Additionally, they delve into health and fitness, with Ivan sharing his recent training experiences, including a successful skiing race and his approach to weight management through fasting. In this episode of the Invest in You podcast, host Fredrik is joined by guest Rob Goddard, a business advisor and expert in selling companies. They discuss the importance of preparing a business for sale and the key factors that can make or break a deal. Rob talks about the need for business owners to make themselves redundant and build a strong team to ensure the business is not reliant on their day-to-day involvement. He also highlights the significance of having robust financial reporting and a clear growth plan to attract potential buyers. Rob shares valuable insights on the common mistakes business owners make when selling their companies and offers practical advice on how to navigate the process successfully. KEY TAKEAWAYS The importance of determining a "magic number" when selling a business: The "magic number" refers to the capital sum needed from the sale of the business to start a new chapter in the owner's life. It is not necessarily the value of the business, but rather the amount required to sustain their desired lifestyle. Making the business owner redundant: To make a business saleable, the owner needs to build a succession plan and surround themselves with a capable team. This ensures that the business is not reliant on the owner's day-to-day involvement and increases its transferability to a new entity. The significance of financial reporting: Having up-to-date and robust financial reporting, including monthly management accounts, is crucial when selling a business. It provides potential buyers with a clear understanding of the business's financial performance and future prospects. The need for a growth plan: Many business owners lack a clear growth plan for their business. Having a well-defined growth plan, supported by reliable sales forecasts and a narrative that substantiates the numbers, can significantly increase the value of the business and attract potential buyers. The challenges of owner reliance: Businesses heavily reliant on the owner's involvement can be difficult to sell. Buyers typically expect a ready-made management team in place, and if the owner is the sales director or at the centre of everything, it can hinder the sale process. Making the owner redundant and building a capable team is essential for a successful business sale. BEST MOMENTS "I think it's the, I like educating business owners because most business owners have never sold before." "So I've already seen their accounts by that point. So I give them a really low ball offer, right? I'll say, if I think it's probably worth 3 million, I'll say, do you know what? I think it's worth one and a half. Would you accept that today?" "I want them to make themselves redundant and, and the business isn't reliant on their day to day input, expertise, knowledge, contacts." "If you can show a reliable sales forecast based on real customers and how you retain people, all of a sudden now you can multiply the value quite easily." In this episode Fredrik chats with David Riemer, tech and ad executive, and marketer. He is the author of ‘Get Your Startup Story Straight ; The Definitive Storytelling Framework For Innovators And Entrepreneurs.' He guides people to create the narrative of their startup, sharing their beginning motivations, their aims and values to create understanding between themselves and their target audience. KEY TAKEAWAYS David has always been a narrative storyteller, has experience in journalism, and so has turned this skill towards startup business. Thinking in terms of a narrative, shifts the focus and viewpoint on the project. Stories have a structure. Overlay a classic story structure onto your innovation story and understand the motivations of your customer, the protagonist, and how your product or service is going to solve their problem. One of the best ways to be successful as a business is to make a meaningful connection with your customer and understand them on a human level. When you are telling a story, part of the narrative is conveyed by your facial expressions. Bear this in mind in zoom meetings and FaceTime. Show your expressions. Include a human factor in your story that anybody can connect with no matter what your product is. BEST MOMENTS ‘I have seen this incredible thing happen when I talk to a founder about their project, and we talk about it in the context of a story. Who is the protagonist in your story? And they'll say, “I am, I built this thing”. No, the protagonist in a product story is not you, it's the customer.' ‘You have to know who the protagonist is, you have to know what their motivations are and you have to have some insights into what's motivating them. You have to understand the conflict in the story. You have to understand how their life will be better if they use your product.' ‘People don't care about what you say but they do care about the way you make than feel.' ‘Why is he getting excited about this point? He's waving his hands around. We all have to do that in a way that's natural to us, but our bodies are part of the instrument we use as a storyteller, and our faces.' ABOUT THE GUEST David is a long-time tech executive and marketer. He led the ad agency J. Walter Thompson in San Francisco, held senior marketing roles at two start-ups and was VP Marketing at Yahoo! (during their heyday). David now runs Box Out Industries where he works with entrepreneurs, product managers and marketers to develop and convey their product stories. He also started Spiral Staircase Productions to collaborate with artists and is currently developing two original musicals. David teaches at Berkeley-Haas Business School and works with several accelerators throughout the Bay Area. Today Fredrik interviews international businessman Moran Prober. Based in Cyprus, Moran has business in U.S.A, U.K., Canada, Australia, Israel, Panama and Cyprus. He's an expert in acquiring businesses for himself and his clients and is the founder of Acquisitions.com, helping people find the company that's right for them. KEY TAKEAWAYS Moran helps his clients buy profitable established business, finding the right sector and the best deals including financing. Single run businesses with one owner are not easily saleable entities especially if it is a model that's easily reproduced by an interested party. Financing options are very varied and there are many sources to fund the acquisition. The price often depends on the the relationship with the buyer. It's takes time to acquire businesses so it doesn't always pay to sell them straight away. You can acquire more business and merge them or grow the business. BEST MOMENTS ‘In the last 3 years we helped and supported over 100 acquisitions, usually in the range of 1 to 40 million in revenue.' ‘If you have one messy business and you want to buy 10 more businesses, you'll just end up with 10 messy businesses.' ‘It comes down to, why are you buying the business in the first place? For example, a lot of businesses buy other businesses for a very specific asset. Companies buying companies just for the talent.' ‘We are making sure that we are helping them in the process, to be in the same level of knowledge us us.' An impromptu and spontaneous transatlantic interview between Fredrik and his guest, Donnie Boivin. Author, businessman, coach, motivational speaker and podcaster, Donnie helps others to achieve a change in mindset and propel them forward to achieving their aims. He speaks candidly about the experiences and influences that have shaped his life and how he achieves a healthy momentum in his work. KEY TAKEAWAYS Fredrik and Donnie both joined the Marines in their respective countries after finishing college. After a long career in sales Donnie launched his business Success Champions and hit a steep learning curve and now passes what he learned from his mistakes to others to facilitate them to achieve a easier lifestyle with their businesses. A common mistake made by both Donnie and Fredrik is to accept too many tasks and become bogged down by process. The trick is to work on the business not in the business. Building a business involves a lot of bad days to get through and its best to keep these in perspective as, eventually, they will just be cautionary tales you can tell later. With modern online instruction provided by information platforms like Google and YouTube you can keep yourself up to date without spending huge amounts of cash on training. Sanctuary is important. Donnie has a farm that is isolated from his business interests to which he can escape. BEST MOMENTS ‘I'm not a guy that does well with authority and people telling me what to do. When you're going through boot camp or whatever and you realise that these people are going to keep yelling at you for a long period of time you really question your choices in life.' ‘If you had cash, money of any sort then yes! I whatever that was that you needed done so we found ourselves doing websites, graphic design and *@$t that we had no business doing.' ‘If you don't educate them on how you will actually sell to them and how they can get involved to make this happen then the closing might be very odd later.' ‘Being a salesperson is the only profession in the world where you will literally get rejected every day.' ‘At the end of the day, do what's right by you and I think that goes for your business as well.' ABOUT THE GUEST Donnie Boivin is a motivational speaker, author, podcaster, businessman and a coach that helps to change the game in mindset and success. His book “How to be a success champion: Business Strategy for Badasses” is a story of his own life that has inspired thousands to get out of their own way and go for it. Donnie Boivin has launched his career, from being a corporal in the US marine corps and spent over 2 decades mastering sales and marketing to becoming a Founder and CEO of the Success Champions family of companies. Fredrik interviews Niraj Kapur, online business coach and expert on using LinkedIn. Previously a sales trainer, Niraj found himself without a job at the beginning of the COVID crisis and switched to online training. He now specialises in using LinkedIn to achieve and facilitate his clients business goals via his training and coaching company Everybody Works In Sales. KEY TAKEAWAYS The importance of formality in virtual selling and online meetings is paramount. Put as much effort into your prep and appearance as you would to a face to face meeting. The similarities between online dating and online selling are numerous. Check out your client/dates profile to see what you have in common. Do not ask for a client meeting/date too quickly as it can unnerve potential customers/partners. Do not talk about yourself non stop. LinkedIn posts can be about any of your current business challenges you face; slow paying customers, staff retention etc. The most popular posts can be the ones that discuss how your personal life interfaces with your business life. Make the effort to meet your LinkedIn support network as it can be invaluable. Stop relying on email automation. Face to face contact and online meeting platforms such as zoom is still the best way of doing things. BEST MOMENTS ‘On a business level people would say that they know me as a coach who leads from the heart and gets results for clients.' ‘I have grown m LinkedIn profile from 5000 people to 18,000 people. The really big growth has been from me talking about my vulnerability and the difficulty of being