This month, Wayne and Dan go to the moon (sort of)! We talk about the historic Artemis II mission, discuss some scientific mysteries about the moon, read some moon poetry and scripture which mentions the moon. We also, hopefully, make sense of how we see the moon pointing us to the glory of God in Christ. Image credits in the thumbnail. Moon and Earth - Artemis II crew and NASA. It's Mailbag Friday! You've got questions, we've got answers. Segment 1 • An elder at my church wants to start a group that prays for the Sunday service during the Sunday service. We are a small church that only holds one service, so this prayer group would miss the preaching of God's Word. What are your thoughts? - Anonymous • My teenage daughter wants to know if we can actually rebuke stuff in the name of Jesus. Is this just a trendy thing to be doing amongst young Christians right now? - Ash • Other than the fruit of the Spirit, are there any other signs that a person is filled with the Holy Spirit? - Anonymous • Is there a historical or biblical precedent for women serving as deacons? - Ean Segment 2 • I heard you critique a new book recently about somebody taking a trip to heaven. What motivates a person to say these things? Could they actually believe they're being truthful? - Anonymous • Would you happen to know any good biblical resources that could point me to how I can help my sons prepare for a career path in their lives? I want my sons to succeed and to help them as the Lord leads, but I'm not sure how to do this. - Ricky • I have a teenage daughter who fell into the woke world. Things have gotten better after two years, but I would like a few biblical pointers to help me not only endure this trial but also continue to encourage my daughter in a positive, biblical way. - Anonymous Segment 3 • How do you respond to all the brothers and sisters who are moon landing deniers? My biggest issue with them is that they are denying the testimony of brothers in Christ who walked on the moon (Charlie Duke & Jim Irwin), not to mention the countless others who have worked on the space program. I know it is not a primary issue, but to call brothers and sisters in Christ liars is a big deal. - Michael Segment 4 • If there is no temptation to sin in Heaven, how did Satan get the idea for an uprising? - Joe • I am 21 years old and have been married for just over a year now, and my parents have been very adamant about us visiting their church sometimes. They attend a church of Christ, and we do not. We also love worshipping at our own church. What should we do? - Anonymous • What are some good parenting resources that combat gentle parenting and encourage healthy, biblical parenting? - Anna ___ Thanks for listening! This week's episode is devoted to the flight of Artemis 2. From the spectacular, on-time launch to the lunar flyby to reentry preparation, we chart all the major events of the mission. Some are technical and scientific--the interest in the small meteoritic impacts on the lunar farside and the spectacul solar eclsipse witnessed by the crew—and some are more human interest, such as the messages to the crew from Apollo moonwalker Charlie Duke and the posthumous message from Apollo 8/13 astronaut Jim Lovell, to the very emotional moment where the crew named a crater after Reid Wiseman's recently deceased wife, Carroll. The Artemis II mission to the dark side of the moon will be the furthest human beings have ever travelled from Earth. It's the precursor to a return to the lunar surface and perhaps even reaching Mars. But still, there are those who say humans have never set foot on the Moon, such as Bart Sibrel. Once punched in the face by Buzz Aldrin, he says he's on a CIA hitlist because he blew the whistle on the original moon landings being fake. He speaks to Piers Morgan opposite Dr. Brian Keating, distinguished professor of Physics at UC San Diego and host of the ‘Into The Impossible' podcast. Then Piers is joined by former astronaut Charlie Duke, who was the youngest person to walk on the Moon, and Star Trek's very own Captain Kirk, William Shatner. #218 - At 92, Jim Paulk doesn't sound like someone looking back. He sounds like someone still chasing the next idea, the next project, the next person worth learning from. Our conversation starts with a dream delayed, how a kid from Brunswick, Georgia missed his Naval Academy appointment, kept pushing, then got the call that changed everything. From day one at Annapolis, Jim learns what many of us learn the hard way: you don't need a perfect plan, you need the willingness to keep choosing forward. We follow Jim through a life of service and reinvention, from qualifying on submarines to building a second career at Procter & Gamble. Then the story swerves into marine conservation in Southern California, where he's asked to take over a struggling gill net initiative and turn it into a winning campaign. Jim breaks down what leadership looks like when the clock is real: rallying volunteers, creating momentum, earning media, raising money, and building programs that actually last, including fish hatchery work that produces measurable results decades later. The heart of the conversation is storytelling and relationships. Jim's book, Shaking Up the World, collects 80 true stories by 59 Naval Academy classmates from the class of 1957, from “janitor to admiral” to survival through WWII internment camps to astronaut Charlie Duke's Apollo 16 memories. Jim also shares how he met his wife Pat and why love and friendship are the ultimate measure of a life well lived. He donates all royalties to charity, because giving