In this sermon Rev. Eric Phillips looks at Jesus' claim to be the Bread of Life and what this means for our security, doubts, and where we must place our faith.
To Be Like Him | He Wants More for Us | John 6This year, we're studying the gospels as one harmonious story in order to see the glory of God as revealed through them with the clearest picture of God in the person of Jesus painted for us and “To Be Like Him.”In today's sermon, pastor Abie Kulynych discusses the underlying theme found in the sixth chapter of John, we settle for less when Jesus wants more for us.

Jay shares his personal experience, as well as his pastoral perspective, on the mental, emotional, and spiritual costs of being chronically online. The issue is not the existence of technology, but how subtly and deeply it forms us into distracted, image-obsessed and ultimately hopeless people. The point of the conversation is to remind us that our digital tools are using us often more than we are using them. Our attention is being bought and sold, and the cost is our contentment, resilience, and joy.Become New is here to help you grow spiritually one day at a time.

What does that teach us about who Jesus is? Jesus says “All that belongs to the Father is mine” (John 16:15). How does this shape your understanding of Jesus' divine authority and kingship? GROW IN GROUPS Jesus told his disciples there were things they could not yet bear. What are some truths you've only come to understand later in your faith journey? What does it mean in practice for the Holy Spirit to “guide you into all truth”? How can your community encourage each other to listen well? Have you ever sensed the Spirit prompting you to do or say something? How did you respond? How can we grow in discernment together? The sermon spoke about the “Divine Economy”—the relationship between Father, Son, and Spirit. How does this image of God as a loving community impact how we do community with one another? SHOW UP AND SERVE If the Spirit is still speaking and sending, where might He be calling you to “show up” and serve right now—with your time, gifts, or presence?
Jesus knew that His people would struggle with staying together. When we quarrel with other Christians over trivial matters, we look just like the divided world around us. The Bible teaches that there are times when divisions are necessary, and we need the courage to separate when it is for God's glory. But may we only separate from professing Christians when the Bible tells us to do so. As the High Priestly Prayer concludes, Jesus reiterates His theme: our Union with Him. His earnest prayer throughout has been that we be united with Him. When we are united with Christ and with His people, a divided world takes notice. Take-Home Message: The Lord's greatest prayer reveals His greatest priorities. Jesus Prays for Our Unity with Believers (20-23). When should believers not separate?Over trivial differences Perceived slightsTo avoid accountability When should believers separate? When professing Christian churches are in obvious error. When professing Christians are in sin and unrepentant. Jesus prays for unity among all believers, present and future, mirroring the perfect unity between Him and the Father. This oneness is not just relational but spiritual, reflecting a shared purpose and love. He wants believers to be united so the world can see evidence of His divine mission. Listen in as we understand the difference between prayer and intercession.

Today’s Bible Verse: “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me." - John 17:20-21
Have you ever felt ill-equipped to serve God? If you have, that feeling may actually be your super-power!· Today's passage will show us how… In verses 21 and 23 Jesus makes very similar statements. To paraphrase He says: “They who hear my words and keep my commandments, love me and my Father loves them.”· Some have wrongfully interpreted that verse as “work's righteousness”.o There is only one thing that makes us righteous and that's the shed blood of Jesus!· But if that's not what Jesus was talking about, what did He mean? John 14:21b- He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and “manifest” myself to him.· What does Jesus mean when He says; “I will manifest to you.”? Luckily, one of Jesus' disciples has the same question:o John 14:22- Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him; Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world? John 14:23- If anyone loves me, he will keep my word and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.· On the day of Pentecost Jesus' words were made manifest in the Church, for on that day the Holy Spirit was made available to ALL who would accept Him. Take home messageGod doesn't need people to do things for Him. He wants people who He can do things through! Theme: “God, manifest in US!” Scripture: John 14:18-24 Simple. Authentic. Jesus. During this second Sunday of Advent, we delve into the profound concept of being 'born again' as described in John 3. Far from being a mere emotional experience or adherence to strict moral codes, Jesus presents this rebirth as a complete reinvention of self, necessary for everyone regardless of their perceived righteousness. The conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus, a respected religious leader, serves as a poignant reminder that even those who seem most put-together need this radical change. We're challenged to consider where in our lives we've been striving for reinvention through our own efforts, only to find ourselves still in darkness. The good news is that this transformation comes from beyond us, changes how we see the world, and gives us a new identity rooted in God's love. As we position ourselves to receive this new life, we're invited to let go of our anxious grasping and trust in the work of God within us.
This Christmas come with me on a journey to be with Him for He has promised to be with us! As John recounts the coming of Christ, He tells of… 1. His Identity v.1-2 -His Eternity -His Unity -His Deity 2. His Activity v.3 3. His Reality v.4-5 For the people of God Christmas is about Christ with us! Dwell upon and live in His Identity… His Activity… and His Reality.
