While the initial alpha versions of Hello Neighbor were received positively, the final product was met with largely negative reviews. The gameplay, control scheme and technical performance have been heavily criticized, though the story, the story elements and the art style were praised. The game spawned a franchise, beginning with a prequel, Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek, released in December 2018. Two multiplayer spin-offs, Secret Neighbor and Hello Engineer, were released in October 2019 and October 2021, respectively. A standalone sequel, Hello Neighbor 2, was released on December 6, 2022.

In other news, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is out now in Japan, but if you bought the physical edition you might have a confusing time installing the game. That's because the 'play' and 'install' discs are labeled wrong. Whoops. And finally, Skull & Bones is apparently doing well according to Ubisoft, who are reporting "record player engagement." But we don't have any sales data for the game yet, so it could be like 20 people playing that game all day.

It's hard to believe, but over a hundred episodes have transpired since Tom and Chris took a stab at the first game, so when the Xbox Game Pass “Surprise Me” button selected the sequel developed by Netherlands-based Eerie Guest Studios as the subject of this episode, both felt it was safe to acquiesce to the whims of their virtual co-conspirator. While some new Xbox Game Pass game additions are a surprise, other games are confirmed to be day one titles well in advance and November is going to be one of those months.
