Friends of the Rosary,Today, October 7, is the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary. The feast was instituted to honor the Virgin Mary in thanksgiving for the Christian victory over the Turks and Ottoman Empire at Lepanto on October 7, 1571.The naval victory, which saved Europe from being overrun by Islamic forces, was a divine favor granted through the recitation of the Rosary of Mary. Pope St. Pius V and all Christians had prayed the Rosary for victory. The Feast is a great festival of thanksgiving for the signal and countless benefits bestowed on Christendom through the Rosary of our Blessed Queen, Mary Help of Christians.Across history, successive popes have urged the faithful to pray the Rosary.Pope Benedict XVI invited all families to pray the Rosary, “It is a contemplative and Christocentric prayer, inseparable from the meditation of Sacred Scripture. It is the prayer of the Christian who advances in the pilgrimage of faith, in the following of Jesus, preceded by Mary.”Saint John Paul II said, “The rosary does indeed ‘mark the rhythm of human life,' bringing it into harmony with the ‘rhythm' of God's own life, in the joyful communion of the Holy Trinity, our life's destiny and deepest longing. Through the rosary, the faithful receive abundant grace, as though from the very hands of the Mother of the Redeemer.”The Rosary is a contemplative, mental, and vocal prayer, biblically inspired, that centers on meditation on the salvific mysteries of Christ in union with Mary, and brings down God's blessing on the faithful.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! It is a striking fact, though often overlooked, that from the earliest days of the Church, the Virgin Mary was not merely honoured as the Mother of our Lord, but held up as the model of Christian faith itself. This wasn't because early Christians confused her with Christ, or wished to place her above Him. Rather, they saw in her something the modern world too often misses: a life fully and freely surrendered to God. Before she carried Christ in her womb, she had already welcomed Him in her heart. When the angel Gabriel came to her, he did not offer a polite suggestion. He declared a divine reality: “You will conceive and bear a son.” No theological debate, no careful exposition, only a moment of decision. And Mary's response—“Be it unto me according to thy word”—was more than agreement. It was the first, purest act of discipleship in all of Christian history. From that moment, the Church understood something profound: Mary is not the exception to the Christian life; she is its pattern.Long before St. Peter dropped his nets or St. Paul fell from his horse, Mary had already said yes to God. She believed when belief came at a cost. She trusted when she did not understand. She obeyed when the path was unclear. And when all others had fled the cross, she remained. This is why the earliest Christians honoured her—not as a goddess, not as a distant symbol, but as the first and truest disciple. They called her Theotokos, “God-bearer,” not to exalt her above Christ, but to defend the truth of the Incarnation: that God truly became man, and did so through the willing obedience of a human being.Mary shows us what it looks like when humanity is fully open to God. Not proud. Not self-sufficient. Not scrambling to control. But open. Receptive. Willing. We are not called to be her, but we are called to follow her. And most of us, it must be said, are not likely to become apostles, prophets, or martyrs. But we are all called to do what she did: to listen for the voice of God—and to respond, not with delay or demands, but with faith. If the Fall began with Eve's “no,” then redemption begins with Mary's “yes.” In that yes, history turned, Heaven touched Earth, and the Word became flesh. She did not work miracles. She did not preach sermons. She simply gave herself to God—and in doing so, gave the world its Saviour. Her faith was quiet, but unshakable. Hidden, but world-changing. And if we have eyes to see it, her life offers us not a relic to revere, but a path to walk. --- Help Spread the Good News --- Father Brian's homilies are shared freely thanks to generous listeners like you. On October 1, 911, during the reign of