Sin entered the world because Adam and Eve doubted the truth and listened to the wrong voice. God reveals his plan to save humanity even while cursing the earth, foreshadowing the one who would crush the serpent. Temptation of Christ Once again, Satan attempts to plant doubt; "If you are the Son of God..." Adam gave away authority to Satan by doubting the Word of God. Jesus reclaims that authority when he responds to temptation with the word of God. Deuteronomy 8:1-3 Matthew 16:21-23 The Final Temptation of Christ Throughout his life, Jesus is repeatedly tempted to abandon the cross and thus abandon God's plan to redeem humanity. Throughout his life, Jesus is repeatedly tempted to abandon the cross and thus abandon God's plan to redeem humanity. The mental torment Jesus faced is finally revealed at Gethsemane. Facing the cross, Jesus is "overwhelmed with sorrow" yet submits to his Father's will. Matthew 26:36-41 Adam's Fate As a result of his sin, Adam found himself standing naked and trembling before God, having to answer for his sin. He was also expelled from the garden, the place of God's presence. The same fate awaits all who follow Adam's lead. 1 Corinthians 15: 21-22 The Serpent Has Been Crushed The cycle of temptation, sin, and death is broken thanks to Christ's triumph at the cross.

The lips of the godly speak helpful words, but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words. - Prov 10 v 32 The Birth of Jesus - Matt 1 v 18-21 - NLT The meaning of his name Jesus is the human name given to Mary by the angel Gabriel. Christ is His title, that signifies or reminds us he was sent from God to be a King and Deliverer. The Hebrew name of Jesus is “Yeshua” which mean “God saves”. “Christ” comes from the Greek word Christos, meaning “anointed one” or “chosen one.” This is the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew word Mashiach, or “Messiah.” – John 1 v 40 The name of Jesus is important because of its meaning and because of whom it represents. The birth of Jesus Christ in this world was to fulfill a divine purpose and his name bears witness to that mission. ……………for he will save his people from their sins.” His purpose was to save people from the shackles of empty life we inherited from our ancestors (1 Peter 1 v 18) Rom 3 v 23 – For all has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. 1 John 1 v 10 - 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts. Rom 5 v 19 – Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous. The Will of God - Jesus Christ - He came to fulfill the will of God. John 6 v 39-40 -  38 For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will. 39 And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day. 40 For it is my Father's will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day.” 2 Peter 3 v 9 - The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.  Ezekiel 18 v 23 -“Do you think that I like to see wicked people die? says the Sovereign Lord. Of course not! One son born according to God's promise: Isaac, fulfilling God's covenant promise to Abraham (Genesis 17:19, 21). Ishmael born according to works: A representation of human effort to solve God's plan without trusting His timing (Galatians 4:23). Isaac born because Abraham and Sarah believed God's promise: A testament to faith in God's power and faithfulness (Romans 4:20-21; Hebrews 11:11-12). Law Vs Grace: Galatians 4:21(NKJV)- Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law? What is Law? The law is God's divine instructions to reveal His will, define right and wrong, and guide humanity toward righteousness and relationship with Him. What is Grace? The unmerited favor and kindness of God, given freely to humanity, not because of anything we have done, but because of His love, mercy, and generosity. It is through grace that we receive salvation, forgiveness, and blessings, despite being undeserving. Two Sons; Two Covenants; One Choice Ephesians 2:8-9:

What Miracles were performed by Jesus as recorded in the “gospel of Matthew” 8 : 1-34? Leper Cleansed, Mathew 8: 1-4 Servant Healed - Centurion, Mathew 8: 5-13 Fever Cured – Peter's Mother-in-law, Mathew 8:14-15 Demons Cast - Many, Mathew 8:16-17 Storm Calmed, Mathew 8:23-27 Restored Two Demons-Possessed Men. Mathew 8: 28-32 What were the notable similarities in most of the Miracles? –Matthew 8:1-34 Faith required, Divine authority, Compassion shown, Instant results and Jesus's power demonstrated. What were the notable differences in some of the Miracles? –Matthew 8:1-34 Physical touch Distance healing Natural forces addressed Jesus Christ - Cleansing the Leper. Matthew 8:1-4; Luke 5:12-14; Mark 1:40-45; Significance. The leper was “full of leprosy”, not just partially leprous. Leprosy is a picture of sin. We were once fully leprous, being dead in our sins. But Jesus drew us to Himself, and we were cleansed when we believed in Him as our Lord and Savior. Lepers were untouchables, physical contact with them might expose one to infection and under Law ceremonially unclean (Leviticus 13:44-46). For the Jews, they become unfit to worship with congregation of Isreal. Jesus completely healed the leper. Our Savor has power to cleanse (WHOEVER Believe and Accept) and from sin and qualify us to worship – Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Mathew 11:28 Jesus Proved HIS Willingness To touch a leper was dangerous medically, Religiously defiling and Socially degrading, Jesus contracted no defilement. Jesus could have just spoken a word and healed the leper without touching him By touching him, Jesus proved that He was willing to cleanse him, and yet Jesus never became uncleaned. Other kings may have chosen to heal leper from a distance if they could. Jesus Could but choose to touch. Jesus Breaking Barriers Jesus' finished work at the cross is greater than Adam's sin (Romans 5:15-19). Jesus is greater than the Levitical