single in your late forties.' ‘Personal posts work. They just do. On Father's Day this year all my friends who posted pictures of their kids saying “this is my why” did so well.' ‘Get on a plane, get on a bus, get on a train and go see people face to face. It's one of the best things you can do to strengthen relationships and business is relationships.' ‘If you have your phone there anyway and your too shy to do anything if you have the LinkedIn app you can actually send a voice mail and if you do this you actually stand out.' In his episode of Invest in You, Fredrik talks to business and brand advisor Brendan Kane, author of ‘Hook Point : How To Stand Out In A 3 Second World' and CEO and founder of Hook Point agency. Brendan talks about how he started in his specialty of digital branding and publicity for the entertainment industry after initially attending film school and moving onwards to movie advertising. He details how he has helped many corporations and individuals find their “Hook Point.” KEY TAKEAWAYS Initially planning to be a film producer Brendan found that film school offered no guidance or insight into the business side of film making so he decided to educate himself. Brendan found his ‘Hook Point' was his ability to assist film makers with post production online publicity of a movie. In 2007 he pioneered he idea of using YouTube influencers to publicise movies. Brendans company Hook Point helps people communicate at scale to customers and attempts to move marketing principles on with a digital forum to get their message out there with a more modern strategy. Platform algorithms have one job and that is to retain viewers so the longer they spend viewing the video the more likely that video will be seen by more viewers. Brendan spends a lot of his time meeting people and learning what they do to enhance his skills and recommends actual face to face communication as a learning tool. BEST MOMENTS ‘As I said “I wanted to be a film producer” I could see everybody's eyes glaze over, you're Just one of a million. So I had to reassess and find what is my way to stand out, what is my “Hook Point.”' ‘At my core I'm an entrepreneur. I want to build things and I found I was asking for permission to do things more than actually getting to execute.' ‘As marketer's or just people who want to disseminate a message at scale we are competing against hundreds of millions of messages and we need to have more nuance, more sophistication, more psychology in the way that we are constructing our content.' ‘Most business owners have spent years mastering their craft. However, the more you become an expert in something the less you can distill it down into its simplest form.' ABOUT THE GUEST Brendan Kane is an outside of the box thinker, speaker and author who empowers brands to scale by helping them stand out and beat competition in crowded and oversaturated markets. He is the author of the international best-selling book One Million Followers and the newly released Hook Point: How To Stand Out In A 3 Second World, as well as the founder and CEO of the Hook Point agency. In this podcast Fredrick interviews Arnaud Henneville-Wedholm, entrepreneur and author of “How Hard Can it Be?”, a book discussing the pitfalls and methods for starting up and maintaining business. He details his work advising companies on ‘Change Management', the ability to change a workforce or person to facilitate new methods within an organisation. KEY TAKEAWAYS ‘Change Management' is the method of changing peoples perception, skills and training to facilitate new strategies and goals within an organisation. Arnaud started out his career in sales but felt more at home in Change Management and so pursued his business advisory role. He started writing the book when he realised how many questions occurred during his own startup journey that were difficult to find answers to. The book is a narrative that is entertaining written to inform you even though you don't realise it. Arnaud gives tips on targeting your customers effectively rather than struggling to achieve maximum coverage to gain traction. BEST MOMENTS ‘There is this idea that sales is a “nasty” thing, that salespeople as profession is not something we do but in fact we sell ourselves constantly. Everyday I'm selling to my kids to eat broccoli.' ‘I think it was easier to write the book than do the journey that led to it.' ‘No one could tell us the answers because our journey was unique. I needed to write that book that I wish I had read myself.' ‘You do not need those million guys, you just need to ave those thousand guys that will buy from you because they believe what you sell.' ABOUT THE GUEST Arnaud Henneville-Wedholm is an entrepreneur, author and optimist. Today, he leads sales and business development at GLOBHE, a platform for drone data on demand. He is also a mentor at the Nordic Startup School, a leading startup accelerator in the Nordics. Global keynote speaker and passionate advocate for women in business; Hang Black joins Fredrik to discuss all things business, marketing and consumers. Discover how important it is to be equipped to sell value, the difference in millennial marketing and why investing in yourself means understanding the steps you need to take to reach your own definition of happiness. KEY TAKEAWAYS Not everyone who is selling, is selling things that are profitable. It is so important to have enablement because you do not want sellers to go in front of customers and have to drop their price. This could mean that now you are below cost in margin. You need to be equipped on how to sell value. 67% of marketing material is never even opened by a seller. This has been true for the last 30 years. With enablement you need to work out how to curate the right content and let your SME’s know which content sticks and which does not. You need to also find the processes that will keep the selling motion consistent and relevant. Make sure to modernise how to talk to your customers and reach them where they are. 44% of millennials do not want to meet their seller even one time. They want to have a contactless experience, this does not necessarily mean that they do not interact with them, it just means that they don’t contact them. One of the things you can do is to make sure when you interact with your customers you interact with them socially first. Engage with them in what they're interested in. 47% of the business decision is already made before the first phone call has been taken. Sales is the front line to the customer, they are the closest conversation. You don’t know what is right for the customer without talking to them and collaborating with them. Do not be afraid to try different things in your career and move around a little bit early on. You should never be afraid to take judicious risk. Careers are not necessarily linear but what you really have to learn is what your strengths are and what your values are. Learn how those two things align so that you can monetise them. Following your passions is a great saying but you have got to eat too! Investing in yourself means giving grace to yourself. Take care of yourself before and understand what your leavers of happiness are, not other peoples definition of happiness for you, whether that be societal, cultural or familial. Understand what happiness looks like for you and invest in how to get to your definition of happiness and success. BEST MOMENTS “What do we need to do to make it easier for the customer to buy?” “How do we meet them how they want to be met?” “It is important to have a goal of monetising your dreams.” ABOUT THE GUEST Hang Black is a global keynote speaker on sales, leadership, and a passionate advocate for women in the workplace. Fredrik and Charlie are joined today by motivational speaker and successful businesswoman Yasmina Fadli. Yasmina shares her personal story and describes how she went from strength to strength throughout the years. Together they discuss how to identify your core identity, how doing things differently will set you apart and how investing in yourself will allow you texpand you and your business. KEY TAKEAWAYS No teenager should be left behind. They should understand that no matter what their circumstances are, they can build a life that may not seem achievable to them today. There are many possibilities and opportunities out there. Who they are to the core, is what the world is waiting for. When you are a teenager in a vulnerable situation such as coming from a poor home where there are not a lot of opportunities around you, you need to try to connect with your core identity. Your core identity is not what society thinks of you. We all have a big potential in life and the world is waiting for that potential. Do things differently which will set you apart. That is how you can identify who you need to become to ensure that your customers are served, you bring them value that they deserve and you can create long term relationships with your clients. Many people consider sales to be ‘sleazy’, however if you serve from your heart and what to get your customer to achieve the results they are looking for then that is when you can become successful in sales. Your business or your life will only expand in the ration that you are willing to invest in yourself. If you are not investing in yourself or growing your business and your life will all continue to stay the same. The more you invest in yourself the more your business and life will expand. At the end of your life, if you are learning, growing and staying focused on your vision then you are going to see that the end result will be higher than where you started. BEST MOMENTS “I am more than the label they put on me.” “Those are two main drivers in what I am working for.” “I did things differently that set me apart.” “If I didn't invest in myself I would never have made it this far.” ABOUT THE GUEST As a result of working with the Corporate Game Changers, organizations grow their revenue by at least 25%, expand their customer portfolio and develop new business pipelines. Yasmina combines her passion for customer excellence, curiosity in people and learning about organization's challenges and goals, to go outside of her own comfort zone and guide companies outside of theirs. That is where the change and the magic happens. Award winning business leadership coach, international speaker and one of the UK’s top 100 entrepreneur mentors Andrew Priestly joins Fredrik, Ivan and Charlie today to talk all things business. Together they discuss how important it is for entrepreneurs to know their own values, the mindset of an entrepreneur and how to invest in yourself means you need to first believe in yourself. KEY TAKEAWAYS The best entrepreneurs are really clear on their values and their overall intentions. What is it you’re trying to do? Whilst making money is appealing in business, it is not the sole reason you should be an entrepreneur, think about what your overall goal is. Most businesses work on this idea of ‘money’ and ‘volume’. So if you have a really low cost item, then you have to drive the volume up, you always want to make a profit. Your job is to market and drive traffic as you cannot offer something at a low price at a low volume. The mindset of an entrepreneur is knowing that you can create massive value for people because you know who your market is, what they want and the problems they are trying to solve. Direction and determination are two variables that drive entrepreneurs. You need to know where you are going and how you want to get there. You might know where you want to go but if