In Ephesians 6:14-18, Paul describes the 7 pieces of God's Armour of God, which He provides to us through His Word for our spiritual warfare. The Breastplate of Righteousness (Isa 59:16) is necessary for guarding the heart. To enter into spiritual warfare, it is vital our heart is under the protection of God's Righteousness (it is the Armour of God). It does not consist of our own righteousness, but the righteousness of Christ. In spiritual warfare, pride is fatal. Instead, we must submit to God and His righteousness, which He gives us by grace (Job 41:34, Luke 10:17-20, Jam 4:6-7), through the Great Exchange (2Cor 5:21). To put on His Breastplate of Righteousness so that it covers and protects our heart, we must submit to His righteousness (Rom 10:3, Phil 3:9). It is attached to the Belt, for it is God's Word which imparts the faith we need to trust in His gift of righteousness. It had 2 parts, a breast and back plate, which correspond to (1) the imputed righteousness of Christ, through which we were justified by faith (Rom 3:28,4:1-8, 5:1, 8:1, Gal 2:16), and (2) the imparted righteousness of Christ (His life and nature) through the Holy Spirit (Rom 5:5, 14:17, Gal 5:22-23, 1Cor 1:30). (1) Through FAITH in Christ and His finished work we are justified, declared forgiven and righteous in Christ. This protects the heart from satan's main weapon – condemnation (Rev 12:10-11, Isa 54:17). (2) The LOVE of Christ filling our souls with His love (Rom 8:4) protects our hearts from evil thoughts. We see these 2 parts of the Breastplate in 1Thess 5:8: “putting on the breastplate of (1) FAITH and (2) LOVE.” We see these 2 kinds of righteousness in: Romans 1:17: “For in the Gospel the righteousness of God is revealed from (1) justifying faith to (2) living faith; as it is written: “The just (by faith) shall live by faith.”

This morning, we continue our series in Hebrews 11, Living Forward to a Better Country, where the author of Hebrews calls us to faithful endurance through the portraits of ancient believers. Today, we look at the life of Samson, who starts as a strong man but is revealed to be weak and ends as a weak man who is stronger than ever. How? Through Faith. May we be encouraged to do likewise.

REVIVAL THROUGH ROMANS…IF YOU ARE SAVED, THROUGH FAITH, YOUR LIFE IS HIS STORY AND NOT YOUR STORY! THROUGH FAITH, ABRAHAM GAVE UP HIS STORY TO BE A PART OF GOD'S STORY. FAITH IS SAYING ‘AMEN' TO WHATEVER GOD WANTS! Romans 4:1-3 ESV What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh? [2] For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. [3] For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness." THROUGH FAITH, BEING A PART OF GOD'S STORY IS WAY BETTER THAN ANYTHING YOU COULD EVER BE A PART OF IN CREATING YOUR OWN STORY. UNRIGHTEOUSNESS IS REMOVED AND RIGHTEOUSNESS IS RECEIVED! Romans 4:4-8 ESV Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. [5] And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, [6] just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works: [7] "Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; [8] blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin." THROUGH FAITH, WHEN YOUR STORY BECOMES HIS STORY, YOU ARE BORN AGAIN INTO AN AWESOME, ETERNAL, AND UNIVERSAL FAMILY…WHEN YOU BELIEVE…YOU BELONG! Romans 4:9-12 ESV Is this blessing then only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised? For we say that faith was counted to Abraham as righteousness. [10] How then was it counted to him? Was it before or after he had been circumcised? It was not after, but before he was circumcised. [11] He received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. The purpose was to make him the father of all who believe without being circumcised, so that righteousness would be counted to them as well, [12] and to make him the father of the circumcised who are not merely circumcised but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised. FATHER ABRAHAM…HAD MANY KIDS…MANY KIDS HAD FATHER ABRAHAM…I AM ONE OF THEM…AND SO ARE YOU…SO LET'S JUST PRAISE THE LORD! IS THIS LIFE ABOUT YOU WRITING YOUR OWN STORY?…OR THROUGH FAITH…SAYING ‘AMEN' TO WHATEVER GOD WANTS AND BEING A PART OF HIS STORY?