priesthood — He became our great High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 7:21-28). Jesus Christ - Healing the Centurion's Servant. Matthew 8:5-13, Luke 7:1-10 You Have Authority from God Notice that the centurion said he was a man under authority who had been given authority over soldiers. He used what he could relate with to process his faith in Jesus. Absolute Trust and Faith in Jesus. The centurion believed that Jesus was empowered to heal by a higher authority, “God”, (Jesus' spoken words were like soldiers sent forth to prosper in the command they received). Once Spoken by God – It is “Settled” Jesus declared that it would happen as the centurion believed. We must get to this place in our heart where we believe what God says. Without the Law condemning him and making him feel unworthy, he just had great faith in Jesus, without any doubt that all things were possible to Jesus — even healing by just speaking a word. Our Part The multitudes came to hear Jesus first, before getting healed — Faith comes by hearing the word of Christ (Romans 10:17). If we still have unbelief, keep hearing about Jesus and how God's love is manifested through Him— Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” Mark 9:24

Living for God - John 1:19-28 - Nick Hansen - November 24th, 2024 Scripture Reading Joh 1:19 This is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent to him priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?" Joh 1:20 And he confessed and did not deny, but confessed, "I am not the Christ." Joh 1:21 They asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" And he said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" And he answered, "No." Joh 1:22 Then they said to him, "Who are you, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?" Joh 1:23 He said, "I am A VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, `MAKE STRAIGHT THE WAY OF THE LORD,' as Isaiah the prophet said." Joh 1:24 Now they had been sent from the Pharisees. Joh 1:25 They asked him, and said to him, "Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?" Joh 1:26 John answered them saying, "I baptize in water, but among you stands One whom you do not know. Joh 1:27 "It is He who comes after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie." Joh 1:28 These things took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing John 1:1-13 The Deity of Christ John 1:14-18 The Identity of Christ Dealing with History How should one interpret something written a long time ago, in a different language, half the world away? The original intent of the author. (inspiration) Intermediate interpretations. (tradition) Personal interpretation. (encouragement) Scripture Reading Luk 1:41 When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Mat 11:2 Now when John, while imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples Mat 11:3 and said to Him, "Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?" … Mat 14:10 He sent and had John beheaded in the prison. Heb 12:1 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Heb 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb 7:25 Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Heb 8:1 Now the main point in what has been said is this: we have such a high priest, who has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, Heb 8:2 a minister in the sanctuary and in the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, not man. 1Jn 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; Rom 8:34 who is the one who condemns? Judas Peter John - David Hansen - November 17th, 2024 Judas Iscariot (The one who betrayed Him.) John 13:2 And during supper, the devil having already put (what?) into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him, Matthew 26:22 Being deeply grieved, they began saying to Him, each one “Surely it is not I, Lord?” (cf Mark 14:19, Luke 22:23, John 13:22) Luke 22 47 While He was still speaking, behold, a crowd came, and the one called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading the way for them; and he approached Jesus to kiss Him. 48 But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” Matthew 27 3 Then when Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He had been condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” But they said, “What is that to us? You shall see to it yourself!” 5 And he threw the pieces of silver into the temple sanctuary and left; and he went away and hanged himself. John 13:27 After this Satan then entered him. Therefore Jesus said to him, “What you are doing, do it quickly.” (cf Luke 22:3) Simon Peter (The one who denied Him.) Luke 22 31 Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded to sift you men like wheat; 32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith will not fail; and you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers. 33 But he said to Him, Lord, I am ready to go with You both to prison and to death! 34 But He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.” John 21:17 He said to him the third time, Simon, son of John, do you love Me? Peter was hurt because He said to him the third time do you love Me and said to Him, Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You. Jesus said to him, Tend My sheep. John (The disciple whom Jesus loved.) John 13:23 Lying back on Jesus' chest was one of His disciples, the one whom Jesus loved. John 19:26 So when Jesus saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, Woman, behold, your son! John 20:2 So she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we do not know where they have put Him. John 21:7 Therefore the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord he put on his outer garment (for he was stripped for work) and threw himself into the sea. Luke 22 61 Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times. 62 And he went out and wept bitterly.