you lack the direction, you won’t get there. You might have determination, but you don’t know where you’re going. To get anywhere in life you have to invest but you have to understand what investing actually means. To invest means to deep dive, reflect and take time to think things through. You should also invest emotionally in yourself, invest in your dreams and desires and always believe in your ability to achieve them, that in itself is investment. A lot of people invest outwardly but they do not work on themselves internally. BEST MOMENTS “You will get less people, but they will start paying more money.” “If you cannot get $97 worth of value out of a two hour seminar then you need to check for the pulse.” “As soon as you start to look ripped your ego goes through the roof.” “You learn a lot just by doing stuff.” ABOUT THE GUEST Andrew Priestley is a qualified, award-winning business leadership and executive coach with extensive experience working with a diverse range of established SME and corporate clients worldwide. In 2017, he was ranked in the Top 100 UK Entrepreneur Mentors .Qualified in Industrial and Organisational Psychology, he is the best-selling author of three books: The Money Chimp, Starting and Awareness; and has edited several other best-selling titles including Retire Inspire, Sales Genius, and the bestselling Fit For Purpose Leadership series. He initially started coaching high-end compliance clients (aviation, mining, law, medicine, engineering etc) and developed an award winning leadership development methodology based on five traits of highly effective leaders, that is used worldwide.Andrew is a highly sought after international speaker and facilitator. Listen in to today’s podcast as Fredrik and Ivan are joined by former world boxing champion, personal performance coach and motivational speaker Billy Shwaer. With over 23 years of boxing experience, it is safe to say that Billy knows what he is talking about, together they discuss the mindset of a professional fighter, how the true test of your character is somebody who can show up when they do not feel like it, and why investment in your personal development should never stop. KEY TAKEAWAYS There are two fighting mindsets. The first is that you love to win and this encourages your need to be successful in the sport. The second mindset is that you truly hate to lose, this hatred spurs fighters on to become the best at their sport as they cannot stand the thought of losing. There is no right or wrong mindset, people have become champions with both mindsets. It takes courage to step into the fighting ring and try yourself out. It is admirable of anybody who finds the courage to have a go and step into the ring. You will find yourself having to overcome that fear all the time. Your true test of character has to show up even in the face of not feeling like it. If you don’t feel like going to training and you would rather have a day off, you have to go beyond yourself and find something within you that carries you forward even in the toughest of times. There are no hiding places in fighting, you have to summon something up from within in yourself. It is a huge test of your strength and willingness in the face of suffering pain and defeat to continue and fight for victory. The biggest investment that you can make is the investment in yourself. Investing in yourself means investing your own time, effort and money into your personal development. You could have spent thousands of pounds investing in training programmes, courses or personal hobbies to develop yourself, but you should never stop investing in yourself. BEST MOMENTS “I had to find a way to prove, cover-up and survive being weak, that was why I became a boxer” “It was tough getting punched in the face.” “It is euphoric and amazing.” “I want to be free, I don’t want to be tied down.” ABOUT THE GUEST Billy Schwer is a former British, Commonwealth, European & World Boxing Champion who is now a personal performance coach. Billy is a reflective and engaging speaker who demonstrates honesty and intelligence through his Mental Boxing training programme. Billy believes that to produce world-class results in all areas our lives require a balance of mental, physical and nutritional fitness. With over 23 years’ worth of boxing experience and 10 years of studying Ontology (the study of the art and science of being), Billy believes that Boxing is a great metaphor for life. In today's podcast, Fredrik is joined by international Yoga expert, wellness coach and entrepreneur, Train Calmeyer. Together they discuss how the pandemic has allowed for entrepreneurs to reflect upon their existing business model and how they can move with the times and the qualities behind a good leader. Train also shares some of her top tips to stretching and looking after yourself whilst working from home. KEY TAKEAWAYS The pandemic has required people to take a step back and reflect on how you can move your business and what that has to offer to an online platform. Use your current network of facilitators that you have gained over your experience within your niche industry and keep building upon that database to allow you to grow your company to new levels. The engagement rate for on demand and pre-recorded content is quite low because it is completely dependent on the persons discipline to watch the content themselves. Anybody can go onto YouTube and watch a video if they have the will to do it. If you provide a live service whereby there is a person on the other end of the call to engage with and who you can ensure are listening to things. When you have been sitting too much at a computer, one exercise that is highly recommended is to go and stretch against a wall. You can put your hands higher than your head, walk your feet back away from the wall and let your body sag against the wall, stretching out your back. This will help you to open up your chest. Anything to help opening up the chest and shoulders when you have been sitting at a computer too much is going to be a good thing. A leader has to be focused on what their team is doing and has to be the example for their team. A real leader is always prepared for themselves and their team. A very helpful thing to do, is to take a very deep breath. Repeat this in a sequence inhaling on a count of four, exhaling for a count of four. You will notice that your state, the way that you are breathing, and the way you are anticipating the breathing is going to calm you down. Linked in has changed for the better post pandemic. A lot of people are sharing the realness of the working experience and it has gotten to be a more genuine and authentic social media platform. Twitter is another platform where entrepreneurs are able to share their real experiences in the industry. It also allows people to find a way to connect, collaborate and share information and ideas. BEST MOMENTS “I also definitely see that there is a disconnect in the online space.” “This whole part of your body that is usually quite compressed and working, gets opened up.” “I really love LinkedIn.” “ a leader has to be focused on what their team is doing.” ABOUT THE GUEST Tarin Calmeyer is an international yoga, meditation and wellness coach and she works with forward thinking brands who value the wellness of their workplace. In today’s episode Fredrik is joined by financial consultant, health and life agent and podcaster Sarry Ibrahim. Together they discuss Sarry’s unique approach to investment, an approach described as ‘self-banking’. Learn today how to leverage whole life insurance policies to allow you to become your own bank, how to ‘Ten-X your life and why you don’t have to have lots of money to start investing. KEY TAKEAWAYS Nowadays a bank is just a middle man between people who have money and people who need money. They charge people fees on both sides and some banks do not have any money at all, they just leverage from one hand to the next hand and use other people's money in between. Many people are able to become their own banks and have ‘self-banking’ principles. This does not mean you have to become a registered, chartered bank but having the infinite banking concept. It is the utilisation of dividend paying life insurance. Whole life insurance has two parts if it is structured the correct way. It has cash value, and life insurance which is almost like a savings account inside the life insurance policy. If you build up your policy you can eventually start to earn interest and dividends every year, which compounds and the cash value grows. The banking part comes in by giving you access to the money. You can borrow against it without interrupting the growth. Anybody can adopt this principle. It is about having the ability to understand what to do with the money from the moment you earn it until the moment you spend it. Before you spend the money you can have it sit in the whole life policy, borrow against it and then use that over and over again so that you can become your own source of financing whilst still growing cash reserves. The ten X rule is valuable to investors. If you can take everything that you are doing, put it in brackets and multiply it by ten, then you will multiply every one of those things by ten. This theory works for everything from investment, to how many podcast shows you can get onto. If you can do that formula once, what is stopping you from doing it again? Many people believe that they cannot do any money investing unless they have a lot of money. This is not true, there is a lot of leverage out there. The word ‘leverage’ to entrepreneurs is fascinating. It is especially fascinating what you can do, if you leverage other people's money. BEST MOMENTS “You can still apply certain benefits even if you’re not in the US” “You don’t have to be in the banking industry, you don’t have to have millions of dollars, you can do this with any amount of money it is about having the ability.” ABOUT THE GUEST Sarry Ibrahim’s business is to help high net worth individuals, real estate investors, business owners and retirees grow and protect their wealth predictably and safely. As a Financial Consultant, Health and Life Agent, Sarry has cultivated a reputation for putting his clients first, no matter what. Fredrik and Charlie take a trip down memory lane today as they look back on fond memories of places they’ve had the pleasure to call home, and places they’ve visited on their travels. Together they discuss their favourite countries, how your future may be dictated by your country of origin and why it is important to enjoy where you live. KEY TAKEAWAYS Your future success in life often depends where you were born and where you grew up. People from third world countries are often unable to access higher education since there is often a lack of internet connection or reading materials. You will save so much time by choosing to live close to where your hobbies and interests are readily available. Another thing to take into consideration is where you work, how long is your commute? Many people spend hours in their cars or on public transport commuting. Lebanon is a wonderful place to live and work. The people, food and climate are just some of the desirable attributes of the country. The people are extremely generous, if they have nothing they will try to give you everything. The spirit of the people is much like the spirit of the UK. Be careful when you pick where you want to settle or where you want to be temporarily. There are places in the world where it can be dangerous for outsiders to visit. Make sure you stay in the safe areas of the places