Saturday is review day on The Daily Promise. Every Saturday, we review the promises of the week so we can allow them to go deep into our hearts and lives. Here are the promises we covered this week. Psalm 37:39-40 - God Delivers You From Every Enemy. 1 Peter 5:4 - You Have a Heavenly Crown. James 4:8 - When You Draw Close to God, He Draws Close to You. John 4:24 - Real Worship Pleases God. Mark 9:23 - Through Faith, All Things are Possible.
Hebrews 2:9 says "But We See Him". How do we see Jesus? Through Faith! In this sermon Pastor Chad explains why Christ tasted death for humanity and why He is the leader of our salvation.
What does the Bible mean by the powerful message “Not of works”… this message examines salvation as By Grace, Through Faith, and Not of Works.
Romans 3:9 // Well then, are we [Jews] better off than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks (Gentiles) are under the control of sin and subject to its power. Romans 3:19 // Now we know that whatever the Law [of Moses] says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that [the excuses of] every mouth may be silenced [from protesting] and that all the world may be held accountable to God [and subject to His judgment]. Romans 3:20-26 // For no person will be justified [freed of guilt and declared righteous] in His sight by [trying to do] the works of the Law. For through the Law we become conscious of sin [and the recognition of sin directs us toward repentance, but provides no remedy for sin]. BUT NOW But now the righteousness of God has been clearly revealed [independently and completely] apart from the Law, though it is [actually] confirmed by the Law and the [words and writings of the] Prophets. This righteousness of God comes THROUGH FAITH in Jesus Christ for all those [Jew or Gentile] who believe [and trust in Him and acknowledge Him as God's Son]. There is no distinction, since all have sinned and continually fall short of the glory of God, and are being justified [declared free of the guilt of sin, made acceptable to God, and granted eternal life] as a gift by His [precious, undeserved] grace, through the redemption [the payment for our sin] which is [provided] in Christ Jesus, whom God displayed publicly [before the eyes of the world] as a [life-giving] sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation (propitiation) by His blood [to be received] through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness [which demands punishment for sin], because in His forbearance [His deliberate restraint] He passed over the sins previously committed [before Jesus' crucifixion]. It was to demonstrate His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the One who justifies those who have FAITH in Jesus [and rely confidently on Him as Savior]. Only those who know what it is to be lost can fully appreciate what it means to be found BUT NOW Romans 3:23 // For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God Romans 1:25 //. …they traded the truth of God for a lie 3 key words: JUSTIFICATION REDEMPTION PROPITIATION Justification: the action of declaring or making righteous in the sight of God. Romans 3:24 // …and are being justified [declared free of the guilt of sin, made acceptable to God, and granted eternal life] as a gift by His [precious, undeserved] grace, through the redemption [the payment for our sin] which is [provided] in Christ Jesus. Justification = Acquittal AND Acceptance Acquittal means we're not guilty Acceptance means we are accepted Acquittal means we've been saved from hell Acceptance means we've been made a child of God When God looks at you he sees the righteousness of His son. Redemption-deliverance or release by the payment of a price Romans 3:24b // …justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus Our ransom has been paid by the precious blood of Jesus Mark 10:45 // For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many Propitiation-averting the wrath of God by the offering of a gift Hebrews 2:17 // Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people 1 John 2:2 // He [Jesus Christ] is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world 1 John 4:10 // In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins NOW WHAT? How does this glorious reality become ours today? Not by works, but by FAITH Romans 3:22 // This righteousness is given THROUGH FAITH in Jesus Christ to all who believe Romans 3:25 // The blessings of propitiation are to be received BY FAITH Romans 3:26 // God is shown to be just and the justifier of the one who has FAITH in Jesus Romans 3:28 // For we hold that one is justified BY FAITH apart from works of the law Ephesians 2:8-9 // For it is by grace [God's remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] THROUGH FAITH. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; 9 not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].
Jesus Is The Way, The Truth & The Life; Through Faith, He Is Preparing A Dwelling Place For Us.
Matthew 28:1-10 I. Jesus Is No Longer in the Tomb. II. The Resurrection Proves He Has Defeated Death. III. Through Faith, Even Though We Die, We Live.