Lordwin Jeyakumar - September 29th 2024 - How Do We Embrace the Gift of Patience While Trusting God's Perfect Timing? How do you express the word 'patience' in your native language? People tend to lose patience......... Healthcare System Immigration and Visa Processing        Public Transportation        Traffic and Road Construction Winter Weather and Driving Housing Market Government Services Job Search and Career Advancement Parenting Challenges Relationships and Marriages Caring for Elderly Parents or aging parents What is the meaning of 'patience'? * The capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble * Suffering without getting angry or upset. * According to the Bible, patience is often described as the ability to endure suffering, trials, or waiting with faith and trust in God's timing. * It is seen as a fruit of the Spirit, reflecting a calm, steadfast reliance on God's will. Ephesians 4:2 (NLT): Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love. Psalm 37:7 (NLT): Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don't worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. The Fruits of Patience 1. Contentment through Patience 2. Self-Sufficiency in Christ 3. Joy in Suffering 4. Temporary Grief, Eternal Joy 1. Contentment through Patience Philippians 4:11-12 (NLT) 11. Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. 12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. Luke 12:15 (NLT) Then he said, Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own. 2. Self-Sufficiency in Christ 1 Timothy 6:6 (NKJV) Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 3. Joy in Suffering James 1:2-3 (NKJV) 2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience Romans 5: 3-4 (NLT) 3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 4. Temporary Grief, Eternal Joy 2 Corinthians 4:17 (NLT) For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! Is patience alone sufficient to navigate life's challenges, or do we also need faith? Hebrews 6:12 When God's Timing Doesn't Match Ours: A Call to Patience What does the Bible say about timing? Ecclesiastes 3:1 & Acts 1:7 (NIV) & 2 Peter 3: 8 Why doesn't God reveal every detail about our lives in advance? Have you ever been in a situation where you were hoping for something to happen and prayed to God, but it didn't happen as soon as you wanted? Why does God allow delays in our lives? Four Life Principles to Overcome Challenges * Fear Not - Isaiah 41:10 * Fret Not - Psalm 37:1 , Philippians 4:6 , Matthew 6: 25-27 * Forget Not - Psalm 103:2 , Proverbs 3: 1 * Faint Not -Isaiah 40:31 .Galatians 6:9 Are you feeling like giving up on something in your life? And they had brick for stone, and bitumen for mortar. (4) Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.“ ~2250 BC – about 100years after the Flood About 1000 to 10,000 people at this point One language. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. (7) Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another's speech." Answers:  The sinful Samaritan woman.  The many Samaritans who trusted in Him  His Own Disciples.  A nobleman and his household. Question 2: What did they have in common? Answer:  Faith in Jesus Christ. The Word – John 4:1-42 Mixed race – partly Jew and partly Gentile.  That grew out of the Assyrians captivity of the ten northern tribes in 727 BC.  Rejected by the Jews because they could not prove their genealogy.  Established their Alternate center for worship on Mount Gerizim (parallel to Jerusalem temple).  Believed the Jews were demonically possessed – Even accused Jesus to be a Samaritan (John 8:48).  Orthodox Jews avoided Samaria because there was a longstanding, deep seated hatred between them and the Samaritans. John 8:48 John 8:48 — King James Version (KJV 1900)m John 8:48 — New Living Translation (NLT) Four Stages of Experience Stage 1: He is “a Jew” (vs 7-10).  It's unusual for a Jewish man to even be in Samaria.  It was out of the ordinary that a man would be talking to an unknown woman in a public place.  This woman was a Samaritan, a member of a hated mixed race with track record of living in sin. No respectable Jewish would talk to a woman under these circumstances. But JESUS did Gospel is for everyone- irrespective of race, tribe, or social position. Jesus's LOVE towards the woman(us) rose above all the petty distractions of men. (John 4:16) Stage 2 “Greater than Jacob” (vs 11-15)  If he had something better, why asking for water gotten from Jacob's well. Salvation  The woman was ignorant of 3 important facts (Who He was, what He had to offer and how she could receive it) -Messiah/Christ  Jesus, fruitful vine by the spring (Jacob's well) that ran over the wall (of separation between the Jews and the Samaritans). Gen 49:22 Of course, Jesus is greater than Jacob – greater than the well itself. He provides the “breath” (spirit) of God (John 3:8; 20:22). He is the bread of life (John 6:48). He is the light of life (John 1:4-5). He gives us the water of life (John 7:37-39) Stage 3 “A Prophet” (vs 16-24)  Jesus pointed out the woman's sin in a loving manner: He praised her for telling the truth and revealed that He knew her sin.  