Eric Jorgenson is the author of The Almanack of Naval Ravikant, which collects and curates Naval's wisdom from Twitter, Podcasts, and Essays over the past decade. He is also the founder of the Leverage Course, which was created to help people learn how to accomplish superhuman feats by playing a different game — building leverage. On this episode, Chris and Eric discuss the process for writing the book and the impact that Naval has had on Eric's life. They also go in-depth on creating online courses, including the things that did and didn't work. They finish with a great discussion on creating leverage in a world that could evolve into one where more people operate anonymously online. Enjoy! Welcome to a new quarantine project brought to you by the RealzTenisFanz Podcast! We are excited to have the lovely Deb (@shackle52) that most of you already know from twitter to join Realz (@realztenisfanz) and Janina (@jlr78) as we break down the Harry Potter series while Andreen is locked up in Azkaban for not sharing our love of this magical world! We will be taking a literary dive into all 7 Harry Potter books in chronological order. We hope you will be an active part of this series. We welcome as always suggestions, comments, criticism, praise, questions and nuanced insights. Be warned that there might be some cuss words but we will strive to never go beyond PG-13 rating. In this episode we, “conclude” Book 1: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone/Philosopher's Stone. We get to the People and the Plot of the opening book. We deliberate on the “Trinity”: Harry, Hermione and Ron. We begin to ask the question as to whether Hermione is the real hero of the group. How does one function in a magical world with the power of magic at your fingertip? Why does Ron have an old wand, a hand-me-down from his brother Charlie? What of the Weasleys and their status in the magical world? Bullying in the magical world? Did we all hate Professor Snape from the start? What of the ending? What stood out for us? The answer to last episode’s trivia is given. The trivia for this episode is: In an effort to secure the Sorcerer/Philosopher’s stone, the Hogwart’s teachers set various obstacles in connecting chambers underneath the school. Professor Snape’s effort saw him placing various portions in a row with clues to decipher their order so that one can either get through to the final chamber, leave safely, be stuck in the chamber or succumb to a poisonous death, depending on the bottle one chooses. You should find the information in the book on pages 228-229 or in Chapter 16 of Book. Read through the instructions and arrange them from Left to Right. Your responses on be on Twitter (DM, tweet) or in the comment section. Each of us host, will also have to work it out. As promised here are a series of questions we hope to answer and consider through our journey of the Harry Potter Book Series. No one asks Superman why the Holocaust happened on his watched? (Side note, the original inventors were Jewish men) yet Black Panther had to reconcile slavery and that was an overarching theme within it, Africa v the African Diaspora...Real world history becomes an issue when the fantasy world is rooted in the real world. Therefore, 1) Does fantasy world have to deal with real world history? 2) How do you think fantasy world can deal with real world history?3) Is it too complex for fantasy to deal with especially if it is children lit? 4) Why do fantasies always replicate many of the isms of the real world? For example, men are often the stronger character. Women as secondary characters. White characters take the lead. Characters of colour are often cast in subordinate roles. Able-ism Queer and oddities portrayals. Capitalism wins out even in fantasies. Class issues. Ageism 5) Is this marketing, propaganda or just writing what they know? 6) Is it that fantasies are mere continuation of real world events to maintain status quo if they are saying magic has to fight epic battles for one or the few? 7) Is this escapism? 8) Magic as a solution for anything or something? In today’s episode, Fredrik, Ivan and Charlie interview a Hostage and Crisis Negotiator, turned communications coach and businesswoman, Nicki Perfect. Yes, she is Ms Perfect. She has a wide amount of knowledge to share on how to deal with life and with the people around you. Learn about the 4 different types of Listening. Nicki shares her business tips for the younger generation, especially when they are still starting out. She also gives some important advice you can use and instantly apply in your daily lives. So, Tune In! KEY TAKEAWAYS Four types of LISTENING: Solution listening. This is when you are listening to the person and automatically gives a solution when you hear something that sounds like a problem that can be resolved. Attentive listening. This is a good trait. You just attentively listen to the one talking. Competitive listening. This is when you are listening to the person and you respond automatically as if you are in competition with the person. Your response will always be greater than the one