Emperor Leo the Wise, an all-night vigil was being held at the Blachernae Church of the Mother of God in Constantinople, with many of the faithful crowding the church. St Andrew the Fool for Christ (commemorated tomorrow, October 2) was standing at the back of the church with his disciple Epiphanius. At around four in the morning, the most holy Theotokos appeared above the people, clothed in resplendent garments, surrounded by indescribable radiance, and holding a veil in her outstretched hands, as though to protect all the people. St Andrew said to Epiphanius 'Do you see how the Queen and Lady of all is praying for the whole world?' Epiphanius replied 'Yes, Father, I see it and stand in dread.' This wonderful event is recorded in Epiphanius' life of St Andrew. Because of it, the Church keeps an annual feast on this date. Note: This feast is particularly well-loved in the Slavic churches. In 1960, the Greek church transferred its observance to October 28, in memory of the Mother of God's protection of the Greek forces holding the Albanian front against Italy in 1940. Part 17- This is the seventeenth and final installment of my first book “The Constant Procession.” Ukrainian churches during the times of the USSR were kept alive thru immigrants to North America. Last Chapter- Apparition sites offer hope for a timeless mode of being and the “constant procession” continues… Listen from the beginning- Episode 461- Part 1 NOTE: These final chapters were written before the current war between the Ukraine and Russia broke out. The time period I wrote about began in 1922 when the Ukraine was totally controlled by the USSR. In 1991, the USSR broke into the numerous independent countries that included the Ukraine. Russia became the most powerful country in the region and at that point in time. Chapter 28 continues to describe this earlier time period when Ukrainian churches were under siege during the times of the USSR's religious suppression. However, it was Ukrainian Immigrants to North America who kept them going during this suppression. The final chapter is about apparition sites where the Virgin Mary has appeared. They offer hope for a timeless mode of being for those in the constant procession... There are links, photos and more about this on my website. Pray for this war in the Middle East to end. Send us comments, suggestions and ideas here! In this week's episode we raise our eyes to the heavens and prepare ourselves to be sucked straight into God's waiting room as we investigate the unlikely modern trend which sees people from all over the world selling their cars, rehoming their pets and spending more time out doors in preparation for the rapture; an event where God's faithful ascend into heaven prior to the kick-off of Armageddon and the seven years of brutal Tribulations during the end of the world when Jesus comes back to kick Satan in the teeth. On the free side of the show we explore the modern trend as it explodes on Tik Tok before winding back the clock to see how the faithful and the Church alike have long theorized about this particular event before wrapping up what the entire thing has to do with Aleister Crowley. More than you'd think probably. In the extended show we take a look at places where the tribulations period has invaded popular culture before settling into a rather enlightening investigation into the Virgin Mary's Assumption into heaven which, at the very end, descends into Tim and Luke yelling at each other about Star Wars. REFLECTION QUESTIONS:1. C. S. Lewis said that the incarnation is the central miracle in the Christian. Do you think he's right? Why is the incarnation so central in the story of redemption?2. What does this passage teach us about why the incarnation happened? Why are these important truths to know?3. Jesus set a perfect example for us in his life. But we can't imitate him if we don't regularly spend time looking at him. What is your plan to spend time looking at Christ this week?4. What does this passage teach us about Jesus' death? How does Jesus' death give us freedom from fear of death? How are you walking in this freedom?5. How can you practically turn to Jesus for help in temptation, fear, or suffering, rather than relying on your own strength?

