Is a 20-gauge or a 28-gauge powerful enough to hunt ducks or pheasants? Can you really hunt turkeys with a .410 bore? Are sub gauges able to do the job just as well as a 12-gauge? I examine the ballistics of waterfowl, pheasant, and turkey ammo across the most popular sub gauges to see how they really stack up. Yes, sub-gauges have less recoil and generally weigh less, but are they capable for the job using bismuth, steel, lead, or TSS hunting loads? Learn more about your ad choices. Gil's Arena Reacts To The 1st Round Of The NBA Draft as Gilbert Arenas & The Gil's Arena Crew break down the storylines of the opening night of the NBA Draft and tell their stories of how it felt to hear their name called and enter the NBA. They kick things off with the #1 overall pick Cooper Flagg who landed with the Dallas Mavericks and discuss how the NBA's next rookie phenom will impact the team still reeling from the Luka Doncic trade. They also react to LeBron James' high praise for the former Duke Blue Devil and discuss how much the Mavs' strong supporting cast of Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving will impact Flagg in his rookie season. They then react to the San Antonio Spurs adding 2 lottery picks in this year's draft including #2 overall pick Dylan Harper and break down how close this Spurs team is to contending as Victor Wembanyama enters his 3rd season with a roster loaded with young talent. Next, they continue their discussion on Ace Bailey who intentionally plummeted his draft stock only to end up with the Utah Jazz, sparking a debate on if the Rutgers superstar played himself throughout the draft process before giving a breakdown on the current state of the Philadelphia 76ers who passed on Bailey to pair VJ Edgecombe with their impressive core of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Paul George and Jared McCain. They then welcome comedian, actor and entertainer CP into the Arena to discuss his upcoming special Sunday After Six and virtually sit down with Award Winning Journalist Henry Abbot to discuss his new book "Ballistic" and give his take on the injury issues tearing through the NBA. Finally, Gil takes on more heat for his take on Ring Culture and offers a hostile response to Draymond Green who called out Gil & The Arena for having a take on championship culture despite never sniffing the Larry O'Brien during his playing days. SPECIAL EPISODE: In a June 2025 decision, the Oregon Court of Appeals delivered a controversial ruling on forensic evidence admissibility in State v. Adams, a case involving a 2018 shooting in Portland. The ruling has been interpreted and reported as a categorical rejection of the method of linking spent shell casings to a particular firearm—commonly used for decades. The court argued that the State failed to establish the scientific validity of the method under Oregon's rules of evidence. In this special edition of Crime and the Courtroom, John Collins shares his thoughts on the ruling, how important it is, and what it might mean for the future of not only firearm identification, but of all of the forensic pattern identification disciplines. It's Friday, June 20th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Buddhist relatives poison 3 kids of Christian couple in Laos In Northern Laos, Pa-yang, a young mother in her 20s and her husband, Lavee, became Christians in 2020. Since then, the villagers had tried to expel the family unless they recanted their faith in Christ. That comes as no surprise since 66% of Laotians are Buddhist and only 1.5% are Christian. The situation took an ugly turn when Pa-yang's relatives wanted her to sell them land she owned. When she refused, they hired someone to sneak into the home and poison a beverage. The three children got to it first. When Pa-yang and her husband were alerted to the medical emergency, they rushed back from the fields to find all three children lying ill on the floor. Tragically, the eldest did not survive and the other two were in comas, reports Open Doors. Open Doors paid for the hospitalization of the younger two children, who got better, as well as covering follow-up medical visits. The heartbroken mother said, “I am sad to lose my son, but I believe—and I know—that my son is sitting with Jesus in Heaven." Lavee, the father, added, "Even if there is more persecution, we will continue believing in Jesus. We will walk faithfully with the Lord, even if we are the only ones doing it. My encouragement comes from the story of Job in the Bible. He faced many tests and lost almost everything, but the Lord delivered him in the end. I believe the Lord God will always save us like He saved Job." Lavee said, "Please pray for our case in the court against the people who killed our child. Pray that the justice system is fair to us. Pray that the perpetrators do not find ways to harm us more if they are released. I am also unsure if God wants