you are visiting so as to avoid being in the wrong place at the wrong time. You are not a tree you have the ability to pick up your things and move wherever you like. If you are an entrepreneur your job is less location dependent meaning you can move around more freely than those who have a job in a specific location. BEST MOMENTS “You could go skiing in the winter and go straight down and jump into the sea in the afternoon.” “I would like to check out more countries in South America.” “The number one question to consider is..where would you like to live?” ABOUT THE HOST Serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers. In today's podcast Fredrik, Ivan and Charlie are joined by a social media expert Mano Guiragossian . They share specialist knowledge of social media which can help you to get noticed in the crowded but ever growing world of social media platforming. Discover how to create organic reach, boost your engagement and how to lengthen your average watch time. KEY TAKEAWAYS You don’t have to always produce ‘content’ you just have to document the process. Even if you are failing and you produce content about your journey, it is more valuable than the success. People can relate to real life failings because this is what they are experiencing in their daily life. The problem with social media is that when people are producing content, not enough people are able to view it as they limit the organic reach. In most cases, the problem is not the quality of content but it is the distribution. If you have a pillar piece of content such as Youtube or Podcasting, repurpose this into short clips or graphics and publish this on Facebook on Instagram. From there you can boost this shortened piece of content to reach multiple people. If your content is good enough you will gain subscribers who will then engage organically with your profile. The more engagement you get on Facebook, Facebook will recognise this as high quality and will then increase the reach for a low cost. To increase your watch time on YouTube the first thing you need to do is keep the audience entertained. If you are talking about something educational, engage the audience by using animations. If you are producing other content, find ways to keep them entertained by promising them a bonus at the end of the video to encourage them to watch the entire video. Podcasts can teach you new things from the guests that are being interviewed. Partaking in an interview for a podcast can encourage their audience to come over to your platform. Providing a podcast for your existing followership will give them additional value and encourage them to become loyal to you and your content. If you have really good content and it is keyword optimised, you will still be getting traffic for years and years. This is because people are searching for it and will continuously view it, this is a benefit of search engine platforms like YouTube and Google. BEST MOMENTS “At the end of the day we are all people. You don’t have to always be right with your content. Just put out what you have and people will engage with it.” “I always think of new ways to distribute my content and get it in front of new people.” “I use my podcast to engage with my existing audience and provide them with additional value.” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://www.linkedin.com/in/manoguiragossian/ https://www.amazon.com/Money-Matters-Everything-Should-Learned-ebook/dp/B07M8DBKH2 https://www.linkedin.com/in/veronicakarascfp/ https://www.veronicakaras.com/ ABOUT THE HOST Serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers. Fredrik and Ivan are joined today with American financial advisor and author of ‘Money Matters: Everything You Should Have Learned in School, but Didn't!’ Veronica Karas. Together they discuss the benefits of university, how money is the pathway to achieving your desired impact on the world and discovering your financial blueprint. KEY TAKEAWAYS The biggest benefit of going to university is networking. Networking at university can kick start your career. If you plan to become specialised in a field such as finance or medicine, what you study at university will be used daily in your job. Money is the pathway to the level of contribution and impact that you want to have in the world. More money means that you can help more people, reach more people and have the ability to set up programmes designed to help others. Money is the means to the bright level and impact that you want to envision for yourself. Your attitude towards money is formed from childhood. Things that you hear from parents and your upbringing start to formulate how you see your financial life. Therefore they form a blueprint which influences decisions you will make with money. Whether you are a saver or a spender has a lot to do with how you feel about money. If you don’t give yourself a plan B you have no way out of something. This is especially true in business where you will find ways to go until you succeed. If you have no other choice but to succeed, you will find a way. The best advice for young investors is to start now. Even if you only invest $20 into the stock market, the sooner you start the better. Time is your biggest friend in investment. BEST MOMENTS “I got into finance early enough so that I could understand what it would mean to have that debt.” “Money is still the third most common cause of divorce in the world.” “I made it happen because I had no choice but to make it happen.” ABOUT THE GUEST Veronica Karas is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional who has been in the finance industry for over a decade. She began her career in life insurance then quickly moved into investment research before grabbing the opportunity to pursue her passion for financial planning. She enjoys the variety of helping clients from all walks of life achieve their financial goals and works with individuals and couples to minimize their tax burdens, maximize their savings and investment earnings, understand college funds, organize their estate planning, and everything else that touches their financial lives. Veronica’s passion is guiding people to make sound financial decisions and become financially independent in a way that works for them. She feels a deep sense of commitment to her work and truly feels grateful for every single client and colleague she has had the pleasure of working with over the years. In addition to her CFP® designation, Veronica also has an MBA & a Life & Health license. In her spare time, Veronica spends time with her husband and rescue pet in Port Washington, NY, and enjoys educating youth around the tri-state area in all areas of financial literacy and mentoring others as a Transformational Life Coach. Internationally renowned entrepreneur, author and keynote speaker, Robert Wallace joins the Invest In You podcast to discuss entrepreneurship, successful mindsets, reaching your goals and objectives and why it is critical to adapt to the environment around you. Listen in and discover business and life lessons that can help scale your business, build more strategic partnerships and disrupt your industry. KEY TAKEAWAYS The younger generation is not interested in nibbling around the edges of existing systems as that may not work, they will look to disrupt the system, break it and then re-build it into a system that is conducive and reflects the interest of the people. You can get a lot more done by working with people through strategic partnerships. 99% of entrepreneurs who have been successful are where they are because they have built alliances and strategic partnerships with parties who share their vision. Never lose the ability to dream. It is the power of a dream that will change lives and that will change the world. As we get older the pressures of life discourage our ability to dream. Be clear on the destination point that you desire to be in the future and build a bridge to where you want to be by aligning yourself with others who share your vision around the world as they will help you to achieve your dreams. The environment around us will always be changing and it is critical that entrepreneurs must be able to pivot, change and adapt their business to be successful during tough times. BEST MOMENTS “All of us have at least one book in our gut” “Always disrupt a system, break it apart and re-build it” “I wish I had learned the lessons of strategic partnerships when I was younger” “Never lose the ability to dream” “Be clear on the destination point that you desire to be in the future” “There is an art and a science to building partnerships to achieve your objectives in business” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://www.robertwallace.com/ ABOUT THE GUEST Robert L. Join an exciting discussion around entrepreneurship, mindset, sales and social media as Invest In You welcomes Real-Estate Agent, Author and Speaker, Chris Stafford to the show. Listen in as they dive into sales and marketing techniques, how to build a routine of consistency and what it takes to start, grow and scale a business. KEY TAKEAWAYS Social media is a double-edged sword. It can be positive for advertising and for reaching your audience and sharing positive messages, however there is also a lot of negativity attached to social media that can affect your mindset, harm your brand and take up a lot of your time. Your success as an entrepreneur is dependent on your routine and your ability to be consistent with ‘your way’ of selling. You have to find what works for you, for your business and what you can do on a consistent business to drive sales. Entrepreneurs miss out on a lot of business if they’re not leveraging their S.O.I (sphere of influence). Referral marketing is a great way to get new clients. After service, survey your happy customers and generate a positive flow of new clients into your business. Social can also be used to connect with professionals that will be connected to your ideal customers so ask them for referrals. Similar to listing and selling properties, starting a business takes tenancy, persistence, consistency and a fun environment to work in. Investing in you means to invest in your physical and mental wellbeing and to develop a solid routine that sets you up for success. BEST MOMENTS “The most important factor to sales is consistency” “Everybody has to have a consistent routine and your success is dependent upon your routine” “Entrepreneurs can be the connection to your community” “It’s important to put yourself in a state of joy by loving what you do” VALUABLE RESOURCES www.TheAgentUnleashed.com Massive Abundance Book CONTACT METHOD Chris Stafford has been selling property in San Francisco for over 25+ years and is a successful author, coach and teacher and now helps others get into real-estate. Fredrik is joined by Digital marketing expert, founder of GrowthExpertz and leader in growing and scaling startups from Dubai to Silicon Valley, Andrew Miller. Listen in as Fredrik and Andrew discuss how to efficiently scale start-ups by growing your own PR list, how to master the foundations of marketing and why focusing on your mission and solving problems and not earnings millions is the key to success. KEY TAKEAWAYS When starting and scaling a business, your goal should never be to exit, your goal should be to solve problems and help people. If you reach a point where an exit investment injection of capital will help you reach your mission quicker than you should take it, but your goal should never be to make millions. Follow the marketing foundation by tightening your analytics, ensuring