We have been JUSTIFIED through Jesus and have PEACE with God. "Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ," Don't forget - We have ACCESS through JESUS! A backstage pass. A life not available to us without Jesus. "through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." Through FAITH by GRACE in which we STAND! Romans 5 : 1 - 5 NKJV 1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Through Faith, Our Journey Of Intimacy Begins
In this episode you will hear Faith talk about how she learned financial literacy from me (her Dad). Through Faith's early conversations of financial literacy, at 15 years old, she learned the value of time and how to give value with her time to have higher earnings. Faith began working at the age of 17, she learned to have great work ethic, create her retirement account (Roth IRA) and save. Fatih also established her credit on her own, growing it from zero to 720 in 18 months and is continuing to grow it. From great work ethic, saving her money, understanding the difference between Wants and Needs, is what allowed her to purchase her first home all on her own. A truly inspiring story.

Learning what Through Faith is according to the Scriptures
Saturday is review day on The Daily Promise. Every Saturday, we review the promises of the week so we can allow them to go deep into our hearts and lives. Here are the promises we covered this week. Psalm 37:39-40 - God Will Deliver You From Every Enemy. 1 Peter 5:4 - You Have a Heavenly Crown. James 4:8 - When You Draw Close to God, He Draws Close to You. Matthew 5:14 - You are the Light of the World. Mark 9:23 - Through Faith, all Things are Possible.
Starting in the second half of Romans 1 this week, Jonathan teaches about the link between godliness and thanksgiving. Ungodliness results in an absence of thanks and the presence of murmuring & complaining. But godliness results in thanksgiving - which is the will of God for our lives (I Thessalonians 5:16-18). But hearing the command ‘BE THANKFUL’ is not enough. We know the ‘what’ but we must now ‘how’. How can we frail sons of Adam “give thanks in all circumstances”? The same way we received Christ Jesus as Lord - “By Grace, Through Faith.” Finishing with an Old Testament story from Joshua 17, we see that we must rejoice in our lot and commit to “clearing it out” before we see expansion!

Scripture For Today:Psalm 102:17“He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea.”Responsibility for Answered Prayer pt 5We have been discussing “Who's responsible for our prayer's being answered?” Yesterday, we left off with the FACT that God has done ALL that He is going to do when it comes to answering your prayers. If it concerns healing, finances, loved ones – it really does not matter – He has already done ALL that He is going to do! Jesus paid the complete, full price when He went to that Cross. There is nothing else to beg God for. There is nothing else to “wait on God for.” There is nothing else we can do except – BELIEVE IT IS ALREADY SO! I know this steps all over denominational toes out there! I know there are some well-meaning pastors and ministers that do not want to “get the people's hopes up” that their prayer has already been answered – but the person can't appropriate it (or whatever). Well, let me ask you this… Would you rather “get your hopes up?” Or would you rather I preach and keep putting you down and never giving you ANY HOPE whatsoever? Which would you rather hear? HOPE, right? Well, let me put to you like this… Where does your HOPE lie for eternal life? In Jesus… Where does your HOPE lie for the forgiveness of ALL your sins? In Jesus… So where should your HOPE lie for everything else in this life? Same answer.. IN JESUS! Amen! One more thing, then I'll close… Let's read Ephesians 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, WHO HAS BLESSED US with ALL Spiritual blessings in Heavenly places in Christ.” OK – God HAS blessed us with WHAT? He has blessed us with ALL Spiritual blessings. That scripture does not say, “Who is going to, someday, bless us.” Does it? NO! It says HAS, past tense, BLESSED US. Do you believe God's Word is True? Do you? Then you have to believe THAT VERSE, too! Amen! Another translation says, “with every spiritual blessing.” That means EVERY BLESSING there is to had – nothing left out – WE ALREADY GOT! Amen! In Christ there is all that we will ever need. All things have been provided for us – if we will only believe. Amen! Every need you will ever have in this life, from the time you were born until the time you will die, has already been met. EVERY – SINGLE – ONE! We also know, that we can appropriate the promises of God, the blessings of God, for our own lives. We also know that it is God's WILL that every need be met because scripture says we are “Blessed with ALL Spiritual blessings.” That means NOTHING is left out or undone. So, “how do we appropriate” these promises? Through Faith and through prayer. Pray the Word over your situation and believe by Faith that the answer is already yours. YOU have the authority AND the responsibility for YOUR answered prayer. Amen! Let's Pray! 2 Corinthians 13:5,NLT- “Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.” Are we willing to evaluate ourselves honestly, to test our faith? We've all gotta ask ourselves, how teachable are we, really? Make no mistake, a faith life is a completely different life. The NT tells us, we are to walk by faith, not by sight. You see, living by faith, not senses, not emotions, not intelligence or experiences, will require genuine faith. This is why God tells us that we're to examine ourselves, to test our faith walk. Unfortunately there's a lot of Christians that won't even acknowledge they need help with their faith. Even though with our new creation lives it's really the only way we navigate the Kingdom we've been born into. MSG, The fundamental fact of our existence is that this TRUST in God, this FAITH, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It's our handle on what we can't see. Faith actually starts as a conviction in the human soul, established by the unveiling of the truth in God's word with, to the degree that you have this fixed expectation from what God has told you, you have this divinely inspired trust. 