us to stay in the same village or look for a new place. Pray that the Lord leads us in making the right decision." Remarkably, Lavee said this. "I believe that the people who plan to kill or harm us for any reason can open their hearts to see God's mercy and love, if we pray for them. So, please pray for them." Lavee is living the message of Mathhew 5:44 where Jesus said, "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Iran's ballistic missiles hit Israeli hospital Iran fired a barrage of some 30 ballistic missiles early Thursday, scoring a direct hit on Israel's main southern hospital, the Soroka Medical Center, reports the Times of Israel. Sam Mednick, a reporter with the Associated Press, brings us this report from the scene. MEDNICK: “The hospital was hit by a missile from Iran early Thursday morning. The top of the building is basically blown off, and you can still see smoke smoldering from the side of it hours later. “This is a major hit from Iran on in a major city on a big hospital, and one of the most significant hits since this conflict began.” The Magen David Adom emergency service said that a man, age 80, and two women, both in their 70s, were among six people seriously hurt. Two people were moderately injured, and at least 42 others suffered light injuries from shock waves and shrapnel at the various impact sites. In addition, 18 people were lightly injured as they scrambled to bomb shelters when sirens went off. The barrage was the latest from Iran as it bombards Israel with ballistic missiles. Israel began attacking Iranian nuclear and military sites last week, citing the immediate existential threat they pose. New York Catholic diocese to pay $150 million to 891 sex abuse victims The Roman Catholic Church in Buffalo, New York is set to pay $150 million to victims of sexual abuse that occurred at the hands of Catholic priests, reports The Catholic Review. Gary Aldridge, a survivor of Catholic clergy sexual abuse, said this. ALDRIDGE: “Being a child and being sexual abused from the ages of 7 to 11, it affects you for your whole life.” Specifically, parishes will pay $80 million into the diocese's $150 million bankruptcy settlement, with the funds due to be paid into a trust by July 15. The bankruptcy settlement, agreed to in principle on April 22, will resolve the five-year-long proceedings, which began in 2020. Joe Martone, the Catholic communications director of the diocese, explained that the money would compensate victims in “approximately 891 cases” — making for “one of the highest caseloads in the country.” Martone added, “There's just a lot of anger toward the church about our past sins, and we could never apologize enough for what went on. We're just trying to take care of this now and trying to move beyond bankruptcy and get settlement for these people. Not that it provides closure for them, but at least (they) get some recompense.” All of the claims had been brought under the Child Victims Act, which was passed by the New York Senate and signed into law in 2019. Indeed, the Child Victims Act extended the state's former statute of limitations by granting a one-year look back for time-barred civil claims to be revived, giving survivors until age 28 to press charges for felonies and age 25 for misdemeanors, and allowing survivors up to age 55 to bring lawsuits. Since 2002 — the year in which the U.S. Catholic bishops adopted their “Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People” — the nation's Catholic dioceses have paid at least $5.6 billion in abuse settlements and related costs. Luke 8:17 says, “For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.” Texas is first state to build pro-life statue On Tuesday, Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott signed a resolution to build the Texas Life Monument, a statue honoring mothers and the their unborn children, reports The Daily Signal. Abbott's signature made Texas the first state to approve of a pro-life statue honoring mother and child on Capitol grounds. GOP State Rep. Caroline Davila, co-author of the resolution, said, “The eight-foot bronze sculpture is modeled after the National Life Monument, which depicts a mother with her child in her womb—a powerful image honoring motherhood and the miracle of life.” SpaceX rocket explodes in new setback to Elon Musk's Mars project One of Elon Musk's SpaceX Starships has exploded during a routine test in Texas in the latest setback to the billionaire's dream of turning humanity into an interplanetary species, reports The Guardian. The Starship 36 underwent “catastrophic failure and exploded” at the Starbase launch facility shortly after 11pm on Wednesday. A video showed the fiery explosion of the megarocket. Worldview listener in Kansas says her 7 kids love it I invited Worldview listeners to share what they enjoy about the newscast in 2-6 sentences by email. You can share your thoughts — along with your full name, city and state — and send it to adam@TheWorldview.com Katie Link in Hutchinson, Kansas, said, “Hi Adam, my seven children -- Emily, Lizzie, Levi, Evie, Esther, Caleb, and Eowyn -- and I love listening to your podcast over lunch. I asked the children why they love and want to support The Worldview and they gave me many great reasons. “We love that you use the Bible as proof text and that you share international stories of missionaries as well as local news. We also appreciate the happy stories and the calls to action with specific steps. And all of us, including the 1 and 2-year-old, love to loudly proclaim ‘Seize the day for Jesus Christ!'” 