you have the right call to action and the correct lead magnet for your product, the right social media branding and onboarding process. All of these things, in the beginning, are hard to get right and it’s therefore important to hire a consultant for the first 6-12 months marketing for your start up. Public relations and PR marketing boils down to building a list of people that you want to tell your story to and communicating it in an easy to consume manner that builds interest and intrigue and value in the minds of your audience. Growth hack: Subconsciously grow your own PR list as you begin to develop your product. Over time your list will give you a head start when it comes to realising news about your product or service. BEST MOMENTS “Learn to walk on your own before you start sprinting with Facebook or Google etc” “People aren’t investing in the right areas of marketing at the right time”. “Everyone is building products to help solve peoples problems” “When the goal is to make money and profit, you have a shorter fuse to move onto the next thing.” “The US market for startups is worth 10-15 times more than the rest of the world combined and around 70% is located in San Francisco” “You have to keep changing what you do in your life until you find that product-market fit that makes you happy. Many people say that education is the key to success and today’s guest, founder of education platform ScholarKid, Soraya Grace 100% agrees. Success needs a person with a strong foundation and lots of knowledge and wisdom and today, Grace shares her lessons on how to start, grow, scale and run a successful business. KEY TAKEAWAYS Business should be taught at an early age to nurture the entrepreneurial gift of a person at an early stage and gives people the advantage of time. Education is always the key to success, and parents should prioritise school and a comfortable environment for your child to build knowledge. Armed with knowledge, your kid will overcome lots of challenges. Nowadays, if you are not online or on any social media platforms out there, then you will not be as successful as you want. It’s easy to advertise your products or services online, buy goods and even work virtually and by being online you will be able to keep up with the trends to scale up your business. Your team will also determine how successful you become, because if you have a very good team that works for you passionately then your business will grow. Schools should be run wisely, as both a business and a school offering quality education to their pupils, striking s balance between a school and a business. People need to have a network as well as maintain a good relationship with the people in their network. BEST MOMENTS “A lot of children or students have different learning styles.” “It's so easy to start anything online now and social media.” “Making assumptions can lead us down the wrong path.” "England has made it pretty easy for anyone to start a company." “Every country has got its pros and cons.” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://www.scholarkid.com/ ABOUT THE GUEST Soraya Grace is the founder of ScholarKid, an education technology platform founded in 2017. Many investors have lost money in the stock market by listening to others, watching the news or following a trend. This happens because they make their decisions based on emotions, and in today's episode, Invest In You guest, Sean Tepper introduces us to software that reduces risk, saves money and invests confidently. KEY TAKEAWAYS What is FIRE Movement? This is Financial Independence, Retire Early, and it's for those individuals who they want to do more in life than just work. They want to enjoy the hobbies and enjoy the freedom and it's about creating revenue streams that are leveraged, or build something and sell something and take a liquidity payment. A wise entrepreneur is someone that invests in different things and has multiple streams of income and does not depend on one. This is advantageous in that when one investment goes wrong, there's still income flowing in. Business people should also have platforms such as podcasts where they can educate young upcoming entrepreneurs and to elevate their voices and increase their reach. An entrepreneur is someone that has patience. Investing is one of those things where if you're looking for instant gratification, immediate rewards, it's not for you, you've got to be patient, but the payoff can be huge. There is no such thing as luck, to become successful, you have to work very hard, you need to put in a lot of your time into what you do and be wise when making major decisions in your company. The best investment that you can make is in the stock Buy shares when they are selling at a low cost so that you can sell them at a higher price and make a profit. BEST MOMENTS “You don't need as much money as you think to live a millionaire lifestyle.” “The foundation of logic is math.” “Don’t take risks but make definitive returns.” “Constant investments in yourself, it's not money, making sure you're bringing in the right knowledge.” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://tykr.pro/ ABOUT THE GUEST Sean Tepper, the founder and CEO of TYKR is a software guy and has been in software engineering for about 15 years. Do you want to make your questioning better and better and learn how to scale your business in extraordinary ways? Discover Fredrik and Ivan’s major tips on how to question others, how to start and run your business successfully which businesses books can help take your venture to the next level. KEY TAKEAWAYS If you are an entrepreneur or you want to be an entrepreneur, you should read as many business books as you possibly can so that you can get the knowledge that is required in the business world. How To Make Money As a Teenager is a book that is about to go out to the public but it is still in the process of being finished and I'm sure that this will be one of the best business books there will be for everyone. Most people don’t know how to plan for their money, such that when they are given $100, it feels like nothing and they wouldn’t know what to buy with that. It is important that you learn how to use your money wisely if you want to be successful in life. Use the mental power to not dwell too much on failure and be super active. Attend training, study and involve yourself in positive activities, this will help you deal with failure. People are so stuck in their minds and sometimes they get hindered by consumption and using other people's products to become pacified and not do something themselves. Entrepreneurs just take the initiative and wait for the outcome. Invest while you are young because you have the advantage of time, in that, when you fail in the first trial, you still havetime to recover. You can keep the focus of this by keeping yourself active and physically fit through exercises. BEST MOMENTS “It’s a big process to put your thinking into words.” “Learn from your mistakes and do it better.” “Just do it.” “It takes 10,000 hours to become an expert in something.” "Don't get stuck applying for jobs that you don't get, stay home, live at home, save costs, live frugally, and build your experiences." “Work and live on your passion project.” “Spend the first few years working before trying to do any entrepreneurial things yourself.” “You can kill your passion by making it your job.” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://tribeofmentors.com/ Property Magic by Simon Zutshi Trust is the New Currency by Sheila Holt, Fredrick Sandvall How To Make Money As a Teenager ABOUT THE HOST Serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers. David Blatt, the CEO of Capstack Partners & real-estate investor joins the Invest In You Podcast to discuss all things investing. Join in as David, Fredrik & Charlie dive into the art of negotiation, what a good deal looks like for you and your investors and discuss some golden rules real estate investors should live by when trying to secure deals at the right price, build a long-term sustainable income and create generational wealth. KEY TAKEAWAYS Pre-COVID the market was so competitive and it was difficult to find BMV deals that made sense. Since Covid-19 has distributed the market it has brought about a lot of new opportunities in real estate investing and now deals are being struck at much better prices to the investor. If you’re only dealing in price than you’re not able to be creative. Real estate negotiating is all about learning what your counterpart needs and how you can help them. This could be the speed of the purchase/sale, flexibility, creating more value and “enlarging the pie” As an entrepreneur, If you want to stay in front of the computer screen then there are other businesses that are more inclusive that way, but real estate investing allows you to bring in a human dynamic to the equation, the skill of negotiation and ability to build lasting relationships. It’s important to think about your base price in a deal/negotiation that you’re willing to take on. It’s important to stay disciplined and only do the deal at a price that makes sense for you. Real estate is a source of wealth-building that requires a long-term horizon and no speculation as it’s not a liquid asset class. To be successful you must think for the long term and this can be beneficial when competing against institutions who have a 3-5 year exit plan for deals. You should always be assessing your situation, learning and asking how you could do it better in the future. Investing requires discipline and the ability to understand what you’re going to walk away with after a deal is done. Is it worth your time? BEST MOMENTS “You’ve got to bring money into the deal and for me, it’s like putting together a puzzle” “CapStack is a mix of different funding sources bringing money to a deal. Usually a combination of debt and equity.” “Capstack means a pile of money, but also a bunch of risk” “Don’t get caught in the trap where you overstretch on price, hoping the market will help you recover your losses” “If you want to speculate, don’t play and real estate. Go and trade in the stock market.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Howard Marks - The Most Important Thing Subscribe: Invest In You Podcast Order and Read Trust is the New Currency book by Sheila Holt & Fredrik Sandvall Kickstarter How To Make Money As A Teenager book ABOUT THE HOST Serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers. Discover today the benefits of investing in yourself both professionally and personally as Fredrik is joined by David Henzel, a veteran entrepreneur who has been building in the SaaS and e-Commerce space for over 20 years. Together they discuss how to invest in yourself, why having short and long term goals can allow you to stay on track and why accountability partners are necessary to your progress. KEY TAKEAWAYS It is important to invest in each aspect of your life. This could be investing time in your family and investing in your business but it is crucial to invest in yourself. Invest in your own personal growth which is a combination of keeping yourself in shape, as well as growing mentally. A great way to grow is by investing in learning new skills and information, this can be through audiobooks, personal training, travelling and conferences. Another way to invest in yourself is by building your personal brand. Build an amazing network of people with the aim of improving the lives of each person you meet. Each time you meet someone new, think to yourself ‘where can I provide value to this person?’