Friends of the Rosary,Historically, today, September 25, is the commemoration of Our Lady of Ransom. The Blessed Virgin appeared in separate visions to St. Peter Nolasco, St. Raymond of Penafort, and James, King of Aragon, in 1218, asking them to found a religious order dedicated to freeing Christian captives from the barbarous Saracens, also known as Moors, who at the time held a significant part of Spain. On August 10, 1218, King James established the royal, military, and religious Order of our Lady of Ransom, first known as the Order of St. Eulalia, now known as the Mercedarian Order, with most of the members being knights. Many became heroes of charity who collected alms for the ransom of Christians, and often gave themselves up in exchange for Christian prisoners. This feast was extended to the whole Church by Innocent XII in the 17th century.Additionally, in England today, the Feast of Our Lady of Walsingham is observed. In 1061, the lady of the manor of Walsingham, Richeldis de Faverches, was instructed by a vision of the Virgin Mary to build in her village an exact replica of the house in Nazareth in which the Annunciation had taken place. The original house was destroyed by Henry VIII, but by 1897, the chapel had been reconstructed, and pilgrimage was restored for both Anglicans and Catholics. On March 29, 2020, England was rededicated as the “Dowry of Mary,” with Our Lady of Walsingham being the central Marian devotion around the rededication.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Part 16- This is the sixteenth installment of a free reading of my 1st book entitled “The Constant Procession.” You'll hear it from cover to cover in 15-minute podcast segments! Medjugorje, does not come to mind as a vacation spot. But it has inspired visiting pilgrims to spread the Madonna's words. For young people, who have not lived more than thirty years, this area of the world is typically not on their radar. For those who have lived a bit longer, there remains a dark mental imprint. A remembrance that recalls brutality inflicted on people within this region as they experienced civil war in the 1990's. Fighting caused by the breaking up of Yugoslavia. For me, the news reporting during that period of the civil war did little to help explain the confusing jumble of puzzling information that ominously included atrocities, genocide and war crimes. Yet this area is where the Madonna appeared. She offered to the world a surprising counterpoint to humanities deeds. It's amazing to me that even during that civil war, pilgrims from around the world continued to converge on Medjugorje, which seemed to be located in the middle of the warfare. We live in a world in which people more than ever focus on physical possessions and experiences, they inter-act between themselves in all that they and others experience but, says Jesus, these are not the things that matter. We will read in Luke's gospel tomorrow – his comment that, “one's life does not consist in the abundance of(our) possessions” [12 v.15] Today's chapter (11) contains quite a number of sayings by Jesus which challenge our understanding; one is a parable (v.24-26) about an “unclean spirit” which, when it has “gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and finding none it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.' And when it comes, it finds the house swept and put in order. Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there.” Then Jesus gives the lesson the parable is teaching, he says “and the last state of that person is worse than the first”So Jesus is making a point about the human state of mind – what “possesses” the mind – the need to get rid of bad attitudes. In Luke ch. 9 we read the comment of Jesus' disciples James and John (aptly named ‘sons of thunder – Mark 3 v.17) who, when a Samaritan village did not provide for them, said “Lord, do you want us to tell fire to come down from heaven and consume them? But he (Jesus) turned and rebuked them, you do not know what manner of spirit you are of..” [v,52-55] At the beginning of the chapter we read how Jesus had sent out “the twelve and gave them power …” But now, in this situation, their spirit, that is, their attitude of mind, was wrong. So the lesson of the parable is that in getting rid of bad ways of thinking it is essential we put good ways of thinking in their place and not leave “the house” of our mind empty. Now back in today's chapter, the next verse (27) contains a very significant point. “As he said these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him. ‘Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts at which you nursed!'This shows the woman's mind was focussed on physical things- but there was no lasting value in that! We can see in history the meaningless worship of the Virgin Mary for which God's word gives no warrant at all – she is dead and buried and awaits the resurrection like all other worthies who have served the Almighty; as we read in Hebrews of those who do God's will, “These all died in faith, not have received the things promised, but having seen than and greeted them from afar …” [11 v.13]Finally, notice how Jesus responded to the woman who made this comment! His answer is most significant! He said, “blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” And, wonderfully, we can read it whenever we want to! But maybe we have a “spirit” in our house that hinders this? Let us be blessed through the word of God and “keep” in our house what we read so that our minds are dominated by a right spirit. .

The Virgin Mary appears at Medjugorje in Yugoslavia (now Bosnia and Herzegovina) in June 1981. Her earliest messages reinforce Gospel teachings by Christ on ways to live: “Love God and Neighbors, Faith, Prayer and Fasting.” “These are how a person can ‘return to God' and enjoy the ‘fullness of life.” Meanwhile a Pope and a President find renewed clarity of purpose as they recover from assassination attempts and continue to live on the ‘pointy edge of the sword.' By request, we are looking at the Virgin Mary in this week's podcast, in particular the "dark Feminine" elements of her mythology. An exploration into Mary (or Maryam), mother of Jesus reveals various layers of her myth and the doctrines surrounding her. This includes the myth of the dying and resurrecting vegetation god, some striking parallels with Semele, mother of Dionysus, the heroic myth of the Virgin Birth and the Divine Child, and the social implications of her role in the Bible and other texts from the early Church to the medieval period.