5 Worldview listeners gave $584.30 to fund our annual budget And finally, toward our $92,625 goal by 12 midnight tonight Central Time, Friday, June 20th to fund three-quarters of The Worldview newscast's annual budget for our 6-member team, 5 listeners stepped up to the plate. We are grateful to God for Quinn in Mhlambanyatsi, Eswatini, Africa who gave $30 as well as Ronnie in Milano, Texas and Mike and Ginger in Jonesville, Virgina – both of whom gave $100. And we appreciate the generosity of Tom and Jenn in Palmdale, California who gave $154.30 and Rick and Barb in Arlington, Washington who gave $200. Those 5 Worldview listeners gave a total of $584.30. Ready for our new grand total? Drum roll please. (Drum roll sound effect) $48,330 (People clapping and cheering sound effect) Toward tonight's goal of $92,625, we need to raise $44,295. Will 56 Worldview listeners give $45,000 TODAY? Let me make an editorial comment about the sacrificial gift of Quinn, our brother in Christ from Eswatini, Africa – formerly known as Swaziland. I looked up the average annual salary for someone in Eswatini. What's your guess? How much do you think they make in an entire year? The answer is just $2,974. The average American makes $63,795 per year. In other words, Quinn's gift of $30 is the equivalent of an American giving $643. Wow! That puts Quinn's gift in proper perspective. I just finished reading the late Ann Kiemel's 1976 book entitled I Love the Word Impossible. She had a disarmingly gentle way of talking with absolute strangers about the love of God which prompted many to profess faith in Christ, and inspired hundreds of thousands who heard her speak in person. Her 17 books sold 28 million copies. On page 144, she wrote, “I love the word ‘impossible.' It's one of my favorites because I have a giant of a God inside of me.” KIEMEL: “I come to tell you, I am just one young woman in the world. But I am one. And one plus a giant of a God can do anything!” In the 10 years, I've been voicing this Christian newscast, we have never been further behind in our annual appeal. To man, raising $44,295 in one day seems absolutely impossible. But, you know what? Like Ann Kiemel, I, too, love the word “impossible” because I have a giant of a God inside of me. Listen, if just 37 Worldview listeners pledged the approximate equivalent of what Quinn did from Africa and committed to give $50/month for 12 months for a gift of $600, God will have raised $22,200. And if another 19 of you pledged $100/month for 12 months for a gift of $1,200, God will have raised another $22,800. That adds up to $45,000. That would get us across the finish line to cover three-quarters of our annual budget for the 6-member newscast team by tonight, June 20th at 12 midnight Central. These days, $50 is the cost of buying a family of four a combo meal at Chick-fil-A. Can you go without Chick-fil-A once a month to help fund this newscast for an entire year? We've never raised $45,000 in one day. Never! But, with God, all things are possible. If you feel the Lord prompting you to be one of the 56 donors to pledge either $50/month for 12 months or $100/month for 12 months, go to TheWorldview.com and click on Give on the top right. There were 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence. We're coming up on the July 4th 249th anniversary of that moment. We need 56 Worldview donors to step up today. Especially if you've never given to this ministry before. This is the day we need your help. Who is getting fired up about making a sacrifice? It will ensure we can continue telling the truth about the news from a Biblical perspective -- complete with compelling soundbites, relevant Bible verses, and empowering action steps. Without a doubt, this is a one-of-a-kind Christian newscast. Will you back us today? Just 56 of you? I am truly excited to return to the airwaves on Monday, June 23rd to report back to you about how God touched the hearts of at least 56 faithful listeners. Close And that's The Worldview on this Friday, June 20th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Plus, you can get the Generations app through Google Play or The App Store. I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com). Seize the day for Jesus Christ.

