Today's readings.. (Joshua 11), (Isaiah 15), (2 Timothy 1)The final letter of the Apostle Paul was his second letter to Timothy. His opening verses after his usual greeting is to write of Timothy's faith. Note how he expresses it, “I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.” [Ch.1 v.5] We know nothing of his father, except he was a Greek, although his mother was a Jewess (Acts 16 v.1).What a lesson this is of the valuable role of women in their commitment to Christ and the inspiration they can give to children and grandchildren, we know well the commitment that was obviously in the women who went to the tomb on the morning of the resurrection. In the next verse Paul writes, “For this reason (your faith) I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands” [v.6]. A “sincere faith” is an essential ingredient in any natural abilities and talents we have. In those days abilities or gifts were given by Apostles such as Paul. His first letter to the Corinthians illustrates the range of such abilities, many of which we would see as “natural” – such as wisdom and knowledge (1 Cor. 12 v.8] Paul desires “especially that you may prophesy.” [14 v.1] which means, to reveal God's attitude and purpose, not necessarily to predict the future – this is evident in the Old Testament prophets such as Jeremiah. Today God's word should “fan into flame” our desire to use our various abilities to do as much work as we can for our Lord.Back in the letter to Timothy we noted the next 2 verses (7 & 8) “for God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power and love and self control. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord …” In so many countries in the world the message of Christ is now held in low regard, so it is now more necessary than ever to develop this spirit of strength of mind to enhance our “sincere faith” and follow in the footsteps of Timothy. How would someone who knows you well write about your faith?

In this message, Pastor Jon walks through one of the most detailed and often overlooked sections of the Bible—the tabernacle—and shows how it answers that exact question. What once required layers of sacrifice, separation, and ritual has now been completely fulfilled in Jesus. Step by step, every element points to a God who didn't stay distant but made a way to come near. This isn't abstract theology—it's deeply practical for anyone who's ever wondered where they stand with God.
ISAIAH'S PROPHECY of a coming, Messiah included for seeing where Jesus would declare war on the fallen realm. Chapter 9 of the book of Isaiah picks up where the prophet left off, condemning the people of Israel, for consulting the dead on behalf of the living. His prophecy that a light would shine on those dwelling in a land of deep darkness was cited by Matthew as fulfilled when Jesus moved from Nazareth to Capernaum. We connect this to Psalm 23 in the valley of the shadow of death, which in our view is the Jordan River Valley between Mount Hermon and the Sea of Galilee. Isaiah 9 also includes the prophecy of a coming Savior who is called “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isa. 9:6). We discussed the interesting rendering of this verse in the Lexham English Septuagint, in which “Wonderful Counselor” is translated “Messenger of the Great Council.” The second half of this chapter is devoted to God's judgment on the northern Kingdom of Israel, which was fulfilled when the Assyrians overran and conquered Samaria in 722 BC.Here is a link to a PDF copy of the R. H. Charles translation of The Ascension of Isaiah (link opens PDF document).

Send us a textWhat kind of Christmas season are you having this year, friends? Is it a Godless secular Christmas or a supernatural one? Is this Christmas one of feelings, warmth, drinking some spicy drink and getting wasted, a little high, or even drunk? One where our awe comes from materialism; the latest gadget, toy, gift and so on.Or, Is this Christmas season a supernatural one - one which celebrates an Eternal, All-powerful God, the intelligent mind behind this gigantic cosmos, this massive universe we live in. The One who created us with such amazing design and intricacy in His image, to reflect His character, His goodness, His love and His integrity. This mighty God whobbeviadr of his love gor us chose to limit himself and be born of a peasant teenager called Mary in an obscure village in Palestine? When we think about how Mary became pregnant, where and how Jesus was born, how he immersed himself into human suffering in the 1st few hours of his life even surviving an attempt on his life, are we not awestruck? As human beings we are designed to be awestruck. The mountains, deserts, big cats in the zoo or safari parks etc But most importantly we are meant to be awestruck by the All-powerful God who does not cease to amaze us If we begin to imagine and consider all these things. When we begin to grasp the enormity of all these, awe begins to grow within us. God humbling himself to become a human being is a supernatural event - an awesome, awe-inspiring one. How have you satisfied or plan to satisfy this awe? Who are you awestruck by this Christmas? We continue to bring to prayer our brothers and sisters who have died especially Pedro, Syvester, Lydia and all our loved ones who have died. May God welcome them all into the peace of God's kingdom. Support the show

(2) He was in the beginning with God. Lord Jesus Christ – was the Word – existed before the beginning – already there The Word was with God – intimately face to face with the Father - Philippians 2:6 …who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, The Word was God - John 1:10-11 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. (11) He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. The Word – Jesus Christ is The Creator (vs. 3) John 1:3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. Colossians 1:16-17 (16) For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things were created through him and for him. (17) And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:14-15 (14) in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (15) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. Revelation 4:11 NLT "You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created everything, and it is for your pleasure that they exist and were created." The Word – is Life and Light for All Mankind (vs. 4-5) John 1:4-5 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. (5) The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. NET – “In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind.” In Him was LIFE (zoe- spiritual life, eternal life, quality of life) 54x in Gospel The Word is the source of all life – zoe vs. bios This life is the LIGHT of men, -- spiritual light as well as natural light. Not the Word “contains” life and light; He is life and light. That life was light. It illuminates, shines. 21x light in John John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.: translated “did not comprehend it.” Comprehend: laying hold on something to make it one's own. Affects everyone (vs9) Every person has light that makes them responsible. Men love darkness rather than light. John 3:19 describes the state of our world and the heart of mankind. The Word – Became Flesh & Dwelt Among Us (vs. 3) John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. One of the greatest miracles – God became flesh – born of a virgin Prophesied in the OT – Isaiah 9:6-7, Micah 5:2-4 He became flesh for YOU! Jesus, the eternal Word and true Light, entered our spiritually dark world to give life to all who believe. Though many reject Him, those who receive Him become God's children. This Christmas, remember His love, walk in His light, and proclaim Christ so others may be led from darkness into His life and joy. Listen to Pastor Joseph Heng's sermon from John 1:1 to 18.

Sam reviewed the previous One God Report podcast (#148) called“The Word became Flesh (Sustenance): A Metaphorical Interpretation of"Flesh". In this current podcast I dialog with Sam about two of hismain points:1. Is the “became flesh” language of John 1:14 to be associated with mainstreamChristianity's “Eucharist”and2. Should or could John 1:14 be understood and translated as“the Word became flesh and dwelt IN us”, that is, not “among us”. At twenty-two, Jennifer Cramer-Miller was thrilled with her new job, charming boyfriend, and Seattle apartment. After she received a devastating autoimmune diagnosis, she soaked a hospital pillow with tears and grappled with words like “progressive” and “incurable.” Unwillingly, she crossed over from thriving to kidney failure. Her chances of survival hinged upon the expertise of doctors, the generosity of strangers, and the benevolence of loved ones. But what kind of life would that be? Jennifer Cramer-Miller is an author and speaker who focuses on stories of hope.
