It's been a while since we've covered a game on KnockBack, so we thought we'd return with a bang. Long-requested as a target of our show, The Lost Legacy is a peculiar 2017 release that fits somewhere between an expansion and a full game, and it doesn't star Nate and Sully, but rather Chloe and Nadine, an interesting pairing to be sure. Made quickly by a spin-off Naughty Dog team and received well upon launch on PS4, The Lost Legacy may have represented the most conspicuous gap in my (Colin's) history with PlayStation, but that's no longer the case. Did Dagan and I like the game, though? We did, of course... and we have a ton to say about it. So please join us! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
Cardy, Matt, and Jesse have been blowing loads up aliens up in Helldivers 2 and having a bloody laugh doing it, too. There's also a big delve into the first couple of chapters of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and whether it lives up to the high standards of Remake. Plus, there's also plenty of time to look back at Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, chat about True Detective: Night Country, natter about The Iron Claw, and break huge chocolate biscuit news. As part of the leak, we also talk about sales figures for Sony's 1st party games in the PS4 and PS5 era, and what those numbers mean for Sony's present position in the industry. My guest today is an American writer and narrative designer for video games. After graduating from the USC School of Cinematic Arts with an MFA in Animation, he worked as an animator in Hollywood, contributing to an early version of Shrek at DreamWorks, Dinosaur at Disney, and to the music video Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In 2001 my guest joined the video game studio Naughty Dog and worked as the cinematics animation lead on seven titles including Jak and Daxter and the first three Uncharted games, a series for which he also helped to develop the storylines. He then became a staff writer and narrative designer on Uncharted IV: A Thief's End, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and the recent blockbuster The Last of Us: Part II. In 2020 he left Naughty Dog after more than two decades and joined Crop Circle Games as narrative director on the studio's first, as yet unannounced title. Remember when Nvidia revealed the 4000 series of RTX graphics cards and we all thought that the current consoles had been squashed into the ground before they have even been given a proper chance to flex their muscles? Yeah, that was a thing. And to be fair, the 4090 is an absolute monster… but that word also factors into the price and even its physical size. Maybe crypto bullshit started it, but at this point, in the year 2023, it really feels like PC gaming has been shooting itself in its foot. Like, a lot. You might almost think it's trying to sever each individual toe. And so, the state of PC gaming is what Ken, Tim and Hewso are talking about this time around. Only one of the three has an up-to-date rig, mind, which in a way highlights a way in which PC gaming is better than it was in the 90s, but boy is he still not getting the best experience possible. The Last of Us is still torturing poor Hewso and his $4000 PC. Meanwhile, Ken is off playing less-demanding indies and Tim is parked in front of his PlayStation in the room where the AC is. Welcome to another mind-blowing episode of the Super BS Gamescast. Today in gaming, Josh finished Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Donna has been playing Path of Exile. Brian is jumping back into Hyperlite Drifter and he also picked up Mario + Rabids: Kingdom Battle for the Nintendo Switch. We talk briefly about fake news in the video game world and Donna's disdain for lists and critics. In the news Terra Battle 2 is coming to mobile platforms. Randy Pitchford has given an update on Borderlands 3 and also believes that the art style in the game has limited the audience (which is wrong). And Nintendo has just announced a bunch of new indie titles. Could this be the push the Switch needs? Finally, for our topic of the day, we discuss our gaming habits and traditions. As always, you can follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. If you want to get ahold of us, send us an email at superbscast@gmail.com and please feel free to rate and review us on iTunes and Apple podcasts. We would greatly appreciate it. Welcome back to the Super BS Gamescast! We have a very special episode for you today, featuring a very special return to form with the original cast. That's right, after a long hiatus due to some medical issues Donna has returned! So what have we been playing? I'm glad you asked. Donna has been playing Final Fantasy IV and Bastion. And because we've never talked about it, we go into detail about why Donna hates Final Fantasy the After Years. Brian got his hands on Undertale and apparently it's pretty awesome. Josh has been playing Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and goes into detail about what sets it apart from the main Uncharted series. Dave wasn't able to join us for this episode so . . . of course we talked about Final Fantasy some more. Ubisoft and Square-Enix have announced a crossover into each other's games. That's right, Final Fantasy XV will have an Assassin's Creed festival with special armor and campaign missions and allegedly, Assassin's Creed: Origins will have something similar. Also, straight from Games-Con, there's a pocket version of Final Fantasy XV coming out. To close things out, we go into our favorite RPGs and why we loved them. All this and more on this episode of the Super BS Gamescast. Don't forget to email us at superbscast@gmail.com and check us out on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
After tackling Metroid in season 1 and then Halo in season 2, Game Informer's Video Gameography podcast turns its gaze to one of Sony's biggest properties: Uncharted. Season 3 officially comes to a close with our discussion of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Released August 22, 2017 – less than a year after Uncharted 4 – Lost Legacy puts Chloe Frazer in the starring role for the first time. She's not alone, however; former antagonist Nadine Ross partners with her, leading to an odd-couple-style treasure hunt that may be shorter than Uncharted 4 but was just as entertaining. Prior to this, Naughty Dog batted around other combinations of characters for this adventure including Sully and Sam Drake. How did the team turn The Lost Legacy around so quickly after A Thief's End? What's the deal with that "wimpy" train explosion? Listen here to hear the answers to these questions and more. Join hosts Marcus Stewart (@MarcusStewart7), Ben Reeves (@BenjaminReeves), and former Game Informer intern O'Dell Harmon Jr. (@ODellHarmonJr) as we unpack the history and narrative of the final Uncharted game to date. Tune to also find out the game series that will be the topic for Season 4! If you'd like to get in touch with the Video Gameography podcast, you can email us at podcast@gameinformer.com. You can also join our official Game Informer Discord server by linking your Discord account to your Twitch account and subscribing to the Game Informer Twitch channel. On this episode of Attack the Backlog, Marc gets fast and furious as they run, swing, and climb their way through the jungles and ruins of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, the standalone follow-up to Uncharted 4 where you play as Chloe Frazer instead of Nathan Drake and team up with Nadine Ross instead of Sully for some good ol' fashioned adventuring. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy originally came out on August 22nd, 2017 for PS4 and that’s it. Anyway, something-something, best played on Baby Mode, well, don't you know, that final sequence made me go, "Whoa!," cheers and enjoy the...wait for it...show! What do an old school platformer, Devil May Cry and Chloe Fraser have in common? Nothing really other than they're all parts of this week's games! We review Sonic Mania on the Nintendo Switch, the latest Sonic game which melds the best of the best together into one neat little package. We also review Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. This game is from the creators of Devil May Cry and is considered a AAA indie game. It's 1 part walking simulator, 1 part fighting game and 1 part awesome. Then we have the game we've all been looking forward to...Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. In this game, we play as Chloe Fraser with our sidekick Nadine from Uncharted 4. It's still a blast of a game and we share our insight. In our news segment, we talk about Microsoft in talks with Sony on crossplay, a new game reveal, some updates for Splatoon 2 and the HTC Vive price drop. Then Bethesda dropped the price of Brink because "why not?" Our discussion this week is on two big conventions. One was in our home of Dallas/Fort Worth: Quakecon 2017. It's the biggest LAN party around and we attended to check out what games they had to offer (included Wolfenstein 2), the competitions and of course the amazing PC rigs.