2 Corinthians 5:7,AMP- We walk by faith, not by sight, living our lives in a manner consistent with our CONFIDENT BELIEF IN GOD'S PROMISES. Living this way starts with our thinking. There's no way our believing can be right until our thinking is right. Then James takes things a step further by driving the point home that our tongue is the rudder of our lives. RIGHT THINKING = RIGHT BELIEVING = RIGHT TALKING When Jesus told the disciples to have faith in God, He instructed them to speak faith to their situations, to their mountains. But he started the lesson with this statement, “If you'll not doubt in your heart but believe what you say” In other words, we've got to line our words up with our faith. Jesus is very clear in the fact that speaking faith from our hearts, effects change in our world, from His. This is why, according to Jesus Himself, speaking divinely inspired words over our situation is exactly the kind of corresponding action James is talking about. Why do you think Jesus told us to put the Kingdom of God first? Because just like our natural lives here demand focus, intentionality, development, make no mistake, so does our new lives. We've gotta get this, living this kind of life requires focus, and a key to living a more focused life is avoiding distractions. And when we talk the problem more than the promise, we're distracted. Because God has designed us to live by faith, we've got to get to the place where we allow what He says to shape and strengthen what we actually believe. How we actually live. Just like with the father of our faith Abraham. Remember last week I brought up the fact that God changed Abram's name to Abraham, changing what he was saying about himself. And this is exactly what we've got to do with what God says about us today. What's God calling you? Romans 4, Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all. This is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, “I have made you the father of many nations.” This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing. The God who calls things which do not exist as though they did. I love Mary's statement when the angel spoke her, “According to your word, let be unto me.” Seriously, everyone of us operate within the boundaries of our current beliefs. You see, I believe Jesus is looking for some faith people today like Mary. According to your word Lord. Lets turn it around for a second, how many times did Jesus tell people, “according to you faith, let it be so?” The more I look at the life of faith, at believing, and I know I talk this all the time but our thinking is key. Faith truly is a mind set. Maybe we should say it like this, faith is an attitude. Think about it, our attitude pretty much determines our approach to our life. Consider this, which one describes you, you see the difficulty in every opportunity, or the opportunity in every difficulty? Ephesians 4:23-24,NIV- “Be made new in the ATTITUDE of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Take president Lincoln for example, very few people had a clue who he was until the weight of the civil war revealed his way of thinking, his mind set, his attitude. Truth is, most of us, like our father of faith Abraham, are just one attitude adjustment away from stepping into the name change God has for us. Discovering that next level of success. Overcoming that challenge. Being the change in that situation. And this is why it's absolutely vital we continue growing in our faith because at the end of the day, everyone of us live within our own self-imposed boundaries of what choose to believe or not. This is why there's a lot of wonderful Christians that find themselves in unbelief concerning something Jesus says simply because it makes no sense. Jesus faced the same unbelief with His disciples. Repeatedly He asked them, "How is it that you have no faith?" Faith isn't intelligence or emotion, it's 100% spiritual. And this is why the created was never intended to prove God. This is why Jesus told us to go and tell, not go and prove. The proving is God's responsibility. Romans 1:17,NLT- This Good News tells us how God makes us right in His sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by FAITH. As the Scriptures say, “It is THROUGH FAITH that a righteous person has life.” “Through Faith,” Through a divine conviction in the soul, established on the truth in God's word, to the degree that you have this fixed expectation from what God has told you. Something God is continually reminding of, especially when I'm examining my faith walk, is my love walk. After all, He's the One who told us that our faith only works through love. Galatians 5:6,NIV- For in Christ Jesus, The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. Let's go back to Paul's instructions in Corinthians; 2 Corinthians 13:5,MSG- Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don't drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. Bottom line, if we're going to test our faith walk, it starts by testing our love walk. Self evaluation isn't something we're always open to. Think about it, human nature leans toward blaming something or someone. (Adam and Eve) Truth is, if we're not willing to self evaluate, the odds are pretty high that there's no way we'll be open to it from another person. Romans 15:5-6,NIV- “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” And this is why He told us to walk by faith not by sight, because we would never be successful walking in love, only walking by sight. Here's another reason the right attitude is so important, without it we could look right past the person God's wanting us to influence. Or connect us with the one He's been leading our direction to influence us. Remember, faith is always expecting Jesus to be right in the middle of what our situation might be. 2 Corinthians 5:7,AMP- We walk by faith, not by sight, living our lives in a manner consistent with our CONFIDENT BELIEF IN GOD'S PROMISES. Because God has designed us to live by faith, we've got to get to the place where we allow what He says to shape and strengthen what we actually believe. How we actually live.

