Maria Dennis – Sr. Legal Counsel and Sr. Director of Player Health And Safety for the NHLPA (yeah, THAT NHLPA) is our guest this week. Are we bias? Yes. Is Maria a dear friend Biff and Jacques have admired and have skated with for close to 3 decades? Yes. So, when WE say, the contributions to woman's hockey Maria has made since the early 80's (on and off the ice) truly make her the shoulders every proceeding generations is standing on … that's expected. But when writers from The Hockey News, ESPN and USA Hockey laud over her like we do … you know it's true. From being only 1 of 2 girls in organized checking hockey in Connecticut in the mid-70's to Yale teammates labeling her “The Franchise” in the 80's to being on the 1st USA Woman's National Team in 1990 (winning Silver in Ottawa) Maria (who still plays) had an amazing playing career and since 2011 is having equally impressive and important career as a hockey executive. Maria and the NHLPA are leading the way in professional sports with the first of its kind program: First Line. A player driven mental health program that strives to teach players about topics such as depression, anxiety, substance use and self-harm. To hear the pride and passion in Maria's voice talking about this program lets you know as great a player and lawyer she is … she's even a better person. We're calling this PART ONE as we'd love Maria to come back on soon and maybe with her mom and dad who were way ahead of the curve on inclusion and diversity in hockey and in life. The Monday Night Football game with the Broncos and Bills had a wild finish. The Bills aren't as good as we expected and that makes the Jets season more frustrating. Robert Saleh is still defending Zach Wilson. Boomer says Garrett Wilson needs to focus on doing his own job. The Broncos and Bills had a battle of mistakes last night. The Bills are a mess right now. Can the Jets take advantage of that on Sunday? Gio says Nathaniel Hackett looks bad right now since the Jets are still trying to run the Aaron Rodgers offense. Gio says if Robert Saleh is right about Zach Wilson playing well then that means the rest of the offense sucks. Jerry has the audio of the play that looked like a winner for the Bills before a flag gave the Broncos a do-over. Robert Saleh said Zach Wilson is better than last year and playing well. The Jets offense can't adjust. Brian Daboll is in an impossible situation. Gio says who cares about pride with the Giants, this year is now all about getting a top draft pick and chance to select the next franchise QB. The coaching staff and players will try but is it best for the franchise to lose? Gio loves “Brass Bonanza”, the old Hartford Whalers song. In the final segment of the hour, we listen to ‘Go! Cubs! Go!” and discuss other great sports songs.
Hour 1 The Monday Night Football game with the Broncos and Bills had a wild finish. Hour 2 The Bills haven't been the same team since they went to London. The Jets still have a chance to bounce back and we can all look like fools if the light comes on for Zach Wilson. Gio is hoping for it but doesn't think there's a chance it happens. Every move the Jets made was for Aaron Rodgers but all of his cronies stink without him. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the Bills losing to the Broncos thanks to turnovers and penalties. The primetime slate for this weekend is much better than some awful ones we've had recently. Robert Saleh doesn't believe a QB change will help the Jets offense. The Knicks lost to the Celtics and RJ Barrett did not play. Jim Harbaugh said some crazy things about his suspension and his cold. Henrik Lundqvist was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. In the final segment of the hour, Gio begs Carlos Mendoza to not have an embarrassing viral moment in his introductory press conference. Brian Cashman said Giancarlo Stanton is going to get hurt this season. Gio found his honesty refreshing. Maybe Brian Cashman will join our Cashman injury pool. Hour 3 The Raiders are about to face a real offense after seeing the Giants and Jets the last two weeks. There are a lot of double digit spreads this week. Gio tries to make sense of Jets beat writer Rich Cimini's tweet about Chris Streveler. Should Joe Douglas be on the hot seat for not trading for Josh Dobbs? Boomer says Zach made plenty of good throws against the Raiders. The team just can't finish off drives. Gio says the Rodgers injury somehow keeps getting worse because with a healthy Rodgers the Jets are one of the AFC's best teams. Should the Knicks pursue a trade for Zion Williamson if he wants out? Jerry returns for another update but first, Gio has a picture of Shaun Morash sleeping in the office yesterday with the Craig Carton dummy. Kevin Harlan delivered as always at the end of last night's Broncos Bills game. Is Robert Saleh still answering Joe B's texts? The Knicks, without RJ Barrett, had a bad 4th quarter in a loss to the Celtics. Chris Russo has a problem with Michigan trying to play the