Crystal Rivers | Open Book | Oct 14, 2025 You possess something extraordinary: the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, who grants you unlimited access to every spiritual reality that Christ's blood has purchased. This is not a distant hope but your present reality. In the Old Testament, the tabernacle was divided into three distinct areas: the outer court, the holy place, and the most holy place (also called the holiest of all). Only the high priest could enter the most holy place where God's presence dwelt, and even then, just once a year, carrying the blood of sacrifices to obtain temporary atonement for Israel's sins. The outer court was where sacrifices occurred and where people dealt with their sins through repeated rituals. But something radical happened when Christ died and rose again. When you received Jesus as your Savior—not through religious activity or church membership, but through genuine repentance from your old nature and believing in His death and resurrection—you were immediately transported in the spirit realm into the holy place and the most holy place. This happens at the moment of salvation, not gradually over time. Here's what this means: The outer court represents the place of salvation itself, where the sacrifice occurs. Once you've received Christ, you don't remain there in endless cycles of repentance and sin-consciousness. You've been qualified by Christ's blood and conveyed into the kingdom of God. The New Testament writers don't even recognize the outer court as part of God's house for believers. It's been left for those who don't truly know God—those still trapped in worldly thinking and repetitive sin patterns. **Your Access to the Most Holy Place** Scripture commands you to come boldly—not timidly, not with inferiority, not weighed down by sin-consciousness—to the throne of grace. Christ has already entered the most holy place on your behalf. When He ascended to heaven after His resurrection, He presented His blood to the Father and sat down at God's right hand. Because He is there representing you, you are positionally there with Him. You have been raised up together with Christ and seated together with Him in heavenly places. This is where David's tabernacle becomes significant. When David brought the ark of the covenant back to Israel, he did something revolutionary: he opened it for all Israel to see, breaking the old pattern. This foreshadowed the present age where the dividing wall between the holy place and the most holy place has been removed for believers. You now have direct access to both simultaneously. **Why This Matters for Your Daily Life** You must consciously engage with this reality. In the holy place, you feed on the showbread—the spiritual truths and doctrines of Christ that nourish your understanding. In the most holy place, you commune directly with the Father, beholding His face, fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit, and drinking in His presence. This isn't optional for spiritual growth—it's essential. You cannot be transformed outside of this conscious participation. The purpose of functioning in these dimensions while you're still on earth is so you can be changed, perfected, and conformed into the exact image of Christ. As you behold Him with an unveiled face, you are metamorphosed from glory to glory into His likeness. **The Race and the Measurement** There's a specific goal you're running toward. Scripture speaks of reaching "the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ"—a divine standard that determines your position in eternity. In the book of Revelation, an angel measures the New Jerusalem, which is actually the bride of Christ—believers who have been perfected. The measurement taken is described as "the measure of a man, that is, of an angel." This reveals something profound: through this process of transformation, you are being changed into something beyond ordinary humanity. Scripture says that in the day of testing and persecution, even the weak among God's people will become like David, and those who are already strong will be like God, like the angel of the Lord. You are being prepared to function not merely as a human being but as one who bears the complete image and nature of Christ—faultless, perfected, reflecting His glory. **Living From This Reality Now** Stop living as though you're still in the outer court, constantly battling with sin-consciousness and repeated repentance. You've been delivered from that realm. Yes, you deal with sin when it arises, but your identity is not found in your struggle—it's found in your position in Christ. You are already dead to sin and alive to God. Reckon this to yourself: account it, calculate it, establish it in your thinking. When challenges come—sickness, attacks, fears—don't respond from a place of spiritual inferiority. You have already tasted death in Christ. He died once for all, and so have you. Death no longer has dominion. Sin no longer has dominion. You possess eternal life—not as a future promise only, but as a present reality working in you now through the Spirit. **Your Eternal Inheritance** What you acquire during your time on earth—not material possessions, but spiritual maturity and Christ-likeness—determines your position in the world to come. That eternal city, the New Jerusalem, is not a place of endless worship services alone. It's the dwelling place of God among His people who have been perfected and who function in the enterprise of God throughout eternity. Only those who reach that divine measurement will inhabit the innermost places of that city. This is why you cannot afford to be passive or distracted. Pursue this maturity with intensity. Labor in fellowship with God. Let the Holy Spirit, who is your teacher and comforter, guide you into all truth. He works within you, cultivating resurrection power, revealing Christ, and transforming you from the inside out. You are not merely a forgiven sinner hoping to make it to heaven someday. You are a child of God, positioned in the most holy place, being perfected into the image of Christ, destined to reflect His glory as one who is like God Himself. This is your heritage, your calling, and your race. Run it with understanding, boldness, and unwavering faith. Zoom every weekday : http://www.caveadullam.org/zoom

Today we return to our Collide series with the final sermon "Holy of Holies."  This refers to the central room of the tabernacle.  Not even all the priests could enter here; this room was reserved only for the high priest, and even he could only enter once per year.  Being in this room meant being directly in the presence of God.  But now, WE have access to be in God's presence, because of Jesus' sacrifice -- how?  Through praise.

