Bo Burnham's Eighth Grade. Listen as we revisit our own horrifying middle school experiences through the painfully accurate lens of this masterpiece. We're here to tell you what's Gucci.
Middle School: In most towns in America it encompasses 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. You're stuck between the innocence of grade school and the horny boredom of high school. They don't make a lot of movies about middle school: they're more into what's before and after. But today on Adult Films with Collin and Ron, the first podcast to ever deal with movies by telling cum jokes about them, tha boyz are joined by comedian/actor/writer/etc Jeremy Drazner to break down middle school movies! Bo Burnham's Eighth Grade, Welcome To The Dollhouse, Harry Potter, The 400 Blows, a bunch of Passion Of The Christ talk for some reason, and so much more! Plus, a round of What's Their Age Again (which is problematic but not as problematic as you might think by the name) and then not recommendations cause we forgot to do that.

Crooked Table Podcast - The world of film from a fresh angle
In Episode 99 of the Crooked Table Podcast, Robert Yaniz Jr. welcomes Jackson Smith of Screen Fever to the show to discuss one of our favorite films of 2018 (no, really), writer/director Bo Burnham's Eighth Grade. Anchored by an all-too-real performance by Elsie Fisher, the film chronicles the final days in the life of your average middle-school girl. In his debut film, Burnham captures the terror and tragedy of being 13 in a coming-of-age drama like no other (and one that was recently robbed of Academy Award contention). It's a film full of heart, horror and, ultimately, hope that puts this critical time in one's life into perspective through the lens of technology and the specific challenges faced by today's youth. Naturally, Rob and Jackson's conversation gets personal, as they reminisce about their own adolescent periods in discussing how Burnham's film tackles it. While the film tells the story of a teenage girl in 2018, it emerges as one of the most impactful and universally relatable accounts of that awkward stage between childhood and adulthood. Of course, Eighth Grade was a critical darling when it was released, but we make the case for why it will endure far more than most other films of its kind. Ready to discover why we're all a bit like Kayla Day? Hit play, and we'll see you on the other side. Gucci! SHOW NOTES Want to appear on a future episode of the Crooked Table Podcast? Part coming-of-age film, part social anxiety horror movie, Bo Burnham's Eighth Grade brings back uncomfortable memories about the most awkward year spent growing up for just about everybody. Everybody except for Luke, that is, who is a freak for actually liking middle school. Regardless, even he couldn't help but cover his eyes when witnessing all the awful experiences that come with being a teen again. In the end, somehow the guy who started out making vulgar raps about math and Helen Keller on YouTube released the most relatable film of the year, so never stop following your dreams. As long as those dreams include listening to Talk Movies To Me.

Today we have an EXTREMELY special guest, cinematographer Andrew Wehde, to talk with us about Bo Burnham's Eighth Grade! GUICCI!