James' exhortation to the church has been incredibly foundational. Imagine not having his words to challenge and assure us. . .so glad his letter ended up in the Bible for all of us to learn from. For a second week, we will be in the same passage. Last week, we meditated on what it means to have a dead faith. Praise be to God that all things can be made new in Christ Jesus! Whatever is dead can come back to life again. What a gift His resurrection is to the world. We continue to proclaim that astounding truth. Now, we want to look at this passage to study what these words mean. This teaching has been controversial in the church because people have understood them to mean that James doesn't think faith matters. This, of course, is in direct contradiction to Paul, who says in Ephesians 2 that we are saved by grace alone, THROUGH FAITH. This week we want to think through what James is saying. What problem is he trying to address in his context? How has the church, through the years, lived out this dual understanding? How do you understand it? It is a privilege to be able to come freely into the house of God, learning together from His Spirit. What a gift to worship with no persecution. On Sunday, let us be grateful and pray for our brothers and sisters who have a very different reality. May the Lord continue to meet all those who seek Him in truth, by the power of His Spirit.

1 Chron. 16:34 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.I'm reminded rascism is a spiritual battle first, we can’t debate it away, we can’t fix it - only Jesus. Take a few moments to pray for. Today - we continue our series on ‘big audacious faith’ - stories found in the scriptures revealed through the lives of men and women who believed God inspite of their circumstances. These are men and women who cried out instead of shutting up. These are those who moved when others said you can’t go there. These are those who got back up when life pushed them down. These are those sacred ‘God’ moments in the lives of people who believed God. People just like us. These are found in moments and seasons of crisis, stress, great need, desperation, storms that are within and without. Big Audacious faith defined: showing a willingness to take surprisingly bold risks, bold, daring, fearless, brave, courageous, valiant, heroic….based on faith in Him, his word.Jesus invites us to follow him into the complexity of life, relationships, and all the crazy stuff and challenge the tensions between what looks good and feels good ... with that which is truth and of the faith.Illustration: Have you heard the statement: To thine own self be true? it’s from Hamlet Have you heard this statement: Luke 9:23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.My goal is to be true to the King of Kings rather than true to myself. I can’t trust the voice of my flesh or an unrenewed mind. These voices, if followed, will take me places contrary to where Jesus calls me to follow Him too. They will lead me from true freedom to lawlessness.Prayer…..Our Father in heaven,Hallowed be Your name.Your kingdom come.Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.Life is to be lived with a faith that is awake/alive…..By Faith. With Faith. Through Faith. 1. Have faith in God.Heb. 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.Mark 11:22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.”John 20:27-29 27 Then said he to Thomas, Reach here your finger, and behold my hands; and reach here your hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 And Thomas answered and said to him, My LORD and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.1 Peter 1:6-96 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8 whom having not seen[a] you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.Faith: conviction of the truth, belief; persuaded fully; trust; confidence; When we look at the Healings of Jesus. There are at least 19 different healings recorded in the gospels. In 12 of these Jesus said…Your faith has made you well/whole/healed you. When we look at Heb. 11 - the Hero’s of faith chapter we see this phrase: “by faith”… -18 times: What’s it there for? to encourage us to faith / to believe God Heb. 11:3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. 2. My faith has a purpose. Heb. 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.In this life of faith. We must believe that He is (who He said He is/who He revealed Himself to be) and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. a. Faith is God pleasing. Faith is about Honor. I think about the words perseverance, continue, faithfulness - words that describe our faith. 1 John 5:4-54 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our[your] faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?b. Faith is our victory. Last week in looking at David with Goliath. His Faith - was about the honor of God. About His Name. About His Fame. Faith honors God.c. Faith receives the promises of God.3. Faith awakens. 1 Peter 1:23-25 23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, 24 because "All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, 25 But the word of the Lord endures forever." Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.Corruptible seed: that which perishesIncorruptible seed: not liable to corruption or decay - imperishablePeter calls this seed: incorruptible - What is it? God’s wordHeb. 12:2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.May I submit to you: ‘Big Audacious Faith’ begins with an incorruptible Seed received. A Woman 12 years sick:Mark 5:27-28 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.”Blind Bartimaeus: Mark 10:47-48 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”Stay Close. Keep yourself around Jesus. He is near.Keep yourself around God’s word. His presence. His people. His church.Keep yourself in a posture of hearing. Keep yours eyes open to the truth. Keep your heart free from clutter. Ask the Holy Spirit to Help. Why? Rom. 10:17NKJV So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.NLV So then, faith comes to us by hearing the Good News. And the Good News comes by someone preaching it.Word: Rhema-that which is or has been uttered by the living voice, thing spokenPlanting is required if a harvest is desired! Plant the Word in your heart. Read it. Receive it. Obey it. Say it. Be steady. Be consistent.Feed your spirit daily. Jesus is the author and the finisher of faith. Talk with him. Commune with him. Jesus invites us to follow him into the complexity of life, relationships, and all the crazy stuff and challenge the tensions between what looks good and feels good ... with that which is truth and of the faith. Illustration: Have you heard the statement: To thine own self be true? it’s from Hamlet Have you heard this statement: Luke 9:23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. My goal is to be true to the King of Kings rather than true to myself. I can’t trust the voice of my flesh or an unrenewed mind. These voices, if followed, will take me places contrary to where Jesus calls me to follow Him too. They will lead me from true freedom to lawlessness. Prayer…..Our Father in heaven,Hallowed be Your name.Your kingdom come.Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Life is to be lived with a faith that is awake/alive…..By Faith. With Faith. Through Faith. 1. Have faith in God. Heb. 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Mark 11:22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.” John 20:27-29 27 Then said he to Thomas, Reach here your finger, and behold my hands; and reach here your hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 And Thomas answered and said to him, My LORD and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. 1 Peter 1:6-96 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8 whom having not seen[a] you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls. Faith: conviction of the truth, belief; persuaded fully; trust; confidence; When we look at the Healings of Jesus. Heb. 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. In this life of faith. We must believe that He is (who He said He is/who He
The Diogenes Club Podcast: for the love of Buffy and other awesome.
Welcome to our 2-part podcast of Buffy Season 3, Episode 3: Faith, Hope & Trick; wherein... OMG Faith is here!!! Plus, Trick, some floppy-haired dink, and the return of Angel: now with more naked! We have been anticipating the appearance of Faith since our show's inception and have many, many things to say. As always, we discover deeper themes and meanings than what is meant to be seen on the surface, and we work to uncover what is really going on. Among the character developments as well as comings and goings around town, we discuss all that is hidden, including what Buffy's dream of Angel and the ring means (it's a trick... get it?), deeper myths that are beginning to come together, and, well.. a ton. Through Faith, we also get to discuss production coding as a way to recognize gay/bi/queer characters as discussed at greater length in The Celluloid Closet, which explains much of how we see such heavy queer themes where many have detected none: and boy, do we detect a few. Please remember that this is a 2-part episode, so make sure to check back this week for part 2 on this same post (in edits now). And as always, thank you so much for listening, sharing us with your Buffy-loving friends, commenting, and liking us on Facebook. And thank you SO very much for your patience with our schedule since things have slowed down to terribly this year. We have had some technical and life issues, but we are working to make it better. **Please forgive us for any audio issues we have had and are having for the next few issues. Some failing equipment caused some serious anomalies that had to be edited around. We have since fixed the problems with massive equipment upgrades, but we have a few episodes yet to get past before it will get WAY better. **
In Romans chapter three, Paul moves into the truth God revealed to him regarding justification by faith and not works. He also stresses the importance of the law as God’s moral standard and reminds his readers they have no room to boast because salvation is a gift and not earned.
