The stripes of red, white and blue conjure images of all kinds – depending on who you are, where you live but more importantly – what kind of comic books you read. The Marvel Comic Universe has become a behemoth, that has so many tendrils, tentacles and details – well, if you stop paying attention for just a brief series of days, you may just be lost in detail oblivion. We now live in a world where television series tie into movies, movies tie to Internet and Blu-ray shorts, and back again to the smaller HD screen – REGULARLY. Captain America: The Winter Solder does this – with definitive skill, with brazen courage, much like that of Cap diving out of the back of a cargo lifter with no parachute. The Action. The Storytelling. The Character Engagement. The World Building. It's all here inside the second offering of everyone's favorite thought to be dead but isn't Super Soldier, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Was this movie as good as the first? Is it a fitting piece into the mosaic that is the MCU?  Strap on your helmet, pull on your red gloves, don your vibranium shield via the magnetic clasps because it's time for the 2GuysTalking Perspective Review of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, here on the 2GuysSTalking Podcast Network. Chris's New Book Empathy and Understanding In Business In the business times of yesteryear, many did not believe that empathy and understanding mixed well with sound business decisions. However, with the more recent breed of entrepreneurs, many have increasingly recognized that successful and long-lasting relationships depend on using both empathy and understanding to build a solid foundation. The master of negotiation and Celebrity Expert(R) in this book, Chris Voss, reminds us that entrepreneurs want lasting relationships that build trust and clientele. He questions if anyone associates empathy with enterprise and entrepreneurism, and states that the qualities of trust and lasting relationships come out of understanding and respect for each other. In short, as stated by Brené Brown, "Empathy fuels connection." To learn more about negotiation and how the Celebrity Experts(R) herein have improved their negotiating skills, it would be beneficial to read about their accomplishments. They have honed their skills and can be great mentors. They will tell you what worked for them and what did not - saving you time, energy and cost of 'reinventing the wheel' - the path to success - in negotiating.

He highlights the value of understanding and addressing the other party's emotional standpoint in both business and personal negotiations. By doing so, people can make better deals and foster long-term relationships. Voss emphasizes the importance of addressing people's fears and practicing tactical empathy through labeling. This approach involves identifying and acknowledging the emotions involved in the negotiation. The movies show us exactly how hostage negotiation works. Cut to the helicopters, searchlights, the holed-up hostage taker and the hostage negotiator approaching on foot, arms extended, without cover and wearing no protection aside from the nylon windbreaker that says “Hostage Negotiator” across the back. In reality, only a very small percentage of law enforcement officers become crisis negotiators, and face the reality of impromptu callouts with little information and less-than-ideal settings from which to work. In this episode of the Policing Matters podcast, sponsored by Staccato, host Jim Dudley speaks with Jonathan Pultz, a 25-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department and author of the book “Negotiating Like Lives are on the Line.” Jonathan is currently a tactical team leader on the LAPD's SWAT team and a crisis negotiator. He has a Master's degree in Dispute Resolution and a certificate of Negotiation Mastery from Harvard Business School online. Jim and Jonathan discuss the training and experience necessary to become a good negotiator, barricade response scenarios, incident debriefings and more.