victim. Boomer says Jim Harbaugh is not facing any kind of adversity while Gio finds Harbaugh as a villain to be entertaining. In the final segment of the hour, the guys look ahead to the week 11 slate and wonder how many unders they should bet. There is light at the end of the tunnel but the next few months are going to be ugly for Giants fans. Hour 4 The Mets are introducing Carlos Mendoza as their new manager today. Tom Izzo will be working adjusted hours for the next few weeks and is the new “oatmeal bitch” along with being the de facto assistant program director. Why do MLB managers still have jerseys? A caller had flashbacks thanks to NBC mentioning the Heidi Game on Sunday night. Who is in charge right now at WFAN? Jerry is here for his final update of the day and starts with the Broncos wild win over the Bills. Boomer says the 12 men on the field penalty could either be the fault of the player or the special teams coach. Joe Benigno said the NFL wanted the Raiders to win the game. The Moment of The Day features Eddie giving us a peak into how Al has been prepping for his colonoscopy today. In the final segment of the day, Boomer predicts that Taylor Swift will be in Kansas City for Chiefs vs Eagles next Monday night, then we slightly de-rail into discussing communist China.

Real life FIFA. That's the only way I can describe what Joe Calafiore has been up to over the last 5 years. In 2016 he was working for Major League Baseball when he decided to pull together a business plan of what it could look like to bring a professional soccer team to Hartford, Connecticut. A couple years, countless hurdles, and a number of major milestones later, Joe and his team of owners did just that. They brought a professional soccer team to Hartford. Hartford Athletic played its inaugural game in the spring of 2019 and has earned a spot in the United Soccer League playoffs in just its second year of action. In this episode we talked about building a soccer team from the ground up, rebuilding an iconic Connecticut stadium, and Joe's 20-year dream of bringing professional sports back to Hartford. What's that new sound? It aint Brass Bonanza, which has been temporarily banned while the Bruins take on The Canes. The Frauds discuss the ECFs, and try to find some reason to hate The Jerks. It's easier to hate on the Celtics who have bowed out in 5 games to the Bucks. Oh, and the Red Sox are almost .500 so we can talk about them!

Jeffrey is bad with acronyms. Evan encourages you all to visit Hartford.
We kick things off with some live podding from the PNC Arena where we took in the debut of the Hurricanes "throwback" Hartford Whalers sweaters, complete with "Brass Bonanza" pumping over the PA as they threw down with Jason's Boston Bruins. Later in the summit lodge, interim producer @theHunterGames brings us some eerily familiar beer in Pappy's Products and we discuss a few wraps to 2018 and upcoming thoughts for 2019.

Scott went and got lost in Vegas with his new Fleury jersey. The Finland movement continues to surge. Brass Bonanza took center stage. World Juniors Day is upon us, and Christmas is over. Lets get back to puck and revisit some pre-season predictions to see where they stand, as well as a really unique brew for our Beer of the Week.
It’s been 21 years since the National Hockey League’s Hartford Whalers abruptly bolted for the (supposedly) greener pastures of North Carolina and a rechristened life as the Carolina Hurricanes, but don’t tell that to superfans Peter Hindle and Jerry Erwin – the self-professed “Whaler Guys” – who have made it their personal mission since 2011 to keep the memory of the franchise they love alive, and, with any luck, bring top-tier pro NHL hockey back to the Nutmeg State. As the hosts of their eponymous weekly Hartford Public Access TV show, Hindle and Erwin are not only passionate about remembering what the Whalers used to be, but also relentlessly focused on virtually every aspect of local civic development that might help someday return the city of Hartford to the ranks of “major league” status once again. We get into all things Whalers past (the legendary “Brass Bonanza” theme song, the iconic logo); present (XL Center renovation updates, the Guys’ Whaler-themed Connecticut state license plate initiative); and future (what current NHL markets are prime candidates for relocation, where Hartford stands against other potential franchise cities like Quebec, Houston, Kansas City, or Seattle) – as well as the Guys’ thoughts on the Hurricanes’ sudden rediscovery/re-embrace of the team’s heritage in its previous incarnation. PLUS: why the Coyotes, Panthers and even (ironically) Hurricanes would all do better in Hartford; why Whaler jerseys remain so popular; the vision of original (WHA New England) team owner Howard Baldwin; and the two most unsung heroes in Whaler history – Peter Good and Jacques Ysaye (aka Jack Say). Our appreciation to Audible, SportsHistoryCollectibles.com and Podfly for their sponsorship of this week’s show!
