We are once again joined by investigator Philip Mantle to dive back into the Pascagoula Abduction with Part 2 of our series, peeling back layers of a story that stretches far beyond one night in 1973. While skeptics cite a silent bridgetender, fresh eyewitness accounts —from shipyard workers to families at home — suggest something far stranger was unfolding. In this episode, we uncover a decades-hidden encounter from Jerry and Maria Blair, whose experiences may rival the original tale, and explore newly revealed evidence, buried memories, and the unsettling question: what did these beings really want? Visit our website for a lot more information on this episode.
In October 1973, as the Vietnam War waned and Watergate filled headlines, two friends in Pascagoula, Mississippi—Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker—had an encounter that would shake them for life and baffle the world. While fishing after work, they claimed to be abducted by strange beings from a hovering craft, describing elephant-skinned entities with claw-like hands, and examined aboard the vessel. Though skeptics dismissed it as a hoax or hallucination, the Pascagoula Abduction remains one of the most compelling and hotly debated UFO cases. In this first installment of our two-part series, we delve into the initial reports, physical evidence, and lasting impact of the incident, joined by returning guest Philip Mantle — UFO researcher, close friend of Calvin Parker, and co-writer of the Amazon Prime docuseries Pascagoula '73 — who calls it the best documented case of its kind. And with new eyewitnesses continuing to emerge, you might find yourself agreeing. Visit our website for a lot more information on this episode.

In his lastest book, Pascagoula Uncovered, Philip Mantle brings together a ream of newly published material in regards to one of the most striking alleged abduction cases of the late 20th century. The whole book is almost like a look back through time to see what happened that night in Pascagoula and how the events unfolded thereafter. And in a stunning revelation Calvin Parker recounts a previously unknown encounter from 1992 which is published here for the first time. Along with Darcy Weir's new documentary series, Pascagoula 73, available on Prime we can see just how many reports and witnesses there really are to this event! Philip has also kindly allowed me to share Calvin's regressive hypnosis session recorded with the legendary Bud Hopkins from 1993, which is unnerving to say the least. NFL Official Sarah Thomas, who worked Super Bowl LV and has been in the league for a decade, visits with Says Who Sports to share her thoughts on a variety of topics, including the Philadelphia Eagles blowout of the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Thomas says that, aside from Super Bowl-specific preparation, NFL game officials prepare for battle year-round, including multiple offseason clinics and constant rules/situational testing by the league. Thomas details the hectic atmosphere of her Down Judge positioning along the line of scrimmage during a game, including the requisite ability for unwavering focus and execution on every play. Thomas, a former college athlete, recalls her disdain for game officials as a player, and discusses the newfound understanding and respect she gained for the job after attending her first-ever officials meeting at the local amateur sports level in her native Pascagoula, Mississippi. The meeting fueled her interest in officiating and launched a career that has now spanned three decades, including many years as an official in D1 college football in Conference USA and being selected to work multiple bowl games and Senior Bowls. She has worked numerous high-profile NFL contests including Monday Night Football, multiple playoff games and Super Bowl LV between the Chiefs and Buccaneers. Thomas talks about the excitement of receiving word from legendary NFL official Wayne Mackie that she'd earned the honor of officiating in Super Bowl LV, and the emotion of sharing the news with her parents.Thomas also discusses the inspirational impact made on her by Jill Upton, her aunt and the coach of the U.S. Women's Basketball team at the World University Games in Moscow in 1973 (the team included a young player named Pat Summitt). Upton encouraged Thomas, who loved playing basketball, to try out for the fifth-grade boys basketball team because there was no girls' team at the time. Thomas made the squad. She went on to play college basketball at the University of Mobile.Thomas has blazed an inspirational trail en route to becoming an official at the highest level of professional sports, and discusses the strong foundation of faith, work ethic and accountability (no excuses) instilled in her and her siblings by her parents. Plus, much more!