For this episode of the Data Center Frontier Show podcast, DCF Editor-in-Chief Matt Vincent and Senior Editor David Chernicoff sat down with Tony Grayson, President and General Manager of Northstar Technology Group's Enterprise and Defense unit, to unpack a strategic acquisition that's shaking up the edge and modular data center space. The conversation centered on Northstar's acquisition of Compass Quantum, a company known for its rapidly deployable, composite-based modular infrastructure tailored for both enterprise and defense applications. From Compass to Northstar: A Strategic Realignment “We were developing a modular brand at Compass,” said Grayson. “Where Compass was building the gigawatt-scale campuses, I was building the smaller campuses using building blocks of modules—versus, you know, kind of a stick build.” That smaller-scale focus gained traction with enterprise clients, including several Fortune 50 companies, but new opportunities in the defense sector introduced regulatory friction. “Compass is Canadian-owned, and that goes against some of the rules that the U.S. government has,” Grayson explained. “Chris Crosby was a huge supporter… he wanted to sell us so he wouldn't hinder us from growing the company or servicing U.S. defense needs.” Enter Northstar Technology Group, which brings a strategic partnership with Owens Corning—the manufacturer and IP holder behind Compass Quantum's composite materials. With engineering, manufacturing, and construction capabilities now integrated under one roof, Grayson sees the acquisition as a natural fit. “Everything is now in-house instead of trying to go outside to other consultants,” he said. AI-Ready Modulars in 5MW Increments As hyperscale demands evolve, Grayson noted growing customer appetite for 5 megawatt modular units—mirroring the scale at which Nvidia and others are now building AI infrastructure. “You've seen Wade Vinson talk about it at Data Center World, and you see Jensen [Huang] talking about 5 megawatts being the line where you cross between the L2 and L3 network,” he said. “We can build in 5 megawatt increments and drop that stuff in parking lots—either as an operating lease or as a sale.” That flexibility extends to Northstar's channel partners, who are increasingly seeking a variety of procurement models. “Some want sales, not just leases. It gives us more freedom to do that kind of stuff,” said Grayson. “Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, and I feel like the timing of this couldn't have been better for where the industry's at right now.” Veteran-Led Advisory Team Strengthens Defense Strategy In addition to the materials and platform innovations, Northstar's defense ambitions are underpinned by what Grayson describes as a “dream team” of senior military advisors. “We basically have every outgoing ‘six'—the people in charge of IT and comms for the Air Force, Marine Corps, Army, and Navy—as advisors,” he said. “Some will be coming on full time.” These high-level advisors, many of whom retired as three-star generals, are instrumental in helping Northstar align its solutions with evolving defense requirements, particularly in distributed compute and real-time data processing. “We're making huge progress on the enterprise side, but the defense side is where we need to catch up,” Grayson added. “Defense globally needs distributed compute… they're ahead of enterprise when it comes to inference platforms.” He also highlighted Northstar's engagement with the Navy, particularly around airborne systems. “That's why we have the old air boss, Admiral Weitzel. He helps us with aircraft systems. These planes generate so much data, and we need advice on how best to internalize and analyze it.” Material Advantage: Why FRP Composites Are a Game-Changer: Durability, Customization—and No Tariffs A key differentiator for Northstar's modular approach is its use of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites instead of traditional steel or concrete enclosures. As Grayson explained, “There's no tariffs involved in any of this stuff. It's all locally sourced and rather easy to get from Owens Corning.” This material advantage extends far beyond sourcing. FRP composites allow Northstar to customize modules for specific use cases, including: Fire resistance: Two-hour fire ratings. Extreme weather: Withstanding 250 mph winds—Category 5 hurricanes and F5 tornadoes. Military resilience: Ballistic protection up to 7.62mm and .50 caliber rounds. And despite their strength, these modules are extremely lightweight—“30% lighter than aluminum,” said Grayson. “I don't know if you've ever seen the picture of me holding the 15-foot I-beam. I'm a sub guy, not Army tough. I definitely couldn't hold that up if it were steel.”