All Temples give God's blueprint for us as His ultimate Temples. Man fell into sin & lost God's Presence, but He's restoring us to be His Temples – He'll dwell within us & shine out of us forever. All the different Temples encode different aspects of His ultimate Temple, each providing a piece of the puzzle. We get the whole picture by putting together the revelation from them all. (1) Our SPIRIT = HOLY of HOLIES, (2) our SOUL = HOLY PLACE, (3) our BODY = OUTER COURT. We're made with His THRONE in our SPIRIT to live under His authority. When we receive Christ & He's enthroned within us, we discover our true identity, ability & personality, for His Spirit of grace flows from His throne to fill & transform our souls & empower us to do His will & be fruitful. Christ is the perfect human Temple; God was enthroned in His spirit and His Spirit filled His soul & flowed out of Him. But we were born spiritually dead, so His Spirit did not indwell us. Christ came to make us into true Temples, like Him. So, He died as our SIN OFFERING to take away our sins, and as our BURNT OFFERING to give us His perfect righteousness. Mercy Seat = ‘Place of Propitiation' where God's righteous judgment is fully satisfied by the Blood. He sees the Blood & declares us forgiven, so He's now free to bless us. Once the blood was sprinkled on the mercy seat & accepted by God, Israel came under mercy for another year. But she had to repeat this ritual every year signifying man's sin wasn't yet put away (Heb 10:1-4). Christ accomplished this (Heb 10:5-10). So, Tabernacle rituals pictured what Christ would accomplish in establishing the New Covenant in His Blood in the Heavenly Temple, and activating it in His redeemed human Temples (Heb 9:7-12). As the High Priest, He offered Himself as the final Sacrifice and took His Blood into the heavenly Holy of Holies, and sprinkled it on God's Throne, the Mercy Seat, as full payment for our sin & every blessing of grace (Heb 4:16). His Blood in Heaven ever speaks on our behalf, and is the basis for the everlasting New Covenant (Heb 12:22-24). Having done this, He sat down to signify His finished work, and entered into His work as Mediator of the New Covenant for His people (Heb 1:3, 10:11-12, 9:23-26). The Heavenly Temple is an image of God's ultimate Temple (Man), so when we receive Christ, He also sprinkles us with His Blood & sanctifies us to Himself (1Pet 1:2, Heb 9:13-14). By His Spirit, He entered our holy of holies, and applied His Blood to our spirit, cleansing it from all sin & sanctifying it to Himself, making it a perfect new creation, and then sits enthroned there by His indwelling Spirit, to mediate the new covenant in our lives. This happened at our New Birth. He activated the New Covenant in us, so we're now under grace. We became a functioning Temple. Having sprinkled & cleansed us with His Blood (Heb 9:13-14), He now brings us into our inheritance (v15). It's a Throne of Grace, for the Lamb's Blood has been accepted by God on our behalf, and He sits at God's right hand dispensing His River of Grace to us (Rev 22:1-2). This also pictures us as Temples, with Christ enthroned as Lord in our spirit, releasing His river of grace from His throne in our spirit, flowing down into our heart & life. The trees = thoughts & emotions in our soul. As we trust in Christ who lives in us, and submit to His Lordship, we receive His river of blessing into our hearts. When God entered the Tabernacle, He sat in His glory, enthroned on the Mercy Seat above the Ark of the Covenant in the Holy of Holies, and there He met with Moses & spoke with him (Ex 25:21-22). Likewise, He sits on the throne in our spirit, His base of operation in us. 3 items in the HOLY PLACE (Heb 9:1-4) = our SOUL: *(1) MENORAH = our MIND, illuminated by the oil of His Spirit. *(2) TABLE of SHOWBREAD (‘the Bread of the Presence') = our EMOTIONS, kept ever fresh from God's Presence, shining from the Holy of Holies. *(3) The ALTAR of INCENSE next to the Holy of Holies = our HEART or WILL, at the deepest part of our soul, called the Golden Censer (‘the Place of Incense') in Heb 9:4, where it's described as belonging to the holy of holies. Thus, our HEART is the junction & connection between our SPIRIT & SOUL, receiving God's life from the spirit, so that it flows into our soul (Heb 4:12, John 7:38). By God's design, the heart should be under the spirit's control, so a worshipping heart is necessary to receive God's grace into our souls. As we submit our hearts into God's Hand (the Holy Spirit), He can guide & empower us (Prov 21:1). To reign in life, put our heart into His Hand (His Spirit), who manifests in us as rivers of living water. In the Holy of Holies was the Ark of the Covenant containing 3 items, hidden under the Throne (under His control) = 3 aspects of God's grace, He wants to release into our soul by His Spirit: (1) the Tablets of the Covenant, (2) Aaron's Almond Rod that budded, and (3) the Golden Pot of Manna (Heb 9:3-5)

God's rest is not about inactivity but the completion of His purpose and the establishment of His reign. The Tabernacle in the wilderness served as God's dwelling place among the Israelites, guiding their journey with His presence visible as a cloud by day and fire by night. Moses refused to move without God's presence, understanding that true rest comes from alignment with God's direction. Today, many Christians experience burnout because they've removed themselves from God's rest, trying to accomplish things in their own strength rather than making God the center of their lives. As living temples of God's Spirit, we are called to recenter our lives around His presence.God's rest and God's reign cannot be separated - they are synonymous. Where God rests, He also rules.Biblical rest is not passive inactivity but the seat of authority and the command center from which God directs victory. The Tabernacle shows us that God desires to be at the center of our lives, with everything else arranged around His presence.Burnout often happens not because we work too hard, but because we've stepped outside of God's rest and try to live under our own authority.Wherever God rests, His people advance - our victories flow from Christ enthroned in our hearts.Support the show

Derek Walker explores the significance of Temples, focusing on the first 3 Temples on the earthly Mount Zion, pointing out the connections between the heavenly and earthly Temples. After God moved into the Tabernacle, He promised He would lead them to a holy Mountain of His choosing where His Sanctuary would be established. God had already set apart Mount Moriah, later called Mount Zion, when Abraham offered up Isaac on Mount Moriah (Genesis 22) and God promised that He would offer up His Son in that place (v8,14). From that time Mt. Moriah was God's ordained place of Sacrifice. Later David establish his capital in Jerusalem, and God revealed to him the location and plans for the Temple, especially the Holy of Holies, and the Altar (on Ornan's threshing floor) on Mount Moriah, to the north and above the City of David (1Chronicles 21-22). Later Solomon build the Temple there (2Chronicles 23:1) and it was filled with God's glory at its Dedication. It was destroyed by the Babylonians 432 years later because of Israel's idolatry, and rebuilt 70 years later in the same place as the 2nd Temple, which was later beautified by Herod the Great. This was the Temple in the time of Jesus, but was destroyed by the Romans in AD 70, because of Israel's rejection of Christ. There will also be a 3rd Temple of God on Mount Zion in the future (the Tribulation Temple), which God will use as a final outreach to Israel as well as the world, especially through the 2 witnesses. After 3.5 years the antichrist will desecrate it with the Abomination of Desolation (Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15, 2Thessalonians 2, Revelation 11). There will also be a 4th Temple on Mount Zion in the Millennium (Isaiah 2:1-4, Ezekiel 40-48).