Jesus progressively guided her with His words into a full revelation of who He is.  Jesus fruitful vine by the spring (Jacob's well) that ran over the wall (of separation between the Jews and the Samaritans). Gen49:22 Salvation is from the Jews because Jesus is born a Jew, as a descendant of David. (Jesus' Hebrew name, Yeshua, literally means “salvation”). Today our worship to/of God is not confined to a physical location. We can worship God anywhere, at any time because through faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit is inside us, and we have a true revelation of who God is.  Stage 4 “The Christ” (vs 25-30)  Knowing who “Messiah/Christ” is and that HE will come - IN SPITE OF HER IGNORANCE.  “When he does- and will reveal the secrets of the hearts (will teach ALL things.) -WHAT A GREAT CONFIDIENCE!  She was (Just as us) least likely prospect for salvation, Yet Christ used her to win almost an entire village. EFFECTIVE EVENGALISM The Samaritans - Lessons Learnt Never underestimate what can happen when you sincerely impact one person. Jerusalem -John 2:23 to Judea -John 3:22 then to Samaria -John 4:4 AND Samaritans declared Jesus as the “SAVIOR” of the world. ‘vs42 (Perfect Parallel to Act 1:8) The unnamed Samaritan woman was a fruitful believer: bore fruit (“many believed”), more fruit (“many more believed”), and much fruit today. (John 15:1-5) Our Lord, “Jesus Christ, the Messiah” has set the example. If we follow, He will give us the harvest. Amen.

Musterion – that which is known to the mustes (the initiated) “In the N.T. it denotes, not the mysterious (as with the English word), but that which, being outside the range of unassisted natural apprehension, can be made known only by divine revelation, and is made known in a manner and at a time appointed by God, and to those only who are illumined by His Spirit. In the ordinary sense a “mystery” implies knowledge withheld, its Scriptural significance is TRUTH REVEALED…” Colossians 1:26 “…that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints,” Ephesians 1:1-2 1. Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are at ______ and who are faithful in Christ Jesus: 2. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Nick Hansen - June 9th, 2024 - The Only Begotten God Main Scripture Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. Joh 1:15 John testified about Him and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I said, `He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.'" Joh 1:16 For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. Joh 1:17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ. Joh 1:18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. Father Provides for Gives wisdom Gives direction cherishes Builds up Disciplines protects Son Relies on Learns from Obedient to Admires / respects Echoes / imitates Grows independent trusts Observations The word “Father” occurs twice in this chapter, v14 and v18. The word “Son” occurs for the first time in verse 18. The word translated “only begotten” occurs 9 times in the entire Bible, and four of those in the gospel of John, two are in these verses. The phrase “grace and truth” occurs twice in these verses and nowhere else in the Bible. The Apostle John is carefully weaving the introduction of John the Baptist into this prologue. In v6-8, and then this verse. John 1:15 is echoed once more in verse 30. The name of Jesus is mentioned for the first time (this gospel) in v17. Perfect Relationship The Father and Son are equal in glory. Grace, goodness, holiness, and truth. The Father and Son are in perfect relationship. The Father and Son are united in their will. Related Scripture Col 1:19  For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,  Col 1:20  and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.  1 Timothy 6:16: "Who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen." Related Scripture Rom 3:19 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; Rom 3:20 because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin. Rom 3:21 But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, Rom 3:22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Rom 3:24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; Rom 3:25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; Rom 3:26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Heb 11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was offering up his only begotten son; Heb 11:18 it was he to whom it was said, "IN ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS SHALL BE CALLED." Heb 11:19 He considered that God is able to raise people even from the dead, from which he also received him back as a type. Gen 22:1 -10 What was it, blessed God What was it, blessed God, Led Thee to give Thy Son, To yield Thy well-beloved For us by sin undone? 'Twas love unbounded led Thee thus To give Thy well-beloved for us. To give Thy well-beloved for us. What led Thy Son, O God, To leave Thy throne on high, To shed His precious blood, To suffer and to die? 'Twas love, unbounded love to us, Led Him to die and suffer thus. Led Him to die and suffer thus. Conclusion Rom 8:31-32
