“When you hear ‘Yacht Rock,' what's the first band or musician that comes to mind?”That's how JB and Sandy kick off this episode, sparking a nostalgic and hilarious debate about the music that defined a generation—and the labels artists love to hate. From Christopher Cross to Steely Dan, the crew dives deep into the world of smooth tunes, local legends, and the quirky history of Austin's music scene. But the episode doesn't stop at music. JB and Sandy, joined by Tricia, take listeners on a whirlwind tour of Austin's weirdest news, including the story of a Travis County correctional officer arrested for smuggling… chicken wings! The team can't help but laugh at the absurdity, pondering whether the real crime is not paying officers enough or just having a side hustle as a “wing smuggler.”Other highlights include:Zilker Park's post-ACL transformation: How Austin City Limits Festival gives back to the city and why disc golf fans feel left out.The rise of magicians at adult birthday parties: JB and Sandy explore the trend, share personal stories, and even search for Austin's best magicians for hire—including the unforgettable “Peter the Adequate Magician.”Clown sightings in Austin: From Balloonatik to Doodle Bug, discover the strange world of professional clowns living in Barton Springs and the surreal experience of seeing them drive by on a Saturday morning.Family, nostalgia, and music: Touching memories of Nat King Cole Christmas albums, Bee Gees hits, and the magic of Elvis duets.Notable Quotes:“Guys, the longer you're married, the unfunnier you become.”“He was suspended without pay. He has since been fired and has been arrested for chicken wings.”“Four clowns living around you, it's like you're in a nightmare.”Guest Insights:Tricia brings her signature humor and local perspective, while JB and Sandy's chemistry keeps the conversation lively, unpredictable, and always entertaining. “Is your wife setting up playdates for you? If so… it might be time to reclaim your manhood.” In this bold and hilarious episode of The JB and Sandy Show, the crew dives into the trending term “man-keeping”—a phenomenon where women take on the emotional and social labor for the men in their lives. From organizing their friendships to coaching them through feelings, Tricia, JB, and Sandy unpack why this dynamic is exhausting for women and unattractive to boot. Sandy shares his “bottle it up and blow once a year” emotional strategy, while JB reflects on the importance of guy time and self-sufficiency. The conversation turns to masculinity, DIY skills, and why YouTube tutorials and Home Depot wisdom are essential tools for modern men. Then, the show shifts gears to Austin's evolving urban landscape, including permanent barriers on 6th Street and “living streets” designed for pedestrians. The crew debates aesthetics, safety, and the impact on local businesses. Finally, it's all about football: Texas is ranked #1 in the preseason poll, and the season opener against Ohio State is already stirring nerves. Sandy offers unconventional self-defense tips for fans traveling to Columbus—including chicken wings as a distraction tactic.Key Moments:

Chicken wing with whey and relish
Chicken can sometimes get a bad rap but, fried, pan-seared, or smoked, it's a versatile meat that sops up flavor like a sponge. Here's where to find the tastiest broilers, fryers, and roasters in the metro, including crispy Korean fried chicken and succulent wings.
On this special episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is counting down all of his favorite (and least favorite) wing spots in Western New York, taking 97 spots and putting them into seven different tiers that includes his Mt. Rushmore for the year. He's joined by Tommy Seifert from the Buffalo Wing Coalition for his insight and opinions as well. This is the fourth consecutive year on the podcast Patrick's done a wings ranking and tiers show. A spreadsheet and power rankings nerd, Patrick's been writing reviews and placing wing spots into tiers for years. As always some of the picks are controversial and heavily disagreed on, which of course is primarily because it's a completely subjective process where's it's purely opinion and no right or wrong answer. Patrick highlights several of his most underrated and overrated picks, which is documented through seven tiers: Waiver Wire, Roster Bubble, Depth Chart, Solid Starters, All Pro, Elite and ultimately the Mt. Rushmore.Tommy has a lot of thoughts as well and discusses where he thinks Patrick got it right and wrong. The Buffalo Wing Coalition has been an amazing resource for people who love wings in the area and it continues to grow. They have their own pyramid of wings rankings, consistent reviews from places both popular and obscure and an incredibly resourceful list of wing specials by location, price and night that'll make going out for wings significantly cheaper. Make sure you check them out.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red'sat 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. We consider them THE most underrated spot for wings, pizza and other great food in Western New York plus it's a great place to drink and have a great time. Also big thanks to Imperial Pizzaand their two locations (1035 Abbott Road and 1655 Main Street), home of not only great pizza and tons of other delicious eats but also the best everyday lunch special in town.Special thanks to local Buffalo band, Orange Zestfor allowing us to use their awesome single, “Old Friends” as the new official intro music for Talking Buffalo.