In the first half, history professor and author William R. Forstchen spoke about preparedness, hardening the energy grid, and what we can learn from recent disasters, including the flood in North Carolina and the LA fires. Recounting his harrowing experiences in North Carolina during Hurricane Helene, he said there was major devastation, such as in the town of Swannanoa, which was "totally wiped out." Though he was without power for three weeks, he noted that that would be "nothing compared to what could happen if there's an EMP attack." Elaborating on the dangers of electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attacks, he explained that they can be triggered by a nuclear detonation or a solar flare. An EMP would blow everything out within a second, affecting everything from high-tension power lines to aircraft in flight. He pointed out the alarming fact that many components of the US electrical grid are over 40 years old and in desperate need of modernization and strengthening. We have become so dependent on electricity, what happens when it no longer works? He urged listeners to consider their emergency preparedness, particularly regarding food and medication supplies. He expressed frustration over the lack of preparedness despite significant investments in green energy, arguing that the government spent billions, but the money should have gone into developing infrastructure. He is hopeful that the new presidential administration, along with local representatives, will turn their attention to protecting our electrical grid. On his property, Forstchen said he had a number of tall pine trees removed near his house that was luckily completed before the hurricane.------------In the latter half, author Marc Hartzman shared accounts of the weird and unusual, as well as presented his research on the fascinating practice of sword swallowing, documented in his new book "To the Hilt," co-written with sword swallower Dan Meyer. The project began seven years ago when Meyer, who has been swallowing swords for 25 years, approached Hartzman with a wealth of historical information about the art. Meyer's motivation to become a sword swallower stemmed from overcoming childhood bullying. The practice is absolutely genuine with rigorous training involved, and sword swallowers must master techniques to suppress their gag reflex and navigate the esophagus safely, Hartzman explained. He also recounted tragic historical incidents, including the story of Maud D'Auldin, who died after a blade nicked her esophagus during a performance. Among the strange stories he presented was that of Jim the Wonder Dog, an extraordinary "psychic" canine who could identify various tree species and even predict Kentucky Derby winners by selecting them with his paw. Hartzman detailed the chilling tale of the Phantom Barber of Pascagoula, who infamously cut the hair of young girls during World War II. "Parents were locking their windows at night, terrified of this hair-cutting intruder," he said. Additionally, Hartzman touched on the history of Ouija boards, noting their rise in popularity during the spiritualism movement of the late 1800s. He recalled a disturbing incident where a mother allegedly instructed her daughter to shoot her father after consulting a Ouija board. The daughter reportedly did so, though the father survived the shooting.

Gene and cohost Tim Swartz feature filmmaker Darcy Weir. He's on a mission to bring the world's most captivating mysteries —UFOs, Cryptids, and beyond into the spotlight. Over the past two decades, he has crafted over 15 feature-length documentaries, making these enigmatic topics more accessible and shedding new light on them for the general public. Weir's eye-opening series "Pascagoula 73" explores the shocking UFO abduction in 1973 Pascagoula of Charles Hickson, Calvin Parker, Maria and Jerry Blair. A gripping tale of alien encounters, fear, and resilience that changed their lives. A true story blending mystery and humanity, in this documentary series. Our second guest is Dr. Irena Scott, whose work experience includes the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), which employed her in Ph.D. level (GS-11) research in satellite photography, including its Air Order of Battle section. Dr. Scott served on the MUFON Board of Directors (1993 to 2000) and is a MUFON consultant in physiology and astronomy as well as a field investigator. She was a volunteer astronomer at the Ohio State University Radio Observatory “Big Ear” (noted for the WOW SETI signal that might be humanity's only signal from ETs). We expend vast resources for this. Strangely, this does not seem strange. We look to several sources for understanding our past, which gives us clues about solving today's problems, and the supernatural because it also is associated with our creation. Today supernatural communication, such as UAP, has increased so dramatically that even the US government has noticed and others discuss religious figures as ancient astronauts. To discuss these ideas in her new book, along with some updates in regards to the Pascagoula case of 1973 and the ongoing drone mystery, Dr Irena Scott returns to join me! 1973 was a great year for fans of high-strangeness UFO reports. The most famous of these is the October 11th case from Pascagoula, Mississippi, where Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker said they were taken aboard a craft by elephant-skinned humanoids with crab-claw like hands. After their story hit the papers, an article appeared in the October 18, 1973, edition of The Pensacola News ( part 1, part 2 ) headlined “Pickup by UFO Reported.” According to the article, a “Pensacola businessman” (later identified as an electrician) reported an encounter of his own, and his story was even more dramatic than Hickson and Parker's. UFO investigators at the time seem to have mostly ignored it, as it doesn't appear in periodicals of the day such as The APRO Bulletin or Flying Saucer Review. This might have been due to the continued focus on the Pascagoula case and the extreme nature of the claim by the man in Pensacola. Join America's Roundtable (https://americasrt.com/) radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with Troy Miller, President & CEO of National Religious Broadcasters (NRB). This was a special 2024 election program titled "America at a Crossroads." The timely conversation with Troy Miller on America's Roundtable focuses on the significance for Christians to vote in US elections in preserving freedom of speech and religious freedom. The conversation brings to the forefront the court case against the "Johnson Amendment", and the crucial role of the faith community in engaging in key public policy issues impacting families and their local communities. A recent study released by Arizona Christian University, led by Dr. George Barna, indicates that 32 million regular Christian church attenders are unlikely to vote this election. While this major voting block upholds Judeo-Christian values and principles, the study reveals apathy among Christian voters could be a "gamechanger" this election, according to Barna. Mr. Miller also shares about his recent visit to Israel and the tragedy of the Iran-backed Hamas terrorist group murdering 1200 individuals and taking 250 hostages on October 7, 2023. Miller speaks about the importance of the faith community in combating anti-Semitism and presents moral clarity in standing with Israel and the Jewish community in the West. Miller is a senior executive with more than 30 years of management and business experience. He has served as the interim CEO of NRB since March 2019, assuming leadership during a time of financial crisis. Under Miller's leadership, the association has recaptured a strong financial position, grown its membership and significantly enhanced programming, networking, equipping, sponsorship, and exhibition aspects of the annual NRB International Christian Media Convention. Miller is also currently President & CEO of NRBTV where he has served since June 2005. He served with distinction in the US Navy from 1983-1988, including time assigned to the Naval Engineering Command at Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS. Miller was part of the commissioning crew of USS Bunker Hill. He worked for personal computer Gateway, Inc. for ten years and was involved in leading several business startups, including Gateway's expansion into Europe and Asia, new manufacturing facilities, and global information technology application strategy. He served as the executive vice president and chief operating officer for D. James Kennedy Ministries. Miller has spoken at seminars on strategic business planning, information technology integration, organizational development, and Christian apologetics, as well as training pastors in the Far East. americasrt.com (https://americasrt.com/) https://ileaderssummit.org/ | https://jerusalemleaderssummit.com/ America's Roundtable on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/americas-roundtable/id1518878472 Twitter: @NRBCEO @ileaderssummit @NatashaSrdoc @JoelAnandUSA @supertalk America's Roundtable is co-hosted by Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy, co-founders of International Leaders Summit and the Jerusalem Leaders Summit. Explore how sightings of UFOs and aliens seized the world's attention and discover what the fascination with flying saucers and extraterrestrial visitors says about our changing views on science, technology, and the paranormal. In the summer of 1947, a private pilot flying over the state of Washington saw what he described as several pie pan-shaped aircraft traveling in formation at remarkably high speed. Within days, journalists began referring to the objects as "flying saucers." Over the course of that summer, Americans reported seeing them in the skies overhead. News quickly spread, and within a few years, flying saucers were being spotted across the world. The question on everyone's mind was, what were they? Some new super weapon in the Cold War? Strange weather patterns? Optical illusions? Or perhaps it was all a case of mass hysteria? Some, however, concluded they could only be one thing: spacecrafts built and piloted by extraterrestrials. The age of the unidentified flying object, the UFO, had arrived. Greg Eghigian tells the story of the world's fascination with UFOs and the prospect that they were the work of visitors from outer space. While accounts of great wonders in the sky date back to antiquity, reports of UFOs took place against the unique backdrop of the Cold War and space age, giving rise to disputed government inquiries, breathtaking news stories, and single-minded sleuths. After the Flying Saucers Came: A Global History of the UFO Phenomenon (Oxford UP, 2024) traces how a seemingly isolated incident sparked an international drama involving shady figures, questionable evidence, suspicions of conspiracy, hoaxes, new religions, scandals, unsettling alien encounters, debunkers, and celebrities. It examines how descriptions, theories, and debates about unidentified flying objects and alien abduction changed over time and how they appeared in the United States, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Russia. And it explores the impact UFOs have had on our understanding of space, science, technology, and ourselves up through the present day. Replete with stories of the people who have made up the ufology community, the military and defense units that investigate them, the scientists and psychologists who have researched these unexplained encounters, and the many novels, movies, TV shows, and websites that have explored these phenomena, After the Flying Saucers Came speaks to believers and skeptics alike. On a quiet October night in 1973, two friends were fishing in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Their lives changed forever when a strange craft appeared. Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker's terrifying experience became one of the most compelling UFO cases in history. What happened during those missing 20 minutes? Why did these men insist they were telling the truth for decades? But there's more to this story than just one night. There are many similar encounters and many possible explanations, both natural and supernatural. Whether the story is true or not, one thing is for sure: It was a nightmare.