To be in and enjoy a right relationship with God is life and life eternal. But Genesis 3, we sinned. Sin makes us entirely not like God and His presence, His heaven. It makes us a life in rebellion. Sin is not just rules we broke, but nature of unholy rebellion. How can the very unholy come into the Holy? When you hear David say, 'Lord,' don’t hear a title or a salutation. Hear a cry from the depths of his soul. Who, my Lord, can dwell with you? Who can enjoy intimacy with their Creator? And then we get an answer, ten actually. Up the carpenter went to Jerusalem, knowing full well why. It was time, HIS time, the time, the eternal time as appointed when a world changing event would happen. It was to be the end of his earthly journey, a time for the transition between the Jesus of history and the Christ of Glory. There came that time in the Garden of Gethsemane where he went to pray. He asked his disciples to participate, to watch with him, to stay awake with him. Not knowing the incredible events about to happen, they slept. But the Master prayed, communed with the Father. How wonderful the humanity of Jesus the Christ in Gethsemane. As man, he knew the incredible suffering and agony to come, the crucifixion which would happen and he prayed to the Father:LET THIS CUP PASS FROM MELet there be another way to introduce your love and saving grace rather than crucifixion. But the answer was clear, the plan in place. There would be no change.Perhaps that was the greatest expression and revelation of the WILL of God at work. The plan of salvation would begin with Him, Jesus of Nazareth so that all men might know that He was indeed the SON OF GOD.And so, in blessed surrender, the soon to be Christ of Glory uttered this incredible prayer:NOT MY WILL BUT THY WILL BE DONEOn earth even as it is in heaven. He was ready, and willing.Jesus of Nazareth loved Jerusalem as all Jews do. There stood the temple, the holiest place on earth to the Jews, the earthly abiding place of the HOLY OF HOLIES. It was ordained so by the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and it was the place, the center for the longing, the love and the passion of all Jews. Jerusalem, the one and only Jerusalem, the City of David.Jesus of Nazareth poured out His love on the city and its people so very special to him. He passionately lamented how he would love to take the city and its people under his wing and to show them what he firmly believed was the way, the truth, and the life, allnew things. There would be from God through him a new creation possible, all thingsand people born again, a fresh and vital spirituality. But before these new gifts fromGod could become universal, a tragic and horrific event must occur followed by themost miraculous and wonderful event in the history of mankind.HE had dined in Jerusalem with his disciples, a loving Last Supper to commemoratethe event to come, the celebration of his body and his blood. That communion of thedisciples and the Lord, that spiritual fellowship celebrated vicariously with bread andwine, was the end event for them but only the beginning of a lifelong celebration for us.Roman soldiers found him in Gethsemane. There came the mockery of trial andinterrogation before Pilate and Herod. The world knows of the hands–washing, therefusal to make the decision of death for a just and innocent man and the offering tothe people of a choice between Jesus of Nazareth and a convicted criminal. The crowdof course chose the criminal. Then came the walk to the cross, the VIA DOLOROSA, the way of sorrow still todaycommemorated in Jerusalem by the 12 Stations of the Cross. When His cross becametoo heavy to bear, another carried it for him. Crowds lined the way, watching andlistening, some mocking, some wailing, all perhaps sensing this was no ordinary mannor would there be any ordinary crucifixion. But none could know that the world couldchange. And so, the cruelest and most brutal death possible occurred for an innocent man, apublic crucifixion. Roman soldiers nailed Jesus of Nazareth to that wooden cross. It seems ironic indeed, does it not, that a man who lived and worked with wood died abrutal death on wood itself. He hung on that cross for hours, a criminal on each side. The sky grew dark and itwas as though the earth and all in it mourned. The Christ of Glory hung in utteragony, and the horrific pain he experienced caused Him to utter these unforgettablewords:MY GOD, MY GOD WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN MEWHY?So alone, in utter agony, feeling even that the FATHER had forsaken Him. It isimpossible to know how He felt, how awful that death must have been for Him. But Hewas man, human. We as humans like him can understand the cruelty of man and thesuffering and agony he suffered in death as many of us have. HE took on the sufferingof mankind on that Golgotha Hill. So many who loved him watched, mourned andprayed, never really knowing that this tragic crucifixion would turn into a gloriousResurrection. It seemed indeed that in that darkest moment, God Himself had departed, forsaken.Perhaps it was, as some scholars think that this Holy God could not look upon theultimate and tragic event as they were laid on him the sins of the world. On that cross, in the blood and tortured flesh of the body of the Son of God, in that death unto sin were in fact the sins of the world, all of them and all of ours. That final bloody act of remission and propitiation had to be finished. There had to be that tumultuous and cataclysmic collision of worlds, when heaven and earth became one through Him. For hours, He suffered in agony and pain. His precious body was exposed, mutilated and mocked. He was crowned in the ultimate sarcasm with a crown of thorns to mock the claim of:KING OF THE JEWS.Roman soldiers taunted him, challenging him to use His miraculous powers to come down