八月二十一号，星期五。 天刚蒙蒙亮，后院树丛里小鸟欢快的啁啾声将我们唤醒，于是起床洗漱一番便与妈妈共进早餐，然后是拥抱告别，驱车返回南加州。 摇下车窗，远望着妈妈站在门口频频挥手，她那一头银丝在晨风吹拂下轻轻飘扬，我的心不禁一颤，眼眶里顿时泛起了一层雾水。 是啊，人总归会老去，我们应该更加珍惜当下的生活。 在车转过第三个街角时，我先生微微一笑，然后建议我们在北加州再逗留一天，去我们曾经居住过的Healdsburg 小镇看看，我欣然赞同。人总是怀念故园风物。 Healdsburg小镇坐落于北加州索诺玛县著名的葡萄酒乡，居住人口大约一万一千，被誉为全美十大顶级小镇之一，山环水绕，极为美丽。 小镇拥有美国最为重要的三大美酒生产基地 ，即干溪谷，俄罗斯河与亚力山大山谷。 小镇始建于十八世纪初叶，自那时起便逐渐成为人们旅游度假、品酒享用美食的胜(sheng)地。 我们的汽车向北驶过壮观的旧金山大桥，沿着101号公路飞驰而去，途径Marin County, San Rafel, Nevato, Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Windsor 等小城，沿途山 峦葱茏, 景色绮丽，令人心旷神怡。 行驶了九十分钟左右，我们终于抵达美丽的Healdsburg小镇。故地重游，令人格外兴奋和感怀。 停好车后，我们便徜徉在小镇典雅幽静的小街。这里有许多古董珍玩，艺术气氛隆厚，趣味盎然。 中午时分，我们驱车前往红宝石山峦酒庄和干溪谷品酒买酒。我们买了三箱中意的Chardonnay 和Cabernet Sauvignon. 虽是Covid 19非常时期，可是品酒的游人还是颇为可观，四围都是快乐笑语，洋溢着欢乐气氛。傍晚时分，晚霞染红了西天，先生忽然牵起我的手，粲然一笑，动情地说：”亲爱的，今天是八月二十一号，下周二七月初七，是中国的七夕节，牛郎织女的美丽爱情传说感人至深，今夜就让我们在这个美丽的小镇提前过一个浪漫的七夕之夜吧。“ 听他一说，我忽然明白了他为什么临时决定要来酒乡，原来是要给我一个惊喜。 一时间，我心里很是感动，浅浅一笑，问到：“老地方吗？“ ”自然是老地方“。先生爽朗大笑。 我们说的老地方就是Baci 酒吧餐馆，这是一家意大利酒家，具有浓郁的地中海风情，酒香菜美，叫人身心愉悦，流连忘返。因为往日的七夕之夜，只要时间许可，我们都会来这里度过一个浪漫的夜晚。 由于疫情原因，Baci 酒馆只能在露天摆上桌椅和精美的阳伞，倒也别具风情。 由于夜晚刚刚降临，客人并不多。 斯时，一弯月芽儿斜挂在天空，与四周柔和的灯火交相辉映，自有一种浪漫的气氛。 我和先生一边享用钟情的菜肴和美酒，一边仰望着夜空，想着遥望牛郎织女星，追忆着小时候夏日乘凉时听奶奶讲述牛郎织女的爱情传说。 这时，忽听先生轻咳了一声，说：“还记得Cherlene那个悲伤的女孩吗？不知她现今怎样了？” 我停下了畅想，回答说：“上帝知道，上帝会赐幅她的。” 说着，我的思绪便回到五年前的七夕之夜。 那是一个宁静的夜晚，我和先生很晚才赶到酒馆，吃客大多都已离去。在我们的座位不远处有一个金发碧眼的漂亮女孩独坐一桌，一杯接一杯地喝着红酒，美丽的大眼睛噙着泪水，不时地失声傻笑。 约莫半个钟头过后，那位极为漂亮的女孩终于因酗酒过度趴伏在桌上，不醒人事。 这时，客人都已离去，只剩下我们夫妻二人。酒馆老板走来告诉我们，女孩名叫Cherlene，是这里的常客，是干溪谷半山庄一家酒庄老板的独生女，半年前她的父母因车祸双亡，几天前她的男友离他而去，现在的她每天晚上都来这里饮酒解愁，无比伤感。 我们和酒馆老板很熟了，彼此知根知底，加上他离不开，他只好请我们代劳，帮忙将悲伤醉酒的Cherlene送回家去。 我们接受了请托，开车将她送回她在山上的维多利亚风格的巨大豪宅，一直等她半夜清醒过来后我们才告别离开。 从此，Cherlene和我们成了朋友，时有往来。后来，她去东部大学读书，而我们又迁居加州南部，不经意间便很少见面联系。 回想至此，我同先生都感叹不已，希望她一切安好。接着，大家自是欢喜地聊东聊西，直到夜深方才依依不舍地道别离去。 临别前，我先生说：“周二就是中国的七月初七，一个中国最具浪漫色彩的情人节，届时，牛郎织女会在鹊桥相会。愿天下所有相爱的人都能修成正果，终结美满姻缘。“ 在驱车回来的路上，想到他们这一对甜蜜幸福的样子，甚为感动，不由得写下一首小诗为他们喜结连里做一个纪念。 虽说银河深又宽， 仙鹊搭桥岂怕难。 惟有苍天多垂爱， 情侣定能把家还。

In this episode of the Millennials in China podcast we interview Cherlene Ye, a Dutch digital marketer in Shanghai. Cherlene first arrived in China in 2013 to take Chinese language classes at Jiaotong University, and then opted to stay after finding a job in her field, digital marketing. Now, she is the Director of Marketing at iTalki, a rapidly growing online language learning app serving users across the world, and Cherlene shares her thoughts on being a young professional in China and how rewarding it can be. Hannah Kurchik is a joint law/social work student at the University of Windsor, and has spoken out in the past about her treatment by police when she reported a sexual assault. Irina Rosca is a Windsor Law grad who is now in practice at Monforton & Partners. Cherlene Cheung is a second-year law student at the University of Windsor, and a member of the national executive of Students for Consent Culture Canada (SFCC). Cherlene has also spoken out about her experiences reporting sexual assault in relation to how her undergraduate school (UOIT) dealt with her complaint. In this episode of Rhetoricity, I talk with Shyam Sharma about global citizenship, transnational writing, and the globalization of writing classrooms. Dr. Sharma is an assistant professor of writing and rhetoric at Stony Brook University in New York. His research focuses on writing in the disciplines, but he also studies translingualism and multilingualism, cross-cultural rhetoric, and multimodality in writing studies. He is currently working on a book project about international graduate students in the U.S. and has a piece in the September 2015 issue of College Composition and Communication. In this interview, which was conducted at the 2015 Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), we discuss Transnational Writing, a Facebook group that Dr. Sharma helped launch. We also talk about "Engaging the Global in the Teaching of Writing," a CCCC workshop that he participated in and helped facilitate.