. This could be by offering them advice in personal development, training tips or offering them business connections. Whilst there may not be much short term gain, think of the long game and how this can help you in the future. Having a ten-year goal is a rough direction of where you want to go in life. Having a shorter 30-day goal is the actionable plan. These are the things that you want to quickly accomplish and they are goals that are achievable within that time frame. Set yourself further goals to reach in 90 days time, these are actionable goals that can easily be reached in this time frame with dedication. Without something like this, you are wandering around aimlessly without clear direction. Having someone to discuss your training with, or even to train alongside will help keep you accountable. Accountability is the key to progress. Meeting in small groups for a short period of time, whereby you talk through your personal progress will ensure you are extra accountable and help you to stay on track. Having accountability partners makes all the difference and makes it easy to stay on track. BEST MOMENTS “I like being at conferences and learning from smart people, so yes, always invest in ourselves.” “If we don’t have health, we won’t have much. We won’t have the power to endure and enjoy.” “It is okay to nose dive if you get back up and do it again.” ABOUT THE GUEST David Henzel is a veteran entrepreneur who has been building in the SaaS and e- Commerce space for over 20 years. He has had multiple million-dollar exits including MaxCDN. In today’s episode, Fredrik is joined by Blockchain Entrepreneur and Investor, Cryptocurrency expert and CEO of Token Metrics Ian Balina, along with former Goldman Sachs financial market thought-leader and Token Metrics ‘Chief Technical Analyst’ Bill Noble. Together they discuss the impact Cryptocurrency is likely to have on the world, warning signs to look out for when investing in Crypto along with discussing the importance of doing thorough research into Cryptocurrency before taking the plunge to invest. KEY TAKEAWAYS Token Metrics helps onward people into Cryptocurrency by giving them a trustable resource to help them build a winning portfolio in Crypto space. Not everybody has the time to do research into Crypto as it is unlike other markets. There are many scams in this space so Token Metrics is a trusted resource where humans go through and do fundamental analysis on projects, they then take data and find ways to help people find an edge in terms of investing. On the Token Metrics platform, they have a metric code and liquidity ratio where they take the daily trading value versus the market cap. Ideally, you want to be in a Crypto asset that has a ratio of over 10% or higher. You also want to be cautious of projects that have a ratio of over 100%. That means most of the people who hold it, put it for one day or less. Meaning it is heavily traded and could be on a VAT exchange where there is a lot of inorganic trading falling. Warning signs can come from within yourself. Many people come to Crypto with $1000 and they want to know how to make 10 X or 100 X quickly. The best way not to get scammed in Crypto is to go in with the right mentality that you have to first learn the space, and then you have to focus yourself on making 10-20% returns. For people who want to get involved in Cryptocurrency at a high level, it is definitely recommended to do the research. Keep up to date on well-known publications as education is crucial. Whether this is by getting books or subscribing to different new letters and YouTube channels. As you get better in the space then you will find yourself being more comfortable with Cryptocurrency and able to invest. Cryptocurrency is a free market. People who grew up with an economics textbook grew up with a reverence for price discovery for economics for free markets. Right now the only place you will find that is in Crypto. Crypto is building new money and new tech stocks. Crypto is not only the future of money, but it may also be the future of banking and tech, and it is being built quickly. Not only can Crypto be a financial asset, but it can also be a tech play unto itself. BEST MOMENTS “As a technical analyst, I dedicated my whole life to helping people.” “ If all else fails, if you go to a website for a Cryptocurrency and it has a logo that looks like it should be a tattoo and its only a one-page website, then you should be careful.” “In terms of global market cap, Crypto hasn’t even registered yet.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe: Invest In You Podcast Order and Read Trust is the New Currency book by Sheila Holt & Fredrik Sandvall Kickstarter How To Make Money As A Teenager book ABOUT THE HOST Serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers. How has lockdown affected your health and fitness journey? Join Fredrik, Charlie and Ivan today as they discuss how their fitness and lifestyle has been affected by COVID-19. Learn how to overcome the COVID restrictions when training, the benefits of volume training as well as how intermittent fasting can help weight loss. KEY TAKEAWAYS Due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic training for sports can be more challenging. If for your chosen sport, you require a partner to spar or play with then you may need to adapt your training style. Compensate for your lack of partner or trainer by concentrating on getting a high level of strength and conditioning as well as mastering cutting weight to be bigger than your future competitors. When competitions or matches resume, this will help you to win your opponents on a physical advantage rather than a skilled advantage. Very often, we get stuck in a routine. This means that you will be doing exactly the same training programme which is often limited to just a few key muscle groups in the body (usually visual muscle groups). You may find that your body will plateau very quickly as you do not really push the limits of your training programme. Volume training is really good for improving your endurance. Not only for today and tomorrow but for your whole life. It may not be as convenient, and it may take a longer time to train but it gives you things which will be valuable for life. The more you train something such as cycling, the more improvements you will see. Intermittent fasting is when you have a feeding window. It is a lifestyle and diet that is based around when you are eating. The point of intermittent fasting is to have a small feeding window, for 8 hours a day and a large fasting window of 16 hours. This can allow your body to use fat as fuel which will reduce your body fat percentage. Losing weight is never going to be easy. You have to surround yourself with people that reinforce you that it is not easy but who will support you. It is great if you have followers who know you that offer encouragement and who may use your weight loss as inspiration. The traditional way of losing weight is usually the right way. Whereby you are constantly putting in the hard work, pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and doing your best. BEST MOMENTS “Of course I didn’t know there was going to be a global pandemic, but I am still training as if it wasn’t there.” “I allow a lot of time during the day to be in a calorie deficit.” “It is just so nice to find oneself again.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe: Invest In You Podcast Order and Read Trust is the New Currency book by Sheila Holt & Fredrik Sandvall Kickstarter How To Make Money As A Teenager book ABOUT THE HOST Serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers. In today's podcast Fredrick, Ivan and Charlie are joined by the founder of MemberMouse and owner of LearnGongFuTea.com, Eric Turnnessen. Together, they discuss why it is important for people to have a personal practice which enables them to learn about themselves, the law of attraction as well as discussing how the things you invest your time in, is what will become of you. KEY TAKEAWAYS With a 9-5 job you get certain dependability and a certain level of security but you also do not have any ability to make things speed up on your own. Personality-wise, if you are okay with taking risks and enjoy unpredictable moments then you will enjoy the life of an entrepreneur. It is really important for people to have a personal practice where they learn about themselves. It is about having something that you do consistently every day because if you do something consistently, you will learn to tune into the more subtle aspects of that experience. When you turn into the subtle aspects of something, you form a deeper relationship with it and you learn to listen more. The law of attraction is a positive thing. Like so many other things, it got ‘productised’ to the point where it almost lost some of its original magic. The fundamental action of making the law of attraction work is that you can’t skip the step of working on yourself and you can’t skip the step of having some discipline or daily practice. Commitment is the tool for getting to know yourself, without this you will not manage to overcome obstacles in your life. The challenge and the beauty of quiet are that you can’t look at anything but yourself. Anything that comes up, you cannot distract from the fact that that is you, so you either look at it or you run away. Ultimately, the path of surrender and trusting what comes is not about wanting something, it is about being open to whatever comes. Investment in yourself is about thinking what do we really have to give? The only thing we really have is time, and in each moment we need to look and see what we are choosing to invest our attention in. The things that you invest your time in is what you will become. Think about how much time you spent in your day, with yourself. BEST MOMENTS “So many times I got caught in the wheels of the business.” “How you do one thing is how you do everything.” “The problem with the law of attraction is that everybody thinks it is about what they want. Do you really know what you want? Where did the idea come from that you want a certain thing?” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe: Invest In You Podcast Order and Read Trust is the New Currency book by Sheila Holt & Fredrik Sandvall Kickstarter How To Make Money As A Teenager book ABOUT THE HOST Serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers. We all have access to the same amount of time during the day, but how we use our time is completely different, if you often find yourself wondering where your time has gone, then join Fredrik and Charlie as they discuss time management skills and debunk some myths. Today they discuss ways to make your work into a vacation, choosing wisely who to spend your time and energy on and the importance of creating a schedule rather than an ever-growing ‘to-do list’. KEY TAKEAWAYS We pretty much have all the same amount of time available, it is just more about what we decide to do with our time. There are lots of ideas and aspirations of what your dream week might look like, it is really worthwhile to think about, there are many questions you can consider about your own dream week, and to be able to live this you will probably need to be able to finance it in once way or another. “We all get the same 168 hours each week.” is a true statement, but we all use those hours very differently. How you set up your life could be a way of how you can make your work into your vacation. There are many of your tasks that you are able to get done from a different company by working remotely, this is one example of how you can turn your job into a vacation. Spending time with people that drain your energy might not be ideal. There are some people who we really want to spend more time with, and some people who we should spend time with but for some reason, we don’t. Some things may be easy to do but many believe it is easier to do simply do nothing, and to stay in a none action mode, to pick up your phone and procrastinate. If you have a routine in place, procrastination may not be as big an issue as it will eventually become second nature and the longer you have something in your routine, the less you want to break it. Instead of having a ‘to-do list’ it may be more effective to schedule things. If you place things into your daily schedule, this means it actually gets done instead of just having an ever-growing list of things to do. One of the most important skills we learnt from school was the importance of having to stick to a schedule in order to get stuff done. Another trick when it comes to not having enough hours in the day is to prioritise your time wisely. We often know what will really help us towards our own goal, and this can hopefully help you to prioritise what is most important to you, your team, your company or wherever you like to pin your focus. BEST MOMENTS “There are so many ideas around time, and how to use your time in the best possible way.” “It is really important, how you spend time with different people.” “Usually whoever screams the loudest gets the most attention, and that is not at all how it should be.” “Do you want to fill your day or do you want your day to fill itself?” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe: Invest In You Podcast Order and Read Trust is the New Currency book by Sheila Holt & Fredrik Sandvall Kickstarter How To Make Money As A Teenager book ABOUT THE HOST Serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers. Discover the importance of marketing your business today as Fredrik is joined by Johnathan Pach, an award-winning entrepreneur, and the current CEO of ‘NXT Generation’ in London with future plans to relocate to LA. Together they discuss the uprising of video marketing, utilising social media to educate and gain future clients as well as the importance of creating a good work-life balance. KEY TAKEAWAYS Video marketing is the way forward. Gone are the days of creating 4 minute Youtube videos about your company, many people don’t have the time to look at those expansive videos. In order for a marketing video to be captivating it should be snippets and snapshots condensed into 10-15 seconds. Isolation has opened many peoples’ eyes to the possibility of creating something that they are passionate about. We will see a big influx of new entrepreneurs coming into the market coming up with fantastic ideas and launching their businesses. Now is the time to jump on board to launch a new business venture. Whilst it is still important to ensure you have a good website in place to make sure to use social media to reach your potential clients. Utilize blogging platforms and create informative social media content to educate your potential clients about your company so that they want to become a customer and use your product. Make sure you post on each of your platforms daily with lots of different updated media content. Invest in yourself by growing a great company, but also do not forget your health, your wellness and your spirituality is the number one thing that is important to you on this planet. Make sure you have that work-life balance, work hard, enjoy the process and love everything that you are doing but you must bring balance into your life. Property investment is always a good idea, purchase properties to rent out. This way you have the flexibility of passive income whilst you are working on your business, possibly overseas so that you don’t have to worry as much about your personal finances should you have some properties in your home country. BEST MOMENTS “The human mind can only operate at a certain level, where they only have a few seconds of engagement and interaction with a product for us to know if we are going to go ahead with it or not.” “You’ve got to be passionate about a product or service, you have to have that inner passion so when you are selling it and when you are promoting your services, you have got the love of the game and the love of the product.” “Come up with a fantastic new idea which you are really passionate about and if you can work from your laptop and you only need to use the internet to accomplish your goals, it gives you access to move freely across the globe and not be stuck in one place. “ VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe: Invest In You Podcast Order and Read Trust is the New Currency book by Sheila Holt & Fredrik Sandvall Kickstarter How To Make Money As A Teenager book ABOUT THE GUEST Johnathan Pach is an award-winning entrepreneur, and the current CEO of ‘NXT Generation’, an extraordinary direct response media & marketing agency based in London and Los Angeles. In today’s podcast, Fredrick is joined by entrepreneur Kevin Aries, who discusses his new business venture ‘September ready go’ an online summer camp built to get teens “September-Ready” both mentally and physically, armed with the tools they’ll need to close any gaps in their learning. Together they discuss popular memory techniques, how to integrate yourself within business communities and why this is crucial as well as the problems with mass education and how you can help your teenager outside of the classroom. KEY TAKEAWAYS Memory techniques are not something often taught. The people who will benefit the most from having good memories are children, who have to pass exams and learn large amounts of information. Humans are good at memorising places, stories and vivid images. A useful memory technique would be to encode a piece of difficult information to learn and you turn that into a vivid image, you store it mentally by picturing that information happening in a particular place and you create a story with the new information. If you are a business person and you are not already plugged into a business community then you should immediately do that. Go and find some people who are motivated and fired up, that community is full of people who are pivoting like crazy, taking their businesses online and finding new opportunities. The problem with mass education is that everybody gets average teaching. Use other recourses such as books to educate them in business and entrepreneurship to read outside of the classroom, or if you decide to homeschool them. If you are able to create a group of teenagers or young people who are highly motivated and fired up, they are likely to become entrepreneurs. We know whatever happens, that teenagers are resilient and are able to constantly reinvent themselves with all the changes they face, if they are able to do this then they are going to do well. BEST MOMENTS “Suddenly you realise there is such a better way of doing something that you did all the time, and you think ‘well why wouldn’t you teach a child that.” “The way it feels is like you were on Windows, and now somebody has uploaded Mac IOS, it feels like ‘oh my goodness, I didn’t know my brain worked like that.” “ We are so engrained by the state education system that says you have got to learn everything.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe: Invest In You Podcast Order and Read Trust is the New Currency book by Sheila Holt & Fredrik Sandvall Kickstarter How To Make Money As A Teenager book https://www.septemberreadygo.com/blog https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_DrOglHtSk ABOUT THE HOST Serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers. In this episode of the Invest In You Podcast, Fredrik and Charlie talk to Tara Halliday, Director of Complete Success, about the significant correlation of being a high achiever and having impostor syndrome. Tara herself is a big dreamer and has been a ‘go-getter’ since childhood. But when presented with extra challenges, she goes back to her comfort zone because of her doubts and fears. Sound familiar? Well, you might have symptoms of impostor syndrome. Tune in today to know what it is, its causes, its symptoms, and some tips on how to prevent it. KEY TAKEAWAYS What is impostor syndrome? Impostor syndrome was first discovered in 1978, but it was only during the last 5 years that it become more talked about. It is “the secret feeling of being a fraud when you’re not and the fear of being found out.” It affects 70% of high achievers most of the time. People with impostor syndrome mostly feel confused, isolated, overwhelmed, and anxious. Fake it till you make it. This aphorism can be used if you have zero or less confidence in doing something. There is no other way to get comfortable with, for example, public speaking, than to try it. And then try it again until you’re already confident and good at it. What causes impostor syndrome? It’s a combination of 3 things: A very particular activity; gets triggered when we take on something unknown high challenge and low support the belief that my worth depends on what I do It’s okay to be nervous before doing things you aren’t used to doing. Don’t get held back by your fear. Calm your nervous system down. Breathe mindfully and do some meditation. Taking risks is part of getting the best results. Invest in yourself. Get the most out of your own life. Rather than being ‘driven’ by something, try to attain such calm that you’re ready and unafraid to take on any adventure—an adventure where you’re only thinking of how far you can go and not limited by anything. BEST MOMENTS “It is this low-level doubt that people have and it can hold them back. It can also lead to stress-related illnesses.” “A part of learning is being prepared to fail.” “The research says that people who experience impostor syndrome make up 70% of high achievers.” “People with impostor syndrome know they’re good. It’s just they feel that they aren’t good.