“Miss, can you handle this bus? - Oh, sure. It's like driving a really big Pinto.” We watched our favorite 90s action movie Speed, with our favorite 90s hunk Keanu Reeves this week on the podcast with our friend Adam J. Yeend. All of the greats are turning 30 this year (Interview with the Vampire, the Lion King, True Lies, and this Jan DeBont action classique is one of them. To say ‘They don't make ‘em like they used to' is an understatement. Sure a lot of boys growing up wanted to be Jack Craven (Reeves), the beefcake police officer saving citizens from terrorists, but we always wanted to be Annie (Sandra Bullock) behind the wheel of the bus. We fell in love with Keanu and Sandy here, and still has some of the most intense action films ever committed to film. We discuss the iconic supporting cast that includes Dennis Hopper's insane performance, Jeff Daniels in side-kick mode, and MTMUG treasure Beth Grant. Buckle up cause this episode is High Octane! THE LAST ZOMBIE, 16min., USA Directed by Adam J. Vaughn At the conclusion of a zombie apocalypse, a lone zombie wanders the planet, isolated and threatened by every human in sight. When Nova, the last zombie, comes across a little girl who knows no fear, the two form an unlikely – and tragically short lived – friendship. Get to know the filmmaker: During my studies at Stevenson university, I conceived, scripted, shot, and finalized many student film ideas, many of which went on to be award-winning films. “The Last Zombie” was a project from my studies that I had scripted, revised, but never actually filmed while in school. Partnering with Charm City Filmmakers, I was able to complete “Last Zombie,” inspired by the influences of such things like “The Walking Dead,” “Warm Bodies,” as well as the famous ‘Maria and the Monster' scene from the 1920's Universal film, “Frankenstein.” You can sign up for the 7 day free trial at www.wildsound.ca (available on your streaming services and APPS). Welcome to the special episode of Talking Billions. It's Berkshire Hathaway week, and some of you might be heading to Omaha for the company's annual meeting. I'll be there, and I might see some of you. Many of you might be following the event online. Others might be new to Buffett and his company. As a special treat this week, I have an episode with Adam Mead for you. Adam wrote an incredible, almost 800-page book about the history of Berkshire Hathaway. I read it all, and I highly recommend it. Berkshire is an investment vehicle managed by Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger, two legends in the investing world. There are many books about them and the company, but this one is unique. Adam did an incredible job researching the history of Berkshire long before Buffett's arrival at the helm, leaving us with hints about the future beyond Buffett. If you are a Buffett fan, I think you'll greatly enjoy hearing stories you might be hearing for the first time, or at least how we discuss them might offer a new perspective. If you are new to Buffett and Berkshire, it's a great primer in the history of a very successful investing duo, a one-of-a-kind company, and over 150 years of economic and industrial change in the United States. We start with the whaling fortunes of the northeast, we talk about Hetty Green, a legend of Wall Street of the late 1800s, to a story of the textile industry in America, to Buffett's arrival, and Berkshire's prosperous growth to a giant it is today holding a stake in Apple among others. We'll talk both about the success and some massive mishaps, too. Stay tuned until the end, where we talk about Buffett's lesser-known involvement with Amazon soon after the dot com bubble burst. Our conversation is a lesson in economic history seen through the experience of one company that changed and evolved and continues to flourish today. Adam J. Mead is a life-long student of business and capital allocation. He is the CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Mead Capital Management, LLC. Adam is also the founder of watchlistinvesting.com, a value investing newsletter. Adam spent over a decade in banking in commercial credit, including observing first-hand the after effects of the Great Recession and the long credit expansion afterward. Adam has been investing in public securities markets since 2004. Adam holds a Master of Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University. In this episode of the Safe Space Podcast, Rosie and Harry chat to Adam J. Harrington, the wonderful voice of Sindri, from God of War. Now, before we go any further, this is an official spoiler warning. SPOILER WARNING In this episode we will be discussing heavy spoilers from God of War Ragnarok. If you'd like to avoid spoilers, please don't listen to this episode! We were delighted to invite Adam J. Harrington to discuss the evolution of Sindri within God of War Ragnarok, and dive into the role that grief played in his character progression throughout the story. Adam talks about his experiences playing Sindri, and his portrayal of loss within a game which is very much focused on healing and acceptance in many ways. We discuss the challenges that Sindri faced following the death of his brother, and how that translated to Adam's performance. We also talk about how actors can bring lived experience to performances when tackling heavy emotions such as grief, and the expectations that Adam had for the sequel to God of War (2018). Adam shares memories and experiences that he had whilst performing scenes for God of War Ragnarok, and how the actors were such a tight knit community, and brings to light behind the scenes perspectives of creating this masterpiece of a game. Sindri's theme also played a part in bringing together the character to the screens, and Adam talks about his relationship with Bear McCreary and the inspirations behind creating the music that accompanied Sindri as a character. Follow Adam on Twitter and Instagram. Learn more about Mrs. American Pie, a new TV show Adam is working on!

When Adam Robarts was asked by a family member what he would choose to do for a career if he were not an architect. Without hesitation he replied: A hospice nurse. It was just five years earlier that he had a profound experience accompanying his father through the final weeks of life before he died of cancer in Uganda. And yet, Adam could not have imagined then that nine months after that conversation with his family, he would begin to accompany his 19-year-old son Haydn through a battle with a rare and aggressive brain cancer. My friends, today Adam joins us to share how Haydn's dignified response to his own suffering provides essential wisdom and hopeful possibilities for each of our lives. This conversation will renew your mindset to live this precious life with purpose and clarity.