back is the point.Subscribe for more human stories, share this with someone who loves leadership and history, and leave a review so more people can find the show.To get a copy of Jim's book, Shaking Up the World, check out Amazon. With NASA planning to send Artemis astronauts farther into space than ever, should they be worried about the deadly effects of the Van Allen belts? Here, I describe to James Altucher what the claims are and what the real concerns should be. My response to Moon landing denial claims by Kim Kardashian, Candace Owens, and Bart Sibrel I answer all the big questions: ⇨ Why did the flag move with no wind? ⇨ Is there really no gravity on the moon? ⇨ Why haven't we gone back? ⇨ How did the astronauts survive the Van Allen radiation belts? In this episode, we welcome back investigative journalist and filmmaker Bart Sibrel for his second appearance on the podcast. Bart has spent decades questioning the official Apollo moon landing narrative through documentaries, books, and public debates, making him one of the most controversial voices in the moon landing discussion. This conversation centers on Bart's recent fiery appearance on the Danny Jones podcast, where he confronted Apollo astronaut Charlie Duke in a tense exchange that has reignited global debate. We break down what happened during that interview, the arguments raised on both sides, and why the moon landing controversy continues to divide people more than fifty years later. From Cold War politics and NASA's Apollo program to media narratives and public trust, this episode explores why the moon landing remains one of the most hotly debated events in modern history. Whether you believe the missions were real or have lingering doubts, this is a conversation you won't want to miss. Our Merchandise Store

This is Mark and Rita's first-ever podcast interview! The Schrocks are fellow Christians and engineer specialists at NASA's Mission Control in Houston, Texas and share with us what working at Mission Control is like. We talk about everything from landing on the moon, to Space Shuttle missions and even what they think of aliens! And of course, we talk about how we believe it all points to the glory of God. Human space exploration is good, but it isn't safe. Mark is the chief design engineer behind the Space Shuttle's Rendezvous Pitch Maneuver which was first performed on STS-114, the first shuttle mission after the tragic loss of Columbia in February of 2003. Twenty-one shuttle missions performed Mark's RPM. Dr. Livingston introduced Michael Gordon, a serial entrepreneur, author, and digital health innovator, known for co-founding Teladoc and developing VoIP telephone lines. Michael shared his background in space physics, including his graduate work on the magnetosphere and involvement in the Hayley's comet probe project. He discusses his Tachyon Tunnel sci fi book series, which explores the concept of using tachyons to build tunnels for faster-than-light travel, addressing the challenges of interstellar travel without requiring infinite energy.Michael discussed his science fiction series, the Tachyon Tunnel Series, which explores human drama and interaction in the galaxy. He explained that the series, inspired by authors like Robert Heinlein, Asimov, and Andy Weir, follows characters who use tachyon tunnels to travel across the galaxy, discovering an existing network built by an unknown civilization. He described the series' themes, including the struggle against an evil empire and the mystery of who built the tachyon tunnel system. He also touched on the plausibility of tachyon tunnels in real life, noting that they would allow for rapid interstellar travel.Michael talked about his belief in the potential for tachyon tunnels as a method for intergalactic travel, emphasizing their superiority over wormholes due to the immense gravitational forces required for wormholes, which would be destructive. He referenced the book "Gravitation" by Misner, Thorne, and Wheeler, highlighting the current understanding of gravity and its limitations, while also mentioning the challenges of reproducing and raising children in space, a topic he plans to address in his third book. Michael also touched on the evolution of science fiction, praising the work of Roddenberry and Asimov for their realistic visions of the future, and discussed the potential for simulated gravity in space using centrifuges and constant acceleration. Our guest talked about future space travel and settlement, emphasizing the development of tachyon-like travel and interstellar flight, as well as the establishment of large cities in Lagrange points. He highlighted the need to address challenges like microgravity and radiation protection in space environments. Michael also noted the shift from government-led space exploration to private enterprise, predicting that capitalism will drive the next generation of space explorers and settlers. He addressed a caller's question about space farming, suggesting a combination of farming and food replicators in space cities, while acknowledging the challenges of long-duration space travel to distant stars.Michael also discussed his book series, which is available on Amazon, and mentioned that the second book has won six awards and was a bestseller. He explained his writing process, which involves parallel editing and a print-on-demand system. David also addressed questions about tachyons, the Fermi paradox, and the possibility of future technologies for interstellar communication, suggesting that quantum entanglement might play a role in future travel and communication