In this week's edition of the 23 Podcast, Fr. Jeff and Parker have a short Easter Sunday debrief, before discussing their collective excitement of the upcoming Confirmation Mass, which will be celebrated for SJ23 students this weekend, and Parker's “sleeper saint” he chose when he was confirmed way back when. This, of course, leads to a wormhole of nonsense, where Parker actually finds a brewery named after his Confirmation Saint, which prompts him to encourage Fr. Jeff to conduct a live recording of the 23 Podcast at this brewery on-location. If that alone doesn't interest you, this weekend's Gospel for Divine Mercy Sunday is also read and unpacked, as well as a look at upcoming Parish events. Listen now for 23 minutes of fun and faith!

We're back! Ministry Monday returns after a summer haitus with new episodes! We've prepared a fall season of great episodes with topics on, of course, music, ministry, and liturgy. This week Dr. Dan Girardot (Associate Director of the Office of Worship of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston) discusses the practical, prayerful, and other musical considerations for cantors ministering in larger-than-normal Masses. Whether it's Christmas Eve, a large funeral or wedding, or a Confirmation Mass, Dan reflects on the changes cantors can anticipate and best serve the liturgy (and its faithful) at hand.

The Risen Jesus Gives Us His Forgiveness & Healing & Blesses Us With The Gifts Of The Holy Spirit
We celebrated our Confirmation Mass this weekend, with 72 youth and adults receiving the sacrament on Saturday morning. Fr. Dave invited Chris Storm, our Director of Religious Education, to talk about confirmation and what it means for each of us. Chris answers the question he poses - if you had to choose, Christ or Chicken Wings? - with the point that it isn't either/or; we don't have to make a choice. This is not where we are Church - this is where we come because we are Church out there. We gather here to become Church when we go out for chicken wings, or to the river, or to a movie. Don't take for granted what a beautiful thing it is to be Church together.

A daily news briefing from Catholic News Agency, powered by artificial intelligence. Ask your smart speaker to play “Catholic News,” or listen every morning wherever you get podcasts. www.catholicnewsagency.com - Pope Francis offered prayers and condolences to all affected by a deadly condominium building collapse in Florida last week. Early on Thursday morning, a 12-story beachfront condo partially collapsed. As of Monday, nine people have been officially declared dead, and 152 are still unaccounted for. An explosion inside a Catholic church in the Democratic Republic of Congo has left at least two people “seriously injured.” The explosion took place early in the morning on Sunday. A homemade bomb was placed in the first row after the altar. It is believed the bomb was meant to target crowds gathered for a Confirmation Mass later that day. On Sunday, Pope Francis challenged Catholics to let Jesus see and heal their hearts. The pope said that intimacy with Christ is the path to inner healing. He said Catholics are also called to look at others with the gaze of Christ, a gaze the pope described as non-judgmental, but welcoming. The pope made his comments in his Angelus address. Today, the Roman Catholic Church celebrates the feast of Saint Irenaeus of Lyons. The second-century bishop and writer is best known for defending Christian orthodoxy against the set of heresies known as Gnosticism. Eastern Catholics celebrate his feast in August.

We’re back with all new episodes, and this week Bishop discusses a recent survey that revealed some shocking statistics about how many Catholics believe in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist….then it’s on to the upcoming bi-lingual confirmation mass for youth with disabilities, a conversation about relics, and then….listener-submitted questions on topics including Marian apparitions and much more. • As Catholics, we are not required to believe in Marian apparitions; however, in apparitions such as Fatima she not only requires us to believe but also take action. How can the Church not require something that Mary clearly requires? • Does the Catholic Church teach or believe that a baptized practicing Catholic living a sacramental life in the state of grace can be possessed by demons or the devil? • My grandmother recently passed away, and my grandfather says he feels her presence. As Catholics, do we believe that those who die are still able to interact with us or be present to us in a way? Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. • If Communion is supposed to be carried in a container that is just precious metals, why does the pyx have a plastic insert? • What was your first car? ------ Truth in Charity is brought to you in part by Notre Dame Federal Credit Union. ------ Live: www.redeemerradio.com Follow us on social media: www.Facebook.com/RedeemerRadio www.Twitter.com/RedeemerRadio www.Instagram.com/Instagram Submit your question(s): Call / Text (Holy Cross College text line) - 260-436-9598 Online - www.RedeemerRadio.com/AskBishop E-mail - AskBishop@RedeemerRadio.com Subscribe to the Podcast: iTunes | Google Play | SoundCloud | RSS