9/10/25 - Yvonne-Aimée of Jesus (1901–1951) was a French mystic, visionary, and Augustinian nun whose hidden holiness shook the 20th century. From a young age she experienced mystical visions of Christ and the Virgin Mary, later becoming known for miraculous healings and the powerful prayer she received from Jesus: “O Jesus, King of Love, I put my trust in Thy merciful goodness.” During World War II, she fearlessly hid members of the French Resistance and Jewish refugees from the Gestapo inside her convent, narrowly escaping arrest and torture. After the war, she became Mother Superior of the Augustinian monastery in Malestroit, where her life of heroic charity, extraordinary mystical gifts, and devotion to the Sacred Heart and Divine Mercy inspired countless souls. In this episode, we explore her visions, miracles, prophecies, and her witness of courage in Nazi-occupied France. Yvonne-Aimée of Jesus stands as a radiant example of Eucharistic devotion, Marian consecration, and trust in God's mercy amidst suffering.

CONTINUED Nathaniel Peters, The Nature of Murder and Evil in Andrew Klavan's "The Kingdom of Cain" Nathaniel Peters reviews Andrew Klavan's "The Kingdom of Cain," which explores murder and evil through fiction and real-life examples. Klavan, a former atheist, was propelled to faith by pondering evil, suggesting that recognizing objective moral order is necessary to condemn acts like those of the Marquis de Sade. The book examines Leopold and Loeb, who murdered to prove their superiority and live beyond good and evil, but left a crucial clue, highlighting their human fallibility. Klavan also considers Dostoevsky's Raskolnikov, whose rationalized yet pointless murder leads to a breakdown of his self-deception. Klavan argues artistic creation, like Michelangelo's Pietà, can redeem or transform the subject of art. Michelangelo's Pietà Vatican City, Vatican City A marble sculpture by Michelangelo depicting the Virgin Mary holding the body of Jesus Christ.

St. Matthew 19:16-26 (Rich Young Man) Hebrews 9:1-7 In this homily, Father Anthony reflects on the Gospel of the rich young man, reminding us that salvation is more than meeting a minimum standard—it is a lifelong journey toward holiness. He shows how Christ gently leads us beyond comfort, calling us to surrender our attachments, whether wealth, time, opinions, or fears, in order to live in love and trust before God. Through the practice of kenosis, or self-emptying, we learn to soften our hearts, grow in grace, and allow Christ to transform us into His likeness. NOTE: The prayer that Fr. Anthony references at the beginning of the homily is: "The Holy Spirt shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee." It is from St. Luke 1:35, with the Archangel Gabriel pronouncing this blessing upon the Virgin Mary. As Fr. Anthony notes, the Orthodox Church uses this blessing liturgically during the Divine Liturgy.

In this episode, I take you with me on my live pilgrimage to Lourdes, the sanctuary of Mother Mary in France. Lourdes is a place where millions travel for healing, hope, and miracles but what I discovered here went far beyond holy water and candlelight. I share what it felt like to walk into the energy of the grotto, the lessons I learned waiting for hours in line (yes, including a bathroom incident that turned into a teaching on forgiveness), and the raw emotions that surfaced after bathing in the sacred waters. Phi's book; The Great Unlearning: Awakening to Living an Aligned and Authentic Life. Message Phi on Instagram Email Phi Pilgrimage to Lourdes & the Divine Mother Hello my love. I'm coming to you live, raw, still in the thick of my spiritual pilgrimage to Lourdes, the sanctuary of Mother Mary in France. It's a very personal journey for me that's still unfolding in the present day as I'm recording live here in France. I wanted to bring you along and have a sacred heart to heart. Honestly sounds like a personal diary rather than poddy ep! If you haven't heard of Lourdes in 1858, a young peasant girl named Bernadette had a series of visions of the Virgin Mary. Since then, millions of pilgrims have come each year, seeking healing, peace and connection with the divine. You see people from every corner of the world — some arriving in wheelchairs, some carrying heavy burdens and some simply searching for a quiet moment of faith. What struck me most about Lourdes is that it's not just about Catholicism. Yes, it is deeply Catholic in its roots and traditions, and very much like an adult Catholic Disneyland where old ladies go crazy for (a story about that later on). But when you are there, what you feel goes beyond religion. It feels like a universal mother energy. It feels like the presence of unconditional love itself, waiting to embrace