This podcast is a must listen for the archery community. I'm speaking with James Yates who is an Engineer, Backcountry Outdoorsman, Technical Writer, Husband/Father and Accomplished Hunter. James is fascinated with archery accuracy and forgiveness and finding non bias information that will help those who need it in the archery community. James just conducted a great arrow test in conjunction with Precision Cut Archery & Easton Archery collecting data of several aspects of arrow flight. In particular, to study how an arrow's components (vanes, shaft diameter, shaft length, point tip type, etc.) affect ballistic properties such as aerodynamic drag and restorative lift (how an out-of-tune arrow corrects itself), and therefore, how an arrow build can be optimized for specific purposes, such as hunting different species (with different broadheads) and various target archery events. What I appreciated about this test is that Easton has revealed their bullet proof shooting machine for the first time publicly giving the consumers to archery a deeper look at what testing methods are usually happening behind the scenes. James and the team were at the Easton Foundation Center documenting evidence of different aspects of arrow flight, cause and affects, downrange ballistics, pairing vanes & broadheads. This podcast tees up the information that will later be released for all to see.

What if injuries aren't inevitable, but predictable events with upstream warning signs we can actually address? Henry Abbott, award-winning journalist and founder of True Hoop, joins us to discuss his groundbreaking book "Ballistic: The New Science of Injury-Free Athletic Performance" that challenges everything we thought we knew about athletic durability.Abbott shares fascinating insights from his research at P3 (Peak Performance Project), where cutting-edge biomechanics analysis is revolutionizing how athletes train. Most surprisingly, he reveals how mental limitations often precede physical ones. Through a remarkable personal anecdote about holding his breath for over four minutes after minimal instruction, Abbott demonstrates how our brains frequently create barriers our bodies haven't actually reached. For runners specifically, Abbott provides practical wisdom on proper landing mechanics, identifying injury risk factors, and strengthening the often-neglected muscles beneath the knee that create efficient "bouncy" movement. Rather than obsessing over form while running, he suggests building capability through targeted training, then allowing your body to naturally implement improvements. In the Race Report Spotlight, we hear from 11 runners across four countries who completed the London Marathon. They share their experiences with punishing heat and incredible crowd support. They also describe the emotional highs of crossing Tower Bridge and finishing near Buckingham Palace. Their stories capture both the challenge and the magic of completing a World Major Marathon. Whether you're battling recurring injuries, seeking performance improvements, or simply wanting to run with less pain, this episode offers invaluable insights that might just transform your relationship with running. I'm pleased to welcome Henry Abbott, the author of a new book called Ballistic: The New Science of Injury Free Athletic Performance! What an interesting conversation we had, and we went on a wide ranging journey through several topics of interest in modern big time sports. Henry has a longtime sports background–he is an award-winning journalist who led ESPN’s 60 person NBA digital and print team. So he is a longtime NBA guy behind the scenes, and in this episode, he tells us what it's like out there, touching on concerns like this crazy long 82 game season where we expect these powerful, explosive athletes to perform night after night—this kind of turns the sport into a severe long endurance grind where you can pretty much predict the athletes are going to get injured. So Henry went on a three year long quest to determine what cutting edge scientific advancements we have to measure and program athletes to train properly to prevent injury. The title Ballistic is interesting because he focuses on the importance of ballistic high impact training, which we typically shy away from, thinking that it's too traumatizing. I really appreciated this because you've probably heard me