methods. We discussed the concept of "spooky action at a distance" in physics, comparing it to the behavior of identical twins, and listener John mentioned a conversation with a physicist friend who humorously equated dark energy with the Holy Spirit. Michael also shared insights about plasma, its role in the universe, and a book titled "A New Science of Heaven" by Robert Temple, which explores the speculative nature of plasma self-organization. Michael encouraged us to read the book for a new perspective on definitions. Additionally, he addressed a physics student's question about confirming the existence of tachyons, suggesting that the task would be better suited for young theoretical physicists and expressing interest in any creative ideas they might propose. Our guest also discussed the rapid advancements in space technology and exploration, highlighting the exponential growth in capabilities over the next few decades. He mentioned meeting Buzz Aldrin, who noted that current devices have more power than the computers used during the Apollo missions. David predicted significant progress in space travel, including returning to the moon and potentially heading to Mars within 5-6 years, driven by companies like SpaceX. He also touched on the potential for new AI technologies to solve complex problems and the theoretical concept of imaginary mass particles with real energy, though no such particles have been detected yet.Caller John, a retired mathematician and aerospace worker, discussed his interest in science and physics, particularly through the Space Show. Michael expressed a desire to meet John, who David said was one of his informal science teachers, and mentioned his belief in the possibility of extraterrestrial life visiting Earth. David also touched on the challenges of discussing controversial topics like the Fermi Paradox and UFO sightings, noting the difficulty in separating rational evidence from nonsense. Finally, he reflected on the persistence of conspiracy theories, such as the moon landing and flat Earth beliefs, and expressed frustration at the lack of evidence to prove the negative of such claims.David read a listener email from Grok suggesting that tachyons, particles moving faster than light, might emit a form of Cherenkov radiation and could be detected in particle accelerators. He also shared an email from Todd asking about his book writing process, where he explained that he outlines the general storyline of the third book while writing the second, with the science and human drama being key elements of his storytelling.Black Holes and Space Exploration.Michael then discussed the role of black holes in his upcoming books, explaining that while they are relevant, they are not a major part of the current story. He also explored the concept of tachyon tunnels and the potential challenges of emerging from them in space, emphasizing the importance of mapping safe exit points. David shared insights on the current state of space debris and the efforts to clean it up. Michael compared the sparsity of objects in space to the density of people on Earth. He expressed interest in creating an audio version of his books and mentioned plans to follow up with the host regarding the release of Book 3.Before ending, Michael shared a personal story about his friend Charlie Duke, who was the lunar module pilot on Apollo 16 and one of only four living people who walked on the moon. He described Charlie's authentic and heartfelt stories about his moon landing experience, including an anecdote about attempting a lunar high jump that was cut short when NASA discovered the incident through a camera.Special thanks to our sponsors:Northrup Grumman, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Helix Space in Luxembourg, Celestis Memorial Spaceflights, Astrox Corporation, Dr. Haym Benaroya of Rutgers University, The Space Settlement Progress Blog by John Jossy, The Atlantis Project, and Artless EntertainmentOur Toll Free Line for Live Broadcasts: 1-866-687-7223For real time program participation, email Dr. Space at: drspace@thespaceshow.comThe Space Show is a non-profit 501C3 through its parent, One Giant Leap Foundation, Inc. Shaking Up the World is a collection of stories by the Naval Academy Class of 1957 members. Some classmates watched Japanese planes bombing Pearl Harbor (Tom Marnane). Walt Meukow spent the war as a prisoner in the Philippines; another Art Aronson, was a prisoner in the Nazi death camp at Auschwitz. The Shaking and shaping of four years at Annapolis molded men who would spend their lives shaking up the world, large and small, in uniform and as civilians. Brad Parkinson's architecture of the Global Positioning System (GPS) was monumental. Charlie Duke, an astronaut, spent 72 hours on the moon's surface. Jerry Barczak tells about being hijacked by Hezbollah terrorists in a fatal event. The War in Vietnam involved Leo Hyatt's account of imprisonment at the Hanoi Hilton, which is a classic in bravery and loyalty. Larry Bustle's account of being shot down over enemy territory brings back the terrific impact war had on all of us—Bob McElwee's story of his life as a National Football referee
What would it be like to walk on the moon? General Charlie Duke is one of the privileged few who can claim to have enjoyed such an awe-inspiring experience. But believe it or not, more important events in General Duke's life overshadowed even that incredible journey. Host Michael is joined by General Charlie Duke, Dottie Duke, and Dr. Jake Hebert to discuss this incredible experience in episode 33 of Creation.Live. &... More...