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Read Unmasking: The Coach’s Guide to Impostor Syndrome by Tara Halliday. Fredrik is flying solo for this episode as he reflects on the current worldwide situation and the changes it has already brought to daily life for everyone. Fredrik has experience as a medical officer in the special forces and considerable experience and expertise as a leader considering both others and his own welfare in extreme situations. He shares his thoughts on what’s important and how being prepared can be the best way to move forward in a world that is changing the way it operates rapidly. KEY TAKEAWAYS The economy is based on the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services. Due to the global pandemic currently being experienced consumption has changed. This global crisis will affect everyone but in different ways. Businesses have changed the ways they are working or have closed completely; the world has changed considerably in a very short amount of time. The positive financial market increases over the last few years have been wiped off. Billions if not trillions of value has been lost from the financial markets, at least temporarily. Politically over the last few years, there have been extensive power plays from different leaders and increased protectionism between countries which has been evident in the past weeks. For the financial markets, the Coronavirus has created the black swan of finance – as people continue to try and move liquid money out of assets. People have been exiting lots of different strategies at the same time Each country is trying to protect their own currencies by offering loans and implementing strategies that will allow people to operate on increased credit. Many industries have been stopped through government intervention and it’s difficult to know how this will look moving forward. The whole world is slowing down with less traffic as people work from home and the world operates in a different way. BEST MOMENTS ‘If you are working to be prepared then you are going to be in a stronger position overall’ ‘There is a huge fluctuation in currencies with the pound being at its lowest for some time’ ‘I took the tough decision to stay in the UK while my family are in Sweden and I don’t know when I’ll see them again’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Invest In You Podcast Trust is the New Currency book by Sheila Holt & Fredrik Sandvall Kickstarter How To Make Money As A Teenager book ABOUT THE HOST Serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers. Location-Independent Businesses are currently a hot trend in the business world. But what are they exactly? Who are the people operating them? And most importantly, could a Location Independent Business be a fit for you? Fredrik and Charlie take a look at this growing phenomenon, and give you a complete guide to working out if you could benefit from being location-independent. KEY TAKEAWAYS A Location-Independent Business is a business that can operate from anywhere in the world at any time. With the advent of the digital/online world, permanent connection allows business owners to free themselves from the limitations of location. Get rid of stuff - Don’t let your possessions be a barrier to your operating independently of location. Free yourself from everything extraneous. Develop relevant skills - Some skills are better suited to employment, while others will allow you take advantage of being location-free. Set up a location-independent business of your own - If your skills allow you to be free of locale, then you could use this option. But ensure that you are paying tax in the correct country. Make sure your permanent belongings are designed for being location-free. Things such as mobile contracts and subscriptions need to work anywhere in the world. Nomad Community projects present a huge opportunity for professionals who wish to tie travel into work, and operate around the globe. Lower your costs - Mainly applies to your home country. It is about making sure the costs during your absence are as reduced as possible. You can sub-let any properties you own in your home country in order to provide yourself with an income while you’re away. FIRE (Financially Independent - Retire Early) is a movement that’s been around for some time. It involves living from accumulated wealth, and being allowed total freedom of movement. Assets such as real-estate and investments keep earning for you no matter where in the world you are. Building a portfolio with this in mind for the future is a very wise plan for those who aspire to travel later. Be frugal or splash out? Do you really need those luxuries? Could you do just as well by saving your money this time? Added pleasures are always welcome, but be wise in how you spend your money. Communications will become more and more essential the more location-free you become. Remember to stay as connected as possible. Your income will depend upon it. Prepare your family, and to some extent, involve them in your travel plans. But remember that in the end, it’s your life, and the decisions you make are your own. Live your life your way. Timing is everything - Don’t assume that just because you want to be location-independent, that you can do it any time. You many have commitments that keep you from this lifestyle, so consider carefully. BEST MOMENTS ‘Customise your belongings so that they’re slightly more mobile’ ‘It was the best sushi I’ve ever had!’ ‘You can live like a king, depending on where you choose to go’ ’Systems free up time for you’ ‘You can have candles - That was very specific!’ ‘It’s your life and your choice' VALUABLE RESOURCES Invest In You Podcast Nomad Communities - https://remoteyear.com/ ABOUT THE HOST Serialentrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers. Fredrik and Charlie have an event upcoming on the 14th march 2020 for teenagers and parents of teenagers to help them build a business. In this episode they both discuss what their event will include and give you some tips for how you can start your own business too! KEY TAKEAWAYS Humans can change what you want and your life, we all have free will. The power of why and how is so important to remember because it’s hard to do something if you don’t know how you’re going to do it. Alternatively, if your why is strong enough then you’ll find a way to do it. Find your preferred energy and what you’re best at so that you can play to your strengths. A lot of people just fall into a job or career but you don’t have to be an entrepreneur to prevent this. You could be an ‘intrepreneur’ for example. Set yourself goals so you have motivation to get out of bed and do what you need to do. You can choose the easy route or the hard route, often people follow the crowd as this is the easiest thing to do but it’s not always the right thing for you to do. Push your boundaries and boost your confidence by coming along to these kind of events. Choose a product that’s going to give your audience a lot of value and provide something that majority of your clients are demanding. Separate business activities so that you can delegate tasks to other people so that you’re not doing everything and you can focus what you’re best at. BEST MOMENTS ‘You can become a new version of yourself’ ‘The more you can give value, the more you can sell’ ‘Entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone and that’s alright’ ‘A smile is free but it can provide happiness’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Find Jules @ www.standempowered.com or www.linkedin.com/in/julesjohan https://www.amazon.com/You-Are-Genius-Marie-Ruzicka-ebook/dp/B07WSXGMYP London Event - How to Make Money as a Teenager: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/how-to-make-money-as-a-teenager-1-day-business-education-for-younger-people-tickets-93145844729 ABOUT THE HOST Serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers. This week, Charlie and Fredrik talk to Daniel Priestley, one of the stars of the entrepreneurial world, whose incredible journey so far has seen him at the helm of numerous start-ups that have quickly become multi-million dollar ventures. Daniel talks about his recipe for success in business, how to accelerate your entrepreneurial journey, and how to stand out, scale-up and make a positive impact on the world. KEY TAKEAWAYS Daniel’s rise through business was rapid, thanks to aid from his mentor, and the instant take-up of the business he helped to found. Dent Global has been founded in order to make a positive impact on business, and on the world, by improving the ways in which businesses operate globally. Daniel and Dent have been focussing on rehabilitating offenders, and encouraging them to channel their sense of invention and drive into making a positive impact through business. Any idea that is going to become a product, actually has to become four products: A gift - something you can give away for free (as in a trial) A product for prospects - A low risk way of working together on something Core product - a full and remarkable solution Client product - managing the journey going forward Celebrating success in your business is an essential part of operations. If you don’t celebrate the payoffs of success, then your brain will not want to repeat the procedure. So many seem to think that an invitation to coffee is an effective gateway into obtaining their wisdom as a mentor. Daniel is far more attracted to clarity, purpose and honesty. The best way to pre-market and gain funding for ventures, is through pre-sales. By going out to market and getting orders and deposits, or in some cases full payment, it’s easy to demonstrate to investors that you have a viable product. Acquisitions are a very healthy way of operating. You need to do your due diligence in order to make sure that the business is breathing on its own, but in general, they can be hugely sound in terms of investment. BEST MOMENTS ‘I got a front row seat in growing a business’ ‘An entrepreneur’s job is to go and make a dent in the universe’ ‘Profit actually happens as a result of the ecosystem’ ’The forces of demand and supply set the price’ ‘Business is all about doing the right things over and over again’ ‘With any great sport, you have to collect the trophy’ ‘When you buy a business, it’s like someone’s run the first 25 miles of a marathon for you' VALUABLE RESOURCES Invest In You Podcast Daniel Priestley Profile - https://www.entrepreneur.com/author/daniel-priestley Daniel Priestley at Forbes - https://www.forbes.com/sites/danielpriestley/#5b8b8f21b3cb Dent Global - https://www.dent.global ABOUT THE HOST Serialentrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers. In this episode, Fredrik and Charlie are with Jules Johan who is the co-founder of The Affirmative People and international best-selling author who helps individuals to find their Genius. Her focus is on finding others power through self-mastery, inner peace and purpose. They discuss in detail the work that Jules does, helping others understand their emotions and how they can master them so they can be a vital tool in decision making. In this positive podcast, you will find out more about self-mastery, martial arts and some insights to police work. KEY TAKEAWAYS I help people to develop self-mastery skills so they can help themselves Understanding their beliefs and triggers around others Everyone has their own challenges and those who are homeless or living on the streets have much to teach us about resilience and perseverance and surviving These individuals need an opportunity for the ‘playing field to be levelled’ for them There is a huge gap in self-mastery skills Emotions are a form of data and understanding them can help you to make better decisions. Our emotions can be tied to our values. People often suppress emotions instead of using them as a guide to help make informed decisions In life, it’s important to celebrate the steps we take I help people to clear their past self-limiting beliefs People go through life and enhance their survival instincts but often do not develop other skills such as resilience and perseverance. Ageing is a form of turning your belief systems into reality. Look at your belief systems what is propelling you forward and what is holding you back? It’s vital that people think about what the very long-term future will look like for them BEST MOMENTS ‘In martial arts, it’s about controlling our thoughts and mastery of those thoughts and emotions’ ‘It’s a whole process that has to be followed’ ‘People are so busy with their businesses they don’t think about the ageing process’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Find Jules @ www.standempowered.com or www.linkedin.com/in/julesjohan https://www.amazon.com/You-Are-Genius-Marie-Ruzicka-ebook/dp/B07WSXGMYP London Event - How to Make Money as a Teenager: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/how-to-make-money-as-a-teenager-1-day-business-education-for-younger-people-tickets-93145844729 ABOUT THE HOST Serial entrepreneur Fredrik Sandvall loves sharing ideas and interviewing world-class entrepreneurs and influencers.