Alex and Dylan talk NHL Player products (#areyoubillebeino?), first round matchups, second round predictions and The Mayor of Vegas. Alex decides our Brass Bonanza needs lyrics. Rick Nash is due to score. Dylan makes a Box Pool. Stick around until the end to find out what we will be up to over the summer.
Since purchasing the Carolina Hurricanes in January, new owner Tom Dundon has embraced the team's former identity, the Hartford Whalers. On this special episode we're not only breaking down how the Whalers brand is now being implemented with the Hurricanes after two decades, but also take a look at Hartford's history. Could a successful resurgence of the Whalers brand mean that the Brass Bonanza could return to Hartford one day? How does an expansion team in Seattle impact Hartford's NHL future? Why is the Whalers brand still popular and who created one of sport's greatest logos? Listen to find out.
The only thing missing from this momentous episode is a Brass Bonanza.Somehow, against all logic, we've reached 100 episodes of Nintendo Free Radio. So it's roundabout time for some changes. In New Business, it's a group chat as for Mushroom-related reasons all three members of the team snagged SNES Classics, and between them managed to play a full third of the lineup. Donald picks up with Culdcept Revolt on the 3DS, before Stephen tries his hand at virtual head formation and also busts out the Super Scope VR... er, the Farpoint controller. Austen's big ones for this episode are the last Microsoft published title not to be loot boxed to hell in Cuphead, and in time for Dishonored Halloween his return to the world of Dishonored 2.Whatcha Watchin' serves as a nice summary of our collective tastes. Stephen brings the sci-fi with Seth MacFarlane's Orville, which should probably last a bit longer than every show Fox greenlit between cancelling and reinstating Family Guy. Austen goes superheroic with Best Picture nominee Wonder Woman, while Donald represents the anime faction with a few rounds of Code Geass. The Feature discussion is two parts, as we are keeping the show going under a new name that you'll probably see on our Twitter account, before doing the traditional look back at some of the highs and lows of production. Even the Mushrooms have a theme, as traditional punching bags of trade shows, Square Enix and recent foe Amazon come around for a good pillorying along with the continued ineptitude of PlayStation Network (seventy bucks a year!).We'll be back with you soon and will let you know when the email address change goes through, but for now we'll forward all the mail sent to the old address. This podcast was recorded on October 2 and was edited by Donald Theriault.
Hat tricks. EVERYWHERE! The first week of the 2017/18 NHL season was an eventful one. Four hat tricks scored on team's opening nights, but more incredible: The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Edmonton Oilers, and left McDavid off the scoresheet. Geeta, P Mac, Dave & Ryan join you this week. They're talking about hat tricks, Ovechkin's return to goal scoring superstardom and the Chicago Blackhawks lighting up the defending Stanley Cup Champions for TEN goals! Ryan discusses his encounters with Edmonton Oilers fans on opening night at Rogers Arena, and discusses Travis Green's first NHL win against the Oilers. They discuss Derek Dorsett's new role, the controversial decision to sit Brock Boeser and the limited role for the Sedins... at least during this game. They also discuss the ongoing arena problems in Calgary and how the situation has turned oddly political and they share their mutual love and admiration for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the early season excitement around the New Jersey Devils! Enjoy! If you're a $5 or more backer on Patreon, you can continue listening to this episode on "5 Minutes For Paying". Ryan shares the lowest point in his life, it involves $1.50 Legion beers, waking up hungover on Dave's kitchen floor and trying to steal money for a current Patreon backer... in 2009 Visit www.patreon.com/pucksonnet Follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook
