We have been forced to change more over the past 10 months than we ever have. COVID has put us all in situations where we've had to change and adapt if we want to continue life as we know it. Now, with a new year and a whole new set of potential obstacles ahead, we are facing even more change - in our personal lives, in our communities, and in our country. Changing is not simple or easy for most of us. It requires stepping out of our comfort zone and entering into scary and unfamiliar territory. Many of us fight against change for this very reason. In this episode we ask the question, "how can we better respond to change?" while seeking tools that may help us better adapt to our ever-shifting environment. Cindy Ray is our guest and guides us through this challenging, yet important, topic. Show Notes Cindy Ray graduated from Loyola University Maryland in 2003 with a master of Science in Pastoral Counseling. She also received her Basic Graduate Theological Studies from Wesley Theological Seminary in 2012. She has been with CareNet Counseling for 6 years after having a private practice in Wilmington, NC for 10 years. She is the Regional Director for CareNet in the Central Piedmont Region. We are living in a time of uncertainty and chaos. Due to COVID we have encountered so many changes and unknowns. There are those whose jobs have literally been eliminated because they are no longer needed. Some who are working from home are suffering because they don't feel as productive. Even parents are questioning their parenting skills as they try, and fail, to help their children with online learning. We are a community of people who are doubting ourselves - doubting our worth. Cindy Ray is a professional therapist in the Mooresville are and joins us for this episode as we explore the question of "worth." What is it, and how do we determine our own worth. Our hope and prayer is that you walk away from this episode feeling renewed and valued - even in these uncertain times. July 23rd, 1987 was supposed to be an exciting day for Cindy Ray. She was nearly 38 weeks pregnant and, all going well, her obstetricans appointment that afternoon would be her last before giving birth. She went about her day, making her husband Sam’s lunch before he biked to work, and dropping her 2 year old son, Luke, at the babysitters before doing drop-offs to her Tupperware customers. Cindy was trying to get everything done before her 2:00pm appointment, and she made it just in time. After her appointment, she left the medical center and started walking towards her car, but she never made it. Her husband looked for her but Cindy was nowhere to be found. Hours later, a woman splashed with blood and holding a newborn arrived at the hospital claiming she gave birth in her car. Her story didn’t add up and when medical staff began to suspect something sinister had happened, they called the police.Hosted by Erica KelleyWritten by Jessica AnnResearched by Haley Gray, Kim Fritz, and Jessica AnnAudio Engineering by Chaesare Gray of Gray MultimediaProduced by Haley GrayOriginal Graphic Art by Coley HornerOriginal Music by Chaesare Gray of Gray MultimediaYou can find us at: http://fetalabductionpod.com/https://www.facebook.com/fetalabductionpodhttps://twitter.com/fetalabductpodhttps://www.instagram.com/fetalabductionpod/Link to sources: https://docs.google.com/document/d/11Pq_qN1qKBSFT32dRa86cVIPj_Bb5UAgMKQQId9NmVU/edit?usp=sharing
Amber's story this week heads close to home as she used to work at a Hollywood Video in the 90's! In March of 1996 the events that would take place at Albuquerque's Hollywood Video would leave the town in shock. It would take the community raising $100,000 and an ex-boyfriend to find out what had happened that night. Celina's story takes place on a hot July afternoon also in Albuquerque when Cindy Ray, a Mormon woman who was expecting her second child would cross paths with Darci Pierce. Darci was a woman who would do anything to have a baby and that afternoon she had hit her breaking point. How far would she go? --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Some people throw around the word legend quite flippantly, however this weeks guest is a true Legend in every sense of the word. Bev Nicholas aka Cindy Ray has been around on the tattoo scene for over 60 years. She was Australias original tattooed lady, you would have no doubt seen her photos in tattoo books around the world. She spent her entire tattoo career in Melbourne, her studio 'Moving pictures' is still in the same spot in Williamstown. I have known Bev personally for about 10 years, i don't know why but i was more nervous doing this podcast episode than any other episode this series. I think it's because i have so much love and respect for Bev that i wanted the interview to do her justice, i hope it does just that. she has an amazing story.

The Real Crime Profile team returns to TV with a three-part series on Oxygen that looks into the death of Caylee Anthony and the trial of her mother, Casey. The Crime Writers On team returns to The Blotter Presents in the person of Rebecca Lavoie, who does not think well of the The Case Of series; sexist assumptions about maternal grief; the prosecution's failure to execute on a narrative; or, well, Casey Anthony. Sarah D. Bunting also has some comments about Jim Clemente's hat and Jim Fitzgerald's linguistic analysis, but the good news is, we've ruled Kareem Abdul-Jabbar out as a suspect! Later, we look at the Victrola of true-crime TV, Confessions Of Crime, and how its bar-mitzvah-video production values might actually make the horrific story of Cindy Ray's abduction and murder...well, not palatable, but at least less grim. Is there value in just getting in and out of a crime story in 21 minutes? Can we feel grateful that at least today's shows know how NOT to talk about childhood abuse? And should we have watched the TV movie about host Theresa Saldana's story instead? We'll try to answer all these questions -- plus an UPDATE! on Dan Brady's Unsolved Mysteries spot -- in The Blotter Presents, Episode 56.