#194: Charlie Duke is a former Astronaut & Apollo 16 Lunar Model pilot who became the 10th and youngest human being to ever walk on the surface of the moon. He has also served in many other critical historical events. On Apollo 11, the first ever moon landing, Neil Armstrong asked Charlie to serve at CAPCOM (which is the voice of Houston/mission control when they landed on the moon). He served back up on Apollo 13 working tirelessly to help safely bring back his fellow astronauts. Charlie attended the US Naval Academy before becoming a fighter pilot in the US Air Force. After a few years in the Air Force he attended MIT and then became a test pilot with Chuck Yeager. During this time he was encouraged by Yeager and others to apply to become an astronaut and the rest is history. Apollo 16 was NASA's second scientific expedition on the moon. During his time on the moon he logged 20.25 hours in extra vehicular activities and collected some 213 pounds of soil and geological samples. He took the only videos of the lunar rover in action. Charlie's stay on the moon was a record setting 71hours and 14 minutes and he was also the first person to do Moon Olympics. On the show Charlie shares his story of growing up, becoming a fighter pilot, test pilot and then astronauts, the many of tense stories of the Apollo landings, his own experience walking on the moon, life after NASA, the impact and influence of his wife Dotty, forgiveness, fulfillment, faith, and much more. For more info on Charlie and his wife Dotty, as well as their books, check out charlieduke.com and dukeministryforchrist.org Enjoy the show!
Charlie Duke was the tenth man to walk on the moon as part of the Apollo 16 mission in 1972. It is an honor to have him on this episode as one of only twelve people in history to walk on the moon. But the story doesn't end there; Charlie Duke came to Christ after his experience. Only 12 men have ever set foot on the moon—in April 1972, Charlie Duke became the youngest among them. At the age of 36, Charlie was part of Apollo 16, spending nearly 3 days on the lunar surface collecting rocks, taking soil samples, and driving the lunar rover. And that's only a small part of his incredibly aggressive life. From his involvement with the first lunar landing, to helping with Apollo 13, to the aggressiveness that keeps him working hard into his 90s, General Duke is a real American hero. His story and perspective will launch you forward.

Thanks to the lack of transparency in D.C., it seems the popularity of moon-landing conspiracy theories has skyrocketed in recent years. “I'm perplexed because the evidence is overwhelming,” Apollo astronaut Charlie Duke tells Glenn. As one of the few humans to walk on the moon, Charlie is well-equipped to set the record straight. He walked on the moon when he was just 36, making him the youngest person to leave footprints on the lunar surface. He tells Glenn the harrowing story of his near-disastrous win in the “Moon Olympics,” when he nearly punctured his space suit: “Never do anything on the Moon that you didn't practice on Earth.” Charlie also walks Glenn through his incredible life story on Earth, including his journey to Christ, which he holds as even more important than his voyage to the moon. He also gives his thoughts on the future of space travel, going to Mars, and whether aliens exist. Charlie Duke attended the U.S. Naval Academy but accepted a commission into the U.S. Air Force upon graduation. After early assignments, including service near Berlin in the tumultuous days of the early 1960's, Duke was accepted as a NASA astronaut as the United States pressed on towards President Kennedy's goal of sending a man to the moon and returning him safely to the earth before the end of the decade. In this edition of "Veterans Chronicles," Gen. Duke walks us through his early days in the space program and his critical contributions to the development of the lunar module propulsion system. He also takes us into mission control during the momentous days of Apollo 11, during which Duke served as capcom, meaning he was the voice the astronauts heard from Earth.Duke also tells us about contracting German measles as a member of the backup crew for Apollo 13, and how that forced a change in the primary crew. He then explains how he and the other backup crew members worked to solve the problems facing the crew after an explosion on board.Gen. Duke then talks in detail about his April 1972 mission to the moon aboard Apollo 16. He describes the key objectives of the mission and the awesome realization that he was actually on the moon. You'll hear about the boyish stunt that almost killed him on the moon and much, much more.
At 36, Charlie Duke walked on the moon as part of the Apollo 16 space mission. At 37, he asked himself, Now what?
