Culdcept Central founder Andyman joins me to chat about the mostly Japan-only franchise Culdcept. A mix of Magic the Gathering and Monopoly, this long running series carved out an interesting niche in the Japanese gaming sphere. We chat about the history of the franchise, the ambitious Culdcept Revolt, which Culdcept character should be in Smash and more. I also share thoughts on the memorable Kirby 64 and the coop chaos of the Overcooked series. Plus the latest Nintendo news and whether or not you should believe Yuji Naka. Throughout the history of the Business Casual Gamers podcast, you’ve listened to and watched our multiple purchases of Collector’s Editions, video game paraphernalia, and countless other physical objects that have nothing to do with playing the actual video game on offer. The obvious question becomes, why do we keep hanging onto all of these physical objects in a world increasingly driven by digital distribution? Are we just the old timers walking uphill in the snow both ways to the local Electronics Boutique or is there something more meaningful at hand? In this episode, the gamers explore the evolution of the collector’s editions and discuss why they have increasingly become a mainstay of the gaming world. In the assignment segment, Aaron covers his time with Culdcept Revolt for 3DS. Intro music provided by sawsquarenoise. Used with permission.
Spel som avhandlas: Overwatch, PUBG, Fortnite, Pokémon GO, Destiny 2, Warframe, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Divinity: Original Sin 2, Culdcept Revolt, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, Cuphead, Quake Champions
The only thing missing from this momentous episode is a Brass Bonanza.Somehow, against all logic, we've reached 100 episodes of Nintendo Free Radio. So it's roundabout time for some changes. In New Business, it's a group chat as for Mushroom-related reasons all three members of the team snagged SNES Classics, and between them managed to play a full third of the lineup. Donald picks up with Culdcept Revolt on the 3DS, before Stephen tries his hand at virtual head formation and also busts out the Super Scope VR... er, the Farpoint controller. Austen's big ones for this episode are the last Microsoft published title not to be loot boxed to hell in Cuphead, and in time for Dishonored Halloween his return to the world of Dishonored 2.Whatcha Watchin' serves as a nice summary of our collective tastes. Stephen brings the sci-fi with Seth MacFarlane's Orville, which should probably last a bit longer than every show Fox greenlit between cancelling and reinstating Family Guy. Austen goes superheroic with Best Picture nominee Wonder Woman, while Donald represents the anime faction with a few rounds of Code Geass. The Feature discussion is two parts, as we are keeping the show going under a new name that you'll probably see on our Twitter account, before doing the traditional look back at some of the highs and lows of production. Even the Mushrooms have a theme, as traditional punching bags of trade shows, Square Enix and recent foe Amazon come around for a good pillorying along with the continued ineptitude of PlayStation Network (seventy bucks a year!).We'll be back with you soon and will let you know when the email address change goes through, but for now we'll forward all the mail sent to the old address. This podcast was recorded on October 2 and was edited by Donald Theriault.
Episode 51 features some heavy front-loaded banter this week. If you're not a fan please check the timestamps below to skip it. They also give input on the Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer and discuss Rockstar Games as a whole and answer some listener questions. Beyond that Brad tells a story about a close call to brawling in a Trader Joe's bathroom and Corey almost witnessing a fight while on a skateboarding shoot. What an intense week!