talking. Combative listening. You will always find a way to bring the conversation in your favour. Business Tips especially for young beginners: You have to find out about money. Learn about money and how you can use the money for your own advantage. Learn how you can use the money to work for you. Think about other people’s perspective. But remember that it is their perspective. It does not mean that they are always correct. There will be a lot of people that will tell you not to do something. You have to choose your own group. Surround yourself with people that you want to follow. It creates an aura of positivity and you will be more encouraged to pursue the business that you have in mind. Invest in property. You have to have multiple income streams. Having one income stream is risky. Charlie: Do you like investing in yourself? Nicki: All the time. I’ve personally invested in myself and started to learn more and more. Charlie: What does Invest in you, mean to you? Nicki: That means that you take your experiences. Good or bad. And you take your life lessons with them and you use for your next steps. And you share with all the people. Teaser messages: It is not all about you. It’s understanding that your life is all about you and what you believe to be true Live in the moment. Live in the now. It is easier said than done. We all have our story. And we are all facing our own challenges. It is okay to share that story and help others learn from it. BEST MOMENTS “I realized that world is the people you meet every day, interaction everyday. How you can change their lives?” “Listen without judgment.” “Everyday is a school day. Fredrik and Charlie interview owner of Digital Marketing Agency, Brandlective Communications and creator of The Content Waterfall process & The Gamechanger Method, Stacey Kehoe. In today’s episode, discover how to dominate your brand, grow your social media and avoid the common mistakes businesses make when attempting to grow their digital marketing. With the experience of helping over 500 businesses, Stacey answers some killer marketing questions that will help you to build a brand, gain clarity and understand your value proposition. KEY TAKEAWAYS Charlie: Do you have any tips for building a good brand? Stacey: The first thing is deciding how you wish to be perceived, you have to offer some form of value in order to be indexed on google and understanding your value proposition and the story you want to tell to dictate the way you share your content. Charlie: What do you think is the difference in social media, when comparing different generations? Stacey: Every generation has different ways that they consume information, it’s more the millennial generation that favour Facebook and Instagram. However social media is consumed differently by different generations, there’s not one platform that’s used my one specific generation it’s a spread among multiple that simply follows trends. It’s important to have a presence across lots of platforms because you don’t know how trends or algorithms will change. Charlie: What are the most common mistakes businesses you work with make? Stacey: Usually lack of direction, businesses don't necessarily know why they want to grow their online presence. You need to understand why you want to grow and tighten up your niche to attract an audience. BEST MOMENTS “If you try to attract everybody to your business, you’ll end up attracting none. You need to become the natural choice for a specific niche.” “Marketing is not sales and sales is not marketing, but they feed each other” “Diversify your online presence and own a website” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://investincrowd.envestry.com/deals How to style your brand - Book ABOUT THE HOST Serial entrepreneurs Fredrik, Charlie and Ivan Sandvall love sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influences. In this podcast extra episode we present our full length interview with test pilot, astronaut and lunar module pilot on Apollo 16, General Charlie Duke. Drawing on this unique set of experiences, we asked Charlie: What surprised you or what weren't you expecting to see on the moon? How did having a rover change the way you could explore the moon? How much fun was the lunar rover? Which was most exciting, being capcom on the 1st moon landing or walking on the moon on Apollo 16? Is the proposed 2032 launch window for a human Mars mission achievable? Did you see any colour other than grey on the moon? Are there any features on Earth you can see from the moon? Were you able to see any star fields during the Apollo 16 mission? Then we turned the interview over to listeners' questions: @BrewsterNorth asked, what do you think of the commercial plans for lunar exploration? Gavin Price (@pillarscreatio) asked, how important is the moon as a staging post for Mars? David Blanchflower (@Davidbflower) asked, would you return to the moon now? @Openmind asked, did your attitude towards humanity and our planet change for having gone to the moon? And the now regular Cornwell Question (from @samcornwell): What's the most expensive thing you've ever broken?