you. The Energy of Sacred Places I've always believed there are certain places on Earth that simply hold energy. You step into them, and you know something is different. Sometimes it's in nature, like a mountain or a forest, and sometimes it's in sanctuaries like Lourdes. When I arrived, I could feel it immediately. The air was thick with prayer and it happens the year I've gone in 2025 is the Jubilee year marking the universal theme of hope. There were candles flickering everywhere. It was extremely busy, and what's so powerful is that this energy isn't just historical — it's alive. You can feel the devotion of millions of people here. For me, being there wasn't about worshiping a figure from my childhood faith. It was about standing in a place where the Divine Mother energy is so tangible, so present. Returning to My Roots I should share a little background. I grew up Roman Catholic. Mary was always present in my childhood — her statues in churches, rosaries in the hands of family members, prayers before bed. In fact, I had a memory flashback to being in kindergarten or year one. My first school play, I randomly got chosen to play Mother Mary in a Christmas play. My dad was religious and said if I had a Western name it would be Mary, so I would be Mary Dang to you! Like many of us, I drifted as I grew older for various reasons (which you can read about in my book The Great Unlearning). My spiritual path expanded, I explored other traditions, and Mary became more of a symbol in the background. Yet when I walked into Lourdes, something in me remembered. It wasn't about dogma or rules or religion. It was about the deep comfort of the mother figure I had known all along. She was waiting there for me, not asking me to prove anything — just to receive.

Read Online“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me and holy is his Name.” Luke 1:46–49Today we celebrate one of seventeen different memorials, feasts and solemnities in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary that are found on the Roman Liturgical Calendar. Today's celebration is one of the four great Solemnities by which our Blessed Mother is honored. Obviously, no other person other than our Lord is honored and celebrated with as much solemnity as the Mother of God.The Solemnity of the Assumption honors the fact that when the Blessed Virgin Mary completed her life on earth, she was taken body and soul into Heaven to be with her resurrected Son so as to adore the Most Holy Trinity forever. It's an amazing fact to consider that she retains her body and soul, united as one in Heaven, in anticipation of that glorious day when the new Heavens and Earth will be created and when all the faithful will rise so as to live in a new bodily form forever with God.Though this dogma of our faith had been held and believed by the faithful from the earliest times of our Church, especially since it was witnessed by those closest to our Blessed Mother at the time of her glorious Assumption, it wasn't until November 1, 1950, that Pope Pius XII solemnly proclaimed it to be so, raising this teaching of our faith to the level of a dogma, meaning, it must be held and believed by all. In part, the Holy Father declared, “...we pronounce, declare, and define it to be a divinely revealed dogma: that the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.”The Gospel passage quoted above comes from the beginning of Mary's song of praise, her Magnificat, by which she not only gives the greatest glory to God but also reveals who she is. She is the one whom “all generations” will call “blessed.” She is the one for whom “the Almighty has done great things.” She is the one who will eternally proclaim “the greatness of the Lord” and whose spirit will forever rejoice in God her Savior. And she is that lowliest of servants whom God has raised up to the greatest glory.Reflect, today, with the whole Church, upon the Most Glorious Ever-Virgin Mary who was conceived without sin, remained sinless throughout her life, and was taken body and soul into Heaven where she now adores the Most Holy Trinity and intercedes for you and for the whole Church. This is a Solemnity of great rejoicing! Share in this joy with the whole Church and with all the saints in Heaven! Most glorious and Ever-Virgin Mary, I rejoice today with you and with the whole Church for the most glorious things that God has done for you. You are beauty beyond beauty, Immaculate in every way, and worthy of our deepest love. As you now share body and soul in the glories of Heaven, please pray for me and for all your dear children on earth. Cover us with your mantle of love and pour forth the mercy of God upon us always. Mother Mary, assumed into Heaven, pray for us who have recourse to thee. Jesus, I trust in You.