from the cross, laughing all the while. They cast lots for his garments and treated in cavalier style this world changing event as ordinary, the crucifixion and death of yet another fanatic, yet another would be Messiah as there were so many of them in that day. Never could these men know what would happen on the third day.And so He died and as He was removed from the cross, there came mercifully and lovingly Joseph of Arimathea to claim the body, something which rarely happened in early Roman times, so that Jesus of Nazareth could be buried in His very own tomb. And there He lay as all who knew him, loved, followed and believed in Him mourned. There was perhaps that day a sense of no hope, the law so tragic that HE would never be replaced. Like doubting Thomas, none really believed what would happen that third day.But on that third day, they hurried, they ran to the tomb, the women did. They were so anxious lovingly to attend His body. Instead, they found in the tomb the Angel of the Lord. The stone which had covered the tomb had been rolled back. The event was so terrifying it overwhelmed the Roman guards. The women announced that they had come looking for Jesus of Nazareth, He who had been crucified, buried and laid in this tomb. They demanded to know who took His body. But the Angel of the Lord said to them, words which would change the world:HE IS NOT HERE HE IS RISENHE IS ALIVE. Death as we know it had no power over Him. For millions, that is impossible for us to believe. But for us who do and especially those of us never having seen, heard or been in His physical presence, we who believe the truth and reality of the Resurrection are entitled to the power and the eternal victory over death even as it was with Him. Even as He returned to the Father, so shall we at our appointed time be with Him and the Father as well. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is not a myth, not symbolic, but the most real event in all of human history. The Apostle Paul states that the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most fundamental event, the crux of Christianity. If, says Paul, there was no Resurrection, then Christianity is a farce and more importantly our FAITH is in vain. If the Resurrection was myth, or symbolic and not real, actual, factual, a bodily resurrection, then our faith is in vain. But thank the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, as Paul did, that the Resurrection was real, it endures with everlasting power even now and for allveternity. OUR FAITH IS NOT IN VAIN. The tomb was empty and the empty lives of all mankind could now be filled with the power of this incredible resurrection. The words again which changed the world:HE IS NOT HERE! HE IS RISEN!And so came the Resurrection witness. The resurrected and risen Christ was seen, heard, touched, and otherwise fully experienced as living once again. There were those who doubted, demanding proof. They touched the nail pierced hands and the side pierced with that Roman spear. And they said with the words of doubting Thomas:MY LORD AND MY GODTheir eyes were opened and they recognized Him. They fellowshipped with Him and ate with Him. And He said to them “why are you disturbed and troubled.” Why do such doubts and questionings arise in your hearts? He told them to see His hands and feet and know that it is I MYSELF. No mere spirit, He said, has flesh and bones as I have. His disciples were filled with sheer joy and marvel. Their minds were open to understand Him and the Scriptures. Now said the Resurrected Christ, you are witnesses of these things. Go and preach this wonderful event and our message to all nations. He blessed them and sent them.GO YE, He said, into all of the world and preach the Gospel to everyman, to the Jew first but then to the Gentiles. TO ALL MANKIND. The saving power of the Resurrection was for everyone. So many of us doubt in some ways even today. We see through a glass darkly, said Paul. Our understanding of these things is limited, human here and now. But hereafter, we will know, really know when we see HIM:FACE TO FACEBlessed are those who have never seen and believe! There is nothing in this world like this belief, the outpouring of the saving grace of the Resurrection. The power of life and life eternal through Him is the most powerful force on earth. It comes by acceptance and an open heart, the outpouring of this transforming love. It has been my blessing and I hope and pray that you have had such an encounter with THE LIVING CHRIST, that you have experienced the forgiveness of the cross and that you have accepted and believed in the power of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. That is Easter, that is what Easter means. It is life anew, one born again. A decision to encounter is the most important decision any person can make. It changes life here and it creates life hereafter. It allows the unfolding of the Kingdom of God now and fellowship in that Kingdom for eternity. We become ONE WITH HIM now, and then forevermore. And so, we who believe sing on Easter Sunday and all year long:CHRIST THE LORD IS RISEN TODAYHALLELUJAH!Let the heavens and the earth sing with joy and praise and fill the mind and heart with the power and love of the Resurrection. May the meaning of Easter be with you always, and firmly fasten in your mind the words of the angel, the Messenger of God who stated to those women so many years ago and consequently to all mankind:HE IS NOT HERE!HE IS RISEN!Christ the Lord is in fact risen and our faith is not only NOT in vain but the greatest thing in life. As He was with them in those days following His Resurrection, so He will be with us. His words to that effect are unforgettable.HEAR ME!I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS!EVEN UNTO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH!Christ is Risen!HALLELUJAH!