on the show talk often about my nagging minor injuries that are always a battle and a challenge as I strive to compete in masters track and field. So you're going to get some good tidbits and also learn what the top of the line athletes are doing—he references his connection to this training facility in Santa Barbara, California called P3, it's operated by an old triathlon friend of mine named Dr. Marcus Elliott, and he is doing some really interesting data collection and analysis. You will learn why Henry says that almost everyone has some sort of hip dysfunction, whether it's hip flexor weakness or a lack of mobility, and ways that you can progress to become more functional, especially in the three most important joints that control impact forces—the ankle, knee, and the hip. Enjoy this fun and wide ranging talk with Henry Abbott, and I highly recommend you read his book Ballistic, the New Science of Injury, Free Athletic Performance, which reveals a surprising takeaway: The explosive moves and ground impacts we often avoid in everyday workouts might provide the secret to an injury-free athletic life. TIMESTAMPS: The three most important joints that control impact forces are the ankle, knee and the hip. So how do we best take care of them? [03:01] The popularity of Track and Field is still struggling in comparison to other major sports. [05:00] What is it like to cover the NBA? What about the players being prone to injury? [08:09] Eighty-two games are too much for the players. Humans can't do more than five max effort workouts every two weeks before their performance declines and injuries skyrocket. [10:43] Are the players, trainers and coaches doing their best to prevent injuries? What is P3 in Santa Barbara? [12:12] In the book, Ballistic, Henry explains about the force at the moment of landing. [16:42] One of the most dangerous foot positions that a player can encounter is a toes-down landing. [20:11] We want the lower body to be loose, mobile, and flexible but we also want some areas stiff. How does it all come together? [25:01] Injuries occur when you come back down to earth, not by jumping up. It's the impact of landing. [28:17] You need to learn how to jump properly to prevent injury. [31:55] The WHO says immobility is the fourth leading cause of a global death. [35:23] Every athlete needs help with their hips. [36:17] Henry talks about dirty money and sports. There can be an adverse influence on sports. [43:09] What really makes a champion athlete is the work ethic, resilience, family-oriented, well-blanced lifestyle. [51:18] Is there any financial incentive in modern day NBA players to continue since they get so money? [56:31] Henry's book Ballistic talks about caring for your body...paying attention to it to prevent injuries, but also use your body to have fun. ESCALATION: Israel Vows to Strike Iran after Ballistic Missile Hits Tel Aviv Airport BREAKING: BALLISTIC MISSILE Hits Ben Gurion Airport | Israel Vows to STRIKE Iran
China is conducting what a top US military officer called a breathtaking expansion and modernization of its nuclear and conventional forces. An October 2024 Defense Intelligence Agency report estimated that by 2030, “China will have more than 1,000 operational nuclear warheads, most of which will be fielded on systems capable of ranging the continental United States.”Meanwhile, Russia maintains the largest foreign nuclear stockpile in the world and is actively modernizing its arsenal to be able to circumvent US missile defenses.North Korea and Iran have been busy improving their ballistic missile inventories, as the latter continues inching closer to a nuclear weapons capability. How can the United States deter these growing threats and protect American lives?
@1QLeadership Question: Are athlete injuries predictable? Henry Abbott, Founder of TrueHoop, discusses his new book "Ballistic" which follows the story of Dr. Marcus Elliott and the Peak Performance Project (P3). Abbott talks about how Dr. Elliott's research is being used by NBA athletes to prevent injury. Similar to the way biomarkers are used to inform of possible cardiac emergencies, P3 has developed a way to process data about body movement that can detect an impending athlete injury. Abbott also goes into the importance of storytelling and its impact on the world of sports. - One Question Leadership Podcast - Tai M. Brown